I had to return my T2C the lag was way too bad, the map delay made it totally unusable for me. Even T2C could help me with different settings. Great idea but didn’t work for me. Great other products in this review though.

Can you set any of the physical buttons to open the browser on a specific URL? (The CarPlay box URL in particular)
Ive gotten to try Ctrl-Bar, regardless of the addition of buttons. It works great as a spot to rest your pinky on to steady your pointer finger pressing things on the screen.
Just press right scrolling button and say “ open glove box” same to adjust air flow or “play coldplay on pandora” or “the stand restaurant “ and navigation brings up location options. So have physical buttons are not needed for most things. Also wiper speed.

Question about Carplay - if I were playing something like SiriusXM or YoutTube Music and were to minimize the browser, does the music stop or keep playing? Or do I need to have the browser up and running the whole time to keep the music playing?
In my experience playing with it - yes, it does stop when the browser is minimized.
You don't need a box to do this for Android Auto! I can do it via my phone via a Tesla app called TesAA with full android auto, am I missing something?

I saw your video and purchased it but I have a problem within a few minutes of navigating car play it takes me to a dark screen and asks to refresh page then goes back to car play but it happens almost 3 minutes

Great video. My question is if you have to use the personal hotspot in the set up only, or if you have to use it every time you use Apple car play?
However, I saw that you had the picture setting on SD It should perhaps be changed to Higher resolution
if SD Is the same as SD on video then it is 720 x 480 While the minimum resolution for HD is 1280 x 720
Although the 2 products about the buttons are cool, I just like how everything you do comes from the tablet. The CarPlay box is awesome tho
I don't want to crash while adjusting the radio. I like all the buttons and knobs in my 2021 Bolt. I also have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built in to my Bose System.
I was a huge CarPlay fan until I got a Tesla. Don’t see much need for it now. Hopefully Tesla will open the 3rd party App Store soon. That will make this CarPlay thing obsolete.
I bought this, but hadn't realized that it makes it so you can't use premium connectivity at the same time. Also I noticed after I got this I sometimes cannot connect to the car from the app to remote start or see the cameras. The car must be reconnitecitng to the adapter which prevents me from connecting to the car from the app since it shuts off the premium connectivity since it thinks it's connected to a wifi network.
Hey Robert, Great video! Regarding the CarPlay with device, can you have more than one user? For example, my husband and I will typically plug our own phone when either of us is driving. Would the device be able to be set up for a couple so that the device will recognize my iPhone and then when my husband is driving, to have it recognize his iPhone? We love CarPlay and tactile buttons for climate controls so you have nearly solved a few of the issues we have with the idea of purchasing a Tesla. Thank you!

The fact that the sound is transmitted via bluetooth is a disadvantage if it is only basic Bluetooth codecs such as SBC and not, for example, APTX HD or aptX Lossless or LDAC. if you choose Apple Music with compression, ACC is probably the best. But in Apple Music also has Lossless. But you can't get that with Bluetooth from an iPhone. but maybe from the built-in Apple Music app in Tesla?

You have to tap the browser to open it, but once the phone connects, it loads right up. It's not using AirPlay, but Apple's official CarPlay connection protocol
Hello Rob - Great vid, as always. But is it actually possible to get the Car Play interface to go full screen? I didn't know the browser could do that. Granted, I haven't played with the browser much.

May I ask how does it handles the situation of having two driver's phone riding in the car? Both my wife and I would drive the Model 3 alone but also from time to time we'll ride in the car together. can it be easily set the Carlinkit T2C to connect one of the phones without fiddling too much into menus? You really do it all from the iPhone. If you don’t want it to connect, you could just disconnect from the iPhone

I can imagine that is the case, given that, can the not-connected iphone simply "grab" the bluetooth connection of the carlinkit t2c box from the iphone that is currently connected? Or i'll have to take the currently-connected iphone to disconnect first to free up that bluetooth channel of the carlinkit T2C box before the not-connected iphone can connect?

Only thing I’d want Carplay for is for notifying ETA via Apple Maps when driving to a favourite location. Apple Music is there and from what I’ve seen, the maps app is pretty much all thats needed with traffic level and recently speed traps from update.
Is there an option to notify someone of your eta in a Tesla?
I miss Apple CarPlay. Handoff between phone and car is completely seamless. Apps are diverse, with many great options. Texting wasn’t perfect but was far better than Tesla. maybe I’m doing something wrong?

When you put reverse.. the camera shows up.. the carplay disconnects .. the webpage doesnt rwspond.. you have to disconnect connect the phone again.. refresh webpage.. continue what gou were watching..

My device is fully updated but when I go to yes push it still says ‘connection is not private’ and it does not allow the connection. No support from carlinkit either- Not recommended…

Trust and believe if you are adding something aftermarket to your Tesla and it causes an issue, you will have to pay for it out of your pocket.

Shouldn't Tesla get support for AirPlay. it is probably better for the sound quality than the basic bluetooth codec. if you want to listen to things that have a higher quality than AAC

Reviews of this on Amazon are terrible. What's your real-world experience? People complainig of lag and connecitvity drops.
Also, I'm curious what the built-in-SIM option does, as it says on the website that even if you put a SIM in it still uses your phone hotspot to stream music/movies.

I bought the Carlinkit after watching your vid. At first it connected ok. Had to fidget with it a bit, now it won’t connect. I want to return it but it’s another chinese company with very convoluted return policies. Can’t recommend. Buyer beware.
I bought this a few months ago when you demo’d it then and after a few months with it I have to say it’s a piece of junk. In fact, the box quick working entirely after a month or so.
Even when it did work it was pretty clunky and would mess with some of the regular phone to car functionality. Just not worth all the hassle just for Waze.
I really would advise you stop promoting this thing. It’s not ready for prime time.

This box is pure a$$ and I can't believe people are still pushing this product when a cursory Google search will confirm. Extreme lag/latency, intermittent disconnects, freezing and outright refusing to connect to wifi. Horrible experience and trash can worthy. Sure, it works great when you first get it but then it goes down the toilet, and no matter how many resets and "updates" and customer service requests, nothing changes. Eventually support stops responding after the Amazon return window closes.

Please remove this video. I bought this product at your recommendation and it worked great. I plugged it in the other day and when I went to website, I got a huge warning that my device is now infected. So now, I have this device and no website to connect it too. I don’t want others getting the same problem as me. I also tried both websites that they said to use.
