      I had aspirations for relationships, yet I've never felt connected to anyone, there's no reason for me to latch onto a facade that will never happen. I'd rather be apart of reality, than a facade of fantasy, and if reality is I'm meant to be alone, then I'm meant to be alone. It's the reality of my situation, there's no need to fool myself of delusions of grandeur. And I've never once blamed my loneliness in anyone but myself. These people are pathetic. Taking out their percieved issues upon others, they deserve no sympathy. May they forever be obscure and forgotten.

      @InVinoVeratas 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +61

      It really isn't like that, for every loner. I've been mostly isolated for most of my life, while I may vent my frustrations a little more readily than some, I also have gone through a lot and still I don't think of my issues as the result of anyone else's doing, but my own. Accountability is what is lacking here, these people have little grasp on reality, and thus blame issues that they feel re out of their control as "someone's fault". I understand that feeling, in a different sense, in the sense that I don't blame others, I just blame myself. I don't lash out outwardly, I would rather hurt myself than others, but I retired that mindset, ages ago, when I was 18, after my second serious sewer side attempt. I can't refer to it as the no no word, so say out sewer side and see what words relate to it. I'm still isolated, but I don't blame others for it, this is entirely my own accountability. I don't blame others for my personal predicament.

      @@thedesensitizedsympathizer5307 you're already not like these people, these people lost grip on reality, you haven't. You aren't deluding yourself with facades or ideals of you destined for greatness, as long as you stay grounded within the confines of what you perceive as being tolerant of others as much as yourself, you're already leagues ahead of these people, the fact you ask that question to begin with, is what separates you, from the deluded individuals seeking to commit violence in the name of recompense they think society owes them. Don't judge yourself tok harshly, you're not like these individuals, and honestly, the saying "the more you think it, the more it becomes true" is true, when it comes to ingesting both radical fringe ideals, to also improving and believing in yourself. You have to believe in the good within yourself, and feed that positivity, otherwise you will succumb to the other less accepting ideals.
      To put it metaphorically, there is a slighty corny, but very true native tale (I'm native) that involves two wolves. One wolf represents the positive and accepting parts of yourself, and the other is the negative judgmental sides of your inner being. Which side you feed the most, is the side that will likely take predominance in your personality.

    Lindsey frightens me because I fear I could have become like her had I continued down the path I was on when I was a younger teen. I never had solid friendships, could never bond with other girls my age, never liked by boys and was the singular mixed person in my year at school (my mother is El Salvadorian and I lived in a small town in Ireland). I wasn’t bullied, but I didn’t find myself relating at all to other children and often felt like I was on the outside looking in. I used the internet as an escapism for my lack of relationships, falling down rabbit holes like gore and extreme violence. I remember stumbling across a community of colombiners and interacting with a couple of posts. I think when I was 16 or 17 I had this weird moment where I realised I wasn’t helping myself at all and I was making the possibility of forming meaningful connections even worse for myself. It’s been about 2 years now and I would say I’m doing much better than then. Sometimes, when people fall into extremist ideals like that, all they need is a helping hand or assistance getting mental help. doesn’t work for everyone, but it helped me out majorly

    Not knowing the full medical situation of Mohn, I almost wonder if (knowing about his background in football) if he may have CTE, a serious medical condition that comes about due to repeated concussive trauma to the head. One of the most immediate signs of it is a sudden drastic change in personality. The accounts of friends and family describing him as pleasant to be around to suddenly in college to this darker paranoid version of himself makes me think that. Another part of me wants to say maybe schizophrenia but signs of this “newer” version of him would have revealed itself much much sooner. The unfortunate reality of CTE is that it is not officially diagnosable medically while a patient is alive. I would be curious to see a brain scan of him upon his death to see if this was perhaps what caused this sudden change in his behavior.

    I can relate to Lindsay’s backstory, since I had a similar childhood. Being half Japanese, half white and growing up in a small mostly white town, u get bullied for being not white. So I had really low self-esteem and hated myself for being mixed race.
    Fortunately For me though I moved into the city for my High School years. It was much diverse and infinitely less racist too. There I ended up being somewhat popular and girls actually liked me too (though that took awhile for me to realize since my self esteem was so low).
    But that’s probably what would of saved Lindsay. She should of moved, small Christian towns alienate people who are different from them and even those who dare to support them. it’s extremely toxic. I know not all small communities are like this. But many are. Like in Idaho where I’m originally from.

    Undiagnosed autism in pre-millennial people seems to be the reason for a lot of tragedy. So many people who are socially awkward and with social anxiety not understanding why. And, sometimes, blaming everyone around them. Consumed with rage at what they saw as their rejection by society. Like George.
    I often think that if they had only been diagnosed, they would have understood what was going on and other people around them would have understood them better

    All these examples seem to have isolation as the common cause of why these individuals became so extreme and violent. But how to prevent this in the future? People like these are already walking red flags before their crimes to others and are often shunned by society for that very reason and not integrated in social groups. But we can't expect people to just let them in as this goes against how normal people behave.
    So, how to prevent this from happening again? I have no answer.

    One thing to point out about Lindsay's attempted Halifax attack is that it actually received very little media coverage and remained in obscurity for a while due to taking place on the same exact day that an actual shooting occurred in Copenhagen which left 2 dead, which drowned out the Halifax story in the media.

    The case of George Sodini is like a case study of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, without being able to achieve love and belonging he felt incomplete, whilst I do not condone his actions it is very understandable as to how he was driven to the point that he was, effectively just went mad in isolation. It's clear that he didn't see women only as sex objects and desired a partner more than that, but people seem to zero in on one comment he made about not having had sex for 18 years as if it was his only motive.

    • @Ishbikes
