Unbelievable! When you said your big table came from a Library, I had to wonder... Guess what? Your big oak "dining room table" came from the old library in my little town of Galesburg, Illinois!!! The construction for our new library started about the same time you started the work on your Schoolhouse. I'm so glad to hear the old library furniture is being repurposed.
@@Schoolhousehomestead A small world, indeed. The old library is 3 blocks east of me, and the new library is across the street. I don't know if I ever sat at your big table, but I'm pretty sure I sat at one of the smaller oak tables shown in your video. Pretty cool!
@@traciwilliams5673 money also helps. It was an incredible amount of work. Just the materials alone cost a fortune. I worked in construction for a while and prices of everything have gone up so much.

@Heidi51616 Loved your comment in calling the school “her”. And yes, she needed to be saved. Several years ago, I cashed in some childhood bonds to give a friend that bought a hundred +plus years old church that a small town was going to tear down. I just wanted to “save” it. The stained glass windows are fabulous. I wish had more funds to help my friend because the bell tower is leaking pretty bad. But I figured I extended her life a few more decades. I went to a grade school like that in Milton Wisconsin. I was a preteen and I'm 82 now. Those buildings were so unique and embracing to a child, warm and comfortable. I just found you guys this channel. It is remarkable what you did with a old schoolhouse that could easily fell through or broke away or just been bad and you turn it into a house that’s remarkable.
I love that you didn’t just decorate everything in a sterile whitewash, go-with-everything gray or boring beige. The rich, darker colors look so warm and charming and really bring the homey feeling 😁😁😁
That extra large table is just the most fantastic thing ever!!! I just love it. Love the little or not so little local shops that are repurposing or reusing old stuff. the great solid proper old stuff.
So beautiful. Love this school house and all the hard work has definitely paid off. You have saved a wonderful building and provided a beautiful home for your family. Congratulations 🎉
You have created a mesmerising, delightful abode. I applaud you for having recycled and repurposed so many items. Bravo! You get stellar marks from a retired teacher... in the Netherlands!
I am stunned that you've been able to pull it all together and make a truly fabulous home. I saw a much earlier video that couldn't have been long after you bought the school and remember thinking..."There's just no way those 2 are going to turn that old schoolhouse into a safe living environment...in their lifetime." I stand corrected, you were more than up to the task and it's really breathtaking what you've accomplished there. It's a 1-in-a-million, no billion, home. A huge congratulations to you and your husband...and those hard working folks that helped, for doing the impossible (at least to me).
It's always a great feeling to see my fellow Indiana Hoosiers going around and refurbished history that will last for many years in the future. Looks Great 👍🏼
Congratulations! We live in an old, old house, built in 1870's and we have lots to do to make it more livable but, if walls could talk!!!!!..........our neighbor's sister was born upstairs here, just an example of stories that originated here....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The. Table!! You’re right, quarter sawn oak would be a fortune to have made. What a great find! And your pup is adorable. I’m so glad to see you moving through this transition into a more settled place. Renovation is a long slog, but you all have really made a special place there. Now you need a short school bus outfitted as an RV for when you travel! LOL! PS, love that you made the fizzy water thing work without those annoying replacement bottles. Might have to try that. Keep up the good work, love the front entrance porch. Want to store some of our cars in your airplane hanger garage? LOL! Remember that large spaces can make you feel isolated and disconnected, so remember to intentionally create some small cozy places where you can reconnect with yourself and each other. So glad to see you making so much amazing progress! 💕
Congrats on moving day! My mom is visiting from the US and I’ve been showing her your videos. She thinks you are very brave and loves what you have done. Much love from Gensac!, France ❤
What a dream house this is. So much work, but a true work of love that will serve your family for generations to come. I am especially touched by how much meaning you put into each object you choose. I felt chills when that table was delivered. Oh, the history. Thank you for giving it a new life.
Paused the video to say John Dillinger robbed the bank that used to be in my town of New Carlisle, Ohio. His pictures and blown up article are on the wall in there. The building is now called Abe’s Hidden Treasures. I love that store!
yeah it's a really great filter, I had no idea how much we would love it. I grew up with really sulfury well water so this water is quite the dream haha
Honest question: How long does it take to routine clean this house? If you clean floors, bathrooms and kitchen weekly, vacuum daily, do the washing for everyone, clean the kitchen sink and countertop daily and count things like dusting and simply sweeping the outside this looks like a full time job for me.

I totally understand your feelings about moving so much. My wife and I have done it 7 times since we were married. It gets old after awhile. Words just can't describe how gorgeous your schoolhouse home looks after all the hard work put into restoring it.
Your home is beautiful, and my wife and I are jealous! I've been watching your vids for awhile, and was wondering, if you are comfortable with it, could you do a breakdown of total costs? We would like to do something like this, but afraid of the price. Thanks, and looking forward to the next update.
Your home is so beautiful! The wooden floors, I adore them! I grew up in Petersburg, Virginia and now live in unincorporated Lakeland, Polk County, Florida in another 1940s house, which is one level instead of three levels. My childhood home that was built in the 1940s had old mill house floors that had rounded wooden pegs. Every five years Daddy rented a floor sander that he used to strip the wax and the stain. All the floors of the house were done over a two month period, April and May. The stair cases both sets along with the banister’s and spindles were sanded down by hand and refinished polished to a high shine. We children knew it was as we called it ‘Floor’s and Steps Time’ we even made up a dance that our parents loved! After all floors were done my Mom would turn chairs, sofa’s end tables, dressers and makeup dressing tables with narrow padded chairs, wooden bed frames that we had to unscrew the four post and wooden slatted canopies , basically every and all antique furniture in the house! She would take off all the existing ‘scoot’ pads. She made her own ‘scoot’ pads from Cotten Batting and old flannel shirts and flannel night gowns. Mom would cut circles of flannel and circles of Cotten batting then sew them together leaving petted edges. She would use an old fashioned furniture tack by hot gluing the tack in the center of the batting then folding the palettes inward and over the tack pushing the sharp tack needle thru the material and adding a few drops of hot glue to complete the connection. To instal the ‘scoot’ pads she would place the tack needle in the center of the legs and tap into place with a small furniture hammer! By doing this it insured the floors did not get scratches and or gouges! It would take a year of making these before the install. Trust me my Mom knew about antique and how to take care and restore them! She and Daddy loved antiques and would take me to Estate sales to buy special items and furniture. In doing this I became knowledgeable in antiques. It came in handy when my brother and I broke my Mom’s one hundred year marble topped cherry wood coffee table! My brother was the one who landed on top of it by jumping off the horse haired sofa to try and jumping over the coffee table, to say the least his effort was short of clearing it. After landing on it he looked at me and asked me if I knew how to fix the marble and the split into frame! Of course I did and went to the basement to get the marble glue and sealant and the wood glue along with fine grade sandpaper. One hour latter the coffee table looked good as new! I told my Daddy and he said ok and would be kept from Mom. Mom did not know until after I got married! Yah some things eventually have to be told. Mom laughed and said me and brother won’t the first to break and repair the coffee table and owned up she had tried to pick it up to move it. Instead of moving it she dropped it breaking the marble and frame! I m looking forward to more of your video’s! 😊
The house looks beautiful!! I love everything you did and was amazed by some of the things you incorporated into the decorating that showed off the original school. Wow! Enjoy your gorgeous house new home!❤❤❤
This was so exciting to see! Congratulations on the move. The dining table is gorgeous. That roof deck will be a great place for the kids to play outside and not get muddy.
This is amazing. You resorted it and made it better and just as Original as it was the day it opened. So amazed at your design. You probably have a lot of people who went to that school that want to see it.
These updates don't arrive fast enough. I LOVE all the work completed. You must be so happy!!! And I LOVE the new fridge. I'm going to have to look into that water filter. I also LOVE the table and the John Dillinger story. How cool is that? I especially love the width of the table which makes it convenient for centerpieces and flowers. It completes your kitchen, which is my favorite room of any home. I just wish I had the room like you to put a bookshelf for all my cookbooks and cocktail books. I purchased a small pebble ice maker as we're into the Tiki cocktail thing. I have an almost identical area rug that you have under your sofa in the living room. The shower holders are amazing. The bathroom tile colors are so beautiful. What a great job on the roof deck. I remember all the warm rainy days I experienced in Indianapolis, and how wonderful it would be to sit up there during one. I envy your garage. It seems we never have enough room for things in ours. I dream of a workshop but that would require a bigger house, and in California, even slightly bigger can send you into the millions. I'd rather retire comfortably. Your pup is so cute. I have two cats. They obviously can not break dance. They just lay around all day. Congratulations on how beautifully it's coming along. Can't wait for the next update.

I love how your son dressed himself, who needs separate legs!
lol he cracked me up so much!
my kids do this sometimes we call it mermaiding
Adorable 👍😁👏

Ypu should make him a Kilt! MEN in Scotland wear kilts!
Your dining table is an precious gem! I'm drooling, what a perfect find.
Beautiful home and lovely way to preserve the history of this school. Can’t wait for videos of snow, parties, all the things. Enjoy!!
Congratulations. Im excited for you! 😊
I love that you didn’t just decorate everything in a sterile whitewash, go-with-everything gray or boring beige. The rich, darker colors look so warm and charming and really bring the homey feeling 😁😁😁
I’m astonished they would use such dark and depressing colors.
Absolutely beautiful. I can’t be the only one wanting an invite to a rooftop party.
I’m so glad y’all bought the school house . You’ve done a fantastic job turning it into a home. 😊❤
I brings tears to my eyes to watch your dream come to life!! Can't wait to see the whole deal done!!
I can't get over that Knockstone Brick color. It's so beautiful. I love maroon colors and this one is awesome. Pimmpup is gorgeous.
It's always a great feeling to see my fellow Indiana Hoosiers going around and refurbished history that will last for many years in the future. Looks Great 👍🏼
Congratulations! We live in an old, old house, built in 1870's and we have lots to do to make it more livable but, if walls could talk!!!!!..........our neighbor's sister was born upstairs here, just an example of stories that originated here....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Stumbled across your channel. 🎉 I’m a Muncie native, a Widower of our 40 years together 😢 I moved here to SunCityWest , a 55+ Community 4 years ago. Love Arizona, don’t miss the Winter’s one bit but we’re in a seemingly never ending Heat wave of 110’s+ 🥵
Best wishes for your new Life
Good to see Franklin represent :) My brother teaches there. The schoolhouse looks amazing. Congratulations.
The whole house music is just the best. I have ceiling speakers installed across all rooms in my house with independent controls for each room. Worth it a million times over!
What a lot of work, I'm impressed by your tenacity and determination. 3 years isn't long at all considering everything you've accomplished.
At 10:58min I've probably sat at that table through out the years of my life. I live 16mi south of where that table came from.
The. 💕
This is probably the most impressive and unique TH-cam channel journey I have ever watched. Thanks for sharing.
The bathroom is GORGEOUS !!! It’s like a 80s aesthetic!
I'm so glad to hear your R/O remineralizes the water. When I heard you were going to use it for drinking water, I was like "no, no, no." But phew.
yeah it's a really great filter, I had no idea how much we would love it. I grew up with really sulfury well water so this water is quite the dream haha
Absolutely outstanding Renovation and conversion! Congratulations! Maybyou be blessed for many years in your fabulous home!!
Honest question: How long does it take to routine clean this house?
If you clean floors, bathrooms and kitchen weekly, vacuum daily, do the washing for everyone, clean the kitchen sink and countertop daily and count things like dusting and simply sweeping the outside this looks like a full time job for me.
Well you don’t vacuum every day, you buy a robot vacuum that does that. Then you find other ways to save time cleaning
Who vacuums daily?
@@terrisherwoodbruner9386 my robot vacuum does because I have 3 dogs and that’s the only way to keep the floor clean of dog hair
@@terrisherwoodbruner9386 Pet owners, people with toddlers
@@terrisherwoodbruner9386I do…. Between kids and ants yeah- I have a cordless vacuum and it helps. I’ve had roombas and wasn’t a fan
You are absolutely right about the dog making it feel like home. Congratulations on moving in. Beautiful home, beautiful family.
Love your home. I'm very lucky ,we don't have to filter water. I live in Scotland and the water from the tap is delicious ❤
Congratulation, when I hear you said we are moving in today.I just burst into tear for you and your husband because I know it was not an easy project.I do not know you but I follow.God has seen you through this and many more. The best of health and many more beautiful day in this home school.Sending good vibes from New Jersey
Congratulations!! Fabulous accomplishment!
Don’t be jealous, be inspired.
So excited to see you have posted a new video! I was wondering what was happening in your school house. Very happy that you are home! Love it!
So many of my fave things in one video: repurposing, building, planning, corn fields, a dog, and Indiana-my home state.
Cheers from Australia
Thannk you for sharing, your home is amazingly beautiful, and I love your table and chairs.📚
I LOVE the repurposed kitchen table and chairs idea!!! Can't get enough of this brilliant idea!!
Can you imagine playing hide and seek in there?
Talk about, "LIVIN' THE DREAM."
Y'ALL ARE LIVIN' IT.
GOD BLESS YOU and YOUR FAMILY and YOUR AWESOME HOME.
Love watching this project. You and your family are adorable. I always wanted to live in an old bank. If we get the opportunity, you have inspired us to video the project timeline as well. Cheers!
THIS IS CRAZY!!! I am from Galesburg Illinois, they recently built a brand new library. It is amazing to see that the old furniture that holds so may memories is going to a place that will continue to appreciate it!!! Thank you for everything you do and keep up the amazing work!!!
Galesburg Illinois actually has a lot of really interesting history! You should check it out if you are into that kind of thing.
A couple folks from Galesburg have commented!! Small world and really thankful for this table.
Congrats! So happy for your little family! ❤
You got one our old libraries tables! Many of my homework and reports for school were researched on that table. It looks great in your kitchen. Congrats on getting moved in. The school house conversion is impressive! You all have done a great job on it. Admittedly when you first started posting videos of the transformation I was a little skeptical how such a large building could be made into a very home-y family space. You did it. Very cool.
I'm so happy for you!
Congratulations!
WOW : ) Questions, Incredible VISION, Hard work, Success, Cudos from a teacher of 42 years. God Bless .
Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you're back into doing videos! People seem to go to TikTok for their short content but myself, and your other many subscribers LOVE THIS KIND OF CONTENT!
