- I played my ROLI Seaboard Rise 2 live at the Roots Picnic 2023 with Ms. Lauryn Hill. How does the Seaboard perform in a gigging scenario?

Thanks Sam. I wish all TH-cam videos were this thought out, professional and honest. Continued success, Peter
This is exactly the rig content I need. Need more of this
Loved it! The editing is sick too.
A concern about live gigging with the Seaboard is its build quality. I'm on my fifth (!) Rise by now, the first four breaking for one reason or another, such as the midi jack coming off the circuit board, the USB jack stopping to work at all, or the whole thing bricking after applying the wrong power supply. The fact that I still gig with it tells you how much I like it, but solidly built they are not, despite the impressive metal casing. And each repair/replacement, warranty or not, has to be done by Roli in England and takes at minimum four weeks.
My USB jack just died on my Rise 1. I only have used it in the studio. It is a pretty early version so I assumed that was the issue. Im hoping the rise 2 is a little more robust with the USBC jack.
Awesome & informative vids - thx for taking us with you to get the actual feel of live gigging w/ rise vs just talking about it .
Q: in general how u deal with patches that evolve sonically specifically are rhythmic in a live environment where beat varies each show? Is only way to have click track for all and if so doesnât that take away from the freedom of live expression?
Thanks Noam! Thatâs a good question. This band plays to a click at all times, so as long as the tempo of my rhythmic sound is set to the same tempo as the song, and as long as I trigger it on time, it works fine. Does playing to a click have a negative effect on the bands feel? Possibly, but a good drummer will be good at sounding good while playing to a click, and also with such a large band it just helps keep everyone locked in.
@@SamGutman thank you for taking the time to address my question. Much obliged.
If they made a slightly thicker, sturdier version with more prominent keys like a regular piano then Iâd be 200% sold.
I feel ya on that.
How is it regarding your Tendonitis? From your video I looked it up and I am pretty certain I have it as well, although I got it while climbing. My wrist has not been good for 5 months and I am afraid any pressure will just undo the healing progress. Please please let me know :) I am in a process of buying my first keyboard/synth and am undecided between seabord rise 2 and Expressive E Osmose.
Fuck yes it does.
How about marking each key with a pen whose ink is activated by ultraviolet light, under normal light it wouldn't be obvious but with a UV light would light up
Not a bad idea!

Stanton! Hey there!
@@SamGutman Hi Sam
Man, vocÊ consegue fazer o mesmo que faz com o notebook usando um smartphone, acho que o app da ROLI se chama Noise
Compra um bom suporte de smartphone e coloca a frente do seabord e seja feliz
What's about blue instruments behind you?
the other keys in my rig are the Yamaha ModX, and Sequential Prophet X
Why tf is there the metronom on x)
I recorded the audio directly from my in-ear monitors. We all have click in our ears
ROLI AF
I wouldn't trust this thing at all
