  • The air shocks on my 2013 Street Glide just weren't cuttin' it. The ride needed to be smoother and I wanted more fine tuning adjustability.
I chose Russ Wernimont Designs RS-1 Shocks. His piggy-back reservoir shocks are premium-grade with excellent valving features for an optimum ride. And I trust his over 30 years of suspension experience.
The RS-1 Shocks greatly smoothed out the ride and made the Street Glide easier to handle in turns. And riding 2-up was a huge improvement also.
You can buy your RS-1 shocks for $979.99 at:

I don't know why, but the sticker on the reservoir being upside down after being installed drives me NUTS!! I know ya can't see it after the bags are on and I'm sure these shocks fit quite a few different bikes, but it's just one of those OCD things I guess

I replaced my stock 2019 Electra Glide Standard shocks with the RMD's. What an amazing difference!! Been riding 54 years and this is one of the most dramatic upgrades ever. Standard has only 1.5" total travel of which .0" (yes, 0) goes to no-load sag and .5" goes to rider sitting sag. So you have only 1" travel for a hit and only .5" (with no dampening) for a dip before bottoming. Could never find a compromise. Used 13" instead of 12" RMD shocks and gained another inch + they suggested and I used .5" no load sag and 1" rider load sag. So now I have 1.5" for dips and 1.5" for hits with dampening in both directions. In Florida with drainage gutters at every road juncture, I no longer have to cringe to take the double hit; on the high speed Interstates, the bike is stable and I don't even flinch anymore when I have to hit either cracks, raised concrete/asphalt edges or debris. Absolutely amazing--you are correct!

I had been thinking about getting a set of these RWDs for my 2014 Limited. After watching your video I decided to order a set. I installed them last night. You're right on the money! These are a huge upgrade!

My 2015 limited stock shocks were not making the grade. After a lengthy research decided on the RS-1 shock 13" from RWD. I was a moron for waiting so long. Don't trade your bike in trade your shocks in. Like a different machine, rides better then the 2020 I have ridden on demo rides. Rode some roads in FL that would have jacked my spine but not an issue on the RS-1. I am not going to tell you that they disappeared but they no longer jarred me or my wife. She absolutely loves them. The front shocks are C##p in comparison, not going to wait, going to update my front shocks ASAP.

Your review is 100% spot on! First and foremost, those shocks really show how crappy the front suspension is and I changed my RGS forks out to cartridges the very next day. My RS-1’s ride so plush, but when driven out of a full speed corner, they squat and track to perfection! I now have 15,000 miles of shear comfort and performance on these phenomenal shocks!

Bob Pavlin turn of the dial can be by graph or by feel. It is individual by weight. Very good ride

I have these but they seem to be a bit too soft. I have the springs about an 1 3/4 turn up and they are ok now but still soft. I’m only 200 lbs and my wife is 125 so we’re under the weight for both. I’ve even turned the red knob because the black knob wasn’t doing anything.

  • @dynamyke96
    @dynamyke96 3 ปีที่แล้ว

How come you did not use the O-Rings that are supplied with shocks? Supposed to put one on top outside and one on bottom outside (both sides) between spacer and shock.

Hello Sir, I’m in the market for rear shocks, I can’t make up my mind. I’ve researching the following, RWD, legends, fox, Ohlins.
    What made you pick RWD?
    Thanks

Just a quick note, the spring weights you have in the video are not what's listed on the RWD website. They have the following: STANDARD - Solo Rider 299 lbs or less / 2UP 350 or less
HEAVY DUTY - Solo Rider 300 lbs or more / 2UP 351 or more.

You do realize that just turning the spring does nothing right? You need to adjust the collar up as you first mentioned. Also, to set proper sag, measure straight up off the axle to a frame point. not the spring length.

Unfortunately there is no front shock they offer to pair so you have to go with RWD for the rear then hunt for a new front shock. for me this would be a pass, I am planning to upgrade but i will go with a brand that offer both front and rear

It no different than switching out the shocks on my Chevy truck, Razor, etc etc. as H-D would have to charge $50k for the touring bikes if they upgraded to all performance parts.
