I don’t think I have daddy “issues,” I simply love watching dads be great dads and doing things for their daughters. Mine sucked, was in and mostly out, left before I was born… and dead now. So, my dad experience sucked. Watching dads though, makes me so happy that at least someone, many people, have been blessed. Great work dad. She really is so blessed. Congratulations 🎊🎈🎉
Not only an awesome series, but I really appreciate the natural commentary and sounds with no music. It’s very refreshing to see on TH-cam. Hope you can post longer videos lol👍
That is turning out so well. I am happy to see your daughter putting in the time and work along side of you. The color is perfect and all the different textures add to the beauty of this home for your daughter. We have had our daughter and her family live with us as well as our son and family at different times. As good as it was, it is nice for us and them to have our own space.
I wish I could help my daughters get into a home. One lives an hour away in an older apartment she and her fiance can just barely afford. One needs the independence because she was slow to mature and I appreciate how well she's taken to supporting herself and living on her own. I have thought of finishing our basement with a bedroom, small bathroom, smaller living and kitchenette for my youngest who lives close to us. I appreciate how and why you're altering your home to make a space for your daughter. Where I live, the cities are zoning for ADUs - alternative dwelling units - on one's property. We live in a big city and there are rules on what's allowed. We also have a tiny plot so an ADU isn't feasible. But I sure like seeing and drooling over expensive houses that have separate kitchen and living spaces!
I’m glad I’ve been able to help her, but I understand that different circumstances in other areas make it difficult. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!! 👍
Lucky Dad! to have a child want to live near by. LOL Truth is MINE haven't left either, for the same reason cost. Thankful they do work and help me out with utilities and yard.
Good Job dad, She is lucky to have you in her corner and Bonus she is close by so you don't have to worry so much :) I would love to have been able to have a homestead for my kids and grandkids :) Maybe one day :)
Love to see this, daughter very lucky to have a father look out for her and build a home for her to boot! Glad you painted the ugly red brick white goes excellent with the shiplap. Hopefully you’ll upload sooner than later lol can’t wait to see it 😂. Just subbed 🤩
I’m not in love with gray paint as a rule, but it does make a nice neutral background, depending on what you put in for highlight colors. A nice, bright color on the sofa, for instance, would really stand out against a gray background. Regardless of what any of us think out here in Internet Land, you are doing a wonderful job putting together a nice apartment for your daughter. She’s a lucky girl! 😊
so glad y’all picked a grey with warm undertones, so often people hate on “millennial grey” but I find it’s because most people use cool grey tones that are hard to coordinate around making spaces feel cozy and inviting
You and your daughter make an awesome team! The puppies are too cute for words! Agreeably Gray (Sherwin Williams ?) is perfect for your daughter’s addition. Looking forward to your next video for the kitchen install!
When you said "gray paint" for the fireplace room, I almost cried. Obviously, it's not my home but you did ask us to comment about the paint color. 👎🏽. I just can't stand gray-for me it is a very depressing color but if you and your daughter love it-that is all that matters! Also important is how you pay such great attention to details in everything you do regarding this build. And it shows in the finished product with every wall! Cannot wait to see MORE! Thank you so much for sharing-you're a born instructor.
"Greige". I have found a light cool tone grey that's actually pretty calming (Tinsmith by Sherman Williams), but tend to prefer committing to slightly desaturated colors, and always a shade darker than your initial thought. Raging Sea by Sherman Williams is one of my all-time faves.
I love the color choice. I am partial to the grey family of paint colors. I am going to paint one of my bedrooms Barnwood Grey (BEHR Paint) and the second one Shark Fin Grey (also BEHR). Grey colors fit most peoples decor right now. I love seeing the progress being made and can’t wait to see the finished project.
Love the little home you are building. Suggestion for the fire place. Think the white would look amazing and tie it in with the white brick in the entry. 😊
That is such an interesting and unusual space, I hope when it is all finished and you have moved in some basic furniture, I hope you will make a tour video. I am a bit confused what the rooms are for, but the process is very interested, and it is marvelous that you are doing this for your daughter! You are a very good father!
Love this videos could watch everyday, I agree too long between videos. Very easy to follow and good tips that can be used in your own projects. Luck daughter, having such a caring and talented dad.
Mick I love the color of the grey it does make the white pop your headwear looks funny but very practical...the grand puppies are just so cute as is miss callie😊
Hi Mick, the addition to the house looks beautiful. Wow!!! Not every dad does whst you have done for your daughter. I admire and am absolutely touched by it. Your daughter is very Blessed to have a dad so kind and thoughtful.
You always do such a good job. It's a pleasure to watch. It reminds me of working with my dad when I was young. Those skills have served me well. PS, I like the gray and it's easy to decorate with. Good dad!
WOW, what a great home you are building your daughter in your home. 💙 It's so interesting in the US that so many think that it's not "normal" for family to live in the same home or have a apartment within the parents house to look after each other. In other parts of the world it is "normal" for many generations to live in the same home such as in Asia, Africa & Europe etc so that everyone in the family is looked after. The grandparents looks after the grandkids & share knowledge while parents are working and the childern of the grandparents look after the elderly family members. It's quite beautiful when you think about this type of living environment. I think it's wonderful that many generations live in the same home. This is a more natural way for mammals & humans to live. In parts of Asia such as Indonesia even today families will own a small pieces of land and each child will have their own small home on the family land & will live with their spouse/kids and then there is one main kitchen & living area where the whole family spends time together. You are such a wonderful Dad to build your daughter a beautiful home within your home. Not only for her to save money but, also to protect her in this crazy crazy world all a while you both have your own independent. 💜
@Whatareyoudoingwithyourlife I agree. I always wanted some land, build a large room that would be kitchen/dinning and family room where everyone could be together. Then have either separate cabins or just private rooms branching off for everyone.
Thanks for sharing another great video 😊 I hope when your done with this project you continue with more content. I have a question, why didn’t you put the kitchen in the area when you first walk in the area where the washer is gonna go? You could do a stackable or a dual washer dryer and then have a kitchen too and the apartment would have the whole living room area and maybe a small dinette just curious 😊 thank you again for sharing be blessed ❤
This is looking awesome, Mick! Thanks for the recommendation for Frog tape. I have always used 3M with varying results. I will try this next time. 😊 The paint colors look great. Take care and God bless! 😊👍
Your attention to detail is a lost art! This apartment is going to be beautiful! Love the colors! Love the mix of woos and brick- watching from Lake Wales, Florida
Your attention to detail is very impressive; I've never known someone to sand in between wall paint coats. Yes, the brick wall looks better painted. I think the fireplace painted the same, would look good and tie them together. Suggestion - the window in the brick wall, would look good with stained glass and lighted from each side. The pipes above the storage closet - do you plan on enclosing it some how? Maybe a build box around it, would look better than bare pipes. Wish you were in my area, I have projects that could use your expertise.
I never knew there was such a thing as a sanding sponge, I'll have to get one of them I want to sand the inside of an old wooden bowl. Thanks good to know.
Such great work!!! You have the skills and ability to instruct the construction process !!! You would make a good person to train up the next generation in these skills for sure!!!😊😊🎉
With your kid there, some work is actually getting done instead of the usual goofing off (maybe she has been watching Mike Holmes or Bob Vila). Btw, I've used a little bit of fabric softener in a bucket of water when first starting the cleaning of the paint brushes and rollers. I hope you're not babysitting the grandpups because that would be like the blind leading the blind. My oh my, they sure are cute. Oh, check THIS out, some TH-camrs in Alaska have taken to cutting plywood into "shiplap" boards as a way to save on lumber costs. One guy & his wife did that, installed on the living room wall & painted. It shocked me because it looked real nice. Hmm, live & learn. Take care, pops! 😂✌️😹👋🐾🐾🌻🇱🇷
Yeah, that was nice to have her there doing all the work! I’m not sure where she learned that from. 😁. I’ll have to try the fabric softener trick, and you’re right they won’t let me puppy sit. I have seen ship lap done like that, I think it works great. Thanks for watching and keeping me in line.

Your daughter is lucky to have a great dad like you. The place is looking beautiful.
You are so kind

Glad you like them! I’m trying to get to the point where I can spend more time making/editing videos.
A little caulk, a little paint, makes the carpenter what he ain’t- from a journeyman painter 👍🏽
I just love that saying 😁. Thank for watching and commenting!
Amazing father-daughter teamwork going on right there!
Thank you 🙏
Is it just me or do these videos go way too quick then it feels like forever before the next one is posted??? 😂😂😂 it’s looking great!!!
Yes I look forward to them.
I was thinking the EXACT same thing!
Mick and videos are really therapeutic
The apartment is really coming along, and boy does it look sharp! Great dad, lucky daughter! Oh, and absolutely adorable pups!
Thanks so much!
What a WONDERFUL DAD and DAUGHTER VIDEO❤
She will need a Pound Party for her home.
Thanks, and that’s a great idea! 👍
I love the painted brick and the shiplap! The finish paint color agreeable gray is perfect!
Thanks so much! I think they go together nicely.

The puppies!!😍. Paint on the brick looks so much better!!
@8:47, I have a shade of grey in my stairway, but would not use it elsewhere. The painting tooks perfect, though. It's all coming along nicely.
You are not only helping your daughter, you are helping her to appreciate it, work hard! and learn from Dad! God bless you both 🎉❤!!
Thank you so much!
Thumbs up for an amazing father!☺

Great point! 👍
Looks like you guys did a lot of hard work for a good cause. 💪 Blessings to your family.
Much appreciated
Why does that sprayer sound like a horror movie? 😂
Love your work in spite of the demon sprayer.
It does a little bit 😂. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I'm channeling houseplants like potted ficus and one hanging fern near the corner plus a few on the deep window sills if not to hot and bright.😎

Ahh! Agreeable gray! The same gray in almost every townhouse in our community! And for good reason :)
Right?!
Love the little home you are building. Suggestion for the fire place. Think the white would look amazing and tie it in with the white brick in the entry. 😊
Check out what I did in the next video coming out soon, and let me know what you think. Thanks for the input! 👍
Just found y'all and I love this! These days with housing getting more unattainable every day thinking outside the box is necessary!

I wasn't sold on the ship lap until i saw the transition from the brick. Looks nice.
I think the brick would look better covered in ship lap. Continuity between areas and less busyness
Love this videos could watch everyday, I agree too long between videos. Very easy to follow and good tips that can be used in your own projects. Luck daughter, having such a caring and talented dad.
Oh my goodness this little suite is going to be just wonderful, hurry up I really wanna see what happens next😅
Moving along beautifully! Grand! That Agreeable Grey is popular isn't it, a warm grey. ❤ XXX
This is looking great. Glad this came up in my youtube recommended videos. Excited to see the next video!

great choice of gray paint Mick.
I too really like the wall color. It’s soft and warm, especially for a gray.
Thanks for your input. 👍
