I personally wish a little more updated research would've gone into this video. It's mentioned several times something along the lines of "I have hard times recommending logitech because romer-g" but romer-g switches have not been in logitech's mechanical keyboard releases in like...a while. They've been using just normal standard mechanical switches for a few years now, so I think it's unfair to continue to bring up something that hasn't been in their new product lineups for a while now
I was just at Microcenter the other day and there was only one Logitech keyboard that wasn't using either romer-g or rubber dome switches. Sure, maybe their new releases aren't using them anymore, but the vast majority of their existing product line that's widely available still does
Imagine if Plouffe knew that you can't use a MX Master wired. It only charges. Connection is always wireless. So he's been using wireless tech all this time!
The cable is not short as a MX master 3 user (over 10h daily for gaming as well) i can tell you that you need to charge this mouse once every 2 months for about an hour, with a 10% warning it still lasts a week so for that 1 hour you can put up with it or just connect it to a monitor or something that is closer to the mouse.
also no point in it being any longer as the mouse doesn't use it for connection, only charging. BUT still a longer wire never hurt nobody. BOTH HAVE THEIR PROS AND CONS.
@Michael Mazurczyk the point of mx master is to be comfortable while working. it is not a gaming mouse whatsoever, the extra 10-20ms latency means nothing for that purpose.
The unify dongle is legit, whenever we had remote employees who lose their dongles by mistake we can just have them pick up one with that icon and it's easy as hell.
I lost the dongle on a 70 EUR Microsoft keyboard once. Called support, told me to bin it. Haven't bought or advised anyone on anything but the Unifying dongle since then.
yea i had a logitech mx master 2s, lost the dongle after 5 years, dongle replacement was 30, so i just bought a 10$ unifying mouse and paired my mouse lol
the reason the mx stuff needs to be powered on when plugged in is because the port is just charging, they only use wireless, and that might be annoying, but in the years i've hav with the mx keyboard, with the old logi unifying receiver and the mx master 3, then with the mx keys mini and the newest logitech m650 (which also has silent clicks) witht he new logi bolt, never had issues with them.
oh yeah that also explains the short charging cable, it's not meant to be used as a normal cable, so it's short, i've got it coiled up under my monitor (i like to have my keyboard on full brightness because yes) so whenever i see a red blink i can just plug it in my hy hub for a couple of hours and i'm done
There's also a partly understandable (Altought they definetly could have easily just turn it off when cabled) reason why its only wireless. It needs to be in order to Flow to work, that stuff cant work whit a cabled mouse.
Something to note is that (at least with my mx master, the first gen of the newer line) the mouse is *only* wireless. Even if you plug it in the USB cable will only be used for charging
@@Im_too_old_for_this_shit the wireless is very, very good though. Genuinely. I daily drive an MX Master 3 at work, and an MX Master 2s at home. I can say with absolute confidence that you won't be disappointed if you use the dongle. Bluetooth can be a different story depending on your system. Plus, the batteries last months. 10/10 recommend these mice for productivity.
I have my computer right there, a cable has never bothered me, and I've never run out of batteries in a wired mouse or lost my wired mouse dongle. Plus you'd think one with less 'stuff' inside and without a dongle should be cheaper.
Honestly, I understand they review many products but this just looks such an absurd complaint. I understand it;s first impression but you have to be a bit more nuanced with such key elements.
When I first took mine out of the box I thought the short cable might be an issue. After using it, I agree that it's not a problem. You don't have to use it often and when you do it's only for an hour or so.
I think it's a problem in that it's kind of a useless cable. It is definitely too short for me to use while it's charging so I just use a different longer cable. It's effectively e-waste.
@@ianmcdonald4103 for me I love the length because I have a dock that sits on my desk and isn't far from my mouse. So a longer cable included for me would be too long and would be e waste. Also the mouse lasts for literal months if it's just for work, so you just plug it in using the short cable when you leave work one day and then you're set for the next few months
Unifying dongles have been around for a while. I used to work in desktop support and we had extra ones around to just pair with any logitech keyboard when a user lost their dongle again. It even works with their cheapo keyboards and you can even reflash the firmware on them. Good stuff.
But it's time we had a USB-C version as well! Why has Logitech dragged their feet for so long offering USB-C? It isn't like they'd need to change the unify chip inside the receiver, the USB-C connector is backward compatible to USB-A signalling, and there's nothing electrical that needs to be changed with the receiver to do this.
@@daveweinstein5044 I think the main problem is that all of the internal components of this USB-A adapter are literally inside the USB connector (I am talking about that plastic half of the USB connector which prevents inserting it the wrong way), there is almost nothing inside that black outer housing. Putting these components inside a USB-C connector is not possible because there is no space and manufacturers would have to make the outer case much larger, which means that it will stick out too much.
@@daveweinstein5044 yeah, usb-c version would be nice, but like @glebokator mentioned, it would need to be a little larger. I would even suggest to have em built into some laptops, but honestly having the little dongles is great when you have stationary keyboards that people connect their various machines to. E.g. meeting rooms or in my case lab environments.
@@danielka3583 @glebokator I haven't looked inside a Unify adapter in a long time, but even years ago the chip wasn't that big, and you'd be surprised at how little space there is around the USB-A edge connector that you could use. I'm guessing that newer iterations of the chip have been reduced in size (as a well as super-integrated with what used to be external components) as part of cost reduction measures. That, plus the fact that Logitech are masters of industrial design, should make it possible to make a newer USB-C version that is as small as possible.
Cheapest ones do not have Unify dongle, just some one-off basic one. My problem is that in my corner in my flat I have constant issues -> the frequency is shared with bunch of stuff like headphones, garage openers, car keys etc. and somehow something is completely screwing up the signal. Only solution is to use bluetooth.
One thing about keycaps. It's true that you can swap them to any Cherry MX style keycaps... except for spacebar. Spacebar has proprietary stab positioning which makes any other spacebar incompatible with this keyboard, which is really sad cuz I wanted to put my Akko ASA Retro on Mini :(
I don't think any "normal" keycaps would work though because of the low-profile switches. I have a low-profile mecha keyboard and they're much shorter than any normal keycaps, especially when you press the buttons
You guys seem to know a lot about mechanical keyboards and I have never purchased one. I figured out which one I do want to purchase but I don't know which keycaps to choose. It's a logitech g915 I don't want clicky I don't think but I'm unsure between linear and tactile. Their website says linear is better for double clicking and tactile is better for FPS but it sounds like garbage to me. Would I not be able to double click with tactile as fast? Would tactile give me sort of a cushion for my hand to rest on without accidental clicks? Any help would be much appreciated!
@@EikottXD You can order a switch tester for like $8 USD on amazon, imo its worth it to see what you like before purchasing. Just keep in mind the g915 isn't hot swappable and uses low profile switches.
The logitech MX line has been consistently good for years now, still got my old MX anywhere 2 that still runs perfectly fine and I rarely have to charge. Would definitely like to get that mini keyboard, love the aesthetic.
As someone with multiple Keychron, Cannon Keys, and KBDfans keyboards I think these keyboards are amazing for your everyday person that may be a hybrid or work from home worker that is not an enthusiast that needs a good quality keyboard and doesn’t want the hassle and frills of connecting and disconnecting cables as they move their work station.
If flow could actually hand over control using the dongles alone it would be really useful, but as it is it completely unnecessarily relies on having a network connection between the devices which makes it the same sh*t as every other software solution. All I want is "screen edge X activates device N on mouse Y and device O on keyboard Z", the software doesn't need to know anything about what those devices are up to after the switch.
Connect to Windows via dongle and to Mac via bluetooth. Mine has switch devices(connection method actually) button on top, so its more convenient than flipping over mouse.
I kid you not... I commented on an LTT video (reacting to our most profitable videos) asking what Keyboard they were using... and then this video appeared with that same keyboard
@@ZesPak yes, so can use it while it's charging, but it's not sending the data via USB. If you turn the bluetooth off on your device, or unplug your dongle depending on how you use it wirelessly, it will stop working. Feel free to try it for yourself.
Nope, got the 3 and no wired connection. He has no clue that the cable is just a placebo cable... At least he never ever gonna need to charge that mouse.
@@nankinink If he's been leaving in plugged in all this time, the battery is probably shot. It's a damn shame when it bought the mouse that he didn't do 2 minutes of research (or just read the manual that comes with it).
Being able to instantly switch between 3 devices on bluetooth is a game changer for me with the mx mouse. Also, it kills me not having the calculator button above the num pad on other keyboards. Like really bad phantom limb.
5:20 Clicky is not the same as tactile. Go check gif animations of an MX Brown (tactile) switch vs an MX Blue (Clicky). They are in fact different and the clicky does provide an extra feedback hump on the click
I dont know about the new MX mice, but my first gen MX only charges via cable. It still communicates everything by wireless. And suddenly die on you? The battery of the first gen lasts like 2 months for me. And warns you ferociously when there is like 5 % left. So it wont just die on you.
yeah dude is weird. also this is obviously a corporate mouse. just slam a 7000x price increase on it for a random extra scroller. I'd rather use a razor naga or something with a lot of buttons for business applications.
@@John-lw7bz A) it is not that expensive compared to any other high end mice. In fact, compared to the ridiculously over priced gaming mice that are coming out now, it is even decent. B) the thumb scroll-wheel is amazing for office work. C) however, I would love a combo of the mx and the naga. At work I miss the extra buttons from my gaming mouse, but at home (where I also do some work) I do miss the thumb scroll-wheel. They could add the extra index finger buttons from the G502 for example. And perhaps two additional on the side for the thumb
@@Wistbacka it's pretty pricey when compared with a CAD mouse from 3Dconnexion, like built-in hotkeys for application commands and radial menu to select a command within your environment. I know the MX is programmable but it's not possible to get similar functionality with logitech products (I've tried). It's pretty much only good for office / coding but even then a professional mouse have more options for environment specific commands.
"I like feet" -Plouffe I've been using an ergonomic mouse and keyboard for the past few years and they're the only thing that keeps the pain away and stays connected to my computer!
Thank you for reviewing these keyboards. First for doing both (full and mini) and for selecting all the different key switch type on all the units. Also for basing the review for those that work mostly and game some on their gear. It was an excellent view of the equipment, one that I share. I game but not competitive and "good enough" for gaming is perfect for me. Nice job LTT.
I don't know if I'm remembering this right but I thought I read that master3 doesn't actually work as a wired mouse, it still requires the receiver to work when charging
I recently picked up an MX Master 3S mouse from Amazon when they had it on sale. I'm really liking it. My previous mouse was the Logitech G502 Hero. The 3S is the first wireless mouse I've used and it was totally painless to install using the included dongle. The magspeed scrollwheel makes it super convienient navigate long webpages and the sidescroll is great to use as a volume control. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but I can recommend it 100%. The only issue could be for people with small hands. The mouse is pretty chonky.
Logitech really stepped up the wireless linking game. No idea if its super fast for gaming but for general "plug it in and it works", they got it perfect.
and the wireless devices run forever. I have a 3s mouse and the wireless (backlit!) mx keys keyboard on arch btw. Charging only every few month, and you get a notification way before they go out. The switching between devices is a great feature. the Mouse and the keyboard can be linked and switched to 3 devices. But the runtime specially for a wireless backlit keyboard is what seperates logitech from other brands. The linux software package is great and another big plus
For gaming, everyone except perhaps the very top "esports" players will find these are perfectly fine for gaming. I reached master guardian elite in CSGO using an MX 2S, and I know getting a gaming mouse would not have made it any better, as the bottleneck by that point was my own reaction times, not the mouse's.
"Hot Swap" is a keyboard nerd feature that normal, mortal, civilians do not GAF about and will never, ever, evvverrr use. If my packed-in membrane keyboards are functioning after 10 or 15 years, then a premium keyboard should be able to handle that without any problems.
I have the MX Master 3 mouse and keys (previous version to these), and their software has gotten so much better with the Logi Options+, having the mouse and keyboard paired to multiple devices and then having 'Flow' turned on has been huge for work. Love just moving over to the edge of my screen and transferring from my personal computer to my work computer, also handy to copy + paste from one device to another.
The problem with that combo, in case of the MINI version, if you use the dongle, the mx MINI keyboard uses Bolt and the MX 3 uses the Unifying. So two dongles, since Bolt is not "backwards" compatible with Unifying. This doesn't happen with the full size MX Keys, which uses the Unifyng dongle.
In the video he kept mention about how frustrating using wire, ess devices, my guess is he is connecting with Bluetooth, I've been using wireless mouse for more than few years, never had any problem when using their 2.4ghz dongle across 4 or 5 brands
Funny that he mentions his luck with wireless tech while also saying he uses an mx master in the office and an mx anywhere at home, cuz they all only charge when plugged in and just operate wirelessly anyway lmao
Personally I like the improved sensor but feel that the original clickyness feels the best. One thing I'd love them to improve in this mouse is the accuracy of the vertical scroll wheel, because it can be a little all over the place sometimes
RomerG was a complete trainwreck. I thought the feel was okay but they just fell apart waay too fast. There’s a reason why they stopped selling them.. and it’s been quite a while. I think they call them “tactile quiet” ‘cause this keyboard is for people who have professional-tools money to spend but aren’t complete keyboard heads. People just want to know which one is the quiet one.
I was considering swapping my Keychron K3 v2 for the MX Mechanical Mini, but the price difference and the lack of a hot-swappable option are a deal breaker for me... Nice board, though, those browns look like they feel great to type on, and Logitech's proximity sensor for the backlight is a godsend for battery life
A small thing I really love about the master mouse: the thumb rest has a button on the bottom that you can also reprogram. I've setup mine so it acts as another control key. Really nice for when I'm trying to control click somthing.
Wish they would have talked about the gesture controls on the mx master 3. Super cool functionality that gives you trackpad like controls plus all the buttons of a mouse. These have been my daily drivers for about 3 months now.
i suggested an mx trackpad on the logitech forum, i think it would fit the suite quite well since the only good trackpad is the one from apple, i think an logitech mx trackpad would go well, i would certainly use it, with option+ it would allow to custom gestures maybe so it'd be super cool
Recently bought the MX Keys + Master 3 to use it with Windows PC and Mac simultaneously and the Logitech Flow performs pretty poorly. Takes a few attempts for the mouse to flow between my monitors, sometimes does not flow at all and sometimes only the mouse switches to device 1, but the keyboard is still used for device 2 so I need to manually press the device switch keys. It does not even remember the brightness level, I need to manually set it every time. The design is very nice though and I love typing on that keyboard. I still need to use 3rd party software (Synergy) to guarantee smooth flow.
@@StarfoxHUN I've seen multiple forum threads where users complained about the same problem, but there was no clear solution. Also tried it with hotkey, didn't change the result. But I don't really mind it as I'm also using Synergy and it works great.
While you should sometimes take the battery life time with a grain of salt, I have the G613, and it claimed 18 months and at the moment I'm at 16 months on the same batteries.
Here's one thing I'd love to see you investigate - ergonomic gaming peripherals - so things like split gaming keyboards, vertical mice, etc. Where can we get something nice and comfortable to use for not stupid money?
The new quiet 3s is definitely my favorite feature. Their new Lift seems to be even quieter though. Unfortunately with the keyboard it seems like the tactile quiet and normal linear switches are the same loudness in clicks
Why get hardware with such interesting new features like glass tracking and cross machine pairing, then completely ignore those features in testing? I was excited to see how the glass tracking performed on the mouse.
I have the regular MX Master 3 and it tracks fine on glass. I do have a mousepad on my glass desk, but it's not problem on the glass. I don't know why Logitech is acting like that's a new feature, I've had mice for 10 years that could track on glass. I also use the cross machine pairing daily to switch between a personal and work computer, which works flawlessly. I was really excited by the keyboard because I've been wanting a wireless mechanical keyboard that doesn't rely on bluetooth. I was disappointed though because the new Bolt receiver isn't cross compatible with the older Unifying receiver of the Master 3. I was hoping to use the two receivers for my two machines so I didn't have to use bluetooth at all.
I gave the Master 2S and 3 a try.. even for a so-called multimedia and work mouse, I couldn't get used to the polling rate. Ergonomically speaking I expected a lot more, too. The high-spot where your palm rests is way too pointy for my taste. The features are definitely nice. Wish it had 1000 Hz polling and a more rounded shape (like a mix between it and the MX518). Positioning of the side-buttons and horizontal scroll wheel aren't perfect either. Gotta give it a few more iterations I guess. 8000 DPI with 125 Hz? Lmfao
The polling rate is my only major complaint about my 2S. It's totally fine for everyday work on my laptop, but I CANNOT use it for games. Not because it's uncomfortable or lack of side buttons, but because a polling rate lower than your refresh rate (165Hz monitor) literally means stale frames. It causes some FPSs to seemingly micro-stutter, but it's literally just because every ~4th frame registers as no mouse movement...
Yup, and when you re doing PS/AI work and need to do micro adjustments it just sucks. You literally see mouse skipping pixels. But I am kinda over it because infinity scroll, side scroll and thumb button are so deeply incorporated in my workflow so much that I cant even do work without them. My 2S had thumb button stuck and therefore stopped working and I used wired 1000Hz Steelseries mouse, and OMG, the difference is so noticeable. But on the other hand, the amount of manual work I had to do due to lack of extra buttons was huge. It's a shame, Id be happy to sacrifice battery life for higher polling rate.
I absolutely love my MX master 2s to death. Im at the point that when I use other peoples mice, It just feels like crap by comparison. As far as the keyboards im a scissor key guy so I hope to get the MX keys which people often say is even better than the macbook scissor switches. I dont get the appeal of mechanical switches for work use. Too loud and too much key travel for me personally. Besides for gaming what do you guys like about mechanicals that I am missing?
@@herohour6496 im confused if this is a troll? like im glad if people like it but you cant use it while its charging, its overpriced, too flat, no extra buttons, its apples only mouse and I think you meant MacOS
@@kairyonaznable20 u charge once in 6 months. no buttons means it is futuristic and works magically. life isn't all buttons. life is working simplicity and making big money.
@@herohour6496 lol but when that "once" comes in the middle of my work session im screwed. buttons means more control and tactile control at that. I make big money with my many buttons.
I'm still waiting for the possibility to switch both the mouse and the keyboard when switching to another device with the keyboard. It is such a pain having to use the button on the back of the mouse each time
I concur that....this is the reason i am on M590 to switch between 2 laptops due to work constraints with switch on top and it takes like less than a second to make switch.
Isn't that what Logitech's Flow technology is for? Flow is like a KVM (minus the V), while it doesn't switch your video, it does offer an interesting drag-and-drop functionality by dragging a file between to monitors (systems) that are using Flow. I don't know what the extent of their drag and drop implementation is, they clearly say that it lets you copy file, but doesn't say anything about highlighting text or images and dragging them, cutting and pasting, or clipboard support. Clearly a deeper dive is needed. What do you think LMG? Is it worth getting Logitech to sponsor a video about their Flow software?
@@daveweinstein5044 Third part installation on corporate devices will be blocked and you can not take full benefits of FLOW. So yeah kind of works from scenario to scenarios and hence multiple options in market. Most of time you will need to connect to device at home or office so switch at bottom works.
Typing on my brand new MX Mechanical Mini and I have to say this thing is awesome, has everything I've always wanted in a mechanical keyboard from the color to the size to the wireless capability. I've had a Logitech G Pro that I've been using for work and several other mechanical keyboards but this one is definitely my favorite. Much less flashy and raises less questions at the office lol but still mechanical which is a must. Even though it's the clicky blue switches too it's still considerably quieter than my other mechanical keyboards, perfect amount of volume in my book.
I have the MX mechanical mini with tactile brown switches and I love it! The backlight turns on automatically when it senses your hands above the keyboard (no need to touch it!) which is really cool and battery life is just exemplary - lasts for over a week with backlight on.
One of the issues I have as well as a lot of other people have is that you can't customize the backlight on/off time. People have been asking Logitech to add it forever now.
I got their first mouse with the sensor that could track on glass while I was working on-site support for a managed services IT company, being able to trust that your mouse works anywhere was amazing. I don't get why people hate Romer-G switches, though, they type and game great and were rated for 20m more presses than the Cherrys that were available when they launched. I'll note that the next step up from this board is probably the G915, which gets you customizable G keys, media controls, and individual-key RGB.
Man the amount of research before this video was abysmal. Really excited for the lab and hopefully the quality of the videos (content wise) and presenters get better👀
Well, the point of this channel is unboxing, whuch us usually done without much prep to capture the initial reaction. Also, I too can't wait for the Lab to start churning out videos.
I actually like the cable not being unnecessarily long. This is the perfect length for me, and you only need to charge it like once a month anyway so... what's the problem exactly. 2:25, annoying... how? Why would you ever turn it off unless you're like traveling with it?
Speaking of Logitech keyboards, I recently picked up a Logitech G915 Lightspeed, and while it was a bit pricey, (I got mine renewed, which ended up saving me like $100) and I absolutely love it. I've never had a mechanical keyboard, and especially nothing quite like this.
man i switched from my K65 LUX to the G915 TKL recently and I absolutely love it. It's sleek, smart and the battery lasts for ages if you turns the RGB off, plus the convenience of having a wireless gaming mouse AND keyboard just cannot be matched. Also helps that I personally prefer the tactile switches on my g915 over the cherry reds on my old keyboard by a lot.
@@danandrei96 I was really surprised when I turned off the RGB and saw the hours jump up so high!!! I knew it would've been more but WOW, what a difference. Speaking of RGB, I've never been a huge fan of it, but after getting this keyboard I completely get the craze. I currently have my keyboard rgb show the bi flag :)
@@ineedpineapples yeah crazy how battery life goes from like a few days to nearly 2 months with the lights off. The RGB is very pretty for sure (especially since i have the white g915) but I'm keeping it off for now until I sort out a clean run for my charging cable
I also used to dislike wireless productivity stuff in fear of running out of juice. However, I have the MX Master 3S and I only have to charge it maybe once every two months. It's fine, honestly! Easy recommendation for people that do any kind of prolonged worksheet editing, Adobe suite stuff or even web based stuff.
This would have been such a perfect mouse if not for the rubber coating that turns into goop in a year and the terrible pointy-ended mouse feets that peels off ways too easily. (And if logitech finally adds hand-written Macro support to the software)
My MX Master 2S feet as fine still after 4 years of intensive usage on the most different surfaces. And the rubber is easy to clean with alcohol and towels and feeld as good as new afterwards
@@kkon5ti Well gfy, i dont know if 2S have different than 3, but 3's feet definetly crap, because pointy-ended stickers just always peels off much easier than round-ended. And the rubber's main problem is not just that it's dirty, but that it just smoothens out in the most used places. You can't help that whit cleaning, Hell, that's just make this process faster
I've used the MX Master 1 mouse by Logi for 6 years. They have tons of features, but the moment you start using it day to day, problems emerge. Within the first 2 weeks of buying the mouse, the vertical scroll wheel got stuck in freespin mode. I had to open the mouse up and repair it, then set it to rachet mode permanently to prevent it from getting stuck again. I few weeks later, I noticed the bluetooth connection is sketchy, to the point where your cursor is stuttering all over your screen. I fixed that by using the USB dongle it comes with rather than bluetooth. Fast forward to today, when I kid you not 10 minutes ago my mouse is no longer able to move the cursor, but the buttons still work. A quick google reveals that the thumb button is now permanently stuck in the activated position. So now I need to open the mouse up again, and fix the thumb button. ALSO, the Logi Options app which allows you to disable freespin us really buggy. You need that app to disable freespin. Without it, the mouse immediately reverts back to enabling freespin. Do not get this mouse, all the MX Master models have similar issues. Find something else.
the keyboard and mouse should connect with each other so when you change the connection through the keyboard you do not need to lift the mouse and press the button on the bottom to get to the different connection
The only thing I wanted from the MX Master 3s was onboard memory so that it didn't rely on drivers to work properly. Seems Logitech didn't bother with that though. I'd love to get a Logitech keyboard but they don't offer Touch ID...
I've a Logitech 703 Lightspeed with the powerplay mat and I love it. The mat keeps the battery above 60% all the time (averaging around 80%) and it acts as the dongle. So it's effectively a wired mouse, without having to worry about the wire. I did have to source some 3mm cork board for underneath my keyboard, but I think 4mm might've been more suitable for my tastes. Then of course I have a Northern Lights mouse pad covering everything
Be careful saying regular cherry keycaps will fit the board. I would be surprised if they will, almost certainly they'll bottom out on the plate or clip on each other in some fashion. Nuphy keycaps or other low profiles might work.
I just really wish their new mx master had onboard storage. Its really a dealbreaker for me not being able to permanently disable their “smart” scrolling without installing their software (can’t install the software on every pc I switch between)
It's really surprising how much a little thing like onboard memory matters once you've used a device that has it, it's _really_ hard to go back to devices that require you set them up on every PC you connect them to.
Thanks for the insight! You just saved me from buying the Master 3S, now trying to get G604 instead. I connect to other people's PCs often so this an essential feature really.
I wonder if the extra press with clickies that Plouffe mentioned could be the click itself. Like you get the bump + the click. I personally prefer a 4 degree angle on my G815. The 8 degree angle puts too much pressure on my fingers. 'Flat', the G815 has a very subtle angle, whereas the MX Mechanical is at a much bigger angle. Perhaps it's already at 4 degrees out of the box? The switches from the G815/G915 were based on Kalilh's old low-profile switches. They are fine, but they can be wobbly. I'd expect these circular models (likely also based on Kailh's) to be more stable when pressed.
I'm still amazed how much positive feedback the MX Master 3 mouse gets. It really is an amazing mouse and I 100% recommend it. So worth the price! My only complaints are: Horizontal scrolling doesn't always work as it should. Adding some apps for custom profiles isn't as easy as I wish it were.
I have the OG master mouse, been using it for 6 years and only charge it once every 2-3 months, it's insane, i am upgrading to the 3S so i can have usb C and the other things it offers, but i've never once regretted buying it. As for the keyboards, not all logitech ones use their own one, when i recommend keyboards to friends, i tell them to go to a store and try it in store, and here are the brands i can stand behind, switch is a personal preference.
Really the only meaningful reason for logitech keyboard i think is to make Flow work much better. Its pretty good when you have mouse only already, but its hard to remember to use a different keyboard when the mouse is on the other device, Happened whit me multiple times already that i just moved my mouse to the laptop, and used the keyboard connected to the pc and surprised its not working
One unique feature of the MX keyboards not mentioned: It's the only keyboard I've tried that switches automatically between a Mac and Windows layout. There's no layout switch or modifier remapping in the OS. It just works, which is really great for anyone pairing with Windows and Mac simultaneously.
I felt that they were being a bit negative with the whole review. They complained about the cable size when it was an average if not usable size. They complained about it being wireless because they "fear" that one day it'll go wrong??? Or are the mouse clicks not being "perfect"? I don't know.
The MX Keys mini has been my go-to for a portable keyboard. It's been amazing and also has logi bolt connectivity so I can enter the filevault password on a mac mini when it boots.
Even I, who will randomly feel like typing on a different switch for a while, would rather just... have those switches soldered into a separate keyboard. If you're really going to be diving into the mechanical keyboard hobby I can't help but feel like hot-swap is a lame half measure.
@@Blutzen I can see that it is easier to replace failed switch, but only switches that I've seen failed were Outemu on the cheapest keyboards on the market and those will newer have hot swap switches. I've never encountered failed Cherry switch, and even if I need to replace it, I'm not paying extra just in case I might need to solder one in the next 5 years.
@@Quettesh Even that doesn't make sense for hot-swap, because you're going to be seeing switch failure _so_ rarely that you can just... desolder the switch from the board and resolder a new one in. Solder isn't permanent, it just makes it annoying to change things. On the other hand, as a rhythm gamer on my PC I have seen a _number_ of hot-swap *sockets themselves* fail because the person dared swap switches too many times (we're talking in the neighborhood of 10-20) so I genuinely don't see the point of them.
@@Blutzen Yep, never saw the point in it. If you're buying a keyboard, buy the one with the switches you want. If you want to switch your switches, just buy a barebones that you have to assemble yourself to begin with. The switches fail so rarely that it's just a minor inconvenience if they do (unless you buy a suuuuper cheap keyboard).
This video at about 10:40 made it seem like it is possible to use the MX Master 3S Mouse with the Older Unifying Receiver. Can someone confirm if this is correct. I have a work computer, where the old Unifying receiver works and needs to stay connected because they will not allow us to download new software for the Logi Bolt.
My favorite keyboard is the Logitech K740, but it's got a really bad roll-over problem and it's hard to clean. Is there a mechanical keyboard with a similar feel?
I dont really like to listen to him. Don't know.. Just boring.. Turned it off after 5min. I'm not trying to hate. But the other people at LMG are just more unique and funny or something. He is just an average dude. Nothing wrong with that. But it doesn't made me wanne stay and listen
I have used the MX Master 3 for gaming and it works out great. While most of the games I play are strategy, 4X and simulation games, the mouse doesn't have any weird latency when using Bluetooth. And it you want almost zero latency, you can use the wireless dongle.
Wtf wrong with this guy? starting the video complaining about everything. I mean really about the cable? Like where are you trying to plug your cable lamoo!
It'd be rad to see a shortcircuit on Tilt Five and/or similar 'hologram' interactive technologies! I keep seeing advertisements and they've almost sold me.
would have liked a full review, this feels more like a quick unboxing :) Does the Keyboard remain in bluetooth mode while connected via Usb, or does it then act like a real wired model? If you are using keyboard and mouse together, does the mouse also switch PCs if you switch the keyboard connection via these 3 pairing keys? Infos like if its actually practical using it with a mac? Any other minor things like why is there no print button? Is the back light evenly spread out, or still kinda spotty, so some areas appear brighter than others? Does the light go to sleep when the keyboard is not used? As I have no idea about switches what can i expect with that cherry brown feel to the tactical one? Maybe some comparisons, like a close up shot comparing this slim cap design to a full height one, just to get an idea. Also maybe a bit too individual and personal preference, but coming from mainly using onboard laptop keys, Macbook and Dell XPS whats the version to go with, tactical or linear? And finally doesnt it collect dust like crazy? I imagine it getting dusty very quickly, whereas on non low-profile designed mechinal keyboards the dust would vanish between the caps, so you at least dont have to look at it :)
I personally wish a little more updated research would've gone into this video. It's mentioned several times something along the lines of "I have hard times recommending logitech because romer-g" but romer-g switches have not been in logitech's mechanical keyboard releases in like...a while. They've been using just normal standard mechanical switches for a few years now, so I think it's unfair to continue to bring up something that hasn't been in their new product lineups for a while now
If that's true...good comment! Still nice video ofc
Hear hear, that’s pretty sloppy from LTT
I was just at Microcenter the other day and there was only one Logitech keyboard that wasn't using either romer-g or rubber dome switches. Sure, maybe their new releases aren't using them anymore, but the vast majority of their existing product line that's widely available still does
They are far from caring at all. Way too often it seems that their review is only an unboxing without any research.
@@ggm-i8y yeah I never watch these for anything but entertainment
Imagine if Plouffe knew that you can't use a MX Master wired. It only charges. Connection is always wireless. So he's been using wireless tech all this time!
As a Master 3 user myself, I had this same thought!
mind:blown
But wireless doesn’t work!! /s
Tricked, backstabbed, and quite possibly, bamboozled
That's why he said the wire was too short lol because he couldn't use it wired with such a short cable.
100% agree the battery on the mx master is insane some times i forget that i have to chartge it
If you’re gaming for 10 hours a day, have you looked into the their powerplay stuff? Haven’t charged my 903 in 4 years.
@Michael Mazurczyk the point of mx master is to be comfortable while working. it is not a gaming mouse whatsoever, the extra 10-20ms latency means nothing for that purpose.
@Michael Mazurczyk Well the mouse is not for playing games
The unify dongle is legit, whenever we had remote employees who lose their dongles by mistake we can just have them pick up one with that icon and it's easy as hell.
I lost the dongle on a 70 EUR Microsoft keyboard once. Called support, told me to bin it.
Haven't bought or advised anyone on anything but the Unifying dongle since then.
yea i had a logitech mx master 2s, lost the dongle after 5 years, dongle replacement was 30, so i just bought a 10$ unifying mouse and paired my mouse lol
This is the new bolt dongle, It doesn't work with unifi, however it will be same as unifi as you can connect as many devices you want to it
@@imreallydamntired LOL same here, bought a K230 for less than 10$ and call it a day.
They should’ve made it BC with Unifying, now we gotta have 2 dongles in if they don’t match.
the reason the mx stuff needs to be powered on when plugged in is because the port is just charging, they only use wireless, and that might be annoying, but in the years i've hav with the mx keyboard, with the old logi unifying receiver and the mx master 3, then with the mx keys mini and the newest logitech m650 (which also has silent clicks) witht he new logi bolt, never had issues with them.
oh yeah that also explains the short charging cable, it's not meant to be used as a normal cable, so it's short, i've got it coiled up under my monitor (i like to have my keyboard on full brightness because yes) so whenever i see a red blink i can just plug it in my hy hub for a couple of hours and i'm done
That is not correct. I can use my MX Vertical without receiver and just cable.
@@0Iceman228 oh i guess i've never seen it since i was not interested, but indeed there is a 3rd method to use that mouse, which is cabled
@@0Iceman228 can you? It doesn't work for me, on a brand new laptop it just didn't do anything until I paired it with Bluetooth.
Logitech wireless is solid, I've never had issues with it, unlike Razer.
this is my biggest gripe with my mx master 3. It makes no sense for it to only work wireless
Man... that's really a letdown.
Yeah logitech wireless is pretty good so I don't think that's a real issue since you can still use it wired charging
It's weird that Plouffe has such an apprehension against wireless stuff, I've never had any problem and I've been using wireless devices for years
I have my computer right there, a cable has never bothered me, and I've never run out of batteries in a wired mouse or lost my wired mouse dongle. Plus you'd think one with less 'stuff' inside and without a dongle should be cheaper.
The funny thing too is he’s been using the mouse wirelessly this whole time. Plugging it in only charges, it doesn’t transmit any data via the wire.
I don't use wireless anything except my cell phone. I despise the tech, especially in music equipment.
I haven’t had any issues either. Mostly like wireless mice and keyboards because I don’t have to awkwardly organize cables through my desk.
Personal preference, nothing more. I use wireless at work because of awkward desk arrangement but all wired at home.
There is no way he has ever used a MX Master mouse because complaining about cable lenght on one of these is absurd.
@@ianmcdonald4103 at least it’s a standard connector so you could use it on other devices if you wanted to
@@ianmcdonald4103 for me I love the length because I have a dock that sits on my desk and isn't far from my mouse.
Spacebar has proprietary stab positioning which makes any other spacebar incompatible with this keyboard, which is really sad cuz I wanted to put my Akko ASA Retro on Mini :(
Thanks!
It's a logitech g915
I don't want clicky I don't think but I'm unsure between linear and tactile. Their website says linear is better for double clicking and tactile is better for FPS but it sounds like garbage to me. Would I not be able to double click with tactile as fast? Would tactile give me sort of a cushion for my hand to rest on without accidental clicks? Any help would be much appreciated!
@@RinoAP help a brotha out 🤘🏻
@@EikottXD You can order a switch tester for like $8 USD on amazon, imo its worth it to see what you like before purchasing. Just keep in mind the g915 isn't hot swappable and uses low profile switches.

I knew someone else would catch that lol
Could Plouffe, Alex and Kyle host a video where they make a keyboard from scratch (PCB design, custom case etc?).
I think it would make great content.
Great video idea
Yeah, that sounds great! Would love to see that!
You're the one!
Yeah and share the pcb design if it's any good. would be a pretty fun video or a project as well
+1 on this idea! It would put their CAD design and CNC tools to great use!

Which one is your favorite? Keychron, Cannonkeys or KBDfans
I wanted to see their logi flow technology in action using those. Having 2 separate work laptops this can be so useful!
seems they forgot this important integrated feature...
Use mouse over borders. It's a windows garage app. I have the logi flow with these and it sucks compared to that.
Tried that on Windows and Mac with MX Master 3 mouse. Didn't work at all.
Unless it changed for the MX3 the MX2 which I own cannot be used "wired", it's for charging only.
I've got a master 2S and can definitely use it while charging.
You can program any button on your mx to open calculator!
Some people are just "wired" that way, lol. Based on past experiences likely.

Love just moving over to the edge of my screen and transferring from my personal computer to my work computer, also handy to copy + paste from one device to another.
hope it is better than what I'm using cuz it wakes up my other devices when I'm only using 1
The problem with that combo, in case of the MINI version, if you use the dongle, the mx MINI keyboard uses Bolt and the MX 3 uses the Unifying.
Getting unbiased and relevant review is difficult since every pro or geek will try to bring their own prejudices and favourites into it
Funny that he mentions his luck with wireless tech while also saying he uses an mx master in the office and an mx anywhere at home, cuz they all only charge when plugged in and just operate wirelessly anyway lmao

It might sound like a small improvement,
but the silent click and more accurate sensor really are what this mouse needed. Pure perfection.
Yeah. Romer g felt pretty good but the quality is extremely unacceptable. It just seem like logitech cheap out on the quality of the romer g switch.
They still sell Omron switched keyboards.
Well, the linears are much quieter than the tactile quiets, so that doesn't make much sense.
I was considering swapping my Keychron K3 v2 for the MX Mechanical Mini, but the price difference and the lack of a hot-swappable option are a deal breaker for me... Nice board, though, those browns look like they feel great to type on, and Logitech's proximity sensor for the backlight is a godsend for battery life
out of curiousity, why would you want to switch? Typing it on my K3 v2
Honestly the NuPhy Air75 is the only keyboard I’d swap my K3 v2 for.
Buy the Keychain K1, it shape is really good.
A small thing I really love about the master mouse: the thumb rest has a button on the bottom that you can also reprogram. I've setup mine so it acts as another control key. Really nice for when I'm trying to control click somthing.
"its a minor annoyance that doesn't matter that much" pretty much sums up this person.
Ooooh yes! And imagine it working across Windows and macOS and ChromeOS.
Our company would bite logitechs hand off for a trackpad it's something I've been asking our rep about for ages
Literally all I want is an ergonomic replacement for the anti-ergonomic magic mouse. My mousing hand is wrecked from using it.
They had one with glass and gesture support. Logitech Rechargeable Touchpad T650. It was made in 2012. No new version atm.
Who the hell would want to be forced to use a trackpad when they have the option of a mouse...
Would like to see hot swap keys becoming more standard. Especially on boards this expensive. One switch dies and the whole thing ends up in the bin.

I use it too, never had this issue, can be just a product failure? Also you can put Flow to a hotkey too, that might works much more reliable
@@StarfoxHUN I've seen multiple forum threads where users complained about the same problem, but there was no clear solution.

While you should sometimes take the battery life time with a grain of salt, I have the G613, and it claimed 18 months and at the moment I'm at 16 months on the same batteries.
I'm usually out of power in 1 month. I use magic mouse. it sucks batteries like crazy
Why are you talking so much about Romer-G switches? They don't use them on new keyboards for many years.
I was hoping to use the two receivers for my two machines so I didn't have to use bluetooth at all.
glass tracking is actually really old tech (from when Laser mouses first came out) so it isn't really advertised any more.
@@flandrble rollerball mice didn’t have much of a problem with glass either ;)
@11:00 You didn't know that you could add multiple devices to Logitech's *unifiying* receiver technology? :D
Besides for gaming what do you guys like about mechanicals that I am missing?
try magic mouse, it's so expensive and futuristic and well made. it's apple's best mouse and it's a must for iOS users.
@@herohour6496
Magic mouse is e waste. Literally slow as hell and horrible ergonomic and build. Why do you even use that trash.
the problem with logi bolt is that it interferes with unifying, so you have to use either bolt or unifying or otherwise both are hampering eachother.
I have normal MX keys and the hand detection is horribly unreliable.
The scene with linus handling switches at 0:10, where is it from? I don't think I have seen the video.
I used a mechanical MX red Asus keyboard for 3-4 years and switched to the G915 tactile. I just love it!
man i switched from my K65 LUX to the G915 TKL recently and I absolutely love it.
Been a fan of the mouse for many years, finally ordered the keyboard. Early xmas present i guess :-)
First mechanical keyboard so I can’t compare but it feels so sturdy compared to the weightless Apple keyboard and sounds very nice.
@@IgorEngelen1974 Did you get the linear or tactile?
@@RaizenFenix tactile
1:55 fyi Bluetooth LE or low energy is part of the Bluetooth spec, not rly marketing fluff which is how you kinda make it sound
Or put the button on the side.

bro, i had the same sentiments when I was thinking of adopting to wireless, but ever since i went away with the cables, wireless is the way to go
The only thing I wanted from the MX Master 3s was onboard memory so that it didn't rely on drivers to work properly. Seems Logitech didn't bother with that though.
I'd love to get a Logitech keyboard but they don't offer Touch ID...
That's actually insane my $30 logi g302 has onboard profile...
On board memory would've been really nice. I would've upgraded otherwise.
Why does the „I hate Wireless Tech“-Host unbox Wireless Tech? Too much negativity from the start imo.
I'm just confused why they make a big deal about the silent mouse when its paired with a noisy mechanical leyboard rather than the quieter MX Keys
I hope they do a USB-C logibolt soon. Logitech is always behind on the connector types...
My only complaints are:
Horizontal scrolling doesn't always work as it should.
Adding some apps for custom profiles isn't as easy as I wish it were.
I love hearing different perspectives. I think Logitech tactile "browns" are the best switches out there for overall use. Thanks for the video.
They are kalith choc v2 and are really good and not as bad as cheery browns..
"Clickies feel the same as tactiles."
- LTT "Keyboard Enthusiast"
Had an original MX Master since last October and charged it twice in that time (and unlike Apple, it charges perfectly fine whilst plugged in.)
The MX Keys mini has been my go-to for a portable keyboard. It's been amazing and also has logi bolt connectivity so I can enter the filevault password on a mac mini when it boots.
I've never needed hot swap switches, I buy what switch type I prefer. It is just a feature that makes it more expensive with no real benefit for me.
I’m surprised more gaming mice haven’t switched to USB-C yet. I guess the EU mandate will require them to soon, but still.
It would be interesting to see a direct comparison of the MX Mechanical with an equivalent Keychron.
I don't like this guy. He's irrational and annoying. His biases don't even make sense.
I keep seeing advertisements and they've almost sold me.
this guy is so whiny...
would have liked a full review, this feels more like a quick unboxing :) Does the Keyboard remain in bluetooth mode while connected via Usb, or does it then act like a real wired model? I imagine it getting dusty very quickly, whereas on non low-profile designed mechinal keyboards the dust would vanish between the caps, so you at least dont have to look at it :)
this host is kinda annoying
You forget to mention really great feature of Logitech called Flow. And also predefined automatic usage of mice and keyboard in different programs.
He’s so negative
No mention of the spinny wheel on the 3S? The magnetic auto disengage when you spin it fast is AMAZING!
14:36 so the function lock is always on? Is there a way to turn it off? What happens when you F5 a web page?
These remind me of my G915 keyboard but are more understated. Would definitely grab one of these for an office PC to match what I've got at home.
Could you please also comment on the cleanability of the mice? are the screws hidden by glued on pads that will be ruined if you ever open the mouse?!
Do you know any mechanical keyboard without a numpad but with an included wrist rest?
I don't get how they are so hard to find.
