    In the states my local Ford dealership and Castrol have no clue what I'm talking about when I ask about "wet timing belt" additives. So I'm just going to 🙏 that Motorcraft 5w-20 Full Synthetic for the past 40k has been kind to the belt 😂

    This engine's coolant level sensor (if it even has one) is severely misplaced, which is what leads to failures like this. Mine leaked coolant (hose came off) without me realising and didn't alert me until the engine seized.

    Done a great job, helped me do head gasket, timing belt etc on my focus 1.0 ecoboost, its all back together but the thing wont start now ! Was running fine before hand apart from loosing coolant... it turns over but womt fire up, it goes to if you fully press gas pedal ? ? ANY HELP or idea what would or could be causing this....

    I hope you're all sorted with your project now. I've been doing a similar work, originally blocked oil pump strainer, suspected head gasket leak and twice I've had the engine apart. Unfortunately, all my painstaking work has come to nothing. Water is somehow getting into all three cylinders (as it was before I started the current work). Have the head resurfaced, did some some static water leak checks, new head gasket and bolts, checked flatness of the block etc. and still hasn't cured the problem.
    I'm assuming now there is a crack somewhere in the cylinder head allowing coolant into the exhaust manifold and then into the bores via the valve openings. Absolutely gutted.

    • @raycrook4525
      @raycrook4525 ปีที่แล้ว

      Turned out the head is cracked. Have sourced a used replacement - hopefully that's not cracked!

    This is a shot in the dark but do u know where the cylinder head temperature sensor goes got new engine and the mechanic that put it in never put the sensor back in

    What is the purpose of the vvt locking tools? Where should they be oriented? If am just replacing the timing belt do I need to lock the vvt?
    Thanks

    Hi mate. Great video! just wondered what the torque was on the VVT solenoids bolts, and did you use new seals. I've got one that's weeping. Any input is greatly appreciated!

    Hello, it would be of great help if you could provide me with me an estimate of how much the engine weighs. I'm looking for it, but I can't find anything with what you tell me more or less what it weighs once it's out. Thank you very much. I really like the work you're doing. It's almost here. Regard

    Noticed you didn't check the valve clearances. Should be ok as you were very methodical and only did light lapping. On my replacement head the exhaust valve clearances look too small. Trying to find the spec for the clearances at the moment but not having any luck on the internet

    • @MendItModIt
      @MendItModIt  ปีที่แล้ว

      In all honesty I didn’t even know I had too, about a week after I did the job I found out I needed to do it and it was too late 🤦🏻‍♂️
      Valve clearances (cold)
      Inlet 0.21 to 0.30 mm
      Exhaust:
      CM5G FA, FB and FC camshaft 0.31 to 0.37 mm
      All other camshafts 0.38 to 0.47 mm
      Hope that helps
