So glad I started playing in its prime back in 2006-2007, back when people didn't care as much about XP gains and people would talk while training

Bots, real world trading and bug abuse were around even back then. Not as excessively of course, but they were still around. Different methods, same weak minded people.
06-07 were great times though. Pking was in its peak with all kinds of players fighting eachother instead of only maxed out pures.
And people got an adrenaline rush pking a rune scimmy AND r2h at the same time.

No one would need to use third party clients if Jagex would just add basic add ons to the main game (Item identifier, GPU graphics, skill calculators etc..)
people still would for malicious purposes, since they can put whatever they want into them. But yeah the majority of normal players would be totally fine with an upgraded vanilla client.

Honestly if youre complaining about gpu youve probably got a decent pc so just open another tab, look up skill calc osrs on google, and open another tab for a wiki on how to finish ur clue.
The only main problem ive had on official client is the spawn timer at arma and even then u can set up a stop watch
To summarize, these are all qol things and if they have to remove all 3rd party clients to get rid of abusers and bots easier then so be it, even if a few crying redditors leave then great

Shady clients will never disappear as long as jagex can't detect them.

If your complaining about gpu it's called fps overload which is basicly frame dropping making the game lag and tear. It has nothing to do with the add ons.
The only main problem with the main client is its slow, runs terrible on new pcs, and makes everything generally harder for no reason. Back on 06-07 it was unable to make these add ons into the client do to pc limitations now that they're gone there's no real excuse for it.
To summarize, removing 3rd party clients would only hurt the public players who don't abuse it to bot. Most botters use custom clients or the offical client to do botting not runelite and scammbuddy so banning them would get rid of about 0% of the botting problem. Also those few crying redditors are 95% of the current player base who play on 3rd party clients so yes you should care seeing as it would destroy the money flow of the game and it would be shut down.

Same here lol. I started playing in 2003. After a number of good years I quit (having a life and all). Eventually I've tried replaying the game in the OSRS era. But it just hasn't been the same. Too many bots ruining the game, the grand exchange makes things too easy, and there's too many people focused solely on XP and item gains rather than on having a good time together... It will never be the way it was. So yeah, I too wish I could time travel back to the golden years. ;-)

As a software engineer I find it laughable that these bugs could even exist in RuneScape... but then again if you look at the pathetic salaries Jagex pays their devs I suppose it makes sense... Their codebase is probably full-on spaghetti at this point.

Having switched from RS3 to OS like 2 months ago I started on the OS client and switching has been much better for most reasons that people use them. What's strange to me is that RS3 has similar things in it that people use OSB or Runelite for. In their Runemetrics software it shows your xp rates, DPS rates, GP/H and has a drop log. Not nearly as convenient as the item drop overlay but it does help see something you might have missed. The only real issue is that they charge you for it so that could be a reason they haven't brought it to OS, plus it doesn't have all the other features that people like to use as well.

Pretty sure the dev who was in the video is also a well known 3rd party client dev who is hiding his voice so he doesn't get called out for it and all his accounts are banned.

I am a software engineer who has worked with runescape’s API. Programmers do not have access to the “back end of the client”. Runescape clients like Runelite and OSbuddy are exactly that, Clients. Meaning they are the front end.
I was permabanned for using Runelite. It was classified as Macoring (Severe). That was my first offense.
3rd party clients can go on as undetected.. Even if Jagex bans them, that would only ban them for the public eye. The underground scene will still have the unfair advantages.
I think youre wrong jagex can identify if youre using a 3rd party client just not which one and thats the main dilemma bc if they ban all 3rd party clients they can get rid of bots and abusers easier but you wont have your item armadyl in green and ur prims in red
Jagex can identify if you're using a 3rd part client. However, they only ban you if you're abusing it somehow. For example, you won't get banned if you play the game legit on a botting client like dreambot but you will get banned if you use the client to bot.
There are plenty of methods to detect if the main client is being used or not. Perfect example is other esports titles like Fortnite. it's really hard to cheat in it.
Remember: these advantages have nothing to with OSBuddy or RL! This video is not commentary on them.
I said this above but you should consider changing the title. Blanketing these features under all "third party clients" makes the issue seem more widespread than it really is, and will cause a lot of outrage, which will harm the clients that play by the rules. Everything in this video is very underground and basically botting. It's discouraged by all the main third party clients, even RL+.
Okay but you keep putting images of OSB/RuneLite on your video and throughout it which gives people who just enjoy regular third-party clients a bad name and therefore harms the experience for those people because you're being extremely misleading.

You know a game has some serious respect when even the hackers or cheaters dont give out info that could hurt the game because they care about the game.
What did the developers expect? The age of automation is here and OSRS with its plethora of mundane tasks is a prime target for it. Other games that are falling victim to it are Eve Online, WOW, and even Warframe to name a few. When your game is being automated to this extent, something is fundamentally wrong/obsolete with the game itself. Adapt or get left behind Jagex.

The game itself is in a genre of mechanics that easily lends itself to become automated. This is not really something that can be fixed without actually changing the game itself. They "could" make bot detection much more sophisticated but they would be plunging a crap ton of money into the expertise required to make that kind of stuff happen. People who do that for a living generally make much better money elsewhere.
They did fix it. In RS3.

Dont get me wrong, i like f Keys, but i wish there was 1 "normal" PvP world.

From a code efficiency point of view, it's less steps. Runescape takes data from the client in packages, these clients are simply sending those same data packages to the servers. Meanwhile normal bots click for the user and then uses the client to send packages to the server.

@@suparki123 No the packet thing has nothing to do with this. This video has multiple topics being covered. The open source clients allow pluggins that make scripting a "bot" super easy and anyone, even someone who has never touched a string of code in their life, could make one in a matter of hours/days. --- The second topic being discussed, with the person using a voice changer, was that you use to be able to modify packets being sent between the server and yourself, and during this process change things in the packet to make the server think something different. Example used was changing a bronze sword into another item. You could do this with cheat engine back in the day, now it's a bit more difficult but still possible as he was saying, they patched it but there's ways to abuse the patches they implemented. You can still do it on unpatched private servers.
They need to hire and work directly with runelite. Import runelite into the normal client and ban the rest. Oversee all updates to the official runelite client and stop these cheats before they're released.
The shit these botting clients are doing is ALREADY banned. There is just nothing Jagex can do about them. Do, prey-tell, do you think they can "stop these cheats before they are released" when 1. They already are released and 2. They cannot combat 3rd party software abuse at all. If you simply mean stop the from being added to RuneLite....well that is on the dev and does not even need Jagex involvement.
All of this is possible on Runelite since it's open sourced.

I use Runelite almost entirely for the GPU rendering feature and animation smoothing. I do use a few other subtle features, like bank value and item stats, but other than that, I have no use for the vast majority of Runelite's plugins. Jagex could fix plenty of its problems by taking a few pages from Runelite's book and updating their own client.
The capped the amount of actions per tic because if you stalled and stacked up 1k anything after that 1k would be deleted to stop server crashes, it's a glitch called a flood. You could stall,stack 1k and then teleport out of a safe zone but still have the safe zone effect because the game would delete the command to remove it.

I just started using runelite today, but only because I heard you can use WASD controls to pan the camera. In fact, it's the only reason why I use it. Personally, I don't like the fact that it hints me about certain things in game because it makes the game feel unplayable and extremely aidful. Jagex should start a poll to implement WASD controls into their client.

I use runelite for four things and those are 1. puzzlebox clue step 2. loot tracking 3. farming timers and 4. highlighted agility hitboxes to see where to click.

Apparently there was a packet thing that allowed you to change a drop. Say like you were killing goblins you were able to make it so it only dropped goblin mails. As far as I know the guys that used it didn't really abuse it. Like one guy completely removed the chance of getting bones from cows. Another made it so he'd get burnt pie from cooking shrimp. And my friend set it so that men dropped only buckets. And woman only dropped daggers. (I saw clips years ago but that was before discord was even a thing)

It has some features that don't belong in a default client tbh. It makes many things easier than they should be, and gives players information they shouldn't have. That being said, runelite is super dope and I use it anyway lol.

@@dat_boii "Cheating" QoL features aren't cheating. Nothing is inherently unfair about vanilla RuneLite. If you want to stick with the official client go ahead, but many of us have moved on to the better client in light of Jagex not wanting to make the official one more useable.
I commented on your other video. Funny thing about packets is if they developer is not as black hat savvy as the people abusing, they will struggle to fix it. A lot of things factor into this. I used to run an underground packet editing group on MapleStory Global. Years ago. We were responsible for the nebulite dupes, the 120 attck gloves, and many other dupes and item spawns. To this date Nexon has still struggle to fix EVERYthing, the game can still be manipulated.
The only way to end botting is to disincentivize it, which is near impossible, I guess. Warframe has no hackers. WoW doesn’t have many. Hearthstone doesn’t have many. I’m not sure what Jagex could do. To fix these problems they would need to devote everyone’s time towards the issue completely and that will never happen.

i was in discord with a friend of mine last year, he wrote a dead simple dart making AHK script that was completely automated. all of us in the discord were calling him insane for using it on his main account. He had all the darts banked to get 99 fletching, and did so in about 5 hours.
tick perfect dart making with teleporting mouse movement. we had bets going between our friends group on how far he'd make it before auto detection banned him. He's still happily playing this account. It kind of destroyed my perception of the auto detection system. I guess popular botting scripts are what make it detectable, if you can write your own scripts, you'll likely get away with it. (I DON'T CONDONE IT THOUGH)

i'm splashing in osrs, but you know that after 20 min it will log me out, and even earlier it stops doing spells
i figured out that when i put some metal on my keyboard, on some key, that this splashing can last nonstop
is that macroing or is not? I'm not using any software, i only put a metal thing on keyboard, thanks for your opinions guys
NONE of these advantages are available in the mainstream clients. Not even runelite+ (now OpenOSRS) supports this stuff. They actively discourage it and won't help you if you ask. This is all shady bot stuff and much much more likely to be detected and banned. Also, runelite+ is a fork of runelite, both are open source, so both have the potential to be abused so it's not really fair to point fingers and blame either one of them. On top of that, because a lot of this stuff is so underground, there's a very small portion of the community abusing this stuff. 99% of people using third party clients have no idea half of this stuff even exists.
Jagex should hire guys like this to fix these things

Fun stuff. I wrote a black jack script for runelite some time ago, talked about it in the discord and it was patched(in runelite) like 2 weeks later. They for sure try their best to keep a layer of separation between the core client code and the "open source" stuff. But people way smarter than me are surely able to hook in and do what they will.
Jagex needs to ban all 3rd party clients after implementing essential plugins in their own client such as ground item markers and tile markers

This is why I went back to playing World Of Warcraft, Blizzard is ALOT more serious about stopping stuff like botting and hacking. Jagex has hit record levels of profit but still just has 1 guy to deal with it all but they got a whole team focusing on microtransactions. Open source third party clients should not be allowed period.

My issue with rs3 isn't that it's too easy but instead that it's an MTX infested hellscape. I don't want to spin the wheel of free shit, and I don't want people to be able to pay money to spin the wheel of free shit to get advantages over me. I don't want double xp weekends. I don't want the shitty EoC. OSRS is already going too far with power creep and XP gain creep, it's pretty obvious and there's already clear examples.

i used RL when i played a while back never got banned. the thing is even though it helped me solve puzzles there was no automation. i still had to do everything myself. every action in game was performed by my own hands. i basically used to help skip through the parts of rs that would have made me quit otherwise. dont force me to grind literally just for the sake of grinding and absolutely nothing else. by that i mean things that of which the sole purpose and intention are to drag out your time with no benefit to you in the end.
It is always up to the server to validate requests made by the client - the server should be preventing clients from issuing alching/agility movements faster than the number of ticks that is allowed - you should never trust the client to behave
Might aswell give everyone maxed accounts and make everything automatic then.
I'm surprised Runelite doesn't have a plugin for that yet
and this is why we don't risk fight anymore, you just never know whats skill or fake anymore.

Btw. Bot farms currently active I've seen atm are rc bots doing cosmics thru the abyss w addy legs and helm mith pbody. Green dragon bots are back w d scims rune plate armour and antifire shield. Nothing special but they have a few every world it seems like. Love the vids!

I use RL now because I literally have to, If you go into pvp without knowing the other person's stats before hand you could get screwed over . . . I got sick of others looking me up when normally some of my skills that would give me a slight advantage would be to low to be seen on high scores being pulled up with RL and me being skipped when it came to low lvl stakes or just trying to look trash with red hides while pking with 95 range and a magic short bow. I feel a large portion of pvp is and should be hiding your ace when the fight could be decided by a 1 or 2 max hit difference I would rather fight people who don't already know what I can hit. lol I just so happen to fall short of 1 def pures maxed combat lvls atm on one of my acc, the void pure atm 50 att 80 str 87 range 79 mage ( I know I'm working on it ) and mainly like to pick on rune - barrow gear users as easy prey but keep getting tracked down by maxed pures that can easily out stack my damage and seeing what I risk without veng or freeze I am a ripe target.
I remember when Saradomin Sword had unlimited special attack points
to be honest, I'm fine with the vanilla client, and just banning all other clients overall. of course, the vanilla client needs a bit of a tune up, but given how the situation with these 3rd party ones, it might be Jagex's nuclear option.
I do wish that Runelite's devs help work with jagex with the vanilla client at least. that'd be a win win

List of reason of why you shouldn't give a shit about 3rd party clients:
1. Fix botting before taking away 3rd party clients
2. People actually playing
3. Makes the game enjoyable
4. Saves us time so we spend time doing real shit in the real world. Basically a Reality Checker
5. It's almost 2020. Have some decency to upgrade your own clients so we won't have to download other ones
6. It's better than botting
7. I dont want carpal tunnel or arthritis from playing OSRS. Let me get that shit naturally

I had a buddy tell me that because I used runelite and he played on rs3 . . lmao 2xXIP was happening on rs3 once and decided to hop in and found the only thing runelite did was get me a little closer to the level of ease as rs3. but rs3 is still incredibly easier to skill up.

i'd say you could probably pull off an NFID and do something like kill corp in an instance on a maxed account, you'd be invincible and nobody would be able to see you. you wouldn't need food or teleports and with some spec transfer alts that wield tbows, or even rune crossbows with ruby bolts. you could contain the entire thing within an instance and never teleport out.

Very nice video as always. I came across what I believe to be a very strange broken barrows bot earlier today. It was strange for two reasons. The first is the name of the player, STAR BOY XO, and the equipment didn't seem very bot like as he was wearing sara d'hide coif, top, bottom, and boots. The second is what he was actually doing. I first saw him when I was killing Karil and I noticed he left the tomb too early when Karil was near death, naturally I assumed he was counting on a finishing hit to get out of the tomb before the prayer drain. However, when he came back he only killed Karil until about half hp and left the tomb. This happened 4 times before he actually got the kill. So I thought, "Oh, he's trying to get a quick kill as he's using a trident (as opposed to Iban's Staff) before the first prayer drain even occurs and simply leaves the tomb if he won't get the kill in time, maybe he only has 1 dose of a prayer potion left and is saving it for a Dharok tunnel." But that wasn't the case, as the 3rd and 4th time he didn't even use prayer. So I followed him to Torag and then Verac, in which he repeated the partial kills without prayer 3-4 without times for each brother. Strange, right?
If he wasn't a bot, the most confusing part was that he did have prayer to begin with while fighting Karil. If he was saving a dose, he should have just used all of his prayer to kill Karil, as Torag is inaccurate and Verac can hit through prayer. Yet, it appears as if his prayer got drained as he didn't pray on the 3rd and 4th fight against Karil.
I couldn’t play OSRS without a 3rd party client, my computer wouldn’t allow it. So I downloaded OSB and played for a long time on it. I have never in my 13 years of playing cheated or even tried any way to gain advantage. I recently tried to log into my main account that I have been playing with for 12 years... Jagex banned me for using “illegal 3rd party clients” so my 12 year account is permanently banned.
