I’m bilingual Japanese. His Japanese pronunciation is nearly perfect. If I only heard the audio I wouldn’t doubt it if you told me it was a Japanese singer. A slight tell at the end, where I notice he uses a R sound instead of a L sound in the word “hitori“, but that’s me looking for something to nitpick. Very impressive.
Great respect to Mr. Hilscher for perfecting his singing of this world famous, classic Japanese song. It is so well loved that he was obviously under a massive spotlight for singing in Japanese. Well done and thank you.
Glenn Millers' Orchestra has always been my favorite Orchestra eversince I was a Kid. Excellente Concerto Performance, & great Japanese pronounciation by the singer.
Wonder if any one ever sing this song now day ! It would be wonderful if any singer would bring back this song ..may be tour Gold Coast Queensland Australia 😎 🙋 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌏 I definitely go and watch the show ..even if it at the hotel restaurant. ...

I was actually anticipating him doing the whistling part more than singing the song in actual Japanese. But oh well, it was a still a good cover piece nonetheless. 👍
I'm not sure I understand your comment/question. This is from June 9, 2017, the Glenn Miller Festival in Clarinda, Iowa. The band is the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra (all of this was explained in the video description). So, what exactly is your question?
On June 9, 2017, The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra performed at the 42nd Annual Glenn Miller Festival in Clarinda, Iowa. Not a Miller tune, the song Sukiyaki was made famous in Japan in 1961, and reached the top of the "Billboard Hot 100 charts in the United States in 1963. Originally made famous by Kyu Sakamoto, Nick Hilscher puts on a fabulous performance with this song done in the Glenn Miller style.
Glenn died on December 15, 1944, however his band members did not. You need to read Dennis Spragg's book "Glenn Miller Declassified" if you want the real truth. I'm not sure why you have this comment on this particular song. What exactly is "not possible"?????
発音もさることながら原曲に忠実で余計なアレンジを加えない様に注意を払ってるところにこの曲に対する敬意を感じられます。凄く感じがいいそしてチャーミング、なんといっても紳士的でとっても素敵です
I love him
I'm half Japanese and a huge jazz fan and I've got to say that I'm impressed by his pronunciation and rendition! Bravo, sir! 👏
Well yes, but the could have made an effort to say Ue o Muite Arukō in the title. It is not that hard.
Nick does a fantastic job with the band! The Japanese girls from Tamana High School were in the audience. They absolutely loved it!
I've heard many different English translations of this song what is he actually saying
Im American and I must say, you type English nicely.
@@Ricobaca, I am, too! Born, raised and live in California.
I was surprised to hear him sing the song in Japanese. What a great way to honor Kyu Sakamoto.

Actually a very beautiful song and no one will ever sing it as pure as sukiyaki ❤🇬🇧😎
Must be glen miller son so very handsome
Pronunciation is perfect !
This performance only reinforces Kyu Sakamoto's unique and irreplaceable voice.
I love this song. The music 🎶 is just beautiful. It really reaches the heart.
Si Zentner's band had a great arrangement of this tune from the 60's
❤❤
They covered this because they knew the Tamana Girls would be in the audience, didn't they? That'd be a class act if they did.
Yes, I believe they did!
Who is this singer? He is great!!
The singer is Nick Hilscher who leads the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
凄い…。
👏✨👏✨👏✨👏✨👏
Sugoi ne!
So glad he sang it in Japanese!!!..
すごく歌も日本語も上手いのになぜかやっぱり日本の哀愁はでませんね 仕方ないけど
You guys should definitely check the cover by tetseo sisters from india

Good but Kyu Sakamoto Immortalized that song and without the whistling it just not close to being the same. But good job!

His Japanese?!?!😳😳😳
Not possible. Glenn Miller died December 1944 along with his band members. They disappeared and were never found.
