As a professional, typing experience is secondary to function. The mechanical offers a better feel than membrane, and the features you mentioned that Logitech seemed to focus on? Those are WHY we buy this keyboard. Being able to press a button and instantly connect to another device is the single best feature about this keyboard as someone who is working from a phone, work laptop, iPad, and personal computer throughout the day. Also I NEED it to be as low profile as possible. So much so I almost considered downgrading to the membrane version. It needs to fit in a backpack comfortably. Being twice as thick would cause problems and that’s before adding a very necessary carrying case. Yes the keychron is a better typing experience. I’m crunching numbers, answering emails- not writing a novel or updating a personal diary. I have a custom built gmmk pro for my personal set up. It’s miles better to type on. But I’d never work with it even if it was wireless.
Exactly, it seems like he completely missed the point of it. I want a keyboard that's reliable, has long battery life, and connects without issues. And that's where Keychron is short of Logitech. I do not care about slightly better typing experience, if it comes at the price of bluetooth connection being unreliable.
“I’m crunching numbers” also a reason why Keychron and Logitech make the only mechanical keyboards I would consider for my office or home office. Need a numpad with a full size zero. I must be the weird old millenial who learned ten key typing.
@@dspserpico I won’t argue with you here - I used to use 10 key a lot. I don’t really need it as much these days. If I needed a 10 key I’d either get an external one or I’d get the full size MX Keys Mech. I do a lot of work in excel but I’m not really doing a lot of manual data entry so 10 key isn’t a big priority for me these days
I bought the nuphy air a month ago and the typing experience was incredible. The wireless, however, was so incredibly awful that it was just simply unusable. I went back to the Logitech brand with the mechanical mini, and I have to say the typing experience is a disappointment, however I've been typing with it all week long and have not missed a single keystroke yet. I'm returning the linear version I got for the clicky though. I think this keyboard is a little clattery in general no matter which one you get, so I recommend avoiding the linear version as it just sort of rattles. The clicky seems to be the way to go, or at least the tactile. This is not a quiet keyboard, but if that works for you, and you like clicking this, it can be nice to use still. And again... Logitech... You can't find anything better as far as practicality.
Note: this is not a TKL layout! A tenkeyless layout is the same as the full layout except with the numpad chopped off. This is a 75% layout. Ontop of the numapd, you also lose the printscreen, scrolllock, pause, and insert button!
Hey {{3}}! Thanks for your comment. I totally agree with you that the Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard has a layout that's more 75% than TKL. It's important to clarify these things to avoid any confusion. By the way, have you considered the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule for cleaning your desk setup? It's compact, powerful, and perfect for maintaining a spotless environment. Let me know if you need any more recommendations or if there's anything else I can help you with!
What does the Pause button do though, you know? I had to search on the internet and after a few links I found some explanation saying it's supposed to do something when you boot your computer like using it to check the POST BIOS messages before you boot. POST BIOS messages!
Nice review, but I would disagree on one aspect. The "extra" features that you stated is not really the primary selling features is actually exactly the reason I went with the MX Mechanical. So, I guess it depends on what you as the user really want. I pair mine with Windows, Linux and Mac laptops and the switching "just works". The only issues I ever experience is with my Linux laptop sometimes loosing bluetooth connectivity, but it happens rarely and is quick to resolve (turn the bluetooth off and on again) and I don't think it is related to the keyboard at all. I have paired up with the MX mouse as well, and the two work really well together and I really enjoy the cleaner desk area with less cables. I use a desktop LED stand in place of the monitor light bar, but this is mainly personal preference and related to my own setup (my monitor is rather huge and therefore a little far away from the keyboard for a light bar to work effectively). I have both the older MX and the mechanical - both with the number keypad. The battery life on the mechanical is a lot better for me. Also, I experienced some key wear out on the normal MX and that particular keyboard does not have an option to replace keys, which was actually the reason I tried the mechanical. I am very happy with the MX mechanical and as a full time software engineer I spent more than 10 hours a day on this keyboard, 7 days a week. I have not yet tried other mechanical keyboards, but when the time comes I think I will return to your channel for some updated tips! Thanks again for a great review.
Exactly being a developer myself I am more concerned with the seamless switch between devices and the battery life. Not a big critic of the typing sound it produces so might will go with MX Mini after all given the other key areas where it outshines all the other low profile keyboards.
@@jorgep7747 I use the Mx master 3s and it has a similar feature to this keyboard. You can pre-pair up 3 devices, and when you push a button on the bottom it switches to the next device assuming it’s in range immediately
For me, the difference between brown and blue switches is not volume, it's pitch. The blues are high pitch, which grates on my nerves after a while (like little pebbles dropping to a concrete surface right next to my ear) while the browns are more clickety clack. I reckon a lot of people buy the blues thinking "I like clicky keyboards", not realising the browns are just as clicky, just not so high pitched. As for the Logitech MX Mechanical - It looks pretty good but needs to cost less. For almost $270 AUD, it puts it up against some pretty strong competition. On the other hand, at least you can just walk into a Big W or JB HIFi and buy one.
Same for me. It's not about the others, I can't stand the noise the blue switches do myself. I lose my focus and can't work. That should tell us how bad is for *other* people.
Thank you for your nice Review. For me as a German it is very easy to understand you because you have a very clear voice and there is no special slang or something else. Really nice. Many thanks for that!
This is a wireless keyboard, so you really need to compare it with other wireless keyboards. The Keychron keyboards are really nice to type on but their wireless functionality is awful... they are unreliable, slow to wake up, and battery life is bordering on unusable compared to the Logitech. My Logitech goes weeks without needing a recharge. I would love Logitech to do a proper keyboard that is compatible with standard key caps, but until such day I will stick with my MX Keys... I was cynical before I bought it but the typing experience is actually really good!
So once again on a Logitech keyboard, no Wired connection option?? The word "professionals" has been mentioned a few times, but what about IT professionals? Or even IT hobbyists? They NEED the option to connect with a wire, to get to BIOS options or a boot menu, for instance.
I wholeheartedly agree with your review. I ended up returning my MX Mechanical Mini as the typing experience is sub par at best. It feels stiff and "uninspiring" to type on. I do have to credit Logitech for the seamless transitioning from different devices and the awesome battery life. Nice review!
Before MX Mechanical, I bought MX Keys for programming because everyone said was the best keyboard for programming so I give it a try, after one month of use was uncomfortable, so I decided to try a mechanical keyboard Keychron Q1, it's been great for me and you have the option to customize it, you can swap the switches if you're looking for a different typing feel and the keycaps for a different look. There's a wireless version for this keyboard now Q1 Pro, and lots of other cheaper options if you want to give it a try. I love Logitech mouses, I'm using the MX Master 3 but keyboards is a different story.
I'm rocking a Keychron Q3, vastly better typing experience than the MX Mechanical. Although everything else goes to the Logitech with the exception of build quality and customization.
Hey, I saw your comment about the MX Mechanical keyboard. If you're into optimizing your desktop setup, you might want to check out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a versatile device that offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for keeping your workspace clean. It's also portable and has multiple uses. Just thought you might find it interesting!

Nice looking keyboard. I been through cycles of different keyboards including a series of mechanical. I settled for the regular Logitech MX keys. The slim (flat) profile was the best for my hand comfort at the end of the day.
Hey {{3}}! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I've recently come across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule and it's been a game-changer for keeping my desk clean and my keyboard crumbs-free. The powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities make it a versatile tool for all your cleaning needs. Plus, with its reasonable price and quality build, I highly recommend giving it a try!
I'm truly a fan of low-profile flat keyboards. Nothing offers more comfort for me either when typing or gaming. For a long time now I was looking for a proper mechanical experience but a similar flat/thin design to that of the MX Keys. Well, this one is the perfect product for me. I use it for gaming and typing, not for pure office/productivity environment, and I assure you that with the blue switches this is an excellent experience. It was between this one and the Corsair K100 Air which is even more expensive. I'm glad I chose this one.
I have this keyboard and love it. I am a logitech user though and pretty much all my keyboard and mice are from them. I've had it for about a year and haven't had any issues with it at all so far.
Hey there! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I highly recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a compact device that offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, making it perfect for maintaining a spotless desk and cleaning your car's interior. It has great features like high-quality filters and brushless motor for efficient performance. Overall, it's a handy tool to have in your cleaning routine! 🖥🔧🚗
So update: Coming back to revisit this and I kind of get what he means now. I'm eyeing a NuPhy Air 75v2, should be here in a few weeks. I'm looking foward to see how it is going from one to the other, both are going to have tactile based switches in them.
Macbook has four buttons to the left of the spacebar: Fn, ctrl, alt, cmd. Almost all the "best" keyboards has three buttons. I often switch from a desk job to a mobile job using the keyboard on my macbook and this difference bothers me. Is there keyboard with four left buttons? I'm wondering why all additional has only three.
I came here to say the same. I wouldn’t mind the fn key being on the right, but they always get rid of the option key in doing so and FFS that’s annoying.
Hey there! If you're looking to keep your desktop spotless, I'd recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. The only thing that i hate of some logitech keyboards on Mac is that I sometimes need to restart in recovery mode and if the wireless keyboard doesn’t have the option to use it wired i need to use the apple keyboard only to do that.
That's a valid concern you raised about Logitech keyboards on Mac. Have you considered the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule for keeping your keyboard clean and in optimal working condition? It's a versatile tool that offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities to maintain a spotless desktop setup. It could be a valuable addition to your tech toolkit, especially for cleaning those hard-to-reach spaces. Let me know if you have any other questions or need further recommendations!

It's compact, powerful, and efficient. Plus, it has a dual-function feature for both vacuuming and blowing. Definitely worth checking out!
The dongle isn't included on the mac version because you cannot use a keyboard connected through it before logging in after a first boot (from power off) if the Mac has FileVault enabled.
the biggest problem of using 3rd party mouse and keyboard with Mac is that they always lag on the screen and moves not as smooth as the Apple accessories.
The Bolt receiver uses a USB Type A connector but modern Macs have USB Type C ports. That might be why the "Mac version" does not include the Bolt receiver.
Considered the MX Mechanical Mini since I also use the Master 3S mouse. But I ultimately went with the Keychron K3 Pro. Same layout, same low profile, PBT keycaps instead of ABS, and hot swappable switches. So far I don’t regret my choice. Thanks for the great review!
Been using my K3 Pro for a couple of weeks. Only thing I miss from my Magic Keyboard (MX Mech Mini is comparable in this regard compared to the Keychron) is battery life. The keyboard goes between home and office until my Q1 Pro comes in April/May
I tried this keyboard, however had problems with the Bluetooth connectivity issues with Logi. Decided to go with the K3 low profile and it's spectacular.
Been using K3 for more than a year now. It is great, only downside is the battery life and no dedicated software like Logi to do further customisation or even at minimum a low battery notification.
I have a fancy custom keyboard for home use with GMKs, oil kings, lubed owl stabs, etc, etc. I bought one of these for office use where I only go in 2 times a week and its been an absolute dream over there. Would I buy one as my main home keyboard? Absolutely not, for the same reasons you mentioned in your "Bad Stuff" section. It's a bit silly to compare the switches to a non-low profile model. It is a fantastic keyboard for Dev work on a mac if you need a secondary keyboard that's thin and backpackable.
I like having the dongle with this keyboard - I don't have to wait for bluetooth to wake up after sleep like I do with my Magic Mouse and my old Mac keyboard, and also it works instantly in BIOS and the OpenCore bootloader. Battery life is great too - much better than the Keychron K3 I had
Hey {{3}}, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard! I completely agree with you about the convenience of having a dongle for instant connection and better battery life. If you're looking to optimize your desktop setup further, I'd recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a fantastic tool for keeping your desk and other spaces clean, and it offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities. Plus, it's reasonably priced compared to other brands. Definitely worth considering! Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy tech-talking!
Hey there! I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule and it seems like a great addition to any desktop setup. It offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, making it perfect for keeping your workspace spotless. The 15,000pa suction power and 22m/s wind speed ensure efficient cleaning. Plus, it's portable and has versatile accessories for multiple uses. Definitely worth considering for your cleaning routine! 👍
@4:34, when you are talking about battery life compared to the apple magic keyboard- what is that darker keyboard in the screen next to the magic keyboard? looks beautiful
will the regular version for windows and Mac connect to a MacBook with bluetooth without the dongle or do you need the Mac version to connect without the dongle?
Logitech keyboards have their flaws and weaknesses, but the things that Logitech does with their Logi Options software (which empowers owners to customizes their Logitech keyboard and mice), Logitech's "Flow" feature, and the USB dongle features really make Logitech keyboards and mice stand out. Another Logitech advantage that's underrated (I use a K850 keyboard) is the dual markings on their keyboards. Whether you use a properly-marked Logitech keyboard with a Mac or a Windows PC, the keys at the bottom of the keypad as clearly marked for both MacOS and Windows. You will always be able to see where the Command key (or the Alt key) is because it's plainly visible. Most keyboard manufacturers don't do that; this includes makers of the fancy mechanical keyboards. It would be nice if either Logitech made a nicer mechanical keyboard (with all of the above features) or if someone else made a mechanical keyboard with Logitech's superior markings. Either way, one major disadvantage that ALL aftermarket keyboards suffer from is the lack of Apple's fingerprint ID sensor that's found on all of Apple's latest "Magic" keyboards. Booting up without fingerprint ID under normal circumstances is a minor inconvenience, but when you need to boot from a pre-formatted thumb drive to "clean install" the Macintosh operating system, doing so on a modern Apple-silicon-based Macintosh can be a major pain. So, advantage Apple "Magic" Keyboard, but also lesser-advantage Logitech as well.
I don't get the fascination/obsession with cordless keyboards. It's unlikely that anyone needs to regularly do party tricks by flipping over your shoulder & carrying on. A corded equivalent will be cheaper, with no fear of disconnection & without the expense of ditching it when the battery finally turns up its toes.
quick question, i noticed in some of the clips some keycaps are removed, is it possible to switch the switches? i bought one of the version but I ended up REALLY not liking the spacebar sound
I don’t understand why you would buy a “Mac keyboard”…you can just buy keycaps. I’m not even super into keyboards. I became aware I wanted a nice mechanical keyboard and bought a drop shift, and about a year later I just ordered some box navy switches and a set of nice MT3 profile keycaps and that are Thebes after the 2048. In between my keyboard purchase and my switch/keycap purchase, I got a set up Mac command and function keys off Etsy. Decent enough quality with shine through. I feel like I may have spent a little more, but the cost is spread out, and I didn’t have to upgrade if I didn’t truly want to so having the option is nice
I've been using the MX Mechanical Mini for about a year now and I really like it. It's my first mechanical keyboard in about 20 years. I was intending to get the MX Mini but the mechanical one felt much nicer to type on. I am curious about the Keychron and other boutique keyboards. Keychron seems to be one of the few manufacturers which also offers ISO layouts. One of the really nice things about the MX Mechanical Mini is the battery life. I think I've only charged it once in almost 12 months of owning it.
great job. i have the mx keys mini. and the mx mechanical. now i know exactly what i have. i have no regrets, but it's great to know all about how they fit into the whole scheme of things.
The MX Mechanical Mini for Mac offers a slew of features that checks off all the boxes for a pleasant typing experience, including a small form factor, backlit keys, multi-device connectivity, and a very, very long battery life! I also like the "classic" Pale Grey colour reminiscent of the retro Mac machines. It’s sleek and minimalistic in a way that screams “Apple aesthetics”, and while I don’t hate it, more colourways would be preferred to best fit our themed desks because people have different tastes. The white keys against the black lettering does offer a nice contrast and stands out even in the dimmest lighting, but there also seems to be the sense that the keyboard will be prone to yellowing if used for a prolonged period. Can anyone confirm that? PS: The pricing is fair, I'd say.
Are you aware of the number of issues keychron keeps having? Their customer service sucks, you might want to ask a few long term users around before concluding.
I have the Keychron K8 Pro and love it. I switch between a Windows and Mac machine daily so it has all the features of the logitech but with much greater customizability.
i just got my first mechanical keyboard - the keychron k2. total game-changer, i'm never going back to apple keyboards. i love the clicky sound so very, very much
I have a M1 Macbook Pro 14 and I have been looking for a keyboard to pair with it. I want something that offers a very good typing experience. I am currently inclined towards Keychron but don't know which model and switch to pick as there are so many options. I don't need the number pad though. TKL is fine for me. Please give me some suggestions as this would be my first mechanical keyboard and there is no place where i can go and try it.
Hey! This was me last year! I’ve actually got both a Keychron AND this keyboard so I can talk a bit about my experience. One of the main things you gotta think about is the profile. If you’re thinking low profile, this keyboard is a fantastic start, though expensive. For standard profile keys, I’d suggest Keychron. I actually got this keyboard first, and it really is quite a nice keyboard, but yes that premium price tag is a bit off putting. I don’t really have any other low profile keyboards I’ve tried out so I can’t say anything else about this. For standard profile keys, a solid first recommendation is the K2V2. You get the feel of a mechanical keyboard, the customisability, for a very affordable price. This is a pretty common starter keyboard, and was my first too! It does take a while getting used to standard profile keys after using membrane keyboards from Apple, but I think you’ll come to enjoy the satisfaction typing on a mechanical keyboard :) …switches are a whole nightmare to go into, but to summarise: * red = linear. Quiet, presses down fastest. * brown = tactile. Just a little bit louder, but a slight bump when you press down. More satisfying feel. * blue = clicky. Don’t get this in an office, people will kill you. Keyboard enthusiasts get this because they like the sound! Hope that helps! Sorry for the text dump lol
I'd also check out the Nuphy Halo and Nuphy air series keyboards. I have the halo65 and am in love with it. It has pretty much any feature you could ask for. Keychron is also a good option
@@ardianthaputera6970 I don’t have any low profile Keychrons, but if you’d be comparing the Logitech, the K3 Pro will be the closest in quality and use case.
@@austindo7385 absolutely! I actually got an Air75 for my brother as a gift and he LOVED it. Fantastic build quality and functionality - forgot to consider that!
The only culprit to me being the not so replaceable, but really nice for me keycaps, they are excellent keyboards worth their premium. I had a keychron k3 and while a great looking keyboard, it required charging almost every three days of 8 hours of work. Well after just 6 months, the bottom of the keyboard bulged due to a swollen battery. Very poorly made and with equally poor customer support! Long story short they told me to replace the battery myself! I am using my MX mini mech for 4 months or so now and I love it. Small sized, sturdy, packed with nice features and not upsetting everyone around me at the office.
This is a very helpful review, thank you. I hear that the blue switch is quieter than the brown but ok :) I also checked the keychron webpage - 100 identical keyboards looking at you, impossible to even start choosing. I am typing pretty much all my working day. But I do not have the nerve to look for the difference between panda and banana switches. So Logi is a clear choice for me.
Great review. I actually find the typing experience with my mx mechanical to be quite nice. I'm using the red linear switches and I really like them, especially when coding.
I am so torn on my next keyboard, I love the idea of a customizable full sized mechanical keyboard, need to have a full numpad (have debated just getting a separate one and getting an 80% or TKL keyboad) I like the low profile, something like the Keychron K5 (or Pro/Max) or even a 96% layout like the K17 Pro since the numpad is still intact and the backspace and del keys are in standard location... however shine-through legends are a must for me especially the keys I don't use as often, like some of the higher F keys, the various parentheses, some of the operator keys and the secondary functions like media controls mapped as secondary functions on the F keys or any non-standard locations for other modifier keys. So many times in a dim room I struggle to see these less used keys and when I've tried any sort of lamp or desk illumination the glare just causes me eyestrain. I've been searching tirelessly for keycaps I could use on the keychron low profile switches with shine through top-faced legends but they just don't exist anywhere, and the south facing illumination on most newer pcbs don't help my case either. Corsair and Redragon do a really good job of shine-through but I'm not crazy about their fonts, I have been reduced to just settling for a redragon vata or splurging for either this logitech or else the Corsair k70 (but then feel like I'll wish I ended up going with a keychron or some other more customizable one instead).
Question. So you say you are in fact a windows and mac user. I have not found any keyboard that is as vertitile as the Logitech MX Keys. Mechanical or not. It's the connectivity that is the main selling point for me. All the other keyboard CAN conenct to windows and mac. But it's not as fluent as the MX Keys. The ease of switching is what make me use this keyboard alone. I have ordered the mechanical version just to get on the mechanical train. But it's probably not the expiriance that I'm looking for. But the swithcing and how easy it is to switch make the MX Keys the only one I use. While diving into mechanical keyboard space (and never get out again haha) I have noticed that MX keys is the only keyboard that can do this. None of the others can. Yes keycron CAN connect to both mac and windows. Sure. But they are not "multi device" enabled. That is only the MX keys that can do this. Please correct me and hit me with an alternative keyboard that does what the MX keys does :). I bet you can not find any :). Thanks for great videos.
Connectivity with the keychron over bluetooth is abysmal though. My apple trackpad and logitech mouse have no trouble connecting over bluetooth but my keychron struggles hard.
Call me crazy, but the scissor switches in the mx-keys are a better experience than most mechanical keyboards with their huge travel and/or mushy feel.
Hey there! I totally get where you're coming from. Although scissor switches can provide a decent typing experience, mechanical keyboards offer a whole different level of comfort, customization, and durability. That being said, have you considered trying the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule for cleaning your desktop setup? It's a handy tool that will help keep your workspace spotless!
Keychron, MX Logi or other mechanical? 1. New Mac user 2. Use a Logitech vertical mouse (Lift or other larger vertical one if not travelling) 3. Writing is my business 4. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome 5. Post-sales customer service for when I have a problem are paramount to me 6. Portability and pleasant *sound* are very close seconds (all in video are a bit too high-pitched for me, but 'brown' the best) 7. Tactile handgasm is valuable 8. Low or even moderate price is not a major consideration (in other words, I am willing to pay twice the price for the perfect keyboard) 9. Don't care about customisability Additionally, how does one try out multiple kinds of keyboards without spending a lot of money and time? The demo display in shops are free but you can't type anything real. P.S. I window-shopped in Malaysia and strongly disliked the multi-colour lights on gamer keyboards. What's the point?
I touch type, so I never care about the keyboard backlight. I have the MX Keys Mini, and find it better than my old apple keyboard. The dongle is a must. I had too many connectivity issues when connecting via bluetooth. I use a Mac and PC so it's nice to switch between the two with a button press. I don't care about clicky-ness, and would prefer a split dome keyboard over a mech low profile keyboard any day. My dream keyboard is low-profile, multi-OS, split, and mechanical.
I was interested in this keyboard and, as an Italian user, I assumed that there was an Italian key layout like for all other Logitech keyboards! But no! It does not exist in Italian! Can anyone recommend me a good Bluetooth mechanical keyboard for my Mac mini? Prerequisites are Italian layout and for Macintosh.
I love the MX mini and MX 3s mouse. I have a PC and two macs that I have to switch between and using Flow to switch between them is worth it’s weight in gold.
I love lowprofile wireless keyboards. Honestly I cannot work on a normal profile keyboard. Plus I like the no nonsense experience with the features Logitech provides.
Great vid mate! Can you do a comparison of the K855? I just got it yesterday, half the price (on sale at Harvey Normam for $119!) TKL also and very nice! Not sure why it hasn't been reviewed much yet... :)
@@congdao3444 It is great! Smaller footprint is excellent, however, the keys are a tiny bit smaller/closer together than a full size keyboard so it can take a bit of getting used to.
Thanks for your review! I would disagree with the issue/bad stuff. It's marketed to the right person and often times, people who buy it don't want to customize it. Sure, it's mechanical. But there are other mech keybs that doesn't come with a high price tag for mixed gamers/productivity. One thing that Mx stands among others are the flexibility for a workflow. That's all.
Lightning on the magic keyboard, at the time it was originally released in 2015, was very much a decent design choice, main reason being most mac users have an iPhone, and are guaranteed to have a charger for your stuff that way. At the time it was originally released USB-C wasn't really super popular yet nor was it the "standard" like it is now. However, them STILL using lightning is a dumb decision since iPad has been USB-C for a while, iPhone has now switched to USB-C, and all of the Macbooks have been charging with USB-C. for quite a few years now, and certainly since they updated the keyboard in 2021.
I have a keychron k5 SE. Basically a full size k3. Totally agree on the Bluetooth. Mine is plugged in all the time. However, I swapped out the keycaps too and that made a big difference with the typing experience.
Have you tried the G915 TKL? You can't replace the switches and it's low profile but I have the clicky version and have been using my gaming machine since release which is an over two years at this point if I remember correctly. I really like it, I can use it without a wrist rest. I'm still using the Apple extended on my Studio because of Touch ID. So use to it on my MBP I don't want to use a Mac without. I'm still personally in awe how much I like the Magic Keyboard, my MBP keyboard and the G915 considering a kept rebuilding old Northgate keyboards for almost 15 years then used a Corsair with MX Blues on it for about 6 after that. If you haven't tried the G915 it's lightning or BT so not like the MX Keys (have one it's ok) or this but you can do dongle to your PC and BT to your Mac and switch back and forth.
just like to know how it works with macbook without trackpad. I can see that you bought another trackpad and put it aside the keyboard. For me, it is a bit of overkill to investigate another 120+ bucks just to have a cleaner desktop, but in the meantime, I really wish to have a cleaner desktop!
Hey there! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I totally get your desire for a cleaner desktop. Instead of investing in another trackpad, have you considered trying the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a compact device with powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for maintaining a spotless environment. Plus, it's reasonably priced compared to other brands. Just thought it might be worth checking out! Let me know if you have any other questions. 😊
It is a great keyboard in terms of build but I sent mine back when I discovered you cannot increase or disable the backlight timeout when your hands are away from the keyboard for 5 seconds.
Hey {{3}}! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I totally get your frustration with the keyboard's backlight timeout issue. In terms of desktop setup optimization, have you considered the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a handy tool that can help keep your desk clean and free from dust, especially between those hard-to-reach keyboard keys. It's compact, efficient, and offers both vacuuming and blowing capabilities. Check it out!
i have a keychron, the my first mechanical keyboard after always having apple magic keyboards... it's incredible. just buy it.

I had this keyboard, its too tall, its not as comfortable to use as traditional mac keyboard AND, it doesnt have Touch ID. On battery with backlight, it only lasts about a week. So I returned it and bought official Magic Keyboard and never looked back.
Good point, I'd be curious to know which good quality peripherals *are* cheaper in Asia, and which region (SE, South, East etc). I found Malaysia to be good value and for Apple products, Japan not bad either. India I presume still has very high tariffs on imported goods? Makes sense only if local market is making equivalent products.

So... MX Keys Mini is the perfect keyboard for u
You can do printscreen using one of the F buttons though. It has a double function.
What does the Pause button do though, you know? I had to search on the internet and after a few links I found some explanation saying it's supposed to do something when you boot your computer like using it to check the POST BIOS messages before you boot. POST BIOS messages!
@@kozas0 It's a controller for watching videos or listening to music. Allows direct pause of media without needing to set up a shortcut.
Agreed. The MX mechanical mini is dope. I just got mine in the mail today. Great typing experience.
I wrote a strongly worded review that largely mirrors this sentiment. Good job calling this out and great explanation
Exactly being a developer myself I am more concerned with the seamless switch between devices and the battery life. Not a big critic of the typing sound it produces so might will go with MX Mini after all given the other key areas where it outshines all the other low profile keyboards.
Hi! I was wondering, how do you switch your mouse across devices? I'm going to have a set up similar to yours soon and would love to know.
Many thanks for that!
slang?
@@CreatedTech that's true, Logitech still has the edge on features.
Hey, I saw your comment about the MX Mechanical keyboard. If you're into optimizing your desktop setup, you might want to check out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule.
True.
The explanations are perfect but the sound in the background is one of the best I ever heard from tech review.
So finally you hit 200k subs. Congrats mate!
I have this keyboard and love it. I am a logitech user though and pretty much all my keyboard and mice are from them. I've had it for about a year and haven't had any issues with it at all so far.

The fact that this can switch easily between PC and MAC is a real plus for me. Especially of you plug it to a KMV monitor...

The only thing that i hate of some logitech keyboards on Mac is that I sometimes need to restart in recovery mode and if the wireless keyboard doesn’t have the option to use it wired i need to use the apple keyboard only to do that.

The dongle isn't included on the mac version because you cannot use a keyboard connected through it before logging in after a first boot (from power off) if the Mac has FileVault enabled.
Thank you
Also the Bolt receiver has a USB Type A connector and modern Macs tend to have USB Type C ports, so there's that.
I cannot understand why people hate NumPads so much. Anyone doing any actual work with numbers will use that all day long.
You have missing function keys , F1 through to F4 - adjusting brightness up and down, Mission Control and Launchpad.
yeah MX Mechanical seems not having that function keys :(
the biggest problem of using 3rd party mouse and keyboard with Mac is that they always lag on the screen and moves not as smooth as the Apple accessories.
I don't find this with my MX Mech
I don't find that to be true at all
The Bolt receiver uses a USB Type A connector but modern Macs have USB Type C ports.
Yes good choice
good choice, but I heard MX Mechanical Mini has a much longer battery life compared to K3 Pro
The backlight turning off all the time is making me crazy. Why didn’t I have this video beforehand?
Is there any way to keep the light active?
I need it as well as my Mac mini is far away and in a A/V rack. Used a usb extension.
I bought the mac version for my personal setup, hasn't arrived yet but I didn't know it didn't came with a usb receiver, is it usable on windows?
will the regular version for windows and Mac connect to a MacBook with bluetooth without the dongle or do you need the Mac version to connect without the dongle?
Either version will connect with Bluetooth, you don't need the dongle.
For me. the Function keys should always be groups of four keys, with space between the groups
omg yes definitly !!
12:22 - geez, that keychron is loud for being brown switches. Might as well be blues in there.
which brand keyboard and switches were used at 9:51?
I don't get the fascination/obsession with cordless keyboards. It's unlikely that anyone needs to regularly do party tricks by flipping over your shoulder & carrying on.
A corded equivalent will be cheaper, with no fear of disconnection & without the expense of ditching it when the battery finally turns up its toes.
This is a great review, thanks a bunch! (writing this from my MX Mechanical-lol)
quick question, i noticed in some of the clips some keycaps are removed, is it possible to switch the switches?
i bought one of the version but I ended up REALLY not liking the spacebar sound
CT-
Thanks for your time & effort! 👍🏾
Keychron K2 still king 👑
i love my K10, max specs and gateron red!❤
Agreed
Keychron k8 black - love it
K3 ultra slim, amazing
Have the MX Mechanical at at work for six months. Ended up switching back to Keychron K2.
what keyboard is that @ 9:56 with the orange escape key?
I've been using the MX Mechanical Mini for about a year now and I really like it. It's my first mechanical keyboard in about 20 years. I was intending to get the MX Mini but the mechanical one felt much nicer to type on. I am curious about the Keychron and other boutique keyboards. Keychron seems to be one of the few manufacturers which also offers ISO layouts. One of the really nice things about the MX Mechanical Mini is the battery life. I think I've only charged it once in almost 12 months of owning it.
Great review! Points off for pronouncing it 'Aloominumm' though...
great job. i have the mx keys mini. and the mx mechanical. now i know exactly what i have. i have no regrets, but it's great to know all about how they fit into the whole scheme of things.
What is that 3rd keyboard? The chicklet one?
PBT or ABS plastic keys???
It is compatible with the Magic Mouse?
how is the latency with this keyboard? Fine for gaming too?
Does the aluminum match the space grey tone of the mx master 3 for Mac?
They make an extended version
Are you aware of the number of issues keychron keeps having?
Their customer service sucks, you might want to ask a few long term users around before concluding.
Is there a noticable difference between the Graphite and the Space Grey version? (in term of colors)
I have the Keychron K8 Pro and love it. I switch between a Windows and Mac machine daily so it has all the features of the logitech but with much greater customizability.
i just got my first mechanical keyboard - the keychron k2. total game-changer, i'm never going back to apple keyboards. i love the clicky sound so very, very much
this sh*ts all over the mx, not even close
Is there a quieter version for Keychron K6 Pro?
It does take a while getting used to standard profile keys after using membrane keyboards from Apple, but I think you’ll come to enjoy the satisfaction typing on a mechanical keyboard :)
…switches are a whole nightmare to go into, but to summarise:
* red = linear.
@@beanjeangreen great review my good sir. If i may, what about comparing this logitech keyboard with the Keychron low profile one?
Is it possible to leave the backlight on all the time if plugged into power?
Cam you use the windows keyboard on a mac?
Still seems the brown ones are too loud 😕
Can’t you change the backlight settings in the logo app to keep the light on longer??
what is the mouse in this video? and what mouses do people recommend for macs?
Did you mentioned low profile vs normal profile? Quite different too. MX series is low profile.
Off subject what r those lights you have in the back ground
Logitech still doesn't provide native support for the M1/M2 chip for many of their apps.
1. New Mac user
2. Use a Logitech vertical mouse (Lift or other larger vertical one if not travelling)
3. Writing is my business
4. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
5. Post-sales customer service for when I have a problem are paramount to me
6. Portability and pleasant *sound* are very close seconds (all in video are a bit too high-pitched for me, but 'brown' the best)
7. Tactile handgasm is valuable
8. Low or even moderate price is not a major consideration (in other words, I am willing to pay twice the price for the perfect keyboard)
9. Don't care about customisability
Additionally, how does one try out multiple kinds of keyboards without spending a lot of money and time?
Had my MX Mechanical Mini since August to upgeade up from the MX Keys Mini, I bought it to go with my MX 3s, I absolutely love both products.
what switches?
I was interested in this keyboard and, as an Italian user, I assumed that there was an Italian key layout like for all other Logitech keyboards! But no! It does not exist in Italian! Can anyone recommend me a good Bluetooth mechanical keyboard for my Mac mini? Prerequisites are Italian layout and for Macintosh.
I love the MX mini and MX 3s mouse. I have a PC and two macs that I have to switch between and using Flow to switch between them is worth it’s weight in gold.
Good review. I liked it specially because it is non bias. The internet is full of advertisers masked as youtubers.
Hello thanks for video, i have a question - why you changed almost perfect DELL U3223QE on LG? What exact model is it?
what about keychron k3 pro? is it better than mx mini mechanical?
I love lowprofile wireless keyboards. Honestly I cannot work on a normal profile keyboard. Plus I like the no nonsense experience with the features Logitech provides.
Dont the mac one come with unifying receiver if its not bolt? Is it bluetoith only?
Does this keyboard have mac/win switch button like on Keychrons?
Great vid mate! Can you do a comparison of the K855? I just got it yesterday, half the price (on sale at Harvey Normam for $119!) TKL also and very nice! Not sure why it hasn't been reviewed much yet... :)
Hi mate, how are you finding your K855? Is it still working well after a year?
@@congdao3444 It is great! Smaller footprint is excellent, however, the keys are a tiny bit smaller/closer together than a full size keyboard so it can take a bit of getting used to.
Please let me before buying Is there a difference if the M2 Pro with 12core 19gpu 16 core model is updated to 32GB ram instead of 16GB ram?
I do not have a light bar, and also it is distracting to have a glaring light overhead
There is a non mac version i assume? Can it switch windows and mac mode? Please?
I explain all of this in the video, make sure you check the time stamps for specific sections.
Still waiting for the full version
I have a keychron k5 SE. Basically a full size k3. Totally agree on the Bluetooth. Mine is plugged in all the time. However, I swapped out the keycaps too and that made a big difference with the typing experience.
why do all reviewers forget to talk about the gaming performance of this product?!
Because no one is buying a wireless productivity keyboard for gaming???
@@CreatedTech Still would have been good to see how it performs for people who might want to do both work and game.
If you haven't tried the G915 it's lightning or BT so not like the MX Keys (have one it's ok) or this but you can do dongle to your PC and BT to your Mac and switch back and forth.
it's outdated these days no keyboards come with micro usb to charge, also the keys are wobbly on 915
Wow a very nice video.Really high quality video are the things I love and you are one of the channel that fulfills it.
Keychron K2 ftw. I would highly recommend that Keyboard for the Mac. It's my daily driver, and I have 0 complaints.
just like to know how it works with macbook without trackpad.
For the price, it's not worth it. My only issue with magic keyboard 2 is the arrows. But should I buy a keychron instead of this mx.
i have a keychron, the my first mechanical keyboard after always having apple magic keyboards... it's incredible. just buy it.
I had this keyboard, its too tall, its not as comfortable to use as traditional mac keyboard AND, it doesnt have Touch ID. On battery with backlight, it only lasts about a week. So I returned it and bought official Magic Keyboard and never looked back.
well, Keychron K1 made mechanical keyboard for Mac for years now and it works great !!!
how long does the battery last?
A couple of months.
These keyboards are really expensive in India as compared to US. Thats the only reason many people including me dont go for it.
