It's a smart necromancer, nobody thinks about using unholy attacks on undead, everyone always goes for holy attacks, that's like a 200 iq game play
also makes them weak to his attacks, so no insubordination will happen

I think Anakin should have listened to Splatts high ground lesson.
Even if I didn't notice that the game has an Alpha tag on the menu screen, the fact that the character is sitting sideways on the chair that's baked into the background and is clipping through his leg indicates this game is RAW.
The abilities don't seem to be on a cooldown, they just gray out when you don't have enough energy to cast them, and color in as you recover energy

I agree with everything you said. These few little things if added they will increase the immersion and make the game feel even more fun.
I love that there are many heroes with different classes and many skills to choose from to specialise.

Developer: Please.consider larger font size for.Steam Deck, or UI/font scaling. Xbox ABXY style controls would also be great.
If this is finally the Strategy RPG with realtime paused gamepaly that I was looking for all this time while waiting for Dragon Age, I am definitely buying it!
Come on Splat. Flat damage increase on a high attack-speed character (in this case archer speed buff + priest's relic) is a common play to make even a weak character a lot stronger and useful.
The game looks really cool! Going onto my wishlist right away. I'll wait until they improve some of the UI and add depth before buying though.

22:55 that's not cooldown, that's the UI showing you that you do not have enough energy to cast the skill and it shows exactly how much you are short by relative to the cost of the skill...
And you mistaken the visual representation of the UI which showed the effect your energy regeneration as cooldown.

Hmm, BattleChess sure has come a long way over the past couple of decades.
Seriously though, I very much like this approach to making a video game of a board/table-top game. This also looks a lot prettier than most other table-top to video game adaptations I've seen.

female version of the title "lord" would be "lady", no? strange that they put the same title on both characters. maybe an error due to the devs not being native english speakers? it would be "lord craig" and "lady gwenn".
That or the devs have been infected with the "Woke" mind virus because those who're infected Lady is not a title equal to that of Lord, which is just all kinds of dumb...
Let's hope it was just a translation issue...
Was surprised by this too. But did a quick google search and apparently it can be a thing (and has happened). Don't know if it's a recent change or happened in the medieval times as well, though.
Lord can be gender-neutral, although it's uncommon and was usually due to it being a specific role rather than just a mark of nobility. I believe the usual example is the British Prime Minister is usually also First Lord of the Treasury, whether they're male or female. (That said, they wouldn't be addressed as Lord Gwenn, but that's probably more to do with the primacy of the Commons over the Lords in British Parliament.) There's other similar examples that might carry the Lord form of address, I'm not an expert!
is the game a kinda mixture of frantic and strategic? it looked like you figured out some very good strategy on the fly =)
I really enjoyed Wartile, so I am very interested in checking this one out. I think I will play Wartile again while I wait for this one.

You like eggs, right? Cook your eggs in the packet sauce, then pour the egg sauce over your rinsed noodles. Less water, more concentrated sauce, omnom.
There is a huge issue with these PC-First games being later released on consoles. I wanted to check out Wartile for so long and then had massive buyer's remorse after realizing I could not increase the text size.
You can't see most of the important UI or increase the size of the text on screen. Not really an issue if you play on PC but a serious detriment if playing on consoles.
Unfortunately Successor appears to suffer from the same and I won't be purchasing it for console when it inevitably comes out 2 years later without any options for increasing font size.
If the dev's are seeking further profit from the consoles market then they need to be aware those users often have different needs.
This kinda makes me think of a video game version of heroscape.
i really hope they don't do those action cinematic effects.
Sadly a lot of these games add those to the general cinematics or new encounters so if you turn them off you start missing actual cool/important scenes. still remember in one of the xcoms where i turned it off, and during the enemy turn all i heard was a roar, a crash and had no clue why 2 men suddenly died.
That (x-com situation) sounds like a huge oversight by the devs :D I don't know if I'd say "a lot of games" though. I can't tell you exact titles but I can remember playing games where you could toggle cinematics and action cinematics separately, while encountering the opposite doesn't really come to mind. And I would notice, because I love cinematics but don't like being spammed with the same combat animations over and over if they take too long.

looks good. but i think it needs a bit more work. i liked the battle system but i think the ui is a little underwhelming. like the level up ui was unclear on whether it goes up or down. there should be more fantasy rpg level up elements. why can we only upgrade one character in a region?

While it looks good, it also looks very familiar ... maybe because everything is made with Unity these days? It's less the art style and more how the menus, cards etc look

A few improvement needed (camera, ui) but seems promissing.
The direct top down view of the world map is giving me a headache! Either they need to make it slanted or the avatar side-wise.
I just went back and watched a bit of your video about Wartile, and you sound so young! It's only been five years, but maybe you've been hitting the cigars, or it's just the cost of talking for a living.

Nothing I hate more than overactive action-cam. Watching an overly complicated and long animation for the 100th time really gets to me.
Include the animations but don't force me to watch like an overly proud parent.
People always talk about the sexism in videogames from female characters being limited to bikini armor, or better armor revealing more skin. They never talk about the sexism of male characters being limited to grey hair/old. lol. or is the implication that the female character is just as old but dyed their hair? depends on each game and the character lore.
grey hair's a trend too. Witcher, for example. Of course, there's also the uno reverse where male armor also reveals more skin as it is "better," but that's rare.

I hate whoever thought it was a good idea to not auto pick loot after a match. I have seen this in Gloomhaven as well. I find it so stupid. Yes it can make the combat more intense. However I have yet to see an explanation on why you cannot loot afterwards. Not to mention it can look silly as you are avoiding combat to make sure you pick up all the loot before finishing the match. It's like CoD: Zombies, where you leave one crawler alive so everyone can finish their tasks before calling in the next wave.
I think the items on the battlefield are single-use items for that fight, they don't carry over between fights. The loot that you get as permanent items are rewards for completing the fight. It's a bit confusing because the first battle reward he got was something that gave him a "free" single-use item at the start of each battle.
With you though that games that force you to artificially prolong a fight so you can run around looting are deeply annoying - this isn't one though as far as I'm aware.
Why isn't Gwenn a Lady? It's so annoying seeing these gender-neutral titles they implement for political correctness.
