As a Gladiator pilot since 2.6.3 I have to advise against putting a gunner on the Gladiator even with the upgraded turrets. Now it's way better than before but I strongly believe that the Gladiator suffers from the fact that it's such a small ship. Priority for the pilot is to deliver the payload and get out if needed and not sustain much fire since the Gladiator is a pretty big target from all angles so the gunner really is in a mostly defensive role but the turret just can't move enough to that as effectively as you'd want it. This contrasts with the Hurricane in which the main damage source of the ship is the turret and the pilots should be flying while concentrating on making it possible for his gunner to shoot at the target. The Gladiator imo needs a few upgrades and maybe one of the smaller "reworks". Back in 2.6.3 it, like the F7C-M Super Hornet, had the ability of the pilot being able to control the turret but lost this ability with 3.0 and we haven't got it back since while the F7C-M has kept it. The Gladiator's waiting for server blades, specifically the one that gives the pilot control over the turret. I also think that an upgrade to the missiles wouldn't hurt it since the wings of the ship are pretty big but only occupied by four S2s on each side, which I think could or should be upgraded with two additional S2s. I propose this because of the bomber problem. What I mean with this is that there's quite the lack of balance between some of the bombers. The most obvious candidate of this is imo still the Eclipse vs the Retaliator. Sure, a Tali carries twice as many torps but it's slower, less stealthy and a huge target that needs a lot of gunners to even remotely protect itself while the Eclipse has a tiny cross section, is stealthy as hell and has it's own gunsl. Of course the Retaliator has a longer range, escape pods and beds but still. A similar thing exists on the S5 tier with the Vanguard Harbinger and the Gladiator, both ships that I adore but the Harbinger is just kind of better. It has longer range, heavier weapons and it can take more damage which is an important trait for a bomber so that it can actually deliver the payload while the Gladiator is smaller and it can still bring a quite a bit of damage but I don't think it matches up to the point where it's really a good comparison. Still I need more experience in 3.14 to see wether the, imo excellent, combat changes have balanced this out a bit more. I stick with my opinion that you shouldn't put a gunner inside of a Gladiator turret though.
Well they should be able to do nothing on their own, as the Ares and Ion have the weapon size advantage and therefore range advantage, and obviously speed advantage
its a rock paper scissor situation the ares and ion might be good against a hammer head and a hammerhead might be good against fighters fighters will probably be able to out maneuver the ares and ion
Super well done, as expected. Really enjoyable, too. Honestly looking forward a few years to SC being more complete and playable, I can see videos like these being bread and butter for a lot of content creators, but you Morph....you've already mastered it. :)
Have they pulled it off though? Content creators make it look great, but in the end it’s still a bug riddled alpha with no optimisation, one star system, and limited gameplay options. If it ever releases I’ll buy it again (bought it and refunded after a week very recently), but it has a looooong way to go. Not being down on the game, but if anyone buys it on the back of what they see people doing on TH-cam, then they might be disappointed like I was. Credit to RSI, getting a refund was super easy.
@@stevenoneill7059 To be fair, it IS an alpha, so obviously it does have bugs as well as a long way to go. I do agree that the game hasn’t really been pulled off yet, but they’re on the right track.
@@kytsunee6324 yeah, I wasn’t expecting it to be close to finished, but for £43 I was expecting a decent gaming experience. I thought I could live with the bugs, but I couldn’t. I do think that RSI get away with a lot because ‘alpha’. If it was £15 then I would have maybe persisted with the game a bit longer and given it a bit more slack. I also think that content creators make it look much better than it actually is. Just my opinion as I know many people are happy to play the game in its current state.
@@stevenoneill7059 you must be delusional if you think £15 will cover the costs of 2 games on this scale and scope, especially without relying on a subscription based model. Not only that but to fund the costs of multiple studios all across the globe with 800+ staff.
@@r0yalew1thcheeseto call me delusional is harsh and unnecessary. I have no idea what it costs to make a game so I have no illusions at all. And the cost of development has nothing to with my original point. However, most game producers actually make a game first and then ask for money nearer release. RSI have taken in millions and still aren’t out of alpha. So yes, I think £43 is expensive for a game that isn’t even early access which is why I asked for a refund. If it was £15 I wouldn’t have asked for a refund. The OP said that had ‘pulled it off’ but in my experience of the game I disagree. No need to be confrontational about it.
I played today with a friend using an hurricane. We made pirate missions and when the bounty hunters came, oh boy was it FUN AS HELL. At the start the fought a BH in space but he kept running away because his shields were gone in seconds. Some minutes later another one came in a Banu Defender and I didn't like the idea of fighting 2 ships at the same time, so I had the idea of going into a moon with athmosphere and fly just like a bomber with a tail gunner. It worked flawlessly!!! I flew low on the ground and evaded missiles, while my friend shoot at them and cleared my back. The Banu Defender exploded and the other BH escaped. One of the best experiences I had this patch!
A hammerhead went red (enemy) at port olisar a couple days ago. A few of us attacked it (along with the port guns themselves). Such a beautiful fun time. I was in my avenger titan, so couldn't really do much against it's shields with my guns (still adjusting my weapon setup). However, several of us were firing missiles at it and eventually took down it's shield, unfortunately it ran before we could finish it off. The cool part is going in for a gun run on one of those in a Titan. I think the hammerhead maybe had 3 or 4 turrets (not fully crewed) but it was like flying into a swarm of bees. Had to be VERY careful to dodge the stream of laser fire as it would very quickly take out my shields. Super SUPER fun time though! Last night I was with a group fully crewed retaliator doing bounty hunt missions. The last bounty was a hammerhead, but we were slow to organize and only had about 2 and a half minutes to kill it. This is where the torpedo comes into play. At the 1 minute mark, we managed to hit it with at least one torpedo...boom goes the hammerhead. 3.14 completely changed Star Citizen for the better in basically every way. I'm having a TON of fun!
Nice roundup. I have several on the list here, and can’t wait for others to be flyable to be added. And the Gladiator is a fun ship. Old, in need of a refresher, but still fun as is.
Really a great video, thanks for your time 🤘, well i wonder about the corsair when it is finally ready, i guess it is going to be my main ship, playing solo....... Hmm maybe the corsair will be a great solo ship since the pilot get lots of pew pew..... Ow yeah missile mode and some side turrets as well. Anyway i don't know what i am talking about. Too much coffee, i apologize for my existence
The Hurricane was my favourite way to introduce friends to combat in 3.13. I'd load the pilot out with Salvations or XJ3s depending on mood, and the turret with a set of four CF-337s. Absolutely tore through combat missions!
Great Video, @Morphologis! My Mercury Star Runner has, surprisingly, gotten me out of so many hairy situations I couldn't fathom another ship being my #1 right now. My #2 is definitely the Valkyrie and you're right - it is so much more than just a drop-ship While I immensely enjoy channeling my #LukeSkywalker in fighter-specific ships, my bread and butter will always be ships that can do more than just one thing. I'm happy the game has started to move away from the "single-role ships" narrative.
As a redeemer owner this make me very excited!! Also this video made me take a second look at the gladiator as I have not seen that flying before, only ever on the show floors and its actually something I might pick up with some AUEC this patch if we don't get a wipe so we have to buy the essentials again!
With this change and making turret gunners a necessity, they are one step closer to having your team just live on the ship and log out in the ship. They need to sort out bed logging to make it really viable. Exciting times ahead!
"Two players in two ships is better than two people in one." won't be true after NPC gunners are in the game. Multicrewing being a good meta choice is definitely a temporary situation. For it to stay a good use of resources, the margin of DPS between the NPC and your buddy (Yes, just the difference between them.) would have to be larger than your buddy's contribution in their own ship. The meta will be everyone solo flying their NPC crewed multicrew ships.
I am impressed by the amount of details and such in the Carrack but never really cared for owning it, but knowing myself i am going to get it at some point cause ships owned+1 is a serious thing :) Great video loved the shots used.
Best value multicrew? Cutlass. Best looking and fastest multicrew? 3 words. Mercury. Star. Runner! But you sure have re-ignited my love for the freelancer in just that opening shot. And you also have surprised me with some ships I wouldn't expect, but agree with! Keep up the good work.
i played for the first time a couple weeks ago and flew my ship around learning the controls and stuff, then like a curious idiot i walked onto my ships ramp while in quantum travel and flew out. some guy in an alien dropship came and brought me to a nearby station and then just gave me 10mil for some reason. best start to a game ive ever experienced
I love how Star Citizen has such a varied array of ships that each can perform various functions, so that players that enjoy some things over others can have ship upgrade paths towards larger & more powerful options that they can enjoy with their friends in. Based on how the MOLE is with a multi-crew, once the salvage mechanic is in game properly, the Reclaimer will have a whole new life in store for its crews, the same goes for the Vulcan, Orion, Crucible & BMM as they eventually enter the Verse with their game play mechanics.
The Cutlass is one of the greatest ship values, affordable and viable enough for solo play and meaner fully crewed. The Connie has been painful to fly all these years but the latest patches have finally got it closer to where it was meant to be and I am satisfied I held onto it. You forgot to mention the coolest trick of the Hercules: the bait carrier that can field up to 6 snub fighters quickly. The PO raiders thought they were gonna get an easy Herc kill then they were crying from jail lol.
Hey, Morph! Love the video, and I'm super excited for all the changes coming in 3.14. I noticed messing around with an MSR in the PTU that the scanning room actually works! It's a bit odd because there is no way to get an actual visual on a target from the scanning room, but the chair now has full engineering control and allows you to deploy the radar dish. I'm curious to test out if the dish actually affects scanning from the pilot or co-pilot's perspective, but I currently have no way to test it out (no one to play with consistently). I know you usually have larger groups to play with so I thought it would be cool if you checked out if it allows for further scans, or maybe easier stealth detection when deployed. Hope to see you in the 'verse one day!
I realize this video is quite old, and things have changed since it was released. While I agree with your list, I was surprised that you said (what I understand) that the Caterpillar is not meant to be taken into combat. Yes, it is primarily a hauler, but it can take quite a beating. Also if you have a full crew for the turrets, it packs a decent punch. If you have enough mates in your game session and you can get 4 Nova Tanks, with a bit of tricky flying you can put one tank in each cargo bay, making for a nice broadside configuration. I realize certain tricks could be done with other ships as well, but just wanted to put the Cat out there in case anyone was interested.

The cinematic scene of the Blue chasing the Freelancer was really nice!
excellent production and many thanks to Morph and team for putting it together. No doubt 3.14 will bring a number of interesting changes
Can't wait to see how those Hammerheads fair against the mighty Ares and Ion.
Well they should be able to do nothing on their own, as the Ares and Ion have the weapon size advantage and therefore range advantage, and obviously speed advantage
its a rock paper scissor situation the ares and ion might be good against a hammer head and a hammerhead might be good against fighters fighters will probably be able to out maneuver the ares and ion
i think the an ares will be a hh destroyer, considering 3 to 5 would probably take an idris
Great coverage of the multicrew ships! Definetly recommend watching it!
Super well done, as expected. Really enjoyable, too. Honestly looking forward a few years to SC being more complete and playable, I can see videos like these being bread and butter for a lot of content creators, but you Morph....you've already mastered it. :)
The Hornet series as a whole needs some love and tlc.
Just wait until the Super Hornet gets it's reinforced armor tech ;)
no doubt, it would be nice if my heartseeker spawned on a pad normal instead of balancing on it's nose or upside down. just for starters...
Consequence of being the uncontested king of the game for idk how many years. got ubernerfed and yeah it needs a lot of love
Cannot believe they pulled off this game. So excited for the future of SC
Edit: not pulled off entirely obviously, see replies
Have they pulled it off though? Content creators make it look great, but in the end it’s still a bug riddled alpha with no optimisation, one star system, and limited gameplay options.
If it ever releases I’ll buy it again (bought it and refunded after a week very recently), but it has a looooong way to go.
Not being down on the game, but if anyone buys it on the back of what they see people doing on TH-cam, then they might be disappointed like I was.
Credit to RSI, getting a refund was super easy.
@@stevenoneill7059
To be fair, it IS an alpha, so obviously it does have bugs as well as a long way to go.
You left out the Reclaimer, that ship can double as a multi-crew combat ship easily. I speak from experience during the last xeno threat event.
Love all the cinematic you put into this video Morph. Grant job to you and your crew.
One of the best experiences I had this patch!
i 100% blame hotsaucerman for my love of the freelancer mis, but man it is a fun and tough ship, glad we have some more nmulticrew gameplay for it
A hammerhead went red (enemy) at port olisar a couple days ago.
All those ships have crazy amount of drag in atmosphere. Like flying a boxy truck.
"if you think I deserve it by the end" is the best CTA Ive heard on youtube yet, great video!!
You leave my beloved Argo Cargo alone. (I bought it as a joke but really did fall in love with it.)
Well ill be flying around in the Tana. fight me, it looks like it's right out of star wars and i love it unconditionally
the connie was always a craft i loved, its so cool with the extra fighter, as a team of three with my friends we can really make use with that
Nice roundup. I have several on the list here, and can’t wait for others to be flyable to be added.
And the Gladiator is a fun ship. Old, in need of a refresher, but still fun as is.
So nice shots in that video. Impressive job Morpho' !
06:21 is just such a glorious and beautiful shot 👍🏻
I've watched the first 10 seconds like 10 times in a row. The music is so good.
I love your videos. Amazing images and very pertinent. Perhaps you should have stated combat multicrew as I was surprised by the absence of the MOLE.
Very well made and informative video. As always.
The Hurricane was my favourite way to introduce friends to combat in 3.13. I'd load the pilot out with Salvations or XJ3s depending on mood, and the turret with a set of four CF-337s. Absolutely tore through combat missions!
This video is absolutely masterful! There’s no wonder you’re right at the top of the SC TH-camr list. (If such a thing existed)
Great Video, @Morphologis!
My Mercury Star Runner has, surprisingly, gotten me out of so many hairy situations I couldn't fathom another ship being my #1 right now. My #2 is definitely the Valkyrie and you're right - it is so much more than just a drop-ship
While I immensely enjoy channeling my #LukeSkywalker in fighter-specific ships, my bread and butter will always be ships that can do more than just one thing. I'm happy the game has started to move away from the "single-role ships" narrative.
Thanks for another great video! As always =}
Great video with fantastic footages ! Thank you 🙏
As a redeemer owner this make me very excited!!
I look forward to another one of these videos later down the line when more ships are released!
I've had the Gladiator for years. Always held on to it. Seeing it in this video makes me so happy.
Great video and plenty informative despite me finding it a bit late. Keep up the great content.
I am impressed by the amount of details and such in the Carrack but never really cared for owning it, but knowing myself i am going to get it at some point cause ships owned+1 is a serious thing :) Great video loved the shots used.
I’ve always thought of the snub on the consolation as a human guided torpedo
always such quality content ! and always love those 1440p uploads on my monitor :)
Gladiator love!!! Great vid!
i played for the first time a couple weeks ago and flew my ship around learning the controls and stuff, then like a curious idiot i walked onto my ships ramp while in quantum travel and flew out. some guy in an alien dropship came and brought me to a nearby station and then just gave me 10mil for some reason. best start to a game ive ever experienced
One thing the gladiator becoming good has taught me is not to listen to the community when they try to talk you out of a ship
Hahahaha wow the excitment in your voice "The argo cargo!" xD
Glorious 21:9 format. Thanks
The footage blows me completely away again 👍😍
The Cutlass is one of the greatest ship values, affordable and viable enough for solo play and meaner fully crewed. The Connie has been painful to fly all these years but the latest patches have finally got it closer to where it was meant to be and I am satisfied I held onto it. You forgot to mention the coolest trick of the Hercules: the bait carrier that can field up to 6 snub fighters quickly. The PO raiders thought they were gonna get an easy Herc kill then they were crying from jail lol.
amazing video as always man. you capture the stuff I wanna see like low flying planet combat!
I wanted to see the reclaimer on this list!
Awesome content as always!
Am I in heaven? Now I understand why 80% of your viewers believe your voice sounds so angelic they can't stop crying. Are you an Angel? 😭😭😭😭
2:36 "Massive Size 3 gun turret"
Perseus: We talk about massive turrets ?
"just be ready to dodge stealth bombers"
my eclipse chuckled
Great video! Would love to see a similar run through of the best solo fighters after the 3.14 update
Super Hornet should definitely have a firepower advantage. That's kinda the whole point. Hoping that gets resolved later.
Me and a couple friends did bounty hunting in a caterpillar, it was really wonky but really fun for some reason!
Great cinematography!
