    Very nice and clear. Love the combo of the options, I wouldn't opt for the PASM as it turns the car too stiff, although I would buy the longer front lip. For better contrast, agate will fit better with the bordeaux red interior or if you want to stick with the GT Silver, I would go for the black/beige interior. It's a pitty that the base model doesn't come with manual, as for me the base is just enough... enjoy your toy! Greetings from a guy from Colombia (South America).

    You got it right, this manual gear box brings the maximum joy in a 992. I had 4 Porsche 1 pdk and 3 manual. I switched to manual because the cldd add imed better acceleration is almost not usable in real tragic: who will launch control at a trafic light or stop? I made it 2 times in 3 years, what counts in real life is the rolling performance and there with 530 nm torque and 35 kg less than pdk it is well performing.

    Just to augment your fine review, Steve, it is important to point out to your smart petrolheaded viewers, that all frunks are bonnets, but bonnets are not necessarily frunks. Let that marinate for a while.
    In closing, this is a stunningly specced example of a Bavarian Shooting Brake, without the floppy paddle nonsense, so it receives the highest possible Nena Score:

    Hi Steve. The review was worth the wait.
    I'm surprised you said the interior can be mistaken for a Mazda... is that saying the quality went down or Mazdas quality went up that much? I know you meant it as a figure of speech but still. Thats not good given its a $100k+ car

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cabin is nothing special...$4k for red seats? Switchgear doesn't feel that premium. It's all about the drive.

      I don’t have 911 but I have a 2020 Macan with natural leather interior and sorry but I could never confuse it with a Mazda, such comparison borders on ridiculous, it is much better than my Lexus Is350 interior too. Fit and finish, quality to touch feels premium.

    I’ve been a Porsche enthusiast and lover of all things Porsche ever since I was in the 7th grade and got my first ride in a Porsche. I’ve followed the company through good times and bad but always remained a loyal follower even when they made questionable choices in their lineup or with certain design choices. But there’s one thing that bugs me more than the first time I saw the 996’s headlight design that it shared with the Boxster and that’s the decision starting with the 991 to close off the engine bay and having a small rear deck lid that opens to show a couple of cooling fans and some caps for topping off fluids. There’s no engine to be seen. Regardless of if you do your own service or take your 911 to a mechanic there’s still always been something special about lifting that rear deck lid and seeing the flat 6 cylinder engine that’s driving all that excitement.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hidden engine trick is odd. I'd probably make a fake one and put it in the front just to throw people off. ;-) Good way to guarantee dealer service revenue though.

    That thing looks fantastic! The interior is beautifully done and contrast with the exterior, perfectly. I only have two problems with this car? Many options that should be standard, and those ridiculous electric door handles? Porsche, give me a stripper with no power seats, Android auto and Apple carplay for eighty thousand! I'll be signing a purchase agreement!

      There's also a hidden option where another 911 drives up alongside you and fuels your car while moving. It's pricey and Porsche doesn't put it on the menu but for those in the know it's the best.

      The 992s interior has an amazing retrograde aesthetic. The incorporation of digital tech while still maintaining a strong and palpable historical reference is something few car makers have been able to execute. While I really like your reviews quite a bit (and subscribed), I think you may have been a bit dismissive of the interior design. I quite like what Mazda is offering these days (great improvement from my moms MPV of my youth) but comparing it to this car is an affront to the ingenuity underlying the design. Otherwise, fantastic review!
