@@Madebymick We are, I believe. My husband has had a lawn business for over 20 years here in Florida. He's been doing many of customers lawns he's had since the beginning. He talks to his customers. Many of them elderly, they have children, and grandchildren living with them now for many reasons, but some can't afford to feed their children, and pay their bills. Sad. I waste no money. I see what I believe is coming. I learned a long time ago, if I crank up my car, it cost me money. I still enjoy life, but my enjoyment has changed through the years. Potluck family dinners and backyard games. That's what we do. Apartment is looking great.
She's one lucky daughter. It's up to us to help our adult children get started. We helped both of ours buy their houses ($) and we pay daycare for all grands. We often clean, mow, do laundry for them as well. Busy families with children need help. We're honored that they allow us to do so.
So I got to say a few things. 1. You have the most calming voice. I love your videos and watching you work. 2. You are such a dad. I love all the jokes you make. So funny. 3. I wish I knew just half of what you know about building. You are so knowledgeable. Keep up the great videos. Watching from Australia.
Wonderful of you to do all of this for your daughter. You are very skillful at doing very exacting work. sure wish I had you around my house!! Blessings from central Georgia.
Your dust dispersal system is simple and effective. You can never have enough storage and I think your daughter will have a place for everything. It's all coming together nicely.
Missed you. Hope all is well. Keep the videos coming. I love watching you work, a really good carpenter/ builder. The best ones are in the south and midwest.
Hi Mick! Painting already!? Wow, you are moving along fast! I think the walk-in pantry/utility closet is awesome. 👍👍 Even with the step-up, it has way more storage than I have. Plus the linen (?) closet will be so handy. You can’t go wrong with extra storage. This will help her not need extra furniture! Take care and God bless! 😊
Hi 👋 we’re moving along, can’t wait to share the progress. I agree, the pantry/utility closet is turning out really nice!👍 Thanks so much for the feedback, thanks and God bless!
Yeah, I snickered when you bopped your noggin. At least the cute lil hunk kept coming in to check on you. He is an excellent supervisor. I think I will buy him a mini cattleprod to use for those days when you're slackin & I will pay the cat to film the shocking event. Ahhhhh, I feel better now. 😁😹🤣✌️🐾🐾🇱🇷
I can’t believe you got a chuckle out of my noggin bump.😂 He is a good supervisor, but I don’t like the idea of the cattleprod, cause I have a lot of days when I’m slacking. I agree though, it would make for some great footage. 😂👍🇺🇸
Great job you are doing. On that cupboard, where you hit your head, I would suggest that you may want to make it a concealed/hidden door by putting a mirror or picture to hide it. 🤔🤷
I think you do a great job, your daughter should be well pleased. The only thing I thought of with the tiny closet, is perhaps if you had made roll out shelving as it is so slim. Roll out shelving would make it much easier to use all the space. Just a thought.
@@TinaP1234I agree about the shelves, but the corner brace post is nailed in place, which means the flooring will have to be cut to fit around it. would have been easier to lay the flooring first.
Caulking a a couple coats of paint these clothes will be clean and use full storage. Hitting your head never feels good for ,hazard of being taller and worjing on a job site. The finnaly finish will be amazing. Maybe some day you will live her and give your daughter the main house.
Yeah the shelving painted up nicely, and the heads feeling better also. 😁I wouldn’t mind trading places with her down the road. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Love watching this series. Question for you, why is the floor of the closet so high? I take it it is aligned with the finish floor of the main house, but was there a reason you didn't bring it down to the floor level of the new space? Also, did you consider removing a few inches of the floor right at the door frame so a full-sized door could be installed? I'm looking forward to seeing how you finish this project for your daughter! What a great dad you are!
Thank you, and yes it’s aligned with the main house floor. I could have cut the floor joists off in that area, and built walls to support it underneath, but it would have been a lot of extra work. Thanks for the kind words!
wondering if a few of the shelves could had hingers to fold them down in case the shelf was not needed or more height was needed. Small spaces need more tweaking. Enjoy your videos. Never realized how much goes into building.
Why? That is a family matter, why would you ask that? If he as a parent wants to do that at that time he can do that, why would you make him put it out there now before he even knows the charter of the man she will marry. I am sure many factors would be at play like rent and not just letting another man come in and take over what he has worked for.
You are making great progress. I'm very eager to see your next video.
Thanks, I’m getting close to finishing up the next video. 👍
Watching your progress is a tv show in itself.
Please post updates more often. 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks! I’m really enjoying sharing the progress.
I’m hoping I can help my kids this way but I’m retiring and want to let them have the main house and me have a casita.
That’s a great idea, I think we’re all having to get creative. Thanks for watching and commenting!
There's going to be a lot more families living under the same roof soon.
Great job.
many families in my neighborhood already do
I agree
I agree, I believe that’s the direction we’re headed.

If you had power in that big storage closet you could put a rechargeable vacuum in there.😊
That’s a great idea👍
It’s really a pleasure watching you work. This little apartment is going to be a real jewel.
Thank you 🙏
I think you should do the shiplap right over the flat panel door to make it blend in. Loving this channel! Thank you for sharing.
Great idea, glad you’re enjoying, thanks for watching and commenting!
Hoping all is well. It's been 2 weeks since your last post hopefully you will post something real soon❤❤😊😊

Been keeping up with this series and can’t wait for part 8!!!

I just found your channel this evening. You did an impressive transformation of this 60’s house.
Thank you.
Just checkin by. Hope you're all doing ok. Looking forward to the next instalment 😁🙄🙂
The tiny closet is the perfect candidate for a roll out shelf unit.
👍
Nice work! It's enjoyable watching you work. I love your top skill...😊
Thank you very much!
I am loving this. Thanks for sharing your daughter's new home.
Happy to hear that, thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Thats lots of storage, very nice closets.
Quite a bit for a small place right?

Shelves look great but that hit on the noggin would of hurt...bennie likes the new doorway he kept going in and out...😊
Thanks, and yeah it hurt a bit. Bennie did travel in and out a few times. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
This has been a most enjoyable series. Hello from South America.
Hello 👋 and thank you so much!
I've been watching for the next episode and was excited when this video popped up in my feed just now.🎉
Glad you’re enjoying, and looking forward to new videos, thanks for your support and comments! 👍
I think I'd have painted inside the closets and installed the flooring before adding shelves.
Depends on if you are rolling or spraying. If you are using a sprayer for the paint, installing the shelves beforehand works fine.
@@TinaP1234I agree about the shelves, but the corner brace post is nailed in place, which means the flooring will have to be cut to fit around it. would have been easier to lay the flooring first.
I like to use the paint sprayer, and this way I can caulk putty and paint the shelves in place. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Benny for MVP 🐾
👍
Love it! I was shocked you used mdf or particle for the shelving. Not good! Warpy warpy!
Come back and check it out when it’s all painted up nice and pretty.
I really appreciate and enjoy your content.
Glad to hear it, thank you.

You make it look so easy. Hope your head is OK.

Cool house I love the mid mod houses. Some neat features in this one. Good job!
It does have some cool features, thanks!

My guess is that the foundation wall to the main house was in the way. But I am commenting so that I can see what his answer is. 😀
Thank you, and yes it’s aligned with the main house floor. I could have cut the floor joists off in that area, and built walls to support it underneath, but it would have been a lot of extra work. Thanks for the kind words!

Great videos. Is the brick fireplace useable?
Thanks, and yes it is.
@@Madebymick Adds a lot of value to the space for sure. 👍
The door handle on the living room closet needs to be up higher!
It’s going to be awesome with more storage than most houses. Ha ha
Thanks! You’re right, it actually has a fair amount of storage.
😊
👍
Are you still working on the log cabin?
Some, but not as much as I would like to. As soon as I get the apartment done I’m excited to get back into the cabin.
You still have SNOW!!!
No, I’m just a little behind on the video footage. 😁
OUCH!!!
I guess that’s what hard hats are for. 😁

How is your cat getting in and out now?? …it’s cold out there!!
I got her a plug in house and put it in the back shed I closed in, she’s nice and cozy.
This video would be even better if you had hearing protection and eye protection. Norm Abram would be disappointed
What? Just kidding, you’re right 😬
Use a notepad app on your cell phone
Great idea. 😁
Those shelves in the bigger closet don't look that strong, I'd of put them full width
I think it’s supposed to be a walk-in pantry. Full shelves would block the walk-in space.
Thanks for the input, I really scratched my head on that closet. The shelves are really strong.

I wonder if your daughter were to marry and start a family if you and her would ever consider trading places in the house?
Why? That is a family matter, why would you ask that? We’ve actually joked about that, it’s a real possibility.
Put shiplap over the flat door and relocate the door pull. Also that last hand gesture. What that an OK! or a white supremacy sign?
Great idea, and definitely an okay gesture! 👌😁
