Double labeling of Win/Mac keys is because of possibility to switch between multiple devices on a fly, including PC and Mac. You won't replace caps every time you're switching to a different system
I thought that was an interesting comment as well… I’ve never seen someone opposed to a dual label. Way easier as a manufacturer to do that rather than stock Mac and Windows options, not to mention easier for the consumer to have either available for future proofing

I had an issue (squeaky keyboard) on my first MX Mechanical (fullsize). I called Logitech support and they advised me to return it to BestBuy for a replacement (where I bought it) as they had more in stock. BB replaced it without issue and the 2nd keyboard has been perfect. Enjoying it and the battery life is really good.
I buy from Best Buy 100% because if there’s a problem, they swap it right there. No shipping, no emailing, no waiting, no BS. I got this keyboard and the MX Master 3s. The mouse wheel was noisy. Problem with alignment maybe. I just brought it back and they swapped it. New one is perfect. Best Buy is smart for making it easy. It’s something Amazon can’t match.
I also started with a slighly faulty MX Mechanical Mini, randomly losing some M key presses. I sent it back and now waiting to pick up the second one. I'm new to mechanical keyboards, I like Logitech products, but I would probably prefer a TKL layout over 75% one. I've just made up my mind that full size is too wide, so maybe 75% will be good in the end. I like the feel and sound of brown switches.
Tested a bunch of keyboards recently and this one won my review hands down. Better feel. Loud, but not insane. Great battery (should be the standard). And it looks elegant (read: a keyboard for adults). Price: all decent keyboards are way overpriced. Annoying. Support: glad to hear your story. Sh*t happens.
I bought the MX Master 3S a while back and I had to get it replaced by doing a chat with their support team. They went through some quick troubleshooting steps to see if they could fix it, then they simply sent me a new mouse without me having to even send the old one in. It was super fast and honestly one of the best experiences I have ever had with customer support from any company.
I would be nice if you could tweet to them about the (lack off) possibilty of leaving on backlight on regardless of the ambient brightness, its such a simple feature that this thing lacks :(
Just a note about Logitech Customer Support. I've been a big fan of the MX series, both keyboards and the mice. I've had 2 of the mice replaced because of some type of failure or slow degradation of some function on the mouse itself. To be honest, these failures were simply due to age and use. In ever case, Logitech has been awesome with their support and have always replaced the device, hardly any push back what so ever. They always ship the device out quickly and I'm back up and running at 100% in a couple days. Nothing bad here to say about their customer support.

Having used a G502 mouse for seven years, with only slight degredation of the click feel on one button, I decided to get a Logitech keyboard, got the full-size MX Mechanical (linear). It has been flawless since I got it, and was even super easy to clean when I spilled my drink on it. Just water from the tap, wipe it off, done. First time I spill a drink on a keyboard in half a decade and it's the first month after buying it. . . -___- Logitech makes good stuff and I've never had to use their support.
I had issue with my mx keys mini. The battery died and wont recharge. I made a post on reddit, and from there Logitech tech support suggested me some solutions, that didn't worked. After that they sent a new keyboard from US to Brazil, where i live. Best costumer service i ever had.
I ended up going with the Logitech board over Keychron just because the battery life supposedly lasts longer. Keychron: 35 hours, Logitech: 15 days, (120 hours assuming they mean 8 hour work days.)
Excellent video, mate! I bought the clicky version from Dell about a week ago. They're running a $40 off coupon for this model (doesn't apply to the linear or tactile). I used to be something of a Keychron fanboy, but their battery life is wretched and Bluetooth sux for Windows. I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy using my new MX Mech Mini. All your observations/comments are right on target. Reassuring to know Logitech's customer service lives up to its reputation.

Author already mentioned that Logitech kb is targeted more to mainstream user. Such mainstream user (me) most of the time is not interested in messing around with switches, keycaps, boards etc. He just needs good keyboard for work and games.

I had a good experience with Logitech when my iPad keyboard cover failed. I called support and they sent me a replacement very quickly. I didn't even need to complain on Twitter.
I use a MX Key's mini for my daily work, the only thing I don't like about my Apple spec one is the white colour. It's pretty rock solid, I use it without backlight in the day and the battery life is decent. It's also really nice to type on. My Gaming Keyboard is a Razer Black Widow Mini. I might wait till this keyboard drops in price or becomes available 2nd hand
@tonut.2684 Macs have this weird input lag with all my wireless keyboards. There's something seriously wrong with the M1 models and the bluetooth controller.
That's crazy because I get virtually no lag but my power switch has an issue where it wont turn my board on if the switch is turned on all the way. So it's like I have to move the switch to the right but then move it back 1cm and the keeb functions normally but without doing that then I'd be in a predicament where I'd think my board was broken but aside from that I have very few complaints using this keyboard
I have the full size version and overall I love it. I do agree they should do extra Mac/pc specific keys and the keys could be slightly higher quality. Heck, they should make extra sets of productivity keys for photo, video editing, design, excel, etc. I tried both the red and brown and actually find the red to be quieter and smoother to type on so I may keep the red. I do suggest lubing the keys that have stabilizers... made a huge difference in how the keyboard sounds. I also had some bugs with the FN keys when I used the dongle... on BT they all went away. Overall a great keyboard and glad Logitech stepped up to the plate and offered something for Mac/productivity users.
I honestly really like having them together on the same sets of keys. I alternate between Windows and Mac on my main setup quite often and I'd rather not swap the keys when I do so. I think the USB receiver needs a couple of firmware updates. The firmware it shipped with had the Option/Command flipped, which isn't a huge deal, but after a firmware update, it seems to randomly decide to flip itself or sometimes not to flip itself, so I have to reset my settings once in a while. It's honestly not a huge deal for me because this change is relatively rare. Like you mentioned, this doesn't happen on Bluetooth, only when using the USB, but I overall prefer USB when possible because then I can use my Thunderbolt dock to switch my whole setup from PC to Mac. I'm using the red and it's extremely quiet; it's easily the quietest mechanical keyboard at the office in a row full of engineers who are keyboard nerds who have spent a lot more than I have on mine. It's also pretty good for RTS games.
Thanks for the review, it helped me very much! I'll get one of these soon just to see if it works for me. The media keys are an issue, but I'll just have to work something out, as I do use macro keys for muting my input device when in a voice chat. Other than that the mx mechanical mini with brown switches seems to get as near to a thinkpad keyboard as it could get, without the unchangeable fn/ctrl key misspositioning the lenovo compact keyboard has. The pairing issue will be no problem for me, as I do not have a mac, and will use this mostly with linux.
Mechanical keyboards usually use a matrix of wires to link up each switch. The fact that the entire row wouldn’t work suggests that a column wire wasn’t connected properly.
cool they now have the mac specific one in white so no double labeled keys. Unfortunate it doesn't come with a bolt receiver but does fine on Bluetooth mode anyway
I specifically like the mx mechanical, because of the dual keys. I use a MacBook and a tower pc on a daily basis. I don't want to clutter up my desk with two keyboards or change the keycaps every time I want to switch from one computer to the other.
First one I had wouldn’t pair via Bluetooth or the Bolt adapter. Second one had a bad - key, third one has been fine, but I hate that you can’t just keep it plugged in and key lights on all the time. Maybe they need a wired version that solves some of those problems.
I have original mx keys (membrane) and looks like arrow right didn't survive hundreds of thousands of taps and became sort of sticky. There is also random backlight looping issue which can drain the battery quickly, Mechanical version may be the answer. Great content by the way, you will grow big, no doubt.
I regret making this purchase. The quality of the keycaps is subpar and the situation is complicated by the fact that replacement keycaps are not readily available. To make matters worse, if you do find alternative keycaps, there's a chance they might not fit properly because the spacebar stabilisers are not standard.
That's why i am choosing Logitech although their products are very expensive. Their after sales. I hope clicky logi switches are not a lot louder. I took the risk on buying clicky switches
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I have a question I see your go to for your Mac is still the Logitech MX key to skip your next track in iTunes will double tapping work? And on both keyboards will triple tapping skip back one track. Thanks for your quick reply ✌🏻
I just recently got the full size logitech mechanical keyboard and really like it but I DO wish that it came in a lighter color as well. I have a beautiful white monitor and really wanted a matching keyboard but this was the best one I found and tested so I went with it even though the color was not my first choice.
Looks like a nice keyboard, but i don't think I could switch from my Logitech ERGO K860. I think once you adapt to an ergonomic keyboard it's hard to go back. My Apple Magic keyboard with Touch ID just sits and collects dust now.
I had similar experiences with Logitech support here in Europe, and actually it was in Eastern Europe at that time. I think I contacted them twice about device issues, and both times they sent me a replacement device without any problem. But btw, I find this keyboard ugly; I can't stand mechanical keyboards that lack a frame around the keys. Yes, it makes the keyboard look slimmer, but it's fake slimness. In fact I really wonder what's inside that quite thick plate all over the keyboard if the switches stick out of it this much. I also dislike that there is no spacing difference between the groups of keys. The PG Down, PG Up, etc. cluster, and the F cluster should be separated by a few extra millimeters I think. Plus one of the big advantage of a modern mechanical keyboard is the hot-swappable key switches, whereas here they're soldered. The space bar mount is also non-standard. Honestly, I'd just buy the MX Keys Mini if I wanted a mainstream keyboard, and if I wanted a mechanical one I'd buy a properly customizable.
The thing stopping me from getting this is the BOLT connection. BT sucks badly, also 2 of my computers don't have BT so I'd need to buy 3 bolts. Since the bolt isn't backwards comparable i'd need two dongles for my mice and keyboard.
Last year I was hunting for a low profile mechanical keyboard with backlight and there were not so many options. So I was super happy when Logitech released their first low profile mechanical keyboard last year - the gaming G915. I bought the TKL version with red switches shortly after release and it is so far my absolute favorite PC gadget so far. Feels awesome, sounds really nice and this new "non-gaming" version of low mechanical keyboard looks amazing as well. I'm considering buying this one as well now 😂 Well done Logitech, well Done Kyle!
Did the same as you: bought the G915 TKL (tactile/brown) and I absolutely love it. So I went ahead and bought the MX Mechanical Mini (tactile/brown) this year and it is also amazing. They definitely have a different feel, where as the MX is a bit more thocky. The G915 I use at home and the MX is for the office + studio. They are both amazing and I would say I love them equally, so I can highly recommend them both. G915 for home/gaming and the MX for work/travel. Do note that I am not a mechanical keyboard snob and these are my first mechanical keys ever.
Hi, great review! I finally purchased it, and I agree with the initial adjustment to get used to the keyboard. I do think a wrist wrest would be handy...
I'm having a problem with just one key, the FN key. I've tried all manner of cleaning it. Well mostly that involves blowing on it or firing some dust remover under it and that seems to work for a short period of time. It could be a couple of hours or a couple of days but then stops working again. Is this just defective in this case? All other keys seem to be perfect.
@@KyleErickson Yeah, that seemed like the only thing left to do. Fortunately I am within the 1 year warranty period so the process via their online chat support was really good and handled well. Hopefully I will have the replacement soon.
I had a faulty MX Mechanical Mini too, the support is so bad. I bought from the online Official Shop, the store ignore me totally. So I contacted Logitech, they refer me to their support centre. As I am busy to go down, the support centre said they will keep a replacement unit for me. However when I visited the support centre, they said they have issued out the replacement unit to someone else and it is currently out of stock. Almost 1 month after I got my keyboard and I still didnt get to use the keyboard. Furthermore it has pass the refund period. Super disappointed in Logitech.
It's a low profile keyboard, so there isn't much room to add anything. You might be able to layer a super-thin peice of foam between the PCB and bottom plate, but I'm not sure it would be thick enough to do much good.
Same thing happened to me w the keys not working. SUPER ANNOYING. Had to go get the mac version from best buy instead and that was seemless connectivity.
How did you feel about the super-fast backlight timeout? I've reached out to Logitech and they agree the fast timeout is unacceptable. It's not clear if/when there will be a feature added to Options+ to adjust the backlight. I returned the MX Mechanical and MX Keys both for the same reason. It's a major design flaw that hinders usability and ruins the experience if you work in a dim or dark room.
I’ve had mine a couple days but I’m likely to send it back. The backlight timeout is ridiculous. Mine is 10 seconds not 30 and it seems to be controlled solely by the sensor and not key presses. When gaming I’ll use the WASD keys without moving my hand and the light constantly goes out. Might have kept it if they gave an option to turn off the backlight sensor or if they gave an option in the software to extend the time out to minutes instead of seconds. If you plan to turn the backlight off then maybe it’s worthwhile but it doesn’t seem very premium either that’s the second con. Oh well.
You know but sense having Mac Book Air m 1with a finger print sensor! Some manufacture should sell a finger print device for those computers! That will change your life online!
not gonna lie, for a high-end low profile keyboard MX Mechanical's body looks thicker than its gaming counterpart (I'm guessing it's G 813/815 & 913/915)
Yeah, you can set up the bolt receiver as device 1, and BT for the other two. It swaps fine, though it takes a second or two to negotiate (as usual). I use this to swap between my HTPC (bolt) and my work laptop (BT).
I upgraded stock caps with NuPhy caps, not all of them (as not all of them fit) but mainly alphabetical, which makes a real difference in feel and (surprisingly) sound. Full size - the one you need (personal preference, as I use the num pad a lot). I tried a quiet tactile version, and there is nothing tactile, quiet, or mechanical in it (muted dull cheap squicky thrash). Then I got a clicky version with blue switches - this is the one you want (not a personal preference but really the only good choice from the three offered, who cares about sound-sensitive peasants around you :)). And about "pretty expensive" - that's a $160 spaghetti dinner of yours last Friday at that fancy Italian restaurant but not a keyboard you gonna use for years every single day. Logitec support is top-notch indeed (had to deal with them before regarding my MX mouse), but would be even better if there is no reasons to contact them.
@Comment Warrior Yes, a bigger set of Twilight (for Air75/Air60). I replaced the ESC key, all the numerical row except backspace, all the alphabetical keys (including semicolons, question mark etc.), navigational arrows, and the ENTER key (surprisingly the orange enter fit perfectly and looks awesome). Side keys like backspace, backslash, shifts, alts/opts kinda fit but some of them were a bit sluggish for some reason, so I decided to keep the original ones from MX. Also, it looks like left CAPS has some kind of proprietary stabilizer. As it was mentioned - unfortunately, space isn't compatible. Function keys (esc row) also can be easily replaced but the legends are a bit different. Nyphy keys have a tighter fit, so you need to press them harder than the original ones to attach to switches and level them with the rest. Looks very nice, you cannot say that they don't match with mx keys at the first glance. Unfortunately, no light comes through nuphy keys if you look at it at pinch dark, but light leaks around so you can see individual keys (but not legends). Also, even with very little light from a monitor, you can easily see the legends. I think it makes sense to do the "upgrade" as it really feels and sounds much better. At the end, I've got a very similar setup to this but for a full-size keyboard and with fancy colorful esc and enter caps: th-cam.com/video/Dz81wcNJWq0/w-d-xo.html
@@ThatGuyOverThereWeird Sure, no problem. I'm also not a big mechanical keyboard specialist :) but I like it much more than a regular mx and an apple magic. And also I was doubtful about using nuphy caps but for some reason, they make a difference indeed. Yeah, why not, try nuphy keyboard as well maybe you'll like it more, if not, it shouldn't be a problem to return or sell it (and let me know how do you like it :)). I chose full mx mechanical, as I had long time experience using original mx and like the option to easily switch between 3 computers (and the num pad :)).
hello great video! I do have the mx keys full keyboard and i am interested in upgrading to the mx mechanical full because i think i cant type so good on mx keys (because of the type of caps my fingers are very close to each other). You said that the gap in mx mech is less than the mx keys?? So do you think is more difficult to type on it in comparison with the mx keys?? Thx
I think it all depends on your preference. I do think the MX keys are spread out much more than the mx mechanical - so just something to be aware of. I much prefer the MX keys, but I've got pretty slender fingers and I don't have many issues with comfortability on most keyboards
I wouldnt include the support the Logitech gives you in this review as I consider this not to be a usual consumer case. You are a You Tuber and they have a new product where they dont want any bad PR. So they go out of their way for you and any other TH-camr, which I am happy about ofc - but the question is if they would do it for a "regular" consumer as well.
The MAIN problem with these low profile switches is that the tolerance levels are much much lower and the small plastic bump on the stem sometimes doesn't push the contact far or strong enough.
Man if you said that being painful to get support since you living in usa rather than asia That absolutely wrong since usa have tighter consumer law those logitech support gonna serve you well but in asia they gonna easy decline your warranty even for slightly cosmetic damage thats why everytime im buying stuff i really dont care with stuff warranty even if stuff broken i rather take it to 3rd party fixer

Yeah, my thought was that the PCB got bent or otherwise developed a crack in that area that damaged the traces, which would have the same effect.
Great review! I just bought MX Mechanical Mini yesterday and first impressions are very good. Btw. you have new sub 😎
cool they now have the mac specific one in white so no double labeled keys.
Quite ridiculous problems for a 200$ keyboard. Seems like Logitech implements Razer's politics - high price for average product.
How can I make my keys illuminate like with movement and a pattern? I love it. I did not know you can do that.
So which is better to pick the mechanical or the keys model ? which one you use now after several months?
Nice review and video quality, I’m surprised you’re not super famous!
i like the dual label keycaps.
what's the alternative, u gon swap out keycsps when switching from mac to pc??
I am a bit worried if this is still loud for an office environment
I have original mx keys (membrane) and looks like arrow right didn't survive hundreds of thousands of taps and became sort of sticky. There is also random backlight looping issue which can drain the battery quickly, Mechanical version may be the answer.
Great content by the way, you will grow big, no doubt.
Почисть клавишу, найди видео как снять клавишу. Мне помогло!
I have it and i am really liking it along side my Q3
I regret making this purchase. The quality of the keycaps is subpar and the situation is complicated by the fact that replacement keycaps are not readily available. To make matters worse, if you do find alternative keycaps, there's a chance they might not fit properly because the spacebar stabilisers are not standard.
That's why i am choosing Logitech although their products are very expensive. Their after sales. I hope clicky logi switches are not a lot louder. I took the risk on buying clicky switches
Can u tell me which mouse do you use? Looks nice
I enjoy your video style & production.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I have a question I see your go to for your Mac is still the Logitech MX key to skip your next track in iTunes will double tapping work? And on both keyboards will triple tapping skip back one track. Thanks for your quick reply ✌🏻
Which switches are more quieter, red or brown?
really brown ones are quieter?
are these switches the company's logitech or Cherry MX switches?
Which of the three switches are harder to press? The travel is the same?
I just recently got the full size logitech mechanical keyboard and really like it but I DO wish that it came in a lighter color as well. I have a beautiful white monitor and really wanted a matching keyboard but this was the best one I found and tested so I went with it even though the color was not my first choice.
There’s a white version on Amazon
Since the bolt isn't backwards comparable i'd need two dongles for my mice and keyboard.
you might even say, it made you 'bolt'
...I'll see myself out
One question since the keys are not swappable what happens if a key brakes ?
@@Jorgenmeistr A very helpful comparison & details. 👍🏽👍🏽
Which switch did you get?
Hi, great review!
I finally purchased it, and I agree with the initial adjustment to get used to the keyboard.
I do think a wrist wrest would be handy...
Thanks for watching! Wrist rest would definitely be helpful!
So, did you end up sticking to Logitech or went back to Keychron eventually?
Still rocking Logitech, although I'm using the Mx Keys mini right now. I might switch to the lighter mac version of this one though.
Does the backlight turn off on F6 and on by F7?
my MX Mechanical tends to sleep after a short amount of time, and needs to reconnect via bluetooth to my Mac - do you have this problem?
Would you choose this keyboard or the Keychron K3?
If you’re okay with the added cost, Logitech. Customer service is so much better if anything happens IMO
I would contact Logitech support!
@@KyleErickson Yeah, that seemed like the only thing left to do. Fortunately I am within the 1 year warranty period so the process via their online chat support was really good and handled well. Hopefully I will have the replacement soon.
Is it hot-swappable switch ?
How many keys rollover does the MX Mech support?
I had a faulty MX Mechanical Mini too, the support is so bad. I bought from the online Official Shop, the store ignore me totally. So I contacted Logitech, they refer me to their support centre. As I am busy to go down, the support centre said they will keep a replacement unit for me. However when I visited the support centre, they said they have issued out the replacement unit to someone else and it is currently out of stock. Almost 1 month after I got my keyboard and I still didnt get to use the keyboard. Furthermore it has pass the refund period. Super disappointed in Logitech.
Hey! Where can i buy a pad like yours? Thank you
But can it replace my k 740? For some stupid reason they have stopped producing that...
Great video! Is it worth it over the MX Keys, disregarding the price?
If you really love mechanical I think or the layout or the extra keys along the right column, but for myself I still love the MX keys
Hi. If you have to choose only one which one would you buy ? Mx keys mini or mini mechanical ?
Hello, could you tell me please what mat is that?
Is it possible to add foam under the keyboard to make it quieter?
It's a low profile keyboard, so there isn't much room to add anything. You might be able to layer a super-thin peice of foam between the PCB and bottom plate, but I'm not sure it would be thick enough to do much good.
Can you use other keycaps on the keyboard?
I’ve heard it’s possible with certain key caps but I’m not sure which. Logitech now has the lighter Mac key option as well
Same thing happened to me w the keys not working.
I don’t have any issues with the backlight personally, but often I am using a screen bar at my desk so maybe I just notice it less
Oh well.
I use Logitech mice on both my pc and MacBook air and have had good experiences with their products.
Do the 3 switch buttons only work with bluetooth? Or could you also just buy 3 logibolts and switch them that way with the buttons?
just bluetooth
I have it set up with three different logi bolts.
no dedicated sound test chapter?? really??
If we use the bolt on the pc, and bluetooth on the laptop, does it swap between both connectivity easily?
Yeah, you can set up the bolt receiver as device 1, and BT for the other two. It swaps fine, though it takes a second or two to negotiate (as usual). I use this to swap between my HTPC (bolt) and my work laptop (BT).
So does the unify receiver interfere with regular BlueTooth?
if you mean the bolt receiver, no it doesn't.
@@KyleErickson Yes, the Bolt is what I was referencing. Many thanks!
It's a keyboard. The person makes the cool code and not the keyboard - $10 is perfect but $200 is just extravagant for no real benefit.
hello great video!
@@KyleErickson Could you elaborate on why you prefer the mx keys, please? I'm considering both....thanks.
Bummer that Logitech doesn't support hot swappable switches, VIA customization, or ability to make the keyboard thockier.
Its a nice keyboard, i have been waiting for a price drop for months now.. and i will not buy it at the current price. For $65 this would be perfect
You will probably be waiting for years for it to be $65
Your kidding right lol. The gaming versions are $220-250 then there’s a reason to complain. At 150 or less this is fine.
Im living in the EU. I'm really offended by a keyboard displaying a dollar sign so prominently! I want a new set of key caps! *snicker*
a dollar makes makes me holler
it's time that wireless adapters go to USB C, not USB A ....
Still prefer g915 tkl
I do expect Logitech to lose out to Keychron very meaningfully in the keyboard market.
Great so I just need to be a tech reviewer to get the silver lining experience 😂
The MAIN problem with these low profile switches is that the tolerance levels are much much lower and the small plastic bump on the stem sometimes doesn't push the contact far or strong enough.
It's a de-gamified g915 lol
mines not connecting ..
Mine was “L” key typing out “ 0./9 “
Hi, does the keyboard go to sleep after a period of inactivity?
I can record your screen on Mac OS with quick time. #info
my B button isnt working on this 😑
Man if you said that being painful to get support since you living in usa rather than asia
That absolutely wrong since usa have tighter consumer law those logitech support gonna serve you well but in asia they gonna easy decline your warranty even for slightly cosmetic damage thats why everytime im buying stuff i really dont care with stuff warranty even if stuff broken i rather take it to 3rd party fixer
I'm not sure how much to trust a person who looks at the keyboard while typing
cool story bro
it is incredible how many keyboard enthusiasts/reviewers can't type properly
Wait wait wait.Logitech is based in ASIA?! But they are obscenely so unresponsive.
