    I don't understand given Porsche's history why anyone would expect it do be not as good or better with the newer models? That should be a given.....it really should be about the changes and the improvements. We all know the Porsche's will always be very good.

    Forget about the petty look of the shifter. Fact is, this is THE BEST dual-clutch automatic transmission on Planet Earth! Stop the pettiness already. Porsche cars have always been controversial since the 356; they’re always doing things differently. That’s what helps make them great. I’ve ordered a Guards Red 992 which is scheduled to be in Kansas City September 1st. I guarantee I’ll get used to that shifter, post haste. FWIW, I just traded an 2016 Mercedes S550, and the shifter there is a tiny stalk on the right side of the steering wheel. Smaller than the turn signal, but boy...that thing works well also.

      the gear shifter looks sissy
      the first thing you drive a car is to use the gear shifter
      it's the soul for human to control the car

      The only Porsche pdk shifter blocked the view of the console. None of you internet racers have ever been in a high end Porsche anyway so I don’t even expect y’all to know that. They made the 992 shifter smaller for a reason.

      You're not crazy if you are referring to the interior design. the interior on a base cayman/boxster is very similar to the interior on a loaded Turbo S … the styling inside isn't meant to "wow" you or be the focal point, or at least I hope not. My wife was pretty disappointed when I had her peek inside a $200k USD Turbo S. They're quite plain but they are well constructed with good materials. For their price, Mazda actually does make a good interior, haha. If you think the driving experience is the same as a Mazda anything, then yeah, you probably need to get a spinal tap bc I think you're pretty sick in the head. ;)

    Is it a sports car? Or a luxury GT car? The 718 is much cheaper, has a true two seater format, and the engine is in the middle. Plus it's 280 KGS lighter than a 911.

    As the 911 grows in size, the appeal begins to suffer in my eyes. It might be that big plastic intake up front and no character lines on most of the body. Performance is still good, especially sprints from zero...having the engine in the rear certainly pays off in that respect. I don’t know. I’m just not feeling it. I barely wash my BMW M2 and it has little nicks and road-wear on the body and so it has an industrial look that is appealing and generates good will from other gear-heads. The only Porsches I see around DC have come directly from the detailing shop and look ridiculously clean and prissy. Maybe that is part of the problem for me.

    it just kills me when a reporter grabs the steering wheel like that. lol, that's why chris harris is miles away from any other reporter, he doesn't read out the facts to you, he literally explains how the car reacts to every input.

    • @ronstopfer2315
      @ronstopfer2315 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nehmaiz I think you are not giving this driver his just due. He did an excellent job of presenting his interpretation of this car. If fact, I took delivery of a 992 C4S on Oct. 15, 2019, and have put 6,500 (s)miles on it in all conditions. Sunshine, heavy rain, snow and ice. It now has dedicated snow and ice tires, but the summer tires go back on it this week. Rear wheel steering, power assist plus, and so many other options on mine that the dealer said there wasn’t many option blocks we did not check. And....is this car worth it? To me, it absolutely is. I’ve had a number of 911 cars since the “f” generation, and this one truly is the best of them all!

Claimed 0-60 mph in the low 3 sec range. Top speed around 190 mph. Claimed weights of 3382 lbs (RWD) and 3487 lbs (AWD). Starts at $114,550 (destination included).

      @@oldatarigamer Mazda takes a lot of design cues from European manufacturers, for instance, the knob that controls the multimedia system in the center stack is almost identical to Audi's previous MMI system's knob, you can still see it in a current S3. The Multimedia's display is very similar to a BMW's aspect ratio, a little taller, the Steering wheel and gauge cluster is almost a total rip off of Porsche, a wise man once said, "Good artists copy; great artists steal." Mazda is taking all the best bits from European automakers to make their cars great! This is coming from someone who owns both a 2017 CX-9 and a 2018 Porsche Cayman 718 GTS.
