Thanks for this helpful video Doc! Could you please tell me how many reps for each exercise? My país began a few days ago and not sure why. Perhaps a combination of too much driving and too little physical activity?
I bruised my tailbone after falling down the stairs . It looks like it shifted to the left since there’s more pain there. It’s really excruciating and I’ve been crying for hours. The closest pelvic floor physical therapy is an hour away and it’s hard getting there. Thank you for your video I hope you can do more of these videos to ease our pains and hopefully heal ☹️
I also had accident at work 11 yrs ago at work, I prayed for death, the pain was excruciating. I went thru therapy, thru lots of meds & thru injections tt provided temporary relief. For me the ONLY thing tt gave me relief was 5mg of Zolpidem, and gentle walking. Your body must begin to move or arthritis sets in. To this day I cannot stay sitting down for long, when I travel, I have to use Tramadol for pain, I have to walk to alleviate pain. I will incorporate these exercises into my routine & write back in one month.
So happy to find this! Been suffering from what I thought to be low-very low back pain at the start of every single road bike season like clock-work. Tried the tennis ball tip, and well... at first tears came to my eyes, and then - the pain melted away. Thank you for sharing this, I had no idea the tailbone could be causing me this grief!!!
Yes. I've had tailbone pain for about 3-4 months now. I have bulging discs in my low back, I had a discetomy after rupture L5 S1 about 20yrs ago, I have sciatica, I have what I believe is piriformis/butt pain as well and now my tailbone! I sit for way too many hours for work 10hrs days typically and twice a week a 2 hour drive to my second office. I saw my ortho and his only recommendation was coccyx pillow... there's got to be something more I can do.
Last year I fell backward onto left sit bone. Caused upslip of ilium that was undiagnosed for 4 months. Also sacral torsion. Odd thing was that as those areas got realigned thru PT, my tailbone became painful. Now I think I know why. There was a lot of emphasis on kegal exercises during all my other strengthening exercises. Just doing your exercises once with you, I feel improved!
Yes!!! Thank you so much for this video all of a sudden I’ve been experiencing pain in my tailbone and I have all the symptoms you described I cannot wait to try these exercises thank you so much for your love and attention and help
I'm so glad I found your channel! I have been experiencing tailbone pain for about two months now. I'm a fairly active person and it's not restricting me too much, but I definitely have to hang my tailbone off the end of my exercise mat when stretching, and sitting on soft surfaces makes it hurt as well. A few things that might be helpful to know: 1) From January 2016, I've lost about 85 lbs. I definitely started to feel the presence of my tailbone more as my weight dropped, but sitting on soft surfaces was never an issue until recently. 2) I've been working from home since the quarantine, and until about a month ago I was sitting on a metal folding chair with no padding. (I now have an office chair, but I sit on a rolled-up towel. I sit at a computer for the entire workday.) 3) I have a history of scoliosis. It was treated when I was a teenager, and it hasn't seemed to cause any problems in my adult life. 4) I do not recall any one event where I injured my tailbone. I definitely haven't fallen on it. Thanks so much for reading this, and for your videos! I'm definitely going to incorporate these exercises into my routine.
I too have lost weight and that is when my tail bone started hurting. My injury was from 25+ years ago falling on cement stairs I think. First time I’ve been irritated by it since then.
Thank you for your very informative video. Your explanations are clear and practical. I will certainly be trying to do these exercises for my coccyx pain
Yes, severe pain in tailbone as of March 2021. I fell on my tailbone in May 2020. Xray showed it wasn't broken. I used ice and stayed off of it until it healed about a month later. Unfortunately, the pain came back at the beginning of march 2021 and has bothered me daily since then. I hit the tailbone directly on the concrete while rollerblading. It was excruciatingly painful.
my 15 yo daughter is a competitive gymnast and has had tailbone pain for about 4 weeks. There was no obvious trauma to elicit the pain but she had spent some significant time sitting rather hunched over on a hard cement surface for several days in a row prior to the onset of pain. She has restricted her training which is not in alignment with preparing for the coming season. CT and plain films showed no bony abnormalities. I will have her try these techniques to alleviate the pain which is likely caused by soft tissue strain.. Hopefully she will be able to return to full training with minimal pain. I will let you know if these help. Thank you for this very informative video.
Thank you Dr. Amruta for this informative video for relief of my tailbone pain. I'm suffering a lot of this pain since last 3 months 😢... taking analgesics .. and now fade-up of those. Pelvic rehab PT sounds great to work for me.
Hey Amrutha, I hv pelvic pain at left side. I know the cause - for about a month i actually sat on floor one sided (left) and kept my laptop on mattress to carry out my office work. Now I hv developed Pelvic pain left side. I have watched the 5 techniques which u showed in ur video and I am gonna implement them from today. Let's see. Will keep u updated.. Thank you in advance.
I am having lower back and tail bone pain post delivery, even tough it was C- section. And i have job which requires longer sitting hours. Did your excercise today and will definitely keep doing it
I've had tailbone pain for 8 months or so. I did not have a fall, om not incontinent, I'm very active and in good health at 66 years old. I've seen my doctor, chiropractor and PT. it's gotten somewhat better but still persists.
Thank you so much!..so glad I came across your channel..I'm having severe pain in my tailbone...I recently started taking Zumba class with a lot of jumping and that's when I started having pain ..probably because I haven't worked out in a long time...Your techniques are excellent! ❤
I SAW A CHIROPRACTOR AND HE SAID MY TAILBONE WAS LEANING TO THE RIGHT.SO HE POUNDED IT BACK AND THEN SEVERAL MONTHS LATER I WAS SENT TO GET X-RAYS AND IT'S FRACTURED..
Yes, I thought I had a bruised tailbone because I just starting working a new job where I spend a lot of time sitting on a chair that is only big enough for a toddler. Without saying more that this, I believe now, after watching your video that my pain IS indeed an over use injury and that my pelvic floor and surrounding muscles are just completely balled up. I spent an hour doing these stretches the moment I saw you do them before going to bed last night. After doing the exercises I went and sat on a wooden chair, something I haven't been able to do for weeks without a foam coccyx pillow. I was skeptical when I could sense my coccyx but the deep pointed pain on my coccyx wasn't really there. I tried to shift to reproduce it and all I felt was the consciousness of my pelvic floor and the sense of aching and soreness from all the places I had just stretched. I awoke and did the stretches again. Every one of the muscle groups you showed to stretch were very tight and every time I finished one I would return to a neutral position on my bed in a state of relaxation I can only describe as what I feel after an orgasm (pardon me for using this as an example, but I don't know how else to describe it). I was convinced that because of the small chair I have been sitting on at work that I was developing a pressure ulcer or something, or the one piece work suit that I am required to wear was putting pressure on my coccyx because of the seam running down the middle of my back. I really hope this was the problem. Can you recommend icing or heating the area as well, if I would do that before or after stretching, and how often I should stretch and how long I can expect to feel this until it gets resolved? Thanks for your excellent video and for sharing your experience with us. Cheers.
My tailbone shifted anterior and cannot sit for long time without coccyx cushion. Even with cushion I have to take frequent breaks. How can I reach out to u for a personal consultation. Thanks in advance mam 🙏
I fell and landed on my tailbone. I have been in such pain and otc pain meds do not help. I tried your techniques and have gotten some relief. Although the tennis ball one really really hurt, it did help me. I will continue to do these daily until I get back to no pain, if that is possible. Thank you.
I can definitely say yes I'm having this problem! When I was younger I fell from the monkey bars flat on my bottom but now that I'm older I could really feel it! Also took a fall in the snow and had a baby which are also can result in tailbone pain. I work from home 12 hours a day. I try to take constant breaks but The pain is not going away 😭😭😭
I really liked your techniques. But my question to you is there any permanent treatment for this other than exercise. Please let me know. Because I am really frustrated with this pain. Kindly reply me.
I fell on my fell home onto cement 3 times from 2015 thru 2018. In 2019,made I fell flat onto my my back onto my back wooden deck. Like wrestler picks his opponent up then body slams him onto the mat on his back. Very excruciating!!! I could NOT move for 2 hours. My muscles were in shock. I paid on my deck for two hours with no help except kittens crawling all over me! After two hours my muscles very slowly began to release. About another hour I was able to crawl inside my house. I've also pAssed out several times last year from severe pain in my back.
Yes immense tailbone pain and sacroiliac joint dysfunction I'm hypermobile in both si joints after a twisting injury then a few months later became hypermobile in my tailbone after a couple of falls landing flat on my butt. I also have ehler danlos syndrome which is a connective tissue joint disorder affecting joints, gi track, heart and other organs. I've been suffering from si joints, sacrum and tailbone pain now for almost 3 years and seen physios once a fortnight doing daily exercises and never got better. It's so painful to ride in cars because of the bumpy road It flares up from si joints, sacrum and tailbone hours and hours after I go in the car I literally have to put my hands on either side of the seat and lift my butt off the seat putting the weight on my arms just to avoid immense impact from bumps in the road otherwise I can be in a bad flare for days, I also can not walk upstairs or hills without immense pains in si joints, sacrum and tailbone again lasting for hours sometimes days after, and sex is a no always flares up my those areas for a week after sex. Even just sitting on a train where theres vibrations of the train shakes my si joints and tailbone causing immense pain. I have seen many physios over the 3 years still doing my daily strengthening and exercises and I never got better I only got worse overtime. I've had a steroid injection into si joints that helped a bit but only lasted 3 months next to get a tailbone steroid. After that is the nerve burns and then to see an orthropedic and get surgery hopefully as my life is over at only 31.
I have Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I have SI Joint instability, pelvic prolapse and history of right hip dislocations. I'm in long term PT but tonight I've been hurting so much I couldn't remember the exercises I needed to do to help with the pain. Thank you.
6 months after my c-sec, I'm not able sit by putting balanced pressure on both hips.. it's been 2 years now.. I have long sitting hours.. due to somehow sitting in a tilted manner, I have developed peripheral neuropathy.. I feel quite handicapped.. going to try all the mentioned exercises.. also, a compliment for you.. you are so lovable❤️
Yes. My tailbone hurts very much. However, the doctor did not give me an accurate script for pelvic floor treatment. He wrote it for hip pain. Now i have to wait til Tues to straighten this out and get an appt. for the correct p.t.
My pelvic floor physiotherapist gave up on my case because I did not respond to her treatments properly. She sent me to a gynocologist, but the gynocologist had no answers either. I feel very alone, and the pain is excruciating, and I get painful intercourse, too. I'm really hoping that your videos will help me!
I used a racketball ball and it was really painful on on side, but it subsided after breathing. Hope my pain goes away…I’ll add the folded towel to my office chair to see if that works! Thanks for the video!
I had a l4l5s1 fusion surgery. Since I have been having bad coccyx pain. I love your video it helps me. The ball pressure especially. It's still sore. Any help is appreciated.
Yes. I've been having pain for a little over a month now when I sit for a long time but it goes away when I walk or even at night when I sleep . but I don't know if it is my tailbone it self because when I put my finger down there and push in on my tailbone itself it don't actually hurt.. it's actually like on each side of my tailbone especially on the right side of my tailbone when I push in on it that radiates up my tailbone.. I have been a truck driver for over 20 years now and this is the first time I've developed this pain and I tried to stop and stretch and walk as much as I can but it's now also making my lower back muscle really stiff and sore can I tried everything in the world so far and even a tailbone pillow doesn't seem to help much . Now I have to sit for many hours at a time while driving to make any money and it's getting where I can drive less and less hours at a time now and if it gets any worse I will definitely have to give up this career if it gets any worse.
Thanks madam for the good info with beautiful explanation in a scientific manner. Already started few exercises. I had stopped my yoga practice, need to start the same.
I too slipped in the bathroom n have tailbone pain.was doing regularly my yoga for past 100 days after my retirement n was enjoying.after the xray came to know there is no fracture but Dr advised me to go for physiotherapy n will start from next week.hope I become normal again n start practicing my yoga. How much time it takes to heal if there is no fracture in tail bone.
Yes. My tailbone hurts all the time, constantly, I fell when filler skating and have also had a c-section. But I practice some yoga regularly and it doesn’t help my lower back at all
I got in a car accident last 2 week I got minor injury whiplash n my knees scrapes, all are healing but I have a pain in my tail bone when I sit or lean back way when sitting realy bad pain
My Osteopathic doctor calls it an unstable sacrum but the adjustment, doesn't seem to last. He has given me exercises, pulling knees towards me while laying on my back while i push my knees away with my hands. Also, using leg muscles to push bent legs together as I try to push away with hands and then just the opposite, I pull bent legs apart as I push together with hands
Hi, I don't know if this is just coincidental but iv osteoarthritis in both hips and since I got some new sketchers shows I'm pain free. I do a physical job and I'm on my feet all day long and it's so nice to be pain free
Yes!Si joint dysfunction and what seems to be tailbone dysfunction or dislocation! Left sided! Fell on tail bone at 19 I’m now 31! Had l5-S1 Alif 19 months ago!
I broke my tailbone again. I was 13 the first time at my family's ranch house. I just broke it again at my brother's house I fell down stairs. I live in the country in South Texas. So thank you for this information🦋💚😩🙏🌻*;0) I am 56 now*;0)
Yes. My tailbone is painful caused by a bad fall where i landed on my back, butt first. I fell almost one month ago, but i still fell discomfort until now.
Excruciating nerve pain in tailbone inflammation up to lower back unable to sit or stand upright or move from sitting to standing needing to use the back of chairs to shuffle sideways to move at all.
Sorry I’m 3 years late. I got tailbone pain and have problems getting up Once I’m up I’m fine. But every time I try to sit down theirs excruciating pain. Or if I’m laying down in bed and I try switching positions the pain comes in or if I lay on my back the pain comes in as well.
I had two falls now going through premenopause I have pain there in my tailbone before I didn't. I have denegrative lumbar 1 and 5 causing esciatic problem. Your video was helpful. What else do I do doctor said get MRI done.
I’m not sure if you are still monitoring the comments - my tailbone has been bothering me increasingly in the last few weeks, and when exercising yesterday I strained it and have a lot of pain in flexion or extension. I am five months postpartum, but had a regular vaginal birth. Baby was OP, but didn’t have tailbone pain until this past month.

I have Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I have SI Joint instability, pelvic prolapse and history of right hip dislocations. I'm in long term PT but tonight I've been hurting so much I couldn't remember the exercises I needed to do to help with the pain. Thank you.
I am the same. The si joint instability is so frustrating.

I fell off a porch on the ice and rebroke my tailbone. It’s been 17yrs since then and here I am living with it again. What can I do
I am so sorry! I'm coming up with a tailbone course to further elaborate on this topic. I'll keep you posted!
Yes. My tailbone hurts very much. However, the doctor did not give me an accurate script for pelvic floor treatment. He wrote it for hip pain. Now i have to wait til Tues to straighten this out and get an appt. for the correct p.t.
Thank you for this, Doc. My tailbone really hurts now.
Happy to help!
It hurts or it's better?
Thanks a lot doc.. am gonna start doing this techniques. Please make a video for l4 l5 pain
I have made a video on your query you can try those. Hope it helps you. Take care 👍
You explain very well, thank you!.
Now I have to sit for many hours at a time while driving to make any money and it's getting where I can drive less and less hours at a time now and if it gets any worse I will definitely have to give up this career if it gets any worse.
saw the video, doc. will try and give by feedback... certainly does seem effective,
Nicely narrated, thanks

May you can try look tone and tighten there is also lots video’s you can search of them
You are really helpful. Tks
How many of each should be done? Thxx🌺
yes, twisted to left tailbone left side muscle spasm and low back pain.
I got in a car accident last 2 week I got minor injury whiplash n my knees scrapes, all are healing but I have a pain in my tail bone when I sit or lean back way when sitting realy bad pain
You should use a doughnut pillow for few days to all the healing and once it's pain-free , please sit with the erect posture. Take care 👍
Thank you showing that you care.
Good afternoon. Great job.
Thank you so much for sharing Doc

Yes. I have been having bad tailbone pain for the last year. No injuries to the tailbone but have had 4 vaginal deliveries.
