Is the NEW 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S WORTH the MONEY?

  • The NEW Porsche 911 is here, AKA the 992 and with it some evolutionary changes to raise the bar. Out back you will find a revised 3.0L twin-turbo flat-6 that is now producing 443 HP, and a revised PDK transmission. The exterior receives some new design to both the front and rear of the 911. On the inside you will see a familar setting but with some pleasant upgrades. Did Porsche do enough to bring the 2020 911 Carrera S to the next level or did they miss the mark?

    Hey love your videos man. I heard a month ago by another history buff here on youtube, that the reason for the left hand key is that the original key to starter wire was short and just enough length 50 plus years ago so they kept side. Perhaps it was associated with the haste to complete the car. Not exactly certain but it makes sense sometimes in a traditional way. Keep them coming sir.

    Nice video.
    My 2 cents are the following: I am not a fan of the fact that you have to press a button on the fob key to open the door. You should be a proximity fob key like most modern vehicles. Also, I think it should be a push button start. Sure, have it on the left side but just push a start button. I'm not a fan of the analog dash in front of the driver, but I could live with it as the centre console screen is nice. Again, nice video. Thanks for posting.

    Raiti - You have an excellent knowledge of the 911. The line was taken off the chart and drawn across the wall all the way to the door and I would say the company has just about reached that point on the door on the calendar. The interior is very neat and well organized and looks good to the eye. Makes past interiors look dated and old. I will say this: I optioned and ordered, in Jan/Feb 2012 the very first 991, 911. I optioned the beige interior along with the Racing Yellow exterior paint, the first year for that paint without paying extra. Interestingly the various codes changed as the car was being built. Approximately one day prior to the completion of my 911, Dr. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche passed away. He was the designer of the 911. The very next day, the factory finished my Porsche and coded that. The car was then on its trip from Stuttgart to Beverly Hills, California and it arrived the day before Father's day and dealer prepped. The following day, Beverly Hills held its annual Rodeo Drive car show to which I went. After the show, my cousin and I went to the Beverly Hills Porsche dealer. Arriving and observing the car behind the main glass at the dealership was my Carrera. That is right, my 991 was nothing more than a standard Carrera. However it was loaded with leather interior and 18 way adaptive power seats, PDK with all of the handling mods one could obtain in a standard Carrera including factory wheel spacers. 20" Carrera silver painted wheels with Pirrelli P-Zeros. Sun roof. Bose upgraded stereo system. My steering wheel had on it unusual thumb shifters only offered for a short period of time. These change the gear manually whether in manual or not and each of these shifters are not F-1 type, but they are each able to both shift up and down, on both sides of the steering wheel, and additionally the gear lever can also do the shifting manual by moving the lever to the left of its normal position. Heated and ventilated seats ordered. No other items or buttons on the steering wheel. My nearly 8 year old Porsche 991 still drives extremely well and it is extremely satisfying. 350 horsepower is small by today's standards, yet the car then still had a top speed of 178 miles per hour. The car also has launch control built in for use after the car is up to full operating temperature. The gas mileage is shown rated at 28 highway and 21 city. On the Highway on a couple of road trips of better than 300 miles each way, my Carrera returned about 30.3 miles per gallon. The in town driving ranges from around 19-23 mpg, depending upon how I drive the car. The first year, I put a cat-back exhaust on the car and then nothing until this year when I put new air filters of the K & N type and also an aluminum IPD plenum on the intake replacing the Porsche factory plenum. It dissipates heat better and has better air flow characteristics that the stock Porsche plenum. That's it thus far, although I'm thinking of obtaining a tuner for the car that is of the plug and play type. I still love the car when I get in it and drive it and I'm not wishing for a new 992, despite the fact that those cars are tremendous. My car when new nearly reached 118,000 before getting out the door with options. These days, with similar options, one might pay about 143,000, although it would have all those upgrades including the rear wheel steering. That feature makes the car more nimble and saves tires a bit. All in all, I likely will never buy another Porsche. But then this one is good enough. Anyone who can find a used 991 Porsche, as long as it was well-maintained will be getting a bargain. As great as all the cars on offer today are, of course, only one gets this American's attention: the C8 Corvette.

      A Porsche is just a car! It depreciates and needs repairs and is very expensive to fix. Most people lease them to avoid this problem. So you’ll have lease payments exceeding g $1,000
      a month. A 911 will be probably more like $1500. Great for high income types desire to have a great handling small low riding car. For most people a Miata or Mustang, Camaro or Challenger/Charger makes much more sense!

      @williamjackson5357 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joel Remland its all relative to your income or socio-economic status. Mustangs and Camaros do cost less than say a 911 but they in no way are comparable. Please - you can bluetooth from your phone all the music you want - and without any wires from your phone and also does Apple CarPlay which also lets you select any type of music. Who needs cd’s bouncing all around the cabin any longer. Technology moves on -/ and you save $1500 on that stupid clunky cd changer in the trunk that always would jam.

    While I'm not the biggest fan of the Porsche 911, it never ceases to amaze me just how it continues to remain the only true rear-engine car on Earth,a remarkable achievement, considering that it's corporate, spiritual and technological cousin the Volkswagen Beetle moved it's engine to the front years ago.
    Also,you know you've achieved something special when you've earned the(grudging) respect of a stick guy, as evidenced @21:44-21:54
