    Left stick is definitely where the magic happens for 6DOF flight. You did a wonderful job of showcasing this. 🤘

    This is how I fly mostly. I just add racing pedals for forward/rev thrust. Nice to have that axis under my foot

    I used to do this on mouse and keyboard. So I can do this with the left stick I have, nice. Cloud surfing, I almost fell out of the clouds because my nose dipped down below!

    Considering I'm a lefty, and fly with my left, it would be right stick strafe/throttle for me. I finally bit the bullet and ordered a virpil for my main, and will move the CH Fighterstick (modified ambidextrous) to the right.
    Also, Pedals for yaw are where it's at. Been flying that way for WAAaaayyy too long to stop now. Rotating sticks definitely aren't as functional as a separate peripheral.

    So watching this whole thing, you also gave me an idea for adjusting the thruster percentages again. Wonder if I can back load my ship's bottom thrusters to induce more nose rising, by decreasing the overall thrust from the top. *Note scribbling*

    I was looking at pretty picture, so didn't listen to what you were saying. But this is basically using systematic physics simulation against the game : ) First of all, it depends on the ship, and is caused by aerodynamic profile from the top. If your ship has wings or other protrusions in the back and they're off center-of-mass - you'll get more air resistance on that parts when strafing, therefore - rotation. If we will have front-heavy ship someday, it will pitch in the opposite direction : )

    And here I though you introduce us to HOSAM. Which also use left-stick flying, just in a pretty different way. ;-)

    as a pilot left stick flying is the only way it would even feel comfortable as I do the same IRL. so I have the whole thing opposite LOL

    Great video, thanks. Quick question: is there a keybind to swap profiles between left-stick flying and the default 'normal mode' that everybody uses? Basically, right-stick yaw-left roll.

    • @BlackMaze
      @BlackMaze  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No it’s not a switch. You can use both at the same time.
      - Left stick is translational strafing thrust.
      - Right stick is rotational thrust.

    • @TheBod76

      There is a keybind to toggle yaw and roll axis with a button, if that is what you are asking. Just check the keybinds.

      Just fly in decoupled and use you strafes, no need to toggle anything

      @@0Metatron most players don't understand how to use decoupled mode correctly and I struggle with it still though I use mouse and keyboard until my vkbs come in as im moving from t16000s.

    @BlackMaze anychance you could share your Virpil settings. Specifically any S-Curves you have for your sticks? Been trying to find the right sweet spot for S-Curves with the virpil sticks

    I didn't like the lack of precision using twist for yaw, even for non combat use. The movement amplitude will always be less than the main stick axis. As I don't want losing precision for both, I have a rudder for roll. The axis that for me need less precision, strafe, are on left twist for up/down and right twist for left/right srafing.

  • @neonspark707
    @neonspark707 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm thorn between roll on twist or roll on X. I think for combat aiming is way more precise using X and Y for pitch and yaw than Y and roll. ..but to be honest I don't do combat so I may have to re-wire myself to the classic roll on X and yaw on twist.

    • @martheunen

      Some might like Y axis on left stick for up/down strafe, for a full strafe stick, instead of for thrust. At least I do, because I don't like the Z axis for up/down strafe and I dont have sticks that can use an L-bracket, which might solve that problem for me. So for now my left stick is full strafe and I don't use Z axis on that one and use pedals for thrust.
      Also for strafe I am an invert; I pull back for up strafing.
