All this is great information Ralph. I’m from Australia and was in the Philippines for work, not far from you actually. I was going to come past the workshop and show some picks of my DC2. But I got Covid while I was there and it shorted my trip. I just want to ask, what intake mani would you recommend for my setup? B20 with sleeved 86mm bore x 89mm stroke so it’s actually a B21 when you round it up. It’s been O ringed too but is still too dicey to run boost, so I want to get the most out of N/A, it currently has kelford 176-c cams and has 190hp at the wheels currently, looking for more but the midrange is superb! Any help from someone with plenty experience would be greatly appreciated!😊

Sorry it shortened your trip… I agree 86mm bore is mostly for NA and that’s alright u got a good cam right there In this rare instance if you aren’t running ITR manifold or if you are, an Ultra Street or Race skunk2 would give u more top end as the displacement already takes care of the midrange
Thanks so much for response, they were my thoughts too. I currently have a Victor X that I’d bought way back and was going to use it for forced induction. It carries up to 10000 rpm but I feel the engine has more to offer through the middle, especially with the lowish rod stroke ratio. Many thanks again and keep up the awesome work!!! 🤙
Would it make a worth while difference to fill and flow the end of the phlenem chamber or would this over charge intakes three and four,a case of while you are in there job.

Oh yes yes the victorX has 4in runners so it’s real short so most likely loss of midrange regardless of comp BUT…at above 8,200 rpm the victorX will start to shine so it’s a “pick your poison” kinda thing…

Based on the 3rd harmonic that was calculated, wouldn't a ported P30 manifold be just as efficient or better on an ITR for circuit racing or just in general?
in General yes actually especially for circuit racing atleast for me... and the dynograph and the track 🤣 its why i started porting the P30 manifold years back , because i noticed the length is near ideal, so a lil volume here n there would def help atleast get "near" the ITR top end lets not forget to facor in "cams" with that calculation id prolly run a Pro2 cam even on a b18 :) no prob midrange and the cam can take care of the top hmmmm :)

I think in this case, measuring the intake volume of the ITR plenum and modifying the P30 as you suggested would be the ideal setup. Or maybe that's why the Skunk2 intake manifold for the D series has such long runners that it is practically right up against the brake prop valve on the firewall. Interesting things to recall after watching your videos.

Currently the 3rd harmonic is at 8000 to 9200 even without the port in the head and my rev limiter is at 7200. It's not a manifold suited for this engine and I think it clearly shows that
@@miralemnermina142 depends on engine and set up… when u mentioned 7,200 I was thinking b20 crv engine that’s why the b20 intake manifold has a way longer runner than even the p30 (have not measured it yet but we know it’s long) Same with the d16z6 and d16y8 sohc intake manifold the runners are longer as it bends upwards

Hey Chief, after porting the head or intake manifold, is it ok to paint the inside with a special non peeling paint to have a smoother surface? Can this help or it is useless.
IMO too scary I mean it might still peel… but I guess polishing it to a finer grit is def doable as I’ve done that, just too tiring 😀 and the Makita screaming “stop” But good thing to bring it up… as generally a lot get confused by mixing different aspects of different “practice” Our intake manifold is “dry flow” Why? Cuz no fuel yet 😎 and the characteristics and reactions in a dry flow aren’t always identical to “wet flow”

Hi, I got some question. I also use the P30 intake manifold, if I do this Port and Polish in my intake manifold, the function is same as ITR manifold or better than it?
Maybe a bit the same but it’s complicated…. Example on a B16a yes it could work like that but for a B18 or B20 the ITR might work better because of volume it’s bigger
Really hard to estimate gains like that alone as u see on the example it upgraded to CTR cams too but it’s safe to see 5-8% gains on manifold alone and more with other complimentary parts
I know an SiR 4door that went for this and after the manifold upgrade it can easily “chirp” third gear like light spin and when stock manifold it couldnt
it has some effect to fuel consumption. for a daily driven car, better go with long runner since you won't be revving the engine high all the time. you'd be on low to mid-range RPM most of the time
@@n.shiina8798 yeah the effect is “usable power” u step less on the gas cuz u got torque = more efficient than “less midrange” but step on the gas more… if that makes sense

Nice the 70mm tb is a decent upgrade and probably a cold air intake extension that helps daily driving torque improvements

I think that could be worth while I mean notice on the ultra street? That end is smaller… and one can look at it differently and consider it “filled”
When you say that you dip the porting bit in ... Was that, 'mix EPF?+ mineral spirits.' and if so what does EPF stand for?
ATF (automatic transmission fluid) that’s lighter than motor oil and the mineral spirits can be kerosene to further lighten it up

It's not a manifold suited for this engine and I think it clearly shows that
3rd harmonic because that’s the length that we can physically try to fit in the engine bay

Why? Cuz no fuel yet 😎 and the characteristics and reactions in a dry flow aren’t always identical to “wet flow”
Do you want your engine ingesting that paint when it peels off? Polish it to a mirror like finish that's how its properly done.

Apparently alot of people have been pondering about it for different reasons, while I haven't read a claim that one has have done it, this train of thought was more often than not responded to with foul languages 🤣

Hi, I got some question. I also use the P30 intake manifold, if I do this Port and Polish in my intake manifold, the function is same as ITR manifold or better than it?
Maybe a bit the same but it’s complicated…. Example on a B16a yes it could work like that but for a B18 or B20 the ITR might work better because of volume it’s bigger

What hp gains expected from this particular port job
Really hard to estimate gains like that alone as u see on the example it upgraded to CTR cams too but it’s safe to see 5-8% gains on manifold alone and more with other complimentary parts
I know an SiR 4door that went for this and after the manifold upgrade it can easily “chirp” third gear like light spin and when stock manifold it couldnt
long runners and short runners, which or does it affect fuel consumption? lets say on a daily driven car.
I’d choose long runners
Mainly cuz I like big cams 😀
it has some effect to fuel consumption. for a daily driven car, better go with long runner since you won't be revving the engine high all the time. you'd be on low to mid-range RPM most of the time
@@n.shiina8798 yeah the effect is “usable power” u step less on the gas cuz u got torque = more efficient than “less midrange” but step on the gas more… if that makes sense
@@SRDmotorsports totally agree. i smirked everytime people deleted variable-length intake manifold for the sake of "high flow" ones on their modern engines. it's not only about the maximum flow!

What motor did you use for that set up did you have stock pistons or high compression piston with the p30 intake manifold
@@Lorenzo-t8d it had CTR cams and arias pistons but stock 81 bore we have a dyno here of it , it’s the white ek civic siR last year… made 181-183whp I think
