  • On this segment we port and develop a D15b / D16z6 intake for a Petron Bracket and Grid Race competitor

    We explore the ways that we port this specific intake, the contours we shoot for and its limits. We start from carbide then to two specific grit levels on the sanding roll.
    Also discussed is the preferred sequence of tig welding by our friend Carlo that prevents and minimizes flange warping during the welding stage
    We also port match it to a Bseries throttle diameter.
    Our page is active as we post almost daily stuff we do at the shop check it at

    Ralf as usual giving out gems. I truly believe for small circuits and autocross, d series is king. A well setup d15 or d16 with its low weight will help with weight distribution keeping the front end as light as we can get it with our already front heavy cars. Not ideal for drag racing but corner turn in sharpness and response, its ideal. Secondly people complain about not having enough power when in reality, especially for small tight circuits or autocross, most of that power and excessive torque is wasted in fwd. D series actually have some of the most efficient power bands with a smooth curve and alot of useable power under the curve. They make little enough torque that u can run stock body and fender with a 205 summer tire and never have issues on corner exit yet such a smooth powerband u can carry the power through and feel no lag in delivery. (B series has this issue, aside from b20v, if u fall below 6-7k rpm ur not going anywhere) and Ks on small circuits make too much torque requiring the chassis to need major mods.
    Moreover, the reliability of D series is UNMATCHED. Its the best platform for any circuit racer beginner or professional to get in some seat time, hone their driving, and set some competitve numbers with low risk and less time in the pits

      Couldn’t agree more… it’s why the Mugen GT3/4 CRX with a D16a6 did wonders back then against big power cars

      Omg u on a p30 ? Didn’t know… oh man that would make your b20vtec an even more earth shattering torque machine 🤣

    Was the full length of the intake track ported ?
    Where is fuel introduced into the engine?
    How do you know how much to port the manifold?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes it’s ported thru and thru (as shown in the video)
      fuel is injected into the head intake port
      The runner entry on the manifold is limited to wall thickness , before u get to “too much” u already punched a hole so it’s near impossible to over do the entry…
