This is a complete tour of all the features of the ROLI Seaboard Rise 2. The Seaboard Rise 2 is an expressive instrument, an evolution of the original Seaboard Rise. In this video, I’ll cover the new features including the new precision frets, the surface, the sounds, software included, and more.
I know you're excited to hear about the new features...so I'll cover that first, but for those of you new to this expressive instrument, I'll cover some of the basics in this video as well.

For all interested in this thing: Yes, it's great, but does not replace a "normal keybed" at all. While frets are great for finding the notes better, the concept of "Strike" requires you to lift your fingers and actually strike down. Resting on a key and "just pressing" is not really easy to control. Since there is virtually no distance your finger can travel, its more or less impossible to generate "strike power"- while this is not that much of an issue when playing melodies and lead stuff, chords get tricky. Especially the pinkie has to work real hard go get initial high strike values.

    • @ombilicdes
      @ombilicdes ปีที่แล้ว +5

It's easy to adjust the Strike (and Press) sensitivity in Roli Dashboard. If you don't want Press to be expressive you can just lower its range or set it to constant.

I still love it, But I also uise it with the ipad , with Geoshred and animoog, because I found the reliability of a microsoft pc and updates adrivers etc...was in the too hard box..... So the question really is what is the best tecnol;ogy to beneifit the most from the seaboard now in 2022, I am thinking about buying a new laptop should it be Microsoft or Apple and will there be a new app for the ipad... I Like to take my roli with me when I am out.. ie in the coundtry or on the beach... THe ipad and Noise was good for that. - Help advise please.. Thankyou and the viseo was great.

Yes! I have to set up lighting to be able to see the natural keys. In low light the contours of the natural keys are hard to see and I have noticed that I miss the c&d and the e&f keys because the space between white stripes on the adjacent keys are wider apart. I wonder if it would be safe to paint the frets so they would be more visible.

I’ve been ill for months so only just got round to connecting it and playing it. The left hand side lights up and looks like it works, but when I press every individual key there’s no sound. The only software that connecting it let me use was roli connect, not the others for some reason. But my question to you is, is there something I’ve not done, or could it be broken? I really hope it’s not broken. It cost me £860

Can you play simple piano naturally on the rise 2 ?

I always thought the seaboard would be a superb way to control virtual orchestra instruments like Spitfire for example, but I don’t really see anyone doing it. Has anyone made competent sounding MPE orchestral libraries?

I believe that the string music in Spitier Audio and NI's komplete series is absolutely first-line.

It always looked like soft rubber to me, never tried one before though 😅 but it looks so cool, saw Jordan Rudess play it and it sounds and looks cool to play

Ive played one before, and as a pianist it felt weird… still, could be something you get used to and by no means did it feel low quality.

I'd like to see how it performs when you load a VST plugin. TY!

Do you know if it’s compatible with the BBC orchestra from Spitfire? Do you could slide a violin note or something? That would be too good to be true 😬

I seen alot about seaboards yet the very obvious not yet explain
    -does it have a speaker
-does it have deafault sound like the piano keyboard the moment u turn it on
    - can it work straight in a bluetooth speaker separetly without being connected to an app to control stuff
I preordered SB midi controller m, and Im thinking of change to rise 2

I'm so torn. Roli makes one of the most unique things that would fit my needs SO WELL but their history does someone concern me.

What about mysteria, pharlight and straylight X-Y pad control, is it possible with seaboard?

It would be nice with build in sounds. I dont have a nice laptop etc & also it seems more convenient to just have al the sounds built in to one unit. What happen to seabord grand because that one had built in sounds right? Also seems like Roli have decreased a bit from the market (can at least not test the hardware in Sweden anymore)?

I love everything but the color. It's not bad, but the way the original was the same color as its keys really stood out to me and is attractive in my opinion.
