- Thomas and James put some of the most exciting new cars head to head. The C8 is a proven entity on our drag strip, but how does it compare to its more expensive rival, the Carrera S? Also along is the new and updated 2021 Toyota Supra, which packs the least punch of the three, but might just be light enough to hang in there. Thomas also does a hot lap in the 911. As for the Toyota Supra, hot laps will be featuring in a special video coming later. Who will take the win, and by how much? Things don't always go as predicted. Watch to find out. Subscribe!

@@davidlegkodukh6969 Not even the looks is special. The FT-1 concept was special. This MK5, they forced the FT-1 styling on a way smaller BMW Z4 chassis which makes it look frumpy and awkward.

Corvettes are not faster than 911 on Track you got damn imbeciles, just check the Nurburgring time's and find out who is the real Track King!, its not Corvette, Corvette is decades behind Porsche Turbo's...
It's been like this since the c5 zo6 came out in 2001. By the late 1990s with the C5 and even more so with the C6 that followed, the Corvette, with its ancient leaf spring suspension was having a hard time putting down power effectively. Even though GM placed the transmission at the rear of the car for more weight on the rear drive tires, connecting it to the front mounted engine via a torque tube, it was difficult to launch as well as the rear engined 911. At this point Porsche started taking the straight line stats on the upper models (911s or better) while the Corvette Z models began to become track stars with great lap times (as were the Camaro SS variants).

@@chirazi I am actually thinking the C7 Corvette has a big problem with that Cylinder Deactivation feature. They are saying you need to get a manual car and drive it NOT in ECO mode. So, there is that. I wouldn't complain too much, but it is just so hard to part with $80k and know you have to fiddle around with buttons every time you drive it, or do some damage to your engine. I don't get paid to drive. I have a C6 Z and thinking it is either C6 ZR-1, or get my car tuned up, or wait for the C8 Z06, which I can only afford after somebody else puts 100,000 miles on it. Love the Porsche of course, once I win the lottery. Thanks.

@Snippetmaster3000 There's already speculation that the Zora model will be over 800hp with just the gas engine alone, then you factor in the few hundred they'll get from the 3 electric motors...... Who knows until it's out but I wouldn't be suprised if GM went really big with this.

I've seen detailed reviews on utube range so dramatically on the new C8 0-60 time, from 2.6-3.6sec which is an absolute HUGE difference! A few reviewers spent the time figuring it out and accordingly there is a very specific setup in the driver settings that makes all the difference to achieve the quickest time. Its not just launch control, so im curious where the C8 sat in the 0-60 in these races???
Oh, and i think the new Carrera S is actually turbocharged even without the nomenclature which gives it a torque boost.
I think on Michelins the 911 would be faster
I've got Eagle F1s on my 981 and they're decent all round tyres but the limit of grip isn't incredible, so a proper track tyre will definitely make a huge difference.
I am reasonably certain it can do high 1:10s on cup 2s. Someone needs to sponsor those cup 2s to make it happen though..
@@ApothecaryTerry The problem is those are Eagle F1 Asymmetric not the new Eagle F1 SuperSport (these are probably still only available in Europe). TyreReviews tested them and they were making almost identical times to PS4S on BMW M2C.
@@autumnleaf2976 Goodyear actually has even better tyres than cup 2s - SuperSport RS's. ;) Pity none of those nice GY tyres are available in US and Canada.
@@perakojot6524 I think I saw that test as well a while back, good years were _almost_ as good, I think 0.5 sec a lap slower than P4S, don't exactly remember though. As for dry performance, they also tested cup 2s and cup 2R recently with some competition in a GT3RS. Cup 2s still at the top!

What does the "Boost" button on the Porsche do? I know this 911 Carrera S has 2 small turbos, so I assume the Boost Button temporarily turns up theBoost for launches... But how much extra horsepower does it actually make?

They would have been destroyed by the ZR1 and they knew it (laughter). Vettes are just doing it better! And as for your GT2RS, its $294,000!!!! What a joke argument!!! 😜

I remember reading Road and Track in the 60's and the Vette was always faster but the Porsche always handled better.

Next time can you put someone behind the wheel of someone who can effectively DRIVE the Supra. It wasn't even in Sport mode.
What is the elevation of the test track? If it is significantly above sea level, then this may explain can why Porsche's turbo motor performed better.
