Honestly, it looks like somehow they knew it was you. They allowed you to kill their two "rushing" accounts so you'd post a video on it, making people think they can do the same. However in reality you fell into their trap. They know your viewers will attempt to do the same, except there will be a max mage waiting on the other side instead of two afk "rushers". A 300 mil investment to get thousands of people to see how easy it is to anti scam, only takes one or two people to fall for it to turn a profit. I know you always warn people to not try this at home, but there will always be people who will attempt it after they see your easy success. Jagex could simply patch Shanty pass, Fishing guild, crafting guild, Farming guild and that would put a big stop to alot of their luring. It took them like 2 years just to patch Barb outpost but leave shanty pass the same way? A large portion of their luring heavily relies on these banks. They like it because the victim assumes the bank is safe, and so takes out their items.
They knew it was you, so they switched to the grand seed pod thing to disguise the actual scam. The actual scam is them dragging you out of the bank with a movement stall when you wear your stuff, expecting to get the armour and seed pod. Like this, so people can see.
Trade stall scams are old as shit. If people aren’t aware of that, they need to watch some old Kemp videos. Never go to a pvp world unless you’re prepared to lose your items.

This is so amazing. I remember being scammed from my first whip back in the day. We need sooooo much more of this stuff!!
Remember the “buying full addy g 1m” scam? They would take the money away. Well I was quick when I was younger and scammed the scammer, got 1m for my addy g and even removed the plate body. Prob the best and most nostalgic experience I’ve had in RuneScape when I was younger

That was 100% just an attempt to make themselves look stupid so people try to antiscam. They gave you the gold outfit (WHICH THEY NEVER DO) just to get people to think they will be given the outfit if they play along, and they let you kill the two accounts to make themselves appear incompetent. In reality, they will take you to an unsafe bank like rogues den (all pvp) ask you to take items out, (u will do it because u'll think u will get 25m) and then once u take it out they'll just kill u right there before ever giving u the outfit.

I tried following along knowing it was a scam, but didn't understand how easy Jagex made the trade window to lure. All they have to do is move before you hit trade, or quickly close the window while you're removing items and its gg. For anyone reading, never follow along with these scammers because you're curious, or because a 'friend' asked you to help them anti-lure... trust me... you don't know every trick in the book, and you will get got.
100% I lost 1.8b recently to a lure.. worst part about it is a friend who I'd made weeks before was actually in on it. We were talking at GE, another account approached saying "drop giveaway, follow" and my friend called me on discord, said he'd login under the guy when he dropped.. the lurer traded me but turns out it was another account outside of the safezone. When I traded back, my character ran into a dangerous zone.. and my friend blocked me. A I and L look similar in runescape and that was the difference in names
@@slayyzosrs Yep, that's a classic one, we both learned valuable lessons about the lengths scammers go to. It's a good lesson for IRL too, we lost some game money, but hopefully this knowledge will help us if we face a social engineering scam IRL, scammers are everywhere.

I feel like something you could do to combat lurers using your own videos to lure other people, would be to put some sort of watermark or graphic throughout the video that says something along the lines of 'If you've been sent here by someone claiming to anti-lure, you are being targeted by a new lure. Do not attempt to anti-lure.' The less ammo they have to create new tactics, the better, imo.

way back in the day when armor trimming was a scam, I watched these two guys lure this poor santa wearing noob to the zamorak wine church. I was just pking a few minutes before so I was good to go. I ran north of the church, PM'd him to tell him what was going on and to just roll with it, I had his back and to let me know when they stepped in the wildy. Soon as they did, I rushed one of them, killing him almost instantly with a d-dagger spec, his buddy tried to save him. TB'd and tangled him, daggered him for a 35-38, red barred him but he got out. Luckily the first guy was the one i really wanted. Bro gave me a free blue phat and mask set. Gave the other guy the mask set and went on with my day, almost quadrupling my bank account in ten seconds. Told myself I'd keep that phat forever. Took an almost decade long break and found out how shit runescape became. Sold that phat for $3500 USD. That's right, I RWT that bish.
I fell victim to this scam about a year ago, lost about 200m in items and quit. Haven't been back on since. Did not know that 1 step away from the bank was no longer safe zone.
I met a dude at TOA bank and we raided for weeks. Discord calls and all. Seemed like a pretty genuine dude. Out of the blue he sent me a screenshot of full torva on the ground outside of ferox. He had me log in under them while the guy “scrambled” to pick up the items. I had bad connection so I got in at a time he didn’t expect. His excitement in hindsight was definitely panic lol. The entire scenario was painted as an anti scam ofc. But this time I would go through the lure so that the “scammer” would drop the torva for him to log in under.
But he basically called out all the gear I was using in our raids to wear and encourage the scammer to bite by showing . It was some telegrab lure that would drag me into combat. The idea is that we KNOW where the safe zone is and as long my 10hp brewed down account didn’t step past it, we’d get the torva. I actually almost did too . I was hovering the barrier w my mouse and he went feral

Man i remember having 10 million GP as a kid back around 2007. I would spend days mining rune essence, coal, and flipping trades on the forums and trade worlds. When my irl friends got me to start playing WoW, I ended up giving all but something like 250k to an in-game friend. Figured if I ever ended up wanting to play again 250k would me more than enough to start trading my way back up again. Might have to try recovering that old account just to see how it's doing.

@@slayyzosrs Yep, that's a classic one, we both learned valuable lessons about the lengths scammers go to. It's a good lesson for IRL too, we lost some game money, but hopefully this knowledge will help us if we face a social engineering scam IRL, scammers are everywhere.

Really fascinating stuff. I feel like something you could do to combat lurers using your own videos to lure other people, would be to put some sort of watermark or graphic throughout the video that says something along the lines of 'If you've been sent here by someone claiming to anti-lure, you are being targeted by a new lure. Do not attempt to anti-lure.'
The less ammo they have to create new tactics, the better, imo.

way back in the day when armor trimming was a scam, I watched these two guys lure this poor santa wearing noob to the zamorak wine church.
I was just pking a few minutes before so I was good to go. I ran north of the church, PM'd him to tell him what was going on and to just roll with it, I had his back and to let me know when they stepped in the wildy.
Soon as they did, I rushed one of them, killing him almost instantly with a d-dagger spec, his buddy tried to save him. TB'd and tangled him, daggered him for a 35-38, red barred him but he got out.
Luckily the first guy was the one i really wanted. Bro gave me a free blue phat and mask set.
Gave the other guy the mask set and went on with my day, almost quadrupling my bank account in ten seconds.
Told myself I'd keep that phat forever. Took an almost decade long break and found out how shit runescape became.
Sold that phat for $3500 USD. That's right, I RWT that bish.

I fell victim to this scam about a year ago, lost about 200m in items and quit. Haven't been back on since. Did not know that 1 step away from the bank was no longer safe zone.

I met a dude at TOA bank and we raided for weeks. Discord calls and all. Seemed like a pretty genuine dude.
Out of the blue he sent me a screenshot of full torva on the ground outside of ferox.
He had me log in under them while the guy “scrambled” to pick up the items.
I had bad connection so I got in at a time he didn’t expect. His excitement in hindsight was definitely panic lol.
The entire scenario was painted as an anti scam ofc. But this time I would go through the lure so that the “scammer” would drop the torva for him to log in under.
But he basically called out all the gear I was using in our raids to wear and encourage the scammer to bite by showing .
It was some telegrab lure that would drag me into combat.
The idea is that we KNOW where the safe zone is and as long my 10hp brewed down account didn’t step past it, we’d get the torva.
I actually almost did too . I was hovering the barrier w my mouse and he went feral
“SIGN IT SHREK” meme (ifykyk) basically gave him away and when I refused saying for all I know he’s in on it, he snapped.

I encountered this lure about a month ago, identical to this. after the other guy got the stuff at shanty pass, I stopped playing along. The person I met was talking swedish, the other "lure victim" that is.
Everyone behind a screen acts all tough with threats of irl violence, but very very few act on it, or have the resources to even get someone to act on it. I hope you remain safe KempQ, and I hope those people get caught trying to do some shady shit and end up in jail for it.

Man i remember having 10 million GP as a kid back around 2007. I would spend days mining rune essence, coal, and flipping trades on the forums and trade worlds. When my irl friends got me to start playing WoW, I ended up giving all but something like 250k to an in-game friend. Figured if I ever ended up wanting to play again 250k would me more than enough to start trading my way back up again. Might have to try recovering that old account just to see how it's doing.
