One thing I think is sometimes missed in the Decepticons' drunken indulgence is that, yes, it's funny -- but it's also clear that they genuinely love Cybertron as much as the Autobots do. Megatron misses the hell out of that place
Well, a lot of fans feel that the war broke out partly because the Decepticons felt that the best way to protect Cybertron from hostile aliens was to form a large empire and conquer alien races first before they could attack Cybertron. The Autobots of course felt that conquering alien races was wrong and that they should live in peace with them and treat them as equals which the Decepticons felt was stupids and that Cybertronians were the master race. Such an ideological schism of course always leads to war which is sad as both Autobots and Decepticons care about Cybertron but they couldn't agree on how best to protect it.
@@girlgarde not to mention if you played the Fall of Cybertron storyline, the ancient age of Cybertron has reach the glorious age, it stated that such technology is lost during the war, eons of warfare causing their technology and themselves to degenerate to such state that their ancestors is way more advance than their current self... which is a bad realization in our real life that every high up answer to everything is... by fire steel

Double the budget for the score. Honestly, the score and the animation were the two things that I loved most about this series. And then came Season 3...😐
I was able to get the original score on an LP a couple of years back on eBay. It resembles a golden disk with symbols from each faction on either side. So cool.
Not completely shameless: any tracks incorporating the G.I. Joe melody weren't included, and Joe didn't have TF melodies AFAIK. Which aren't bad if they're done right. For example, I usually like shrinking episodes when the characters that undergo it don't mean to be shrunk on purpose. That happened in TMNT, 80's DuckTales, Smurfs, etc.
A quite famous episode. Not only it featured good animation, we also had a good insight on the anatomic structure of a Transformer. Too bad Beast Wars changed all that with the introduction of the Spark concept. Plus that infamous scene with the drunken Decepticons gave the Transformers a touch of huanity.
Not to mention how good looking Optimus look in this episode compare to some other episodes. His best appearance is in the series finale of Season 3, the Hate Plague arc.
@@minicle426 l agree and l think that's the problem with all the modern takes on Transformers..they've completely lost the essence of what made the original show work so well.
I’m convinced the Heart of Cybertron isn’t really connected to Cybertron itself like the Matrix is. The Matrix of Leadership is the literal heart of Robo-God himself. This thing is nothing more than a glorified Chaos Emerald.
Funny you should bring up Chaos Emeralds, seeing as how the Sonic the Hedgehog comic is now being produced by IDW, the same guys who publish the TransFormers comics. I wonder if a TransFormers/Sonic crossover event might be in the offing one of these days? While Sonic whips out the seven chaos emeralds to go Super Saiya-- err, Sonic, Optimus Prime whips out the Autobot matrix, the Key to Vector Sigma, the Ferrotaxis, the Heart of Cybertron, the Allspark, the Golden Disks, and The Enigma of Combination to become-- ummmm... PowerMaster Optimus Prime, I guess? Actually, it's more likely IDW will have their other video-game comic property Mega Man cross paths with the TransFormers. Now, THAT'S some hot bot-on-bot action-- um, wait, let me rephrase that...
@@zagnorch1336 my head canon is for that Crossover is that Unicron made the chaos emeralds in an attempt to counter Primus' 13 Primes. To make the Chaos Emeralds, Unicron collapsed 7 Solar Systems and harnessed the power from them to make 7 gems of power to fuel himself. Before he could use them, Unicron was defeated and the 13 Prime recovered them and brought them to Primus to be destroyed. Saddened by the sacrifice made to create the gems, Primus attempts to purify the gems of their evil, but is only half-successful, as they can still be used to bring ruination. He decided to scatter them to a remote part of the Galaxy. In addition, in order to keep them grounded on the side of order and unity, Primus creates the Master Emerald from part of his own spark in order to keep the Chaos Emeralds in check should they run rampant with their binary use of power, before launching it after the Chaos Emeralds.
Perceptor can't even transform into a alt mode that can go faster than walking speed lol. He's be killed in seconds on the battlefield. Not an intelligent use of resources.

@@lkultra2248 If you watch the first 3-part episode, you will notice that the Nemesis detatched from the Ark as it spun out of control. The Ark fell to Earth while the Nemesis was sent off into deep space.
Funny how this is still the best series 35 years later. With all the improvements to animation technology the powers at be could still never figure out how to make a better Transformers show.
@@ceoofceos5219 Prime was the next best one in my opinion. I wasn't crazy about the 3 kids, or the other human characters. Similar to most iterations of TF including G1 the human characters tended to be the weak link. The stories or parts of stories that focused more on the robots tended to be more appealing.
I never understood why this episode is far and away the best animation of the series. Some episodes were downright awful, while here we get crisp, clean, and colorful animations.
They were forced to rely on cheaper Korean animation studios like AKOM for backup because there were three times as many episodes as Season 1 and they had to meet deadlines.
This always stands out as one of the better episodes imo. Animation is PERFECT, and if you just watch the pacing of it, it demonstrates why this cartoon was one of a kind. It wasn’t forcing anything, it wasn’t people-pleasing and trying to make you laugh or go “oooh aaah” at anything. It was just classic transformers, which at the end of the day was a cartoon that was super confident in what it was. And that confidence came through and made the show a classic. It’s like an older suv before they became overly technical, trendy and posh, or a classic Ralph Lauren shirt. Nothing flashy, just timeless, dependable and pleasing!
Nobody finds anything remotely strange about an archeologist with blue hair at the beginning of this episode? Optimus Prime: "Something's been discovered in South America, something Megatron wants. And if he wants it, we don't want him to get it." Meanwhile in South America, Megatron is ordering out. Megatron: "I want a double cheeseburger, hold the onions, a large fries, and a medium Diet Coke..."
I'm more partial to the season 3&4 theme, myself. However, the second-season opening features my favorite visuals, especially Omega Supreme squishing Blitzwing under his foot, then turning away to fire on Astrotrain as Scrapper scoops up & hauls away Blitzwing's flattened tank-carcass.
@@zagnorch1336 The 3&4 series theme was also my favorite. And, also, the animation WHEN it was whichever animation studio did clean up work for a couple of episodes/scenes, particularly some of The Return of Optimus Prime. Otherwise, it was animation by the lowest possible bidder from season 3 to the end.
Season 2 FTW! As the season goes on, you can see better animation and the 'glossy' look to the materials, warming us up to the visuals of the movie. Pure Awesome!

They both had Spider-Man music, and probably could've added Hulk stuff if they wanted. Why pay for new scores, and who wants to bet Rob Walsh and Johnny Douglas had no contract stipulations regarding usage outside of the intended products?
Does anyone know of the track at the start
The deceptive cons drunk off of energy on oh my goodness LOL they were drinking the good stuff y’all
Energon beer the Energy of beers.
Drunk laserbeak hitting the ground! 😆
@@eastbayej does soundwave know not to gave his pet bird a beer

@@thesailormercury2 Basically , energon = liquid energy; the equivalent of high-proof IPA or Everclear - which is why the Decepticons were - literally - too drunk to fly. (I normally drink Dogfish 90 Minute IPA - nine percent alcohol by volume. I limit myself to one bottle per meal - and only at dinner. It is brewed in Milford, DE - which makes me wonder if this is the "secret weakness" of the Bidens. No - the Bidens are NOT why I started drinking it; I first tried a different IPA from the same brewery at my birthday dinner five years ago - which also marked my first full year clear of cancer of any sort - Dogfish "Arrogant B*tch" a specialty variant of 90 Minute IPA. India Pale Ales are not weak; they have higher alcohol content than most standard beers - including imported beers. For that reason, I refer to them as "military-strength".) The last six-pack of 90 Minute IPA lasted me three months.)

One of the best animated shows on tv, I hope there are some younger people on here enjoying it to. Great stories.

@@prowlsleftfoot 1st season had a lot of the best episodes IMO
@@SignOfTheTimes008 it is, but season 2 has some of the best characters (like seaspray and perceptor imo)
Perceptor is the administrative professional of the autobots. If not for him, the other autobots wouldn't be healed quickly.
I guess having Ratchet around is kind of redundant then.
"Real work is crushing Decepticons, not fussing with chips!"
Says the guy who's gonna get crushed by said Decepticons 20 years later.
"Leave him alone, Brawn! Or you're gonna tango with me!" Bumble Bee is pretty brave and badass.

This was one of the episodes that all the guys at school talked about the next day. And how great it was.
David wise did some impressive Transformers stories.
My favorite show growing up as a kid,man I really miss the early 1980s😥😢
Same here
I'm a '90s kid, but even I miss the '80s lol
Prime did put Brawn in his place for sure but Brawn saw how Perceptor was just as brave as he is brilliant
16:20: Brawn predicted to stay quarantined. Lol!
I swear. It seems like every cartoon from the 80s/90s had a shrinking episode.
Which aren't bad if they're done right. For example, I usually like shrinking episodes when the characters that undergo it don't mean to be shrunk on purpose. That happened in TMNT, 80's DuckTales, Smurfs, etc.
Because micro everything was a fad back then like Micro machines and mini action figures that come out of gumball machines
SOUNDWAVE GET YO CHILD 12:38 WE DONT STAND UNDERAGED DRINKING
Decepticons getting hammered. Classic stuff they don't let on the air today.
Yeah that Spark thing really grates on me.
Speaking of spark 16:53
Honestly I never cared for the concept of a 'Spark' or the 'Allspark'. It went to far into the realms of mysticism for me.
@@minicle426 l agree and l think that's the problem with all the modern takes on Transformers..they've completely lost the essence of what made the original show work so well.

12:17 when Decepticons have party! 🥳🎉
I’m convinced the Heart of Cybertron isn’t really connected to Cybertron itself like the Matrix is. The Matrix of Leadership is the literal heart of Robo-God himself. This thing is nothing more than a glorified Chaos Emerald.
So, it must be zel quartz
XD
If it’s equal to a chaos emeralds, it is still very strong.
Bumblebee is right in real life armies don't need have just fighters. Doctors lawyers, scientists, chiefs and even musicians
Most importantly, competent leadership.

One of the better Season 2 eps. Between the drunken energon scene and the Starscream looking stunning with the boa, it was pretty hilarious.
"He's horizontal" 16:38
Guys Megatron is horizontal!
I laughed so hard at this
That is the most powerful Decepticon warship in Transformers history! The ship that shot down the Ark itself! The Nemesis!
No. The Nemesis is at the bottom of the ocean. Which also happens to be the Decepticon HQ
The ship at the bottom of the ocean is the space cruiser the Deceptions built in the pilot mini series and crash landed in the ocean due to Mirage dodging a blast that hit the computer counsel during one of Starscreamers coup attempts. It’s not the Nemesis that crashed at the same time the Ark did
@@lkultra2248 You're wrong. The ship that crashed as not the Nemesis, it was a second space cruiser that they built after losing the original ship.
@@crsrdash-840b5 where does it say that?
@@lkultra2248 If you watch the first 3-part episode, you will notice that the Nemesis detatched from the Ark as it spun out of control. The Ark fell to Earth while the Nemesis was sent off into deep space.
A toast for the Decepticons for getting drunk then the 3 Autobots took advantage inside Megatron
Funny how this is still the best series 35 years later. With all the improvements to animation technology the powers at be could still never figure out how to make a better Transformers show.
Maybe if they followed closely to certain storylines. Like from this series and the comics.
Eh, I’d say Prime is better.
Beast Wars Animated
@@arielfilmsinc1926 Yeah, I know people who are into Beast Wars, personally I was never into it.
I never understood why this episode is far and away the best animation of the series. Some episodes were downright awful, while here we get crisp, clean, and colorful animations.
Are You Talking About The AKOM-Animated TRANSFORMERS G1 Episodes? Because AKOM Did The Messiest Animation While TOEI ANIMATION Doesn't.
They were forced to rely on cheaper Korean animation studios like AKOM for backup because there were three times as many episodes as Season 1 and they had to meet deadlines.
@@IndyCrewInNYC
The fact this show became a huge cultural phenomenon despite this speaks volumes.
They probably do regret saving Megatron's life. Especially Brawn, Ratchet, and Wheeljack....
And if he wants it, we don't want him to get it."
Meanwhile in South America, Megatron is ordering out.
Megatron: "I want a double cheeseburger, hold the onions, a large fries, and a medium Diet Coke..."
The Decepticons made quick work of them after while introducing themselves lol
I love how the Decepticons overdosed on Energon. It was funny seeing how they acted.
This show brings back sweet memories of my childhood when life was simpler, people were nicer, and the world was just a darn better place.
Yes life was better when you're unaware of all the crap going on the outside.
Ignorance is bliss

G1’s Season 2 theme is my most favorite out of the three seasons for the series.
Same. This is the one I remember best.
Especially the beginning
Yeah the excited anticipation l used to feel as a kid while watching that opening sequence was unreal.
