    So glad I saw this video, I just upgraded my bars to 12" and replaced my rear suspension on my 2014 SGS with the Legend Revo rear shocks and yes it is like night and day vs the Harley stock suspension but now I am feeling the "loose" front end that you describe. It looks like I am going to have to upgrade the front as well. Those 2 upgrades were not cheap but knowing that my ride will be that much better by replacing the front end then it's money well spent IMO. I appreciate the content you put out here so that people can be better informed.

    I just tried to have suspension upgraded, front and rear. Everybody swears this is the first upgrade everybody should do. I got the front installed (Fox HD cartridges), but the rear became an issue. I bought the HD IFP-QSR 13" FOX shocks, but when installed the axle nut and swingarm would hit the exhaust. Local HD dealer was dong the install. So may end up swapping out the 13" Fox shocks for the 12" Fox versions instead. Right now went back to stock 12" shocks for now. But 12" Fox shocks still should be much better than stock on the rear, but was hoping to goto the 13" shocks so I can get the extra travel. But just a warning for some that you may have to adjust in some way for many of the 4 1/2" pipes we all tend to use if you go with 13" shocks. Local dealer mentioned some pipes seem to be ok, some aren't. Love to hear form others watching ways in which they get around some of these issues or if you ran into issues like this. Heard some hammered their pipes creating more indentications to make it work. Or perhaps some sort of spacer or something else. Open for suggestions.

      Thanks Gerry for watching and commenting. I have 4.5" Tab and Rineharts that I have run with 13" Legends and not issues hitting the axle nut. I have heard some have had issues with Khromewerks 4.5 inch slip ons. That has been my experience. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. I have legends on my SG and RK. Absolutely love them. On the RK I only have them on the rear and can definitely feel the crappy front end. I use this mainly as my practice bike so the front shocks are on the back burner. Putting the 13" legends on the rear though brought the bike up and I'm not scraping nearly as much. You can never go wrong with legends. Great video brother

    I have Legends Suspension on the back of my street glide sp. Two yrs. ago I was on a road trip from Ohio to California. About half way there I noticed the back of my bike was feeling a bit different. My first thought was low tire pressure. I checked it and it was a bit low so I added a couple of pounds of air hoping that would do the trick. Well it didn't. Got to California and rode up the PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy) and stopped at a Harley dealer hoping they would take a look at it. Well with my luck they couldn't (or wouldn't) and they said Legends h.q. is in Sturgis. So I headed there. Got there a few mins before they closed. One guy was leaving and he came over to me asking if everything was ok. I explained my situation and went back into the shop. A minute later he came out with a coworker. They said they couldn't do anything at the moment but come back tomorrow when we open and they would take a look. I came back the next day and they got me right in. One of the rear shocks had failed. About two hrs latter I was good to go and on the road. No charge because of a lifetime warranty. My next bike will definitely have Legends (front and back).

      Thanks Scott for sharing that story. It's good to know that the warranty is truly honored. So far I haven't had any issues and wow what a great ride with the front and rear system. 👍✌️👊

    I had the Revo A 13 s on my 2018 RGS for about 3 years and loved them but being short-legged and getting older I just put on the 12-inch heavy duty, I didn't notice much of a difference so far. Legends makes a great product

    I mounted a pair of Revo Arc shocks on my FXR4 and it was amazing. Set the preload according to the instructions and adjust the clickers to get the ride you want. Now the front end feels horrible. If I had the money, I would change front and rear at the same time. Raising the rear of the bike an inch does make the handling a little quicker but that will level out when I do the forks.
    thanks for the video

    I just switched from a 22 SGST to a 13 SG. The 22 had the Progressive remote reservoir rear shocks. That bike just felt more planted to the road. I had much more confidence cornering. I've only put a few miles on the 13 so far (it has Ledgend suspension in the rear guessing nothing done to the front) but that loose front end feel was instant! Very glad I found this video. I have seen a few of your other videos. But obviously this one was well worth the watch.

    I ride a 2008 Road King classic and self-installed the 13-inch Legend Revo a rear shocks. I definitely feel an improvement in going over small bumps. I too have experienced the wiggle feeling coming from the front because those are still stock suspension. So I want to get the axio legend front suspension and decided I'm going to go with the more expensive type for touring as opposed to performance.

    Your correct about the rears out performing the front end after legends installation. I did the rears and it only took a few decent rides on different conditions of roads. Legends has several of their own videos to help pick what's right to choose from and how to set them up correctly. I love my 13 inch heavy duty Revo A on my 21 SG,im about 275lbs with a tour pack and my girlfriend were speaking over 500lbs. It rides great solo without tour pack or 2 up with tour pack. I set my sag to 1 inch and forget it no matter what rides along with me. Very comfortable. Probably going with Ohlins on the front though if you ever watch the guy doing a compare to 1 another with the oil valve can be adjusted with Ohlins. Legends you have to take it completely apart. Keep rubber the side down.

    I have Legends 13” on my Street Glide, and 13” Pro Action shocks on my Road Glide. The Pro Action shocks ride like a cloud, and also out handle the Legends by a long shot. The Pro Actions handle both solo and two-up perfectly. The Legends when set up for solo, will bottom badly when two-up, and when set for two-up they ride like a 2x4 when solo. There are many better options than Legends.

I compress the spring quite a bit to get to comfort zone as I adjusted for me, wife and load so maybe that's why. When I decompress the spring before tire service was done there was plenty of clearance as shock compressed easily under bike load only. If your pre load is for single rider I will see how this wouldn't be an issue. Sucks to damage $1000 pipes but at least it is hidden but bugs my mind a bit when I think about it.

    First of all I want to thank you for the feedback on this very important suspension issue that you have given in your video. On the other hand, I want to ask you in your opinion what is the best solution to prevent the wheels damage, especially the front one, from being damaged by falling into bumps; I am thinking of replacing the original 19-inch front RIN that my 2022 Street Glide Special comes with an 18-inch one with a fat 180/55 R18 tire and also putting a front suspension on it, Legend, AXEO Comfort and also replacing the rear suspension with some 13-inch REVO-A shock absorbers, as you suggested in your video, my question for you would be if, based on your experience, do you think that with these improvements I will obtain a better driving experience and reduce the chances of damaging my wheels again? I live in Mexico and the roads in my country are not in very good condition like in the United States in Canada. thanks for your feedback and all the best!

      Thanks for watching and commenting. The 13s give you more travel. You set the preload with you on it at 12 inch center bolt to bolt. If you get 12s, you set them at 11 1/2 center bolt to bolt. • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and commenting. That is interesting to hear. One thing I've noticed in the past is if the front tire pressure is low by even just a few pounds the front end will feel unstable. I generally run 38 lbs in the front and 40 in the rear. The other thing could be if your tour pack is loaded, the weight is really high which could give it a different feel. Perhaps take the tour pack off and see if you notice a difference. The other thing to consider is do you have your saddlebags filled evenly or weighted evenly. More weight on one side or the other can cause a strange feel as well. I've had two RG specials (2009 and 2015) and got a 2022 RG limited a year ago. Balance at low speeds and parking has been an issue from the start. The height (?) and extra 50 lbs. from the tour pack are what I think cause this. I'm converting to a detachable TP and was thinking of installing Legends 12 inch to lower it a bit to match the ride of my old RG. It came with 13-inch shocks. Is that a bad idea since Harley built it with 13" shocks?

    • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and commenting. If you go with the 13" Legends, you actually set the preload so the bike with you on it sits at 12 inches. Mine with me on...right at 12 inch center bolt to center bolt. When I'm off it the bike sits at 12.5 inches. I'd go 13s to get a better ride....about 1 inch more travel in the shock. First, thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate the very kind words. As for your question, before putting on the front Axeos, mine felt unstable in the front end when at higher speeds going through curves, the front end would shake, shimmy or sway a bit. Once, I was going straight, no problem. I at times was a bit unnerving. However, now that I have the front and rears on...goes down the road straight or in curves like it's on rails. Many motorcyclists make this mistake. You only change the setup of the spring/damping on one axis. But that's not right, because the entire vehicle has to be considered in the chassis setup. Longer shock absorbers not only affect the ground clearance, they also change the caster and thus also have an influence on the riding stability and handling of the motorcycle. There are even more mistakes that you are only too happy to make: The other air filter, which is supposed to deliver more power - without adjusting the timing and the exhaust, this is almost hopeless or only a suboptimal result to be expected. A intake and exhaust systems are also matched to each other for optimal results. And for this purpose, an adjustment of the mixture and, if necessary, the control times must also be taken into account. Everything else follows the principle of hope.
    For this reason (to have optimally matched front and rear) Wilbers offers its Nivomat suspension with the matching spring and the corresponding oil for the fork. The system isn't really cheap, but it's very good and automatically adaptive. It doesn't get any more comfortable than this.

      @@HDVIBE If I may mention this here: I find it really shameful on the part of the Motor Company that they do not install really good suspensions in the top models of the Tourer class from the factory. Since I also ride a Ducati SBK, have ridden various other motorcycles as well, all of which had much better suspensions than HD installed in series, I sometimes seriously wonder how long HD thinks they only let themselves be paid for the name. The consumer will take a much closer look at what he is getting for his hard-earned money with the general price increase. He will think twice about spending so much on an HD if he also has to invest a lot to bring the motorcycle up to an adequate technical level. Even the PanAm has a better chassis and also Ride Height Control, why isn't there something like that for the RGS/SGS? A great chassis simply belongs in such tourers. As Standard.

    • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Its well known that the Axeo front suspension is WAY to stiff, both in preload and damping. When nearly everyone that sets preload at 1 finds it too firm, and 2 and 3 are completely useless, there is a clear problem with the cartridges. Go elsewhere.
