There are countless people who follow their passion and try to make music, become actors, athletes, artists .... and 99.99% fail. Passion doesn't equal talent. This is a man who knows what sells a used car, a really informative presentation, of course he is right, I am sure so many people are sitting there saying oh you need this or you need that but believe me, he knows what he is talking about when it comes to speccing cars. This is not a £30k Mercedes A Class which needs lots of lights and driver aids to make up it not being a particularly good driving machine, it’s a Porsche, it needs 4 wheels some seats and a steering wheel, the sheer driving pleasure comes as standard from the engineers at the Factory!
I call bullshit; he said he wouldn't recommend the front-lift axle. Have a look on the Porsche forums; that is a big disadvantage for trying to resell your car...
I tried configuring the exact car that he described with the options he deemed 100% necessary, I thought it seemed extremely reasonable and it still came out to 158k cad (28k in options), it's really easy to see how you can run a simple C2S to almost 200k...
Front axle lift should be a required option if you drive in the city. Especially with the Sport Design Package, which extends the front lip. Bad call there. Without it, that front lip spoiler will last under a week unscathed...
One disagreement on how to spec any Porsche 911: DO get the front Axle Lift. I've had Porsches in Toronto, San Francisco and now Seattle....I bottom out on driveways, speed bumps and careless road repairs on a daily basis. (This is especially true if you're spending extra on the Sport Design pack).
Agreed - that far left button is for the Front Axle Lift and once you use it for your daily speed bumps/humps the GPS always recalls them automatically in perpetuity. The front scrape plate will thank you by not displaying plastic road rash daily. Rear axle steering is also a must. Most people don’t realize all cars come standard with PASM - if ordered - all you are paying for is a 10 mm lowering - which makes that option questionable. Definitely don’t get the PDCC which pumps oil into the shocks, these cars have almost no body roll without it. It also makes many people physically ill as your brain can’t process the lack of body roll in cornering. If you have a top heavy Targa then perhaps.
Very good review! Exactly what confirms my choices. You forgot to mention the extra red seat belts which matches the calipers ;) The AERO kit is fantastic to have with the bigger wing. Changes it completely.
Good thoughts, well presented. I agree with almost everything said, though, as a young (30) audiophile I would deffinitely opt go for the burmeister system - it's the best in the business. Speaking of that though, I was out in my uncles 992 S last month, and, one thing I couldn't get past was a very slight but very noticable high pitched wine that appeared to be coming from one of the electronic devices in the car, you know how those old tube TV's often have a really high pitched electro static tone that's constantly there in the background where, you can seeminly hear the EMF's, I could hear something like that, and my god it was driving me bonkers, I'm told such high pitched noises are not usually heard by those over the age of 25 (apparently your ears usually degrade about that age - not sure if true or if younger people have just evolved to hear a wider degree of frequency because I'm older than 25 and I can still hear it - who knows, maybe I'm odd, I can hear bats) anyway, I could hear it, he (55) couldn't, and it was annoying, now, as his is the only 992 I've ever been in I can't say whether or not it was unique to his car, or if it's an issue present in all of them, however, if it is there in all of them, that would be a deal breaker for me and I'd be looking at a 997 GTS or even somekind of GT without any of the infotaiment/nav gubbins - yes I'd sacrefice having a sound system at all just to get rid of that. He had the standard sound system in his and he'd even lowered the bass level of that in the settings because he's a saddo of the whole 'bass is bad' boomer (!) generation. It was the worst thing about the car, almost everything else was lovely. So, all I can say is, AT LEAST get the bose. His is in agate grey with the most expensive natural leather option, that was lovely, so classy, and if I was being super nitpicky, which I am, the only other thing that bugged me was the fact that everything in the car was covered in this lovely brown except for the seatbelt buckles at the base of the seats which were in the usual black/red, I'm not sure if they have to be that way for regulations or what but they looked out of cadence with the quality and finish of everything else, it wasn't that they were bad, it was just that everything else was so perfect they stood out as being, well, mediocre. Not sure if that can be optioned out but if you are getting the awesome natural leather pack definitely option to upgrade those as well if you can, if not, I'd be looking at an aftermarket fix - he agreed with me on that. TLDR - Car is amazing, unless deaf upgrade the sound system at all costs, have an extended test drive in a few 991's and also try a 997ii GTS - as you might like it more.

In 2020 this was a good idea. Now the best thing to do is choose another brand or just wait. Porsche 911's prices have gotten completely out of hand 20-30% increase and more when you include option increase across the board. Not worth the price any longer. Wait till prices fall
@@bigmacdaddy1234 You have no fucking clue, buddy! Every recent and bloody fast Porsche had four-wheel steering, because it's very obvious that it improves handling and cornering characteristics of a 911. Guess why Porsche will recommend rear wheel steering to every 911 customer who's interested in performance and improved handling...?! From 918 Spyder, 991.2 generation of 911 GT2 RS, 911 GT3/ GT3 RS and all 911 performance cars like different Turbo or GTS models and 911 S versions, and even the full electric Porsche Taycan Turbo models have it, because it makes these cars more stable and more safe... and of course these cars are quicker than with just a simple front axle steering. You are talking fucking crap! It seems like it's better for you "taking a bus"...🤣! Of course you can choose for a more traditionally only front-wheel steering in a new 992 Porsche 911 for keeping it more "puristic", but it will always be slower around corners than a new Porsche 911 which has steering on both axles..., period!
@@Porsche1969 The four-wheel steering make sense for the higher Sport Models like upcoming GTS, GT2 or GT3. For the basic model Carerra is it not a must have, it's just a can have. The corner speed is not that much higher and the handling is almost perfect as well for the 450PS without that. There is not sooo much more that you can squeeze out the Carrera. Drive both and you will understand what i meaning. First i thought same you, then test, then doesn't order it, because the effect is for the small model not that much, that it make the expensive option worth 100%.
@@famaccount479 I have driven both versions with a Carrera S! And the difference between these cars for me was immediately obvious... Believe it or not! I'm not a track racer at all, but on winding roads such a Porsche four wheel steering system just gives you this extra safety feeling. As I said: why is it in every 911 performance car? Because the 911 drivability is better and makes it faster! This is not just a marketing gimmick...😁.
@@Porsche1969 No its not a marketing gag, but as you (and i) has mentioned: in the performance models it makes sense. In the basic one not really. But everyone can feel free to order it, that's why it's optional available.

I received my new Cayanne few months back, funny enough, I just went to my dealer today and specified almost an identical 992 to yours, but I included the 18 way seats, what a car, I will order it soon.
The sport design makes the back diffuser absolutely beautiful, but it makes the front end look ugly in my opinion. I wish there was an option you could only spec the rear
1990s: I called into Porsche Merlin Cambria in Cardiff to look at a new or nearly new Carrera. Salesman said they could not offer test drives on a Saturday. Kurt Wagner thanks mate. My research suggests that it is synthetic but I can’t find anything that indicates luxury except in motoring reviews. The appeal must only be that it is lightweight. Visually it does nothing for me. I see it as cheap, nasty stuff
Bernie Sutton I could see how you would think it’s cheap but in cars where weight is incredibly important having a somewhat nice material that you can use in place of leather that is like 1/3 of the weight it really does make a difference and it’s helpful for the car companies to basically get the best of both worlds of performance and luxury...but don’t get me wrong you won’t find that stuff in a Rolls Royce
Kurt Wagner agree, weight is becoming a more important factor for all cars really. With the weight benefits of Alcantara I can see the benefit. I just can’t see the luxury aspect and no, I certainly would not expect to see it in a Rolls, Bentley or any other truly luxurious car
Very good point about the speed of manually adjustable seats. However. I would say that adaptive cruise control is a must have - that's about 90% of what I would want from an "autonomous" car. Contrasty stitching and upgraded sound system are good tips. I love the gangster look achieved through a somewhat sensible options list - but it'd be nice if the Germans offered a standard-looking but sport-sounding exhaust package - the plastic rear end looks a bit off. Does the sports suspension break your back?
I think your spec is basically based on what sells down the road. And the Carrera S not being a drivers car?? Turbos S is less of a drivers car in my opinion. Drivers cars tend to not be overpowered missiles, and more delicate to pilot down the roads. I think the most important boxes to tick on the new Carrera S would be the manual gear box option, along with PSE (kind of useless on the 992 anyway), 4WS and S-PASM. The rest is just excess.
@@Nord_Mann In my opionion you don't need a manual gearbox with the PDK available - that's just the best possible drive experience. The PDK swift faster/perfect as any human can do and if you just want cruising you let it swift automatic.

But the majority say what i have said as my opinion: Nobody wants/needs a manual gear, because it's nothing to more fun and it's definitly slower. There is just a really small minority who want it, so porsche deliver it later as an option. Even the resale price will me a lot cheapter of the car has not the PDK. And to the question who cares about faster or smoother: Porsche buyer, as you see by fact.

In 2020 this was a good idea. Now the best thing to do is choose another brand or just wait. Porsche 911's prices have gotten completely out of hand 20-30% increase and more when you include option increase across the board. Not worth the price any longer. Wait till prices fall
That will not happen...
Rear wheel steering is a must have for this car!
Um no its not. If you need that to drive then hand in your license and take the bus.
Thank you for your comments & opinions, I'll certainly carefully consider all the available options upon ordering, there were some that either I wasn't aware of or had discounted from being an asset but I've come to reconsider my original choices after viewing your insightful thoughts. Have a great day, thanks again for your views and I wish you happy motoring, my knowledgeable friend!👍PS: I subbed to your channel, you obviously have a lot of knowledge and good insight to offer viewers, thank you again!
Lovely spec. Ordered mines from Porsche 1 week ago in a grey hue colour. Kind of annoyed now that I should of went with black 😂
If i had any mechanical skills to work on the 911, i would so get one! I have been a fan since the first bad boys film
The only issue with sport chrono is the ugly clock
Ruins the dashboard looks
Exactly! A real show stopper .
Agreed, a useless option!
I own a 991 but spot on with options and impact to resale. Hope to someday own one of these!
Please, a back seat? I know, it's a Carrera, but still. Make no rear-seats an option. I suppose if your a doctor and just drive for 'show', then what the hell, go with rear seats, and don't forget the cup holders.
What a humble cool guy tells you what you need and keeps our the fluff. I would have this guy help me build my Porsche one day : )
Excellent thanks great to see these type of view and video
I received my new Cayanne few months back, funny enough, I just went to my dealer today and specified almost an identical 992 to yours, but I included the 18 way seats, what a car, I will order it soon.
Buy me one too I will pay you back😭😭😭😭
The sport design makes the back diffuser absolutely beautiful, but it makes the front end look ugly in my opinion. I wish there was an option you could only spec the rear
There is, you can choose individual sport parts
1990s: I called into Porsche Merlin Cambria in Cardiff to look at a new or nearly new Carrera. Salesman said they could not offer test drives on a Saturday. Instead he came up to my offices in Monmouth 40 miles away on a weekday. Went for a test drive, through the Brecon Beacons, 2 hour test drive. It was a 993 model Carrera 4S costing c. £46,995 (used).
Cars such as this are the reasons I buy lottery tickets.

@@heyyjuudeee I don't think the Lord had a GT4 in mind, but I like your way of thinking, lol.
Cyclingmasterseller The word of God says that He will give you the desires of your heart if you put Him above all else. That’s including a 918 and more.
@@kingdomkids2724 yea sure... I prefer to believe that god is less superficial than that. "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God". Cheers.
My brother just bought one last year and loves everything about it
gorgeous car. Love it. I traded my 911 in a couple of years ago for a truck and miss it. Great review and excellent video. Thank you for the tips.
When I look back at the classic air cooled 911's at car gatherings, the bright colored ones look the best to me - it is a sports car you know.
I saw a Blue one the other day in Palm Beach.. Beautiful..!
I'm six minutes in and you've already said "aggressive" at least 15 times. Let's continue!
Great video, please do the same on the new Turbo S when it becomes available!
Carrera, carrera S in black. Gts in white. Turbo s in blue. Gt3 in blue. Gt3 rs in green. Gt2 rs in white
I pray I get this car one day . I will achieve my dream I will
Do it!
Very nicely done sir. Agree wholeheartedly regarding PASM, Sport Design Package and Sport Chrono Package.
Can you make a video on how to spec a 718 GT4?
Squidward's House aren’t they all sold?
@@berniesutton7277 From the sounds of it production will not be as limited as the 981 version. It will be easier to get one this time around
Squidward's House thanks mate. That sounds encouraging
One of the best review no has done this
I could totally see Dart Vader driving this thing around his spaceship.
Who's Dart Vader?
@@SOLDOZER Darth Vader. Google him, and you will see.
That is the perfect spec minus the seats.
It’s August and in US Porsche told me if I order it, I will get the car in May 2022
Can somebody please explain what is luxurious about Alcantara?
It’s basically just leather that is significantly lighter and the weight reduction means that it’s pretty standard in modern super and hyper cars
@@kurtwagner350 Sorry but you are wrong. Alcantara is not leather, it's synthetic.
I think this video is a great example, that people have different taste - buy what you want, and don't care about what others would do.
Love this spec. One change I’d make is I’d add a manual gearbox.
Sarcasm Smith not an option for now
Joshua Lee
Carreras and 4s offer a manual gearbox.
@@SarcasmSmith you can't spec a 992 as a manual yet
CONGRATS FOR THIS AMAZING 911 PRESENTATION. THE BEST EVER! PERFECT.
Such a beautiful car 👌
The collection vid of this car is on my channel from earlier this year. Beautiful spec
Watching this makes me love my 993 Carrera 4S all the more. KISS. Keep it simple stupid.
yeah i would sell that on a heartbeat to buy even a stripped out cayman.
Alcantara is arguably worth avoiding!
I disagree. The dual exhausts look aggressive. Those huge oval things are just plain ugly.
Very audi RS....quad FTW
Alpha of Man ‘cohesive’?
David Underwood Fuck off
A sportscar does not need a sunroof 🤘
That's a beautiful beast.
Best 992 video on the internet tbh.
the reason I just ordered my 992cs last week :D
Good video, I would like your shoes 👍?
Nord Mann manual gearbox not available at this moment
stefano sassi oh but yes, since 4 days:
www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/a29642850/2020-porsche-911-992-carrera-s-manual-specs-cost/
@@Nord_Mann In my opionion you don't need a manual gearbox with the PDK available - that's just the best possible drive experience. The PDK swift faster/perfect as any human can do and if you just want cruising you let it swift automatic.
@@famaccount479 nah a Porsche is meant to be driven manual, so much more fun...who cares if the PDK is faster or smoother. Also I'd get the manual in the 992 just to replace that weird pdk shift knob alone xD
@@t-bone9239 The knob you mention is just to put the gear in D or R, has nothing to do with the PDK. Point one. Point 2, do you understand the term in my opinion? Believe me, if the majority would confirm what you say, porsche would came up with the manual gear box first and mainly focus on that.
I think this the best looking porsche i have ever seen!

Let's just pretend that I'm not here because of Jimin. 😩✌
very important video. I would definitely go for that aggressive rear bumper look. the round rear bumper was one of the big things I did not like and only realising now that it can be remedied.
Not my liking. I think this whole, black it all out craze will go away like the whole Fast and Furious crazy body kit and decal era or the steep rake muscle car look from the 70s.
Even utes in Australia have black editions and they look rubbish. Like a shadow driving around. No contrast, no design character or detail.
Completely agree! Black on black is just boring
Once you go black you’ll never go back!!
