Hey there! Very nice gameplay vid. I am David, the developer. Just wanted to clarify about the credits. I do all the programming, writing and game design, but I also have the luck to have worked with a few wonderful artists over these years. I had a lot of fun watching you mince norraxes!
This game is from the developer of Exiled Kingdoms, a really good RPG mainly played on mobile. The game has an aesthetic of classic RPG's and the gameplay is fun and simple, but the lore? Jesus Christ the lore is amazing. Beautifully done, I really hope this game reaches the same level of EK and I'm sure about it will!
Holy cow! I never looked at how far Splattercat has come. It doesn't seem that long ago when he was sick, going through health issues and only had a few hundred thousand subscribers. Been a fan for years and look forward to many more years of your commentary.
The first-person exploration in a 3D world and turn-based party combat on a grid give me strong Betrayal at Krondor/Antara vibes. Those games were huge in my childhood, so I'm definitely going to give this a shot. The in-depth character creation looks great, too.
I played Exiled kingdoms on mobile many years ago and loved it. ive been tracking this game since the announcement a couple years ago when EK content was complete. I am glad to see it get attention.
there might even be the undead race at some point in the update.. or 2 (Tol gave up his mortal side and made the Tolassians orderly, after 100 years from the 1st game they now protect mortals against the evils of Orogg, another undead faction)
Exiled Kingdoms was a really great game and now we have Archaelund to bite. I hope this game will gain more attention through this video. And the other games released by the dev
It takes 4AP to attack with a basic 1-hand weapon (sword, mace etc). So making sure your character has 8AP during character creation will help a lot with getting two attacks with a 1-hand weapon. 2-hand weapons (giant swords, giant hammers, etc) can require 5 to 6 AP, which will let you use AP to improve accuracy, but you'll get one attack per turn.
I'm glad someone who knows how to play this genre of game took a swing, I watched two other vids and they just did not understand the build or how to use the characters they picked and got absolutely annihilated. They left chests behind and then complained about not having armor or weapons. it was awful. Now, on the bright side. This has a lot of potential I really liked the playthrough and it's totally my style of game. I've wish-listed it and Im excited to see where it goes. I would like to see more of it and hope someone will do a series out of it.
The environment of this game reminds me of Kenshi and Morrowind. Also, I noticed in one of your recent videos some people were upset you were no longer including the name of the game in the video titles sometimes and you included the name of the game in the title of this video. This means you really listen to the audience feedback, Splat. Stay awesome!

Good game, just started letsplaying - the best part so far is that it really has Might & Magic vibes. Also combination of first person exploration and turn-based combat may work good. And the main part for me - there are secrets and skill to find something awesome in dungeons - I love that stuff. Let's hope for great development progress on this one, rare genre and really promising game!
too bad at how rushed it is. the armor and weapons look bad (the plate one mainly, the maul is ridiculous in design) minotaurs are hossible to play, might as well make them good scouts as they used to live in mazes. the lack of armor isnt worth +1 strenght, even double the food? horrible
Bought it yesterday.... took me 3 attempts to find a party i liked.... after completing the first dungeon i reaaaaaally like this game. its difficult but its not the tactical aspect that is hard its that camping supplies and gear are hard to come by, so you have to sparingly use your full rests for emergencies and only forage for supplies when resting most of the time... i started ending a fight and resting and ending a fight and resting and that seems to work..... also dont let your 2hander die becuase he cant afford to attack if he does until you full rest but early on with a minotaur you dont really have supplies for a second full rest until you figure out how to harvest supplies from some of the lootables. you almost have to think ahead about when to engage becuase if you can split up all the mobs its alot easier to focus fire and keep your tanks alive while half of them are still traveling to you.. BUT the combat feels balanced, its just item scarecity that makes the game scary becuase you never know if you full rest now and next fight get one of your characters downed if he can recover ... so you end up walking up on a group of mobs thinking ... "do i have to attack them from this angle, is there a way around them to get to that mob first?? or can i wait it out a bit and see if they pat a little bit closer and then hit the little guys from thier back line before the big guy can get to me? AND theres ambushes!... its really good for anyone that is interested in a game that loosely has a dnd ruleset and is tactical like Homm, but with exploration like skyrim.... im in love and i cant wait to see how it develops but im scared to finish the demo becuase i dont want to spoil the game for myself and get sick of it before its even complete.... also splatty my minotaur is stuck in the falling animation too lol

It would be lovely to have some personalities for your characters and have them do quips and barks depending on their class and personality. Other than that, seems really fun, a major, old-school M&M vibe, if you played it turn-based instead of spamming keys while wildly running around. I guess Wizardry would be closer, but I played M&M waaaay more.
Splatty, survival in dnd makes it so much more fun so I'm with you! I try to incorporate it into every campaign and reward good planning for the players.
Around 22:44 ish, if you treat your situation of (3x) lockpick attempts w/ P[success] = 0.88 , P[only succeeding once] + P[succeeding 0 times] = 0.039744 = 3.9744% , so still very low but higher than the 1/144 chance you mentioned.
