      Hi Patrick, I'm an insurance adviser, I have a list of cold clients. I have tried a lot of different approaches but they always end up saying I am not interested. Can you teach me a good opening line and approach? I want to offer our services as an insurance adviser. I would like to offer free quotes and have a comparison of their existing insurance to have better returns.

    I go between "Is this a good time to talk?" or "How are you doing?" I also love making comments about the weather since this area is known for odd weather. I even joke about the days of the week. That seems to help break the ice.

    This is super helpful! Quick question. Why do you use the line "I'm a little lost..."? It seems out of context, no? I think I get the effect. It plays on the recipients desire to help someone, almost like helping someone that needs directions in your city. But it seems like it comes out of nowhere. Anyone else feel free to give your oppinions as well.

    If a stranger calls me, and asks me how I am today, I would just block his number. No second chance.
    But I understand that in some cultures, this is completely legitimate opener (which you never answer honestly)

    • @patrickdang
      @patrickdang  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I would need to hear an audio of the type of voice to make a judgment. But in general people will judge you based on how you sound.
      If your voice is too high or different from the prospects it might decrease chance of building a connection.
      A rule a thumb is the closer you sound to the prospect, the higher chance they’ll connect with you.
      And that doesn’t mean being fake (people can tell). Your voice has a range of options, you just got to learn how to use it like an instrument.

    What about following up with a customer after they already chose a product, but its been a few weeks and they haven't bought it.
    How do you follow up?
    Im a design consultant and I help people chose tile for their house and of course sell them our brand, and sometimes they select everything and basically are ready to buy it but they have to wait for their GC, but I tend to not see the sale so how do I follow up to see if they bought it or see what's the delay.

    Can I use both lines in the opening call by asking how are you and did I catch you at a bad time?

    • @patrickdang
      @patrickdang  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for your question. There's actually no right answer. You can try both and see which one comes naturally to you and which one the client responds to the most.

  • @i1o

    • @patrickdang
      @patrickdang  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can try, "Oh interesting so if you were to give your current vendor a 1 out of 10 what would that be?" If it's anything less than 10, ask them okay what would it take to get you to a 10.
      But if they say they are a 10, then you can say "okay so it looks like everything's already perfect for you and I'm just wasting your time right now, is that right?" Usually, they will say something like "oh no you're not wasting my time, it's just...." and you can continue the conversation from there.
      But at some point in the call, if the prospect isn't going to by from you and the cost of switching is too high, you got to know when to move on to the next prospect.
