Patrick! I had to stop by and thank you for this video. I wrote a script for an interview mock call for a BDR position, using some of your tips here, and got the job. The hiring manager was impressed by me writing the script, but this line: “…do you mind if I go ahead and make a recommendation?” impressed him so much! I appreciate the knowledge you share!
@@dr.bungus2346Great question! Since this was a year ago, I have no idea where that script is. However, I remember that I used an abbreviated version of what Patrick shared here.
Hi @Patrick Dang. My number one take away was how you did sales without being pushy by using two phrases stood out the most "Is that fair?" and "I'm curious" Thank you for sharing this video :)
Just want to put it out there that while there is no one method to executing a cold call - this guy here nails it very well. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY VIEW COUNTS.
Hello Patrick, I watch your sales videos more often and they helped me alot in my interviews. For this particular call don’t you think the lead portrayed is so positive and kind towards answering every question with detailed answers. Thats so ambitious in real life cold calls. What I would imagine looking at is a rude lead in the initial minutes which is qualified in the later part. I appreciate your help😇
Yes, what you said make sense. I think it does matter who you are calling and what industry it is. My experience is that silican valley software companies usually get nice employees there and the higher the level, the nicer the people. So Tom is not exceptional, but rather the norm.
Hey Patrick, that was awesome! I never thought I would have to reenter the world of cold calling, but as a newly incepted entrepreneur, I understand that is paramount. My biggest take away is that you were not pitchy, but relational. You didn't push a sell rather provided a possible solution to an area that the director may have not considered. You took that and capitalized on the moment to meet again to explore the possibility of solving their issue. Ingenious!
I like the fact that the next meeting will consist of fact-finding, needs analysis, and client qualification. There's no sense working with prospects that don't qualify for whatever reason. Also, you were gently probing any pain points they might have. I noticed also that the prospect kept mentioning ROI and various other metric. This gives you an idea about his personality and his most important goals. I'm impressed...
Hi Patrick, this is a really nice learning material. I can see this script has a 1) nice opening 0:32 - asking for help is usually not going to get rejection 2) 1:21 nice up-front contract to establish another 5 mins of talking time 3) 1:33 show your home work and said something relevant to Tom so he opens up about his situation My question though is : 1 before you call, did you already know Tom is head of acquisition? If Yes, why do you not acknowledge that in the beginning of the call? If No, then how do you plan to get to know what Tom is in-charge of? 2 how do you find Tom? from LInkedIN? if that is the case, how do you get his phone number? Thank you very much.
What I find interesting is that he was also doing something else here. In the role play the prospect really changed tones when he was given useful information about game adverts
Hello Patrick, Saludos desde España, your content is incredible and you don't know how much you've helped me, keep it up, you're a great person and a great professional, thank you very much for everything, really.
Can you make another where you would start as a entrepreneur or not well known company? Most of us are probably entrepreneur or owner of startup agency and when we call these businesses owner we dont have that credibility like tiktok
Thank you Patrick for this content, you can see how hard your worked for it. one big/ small comment I have - a good sales rep isnt someone who is running a script, a good one I believe is someone who knows how to deal with obstacles and there are so many. because this kind of call is very rare to achieve if you talk to some one and surprise them on the other side. I hope you'll set a content based specifically on Average obstacles like - I do not have time at the moment, not interested, we already have this service and very pleased - etc. , thank you for your amazing content
Appreciate the kind words. And sure, i'll see if i can try including other common objections you guys may have before you get to the actual discovery phase.
I absolutely love these cold call simulations, Patrick! Makes me wonder how epic it would be if you integrated Mystrika in some of your future videos. The way its analytics allows you to track open rates and click-through rates, it is like having a coach through the email process. The AI writing tool even takes care of personalized outreach. Check it out and your subscribers will thank you!
Hye patrick. Thank you for this video. But I want to ask, is there other option that we can use if I do not want to say " I'm a little bit lost". I think it like not suitable for my culture here in Malaysia. It will sound weird.
Not everyone that answer the cold call is so cooperative. Most of what i encounter is asking to not call again and threaten to report our company. Others just not interested.
in your example in the beginning with tiktok. as a bdr pitch when we get a connect, do u recommend asking a few questions to qualify the lead before asking to book a meeting? Or do you prefer to tell them what you do, how you help and just ask for the meeting? and why?
Patrick, why do you ask how he is doing? Honestly, do you care? I believe you don't. The MD knows that, too. It destroys trust right away. You're overpromising things without really knowing anything about his ad spends, current CPC, goals, audience, etc + talking too much and not asking enough questions. The other thing is your very friendly voice that sounds like a telemarketer. Sounding more like a CEO would provide equality. The whole script will not work. Even passing the gatekeeper will be an unsolvable challenge for you.
yeah, i actually do care. As for scripts and tonality, I've already proven this out at Oracle so it's a fact that I've made this work already. But I appreciate you sharing your opinion since we all come different backgrounds.

4:41 the turnaround point which shows that how much it is important to do a good amount of research on your prospect

Hi Patrick, just curious, normally the next step as in the discovery call is done by BDR/SDR or AE?
Very Valuable

Was it so hard to make a real cold call?

Tell them what you do and how your being value to persuade them to take the meeting
Thanks for the content as usual.
On a side note, you forgot Raid shadow legends! LOL
Patrick has a cold call with himself 😂
I work for b2b firm selling the service so that there business grow. I am a indian what to do how to sell
Hi Patrick
Do you know if every new job interview for an entry-level sales position always involves a role play?
Thanks
Almost 100%
But usually they’d answer I’m kinda in the middle of sth.~ could you call again later 🤦🏾♀️
Probably work on your tonality and your first 5 seconds. Try recording yourself and sharing it with your peers to see if they can help.
Was this a real call or were you talking to a machine?
Is this just example or is it real? Cuz it sounds staged
How you got his number
5 seconds in and he already breaks the first rule of cold calls. Never ask a prospect how they are.
Can you do a live cold call with a prospect? This looks scripted but it's ok..
It does say "Role Play" in the title
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This doesn’t sound like a real cold call unfortunately.. Nice click bait 👍
