I cannot say why or really understand it but this song always brings me to tears. I am a ex-sailor who has spent a lifetime on ships and oil rigs, a biker and ex-rugby player so am used to toughness but "Sukiyaki" is so moving.
JOHN DENVER, YOU LEFT TOO EARLY...YOU TOUCHED COUNTLESS LIVES WHILE ON THIS EARTH AND CONTINUE TO DO SO. WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS~~IN OUR HEARTS TO STAY. OH HOW YOU WORKED TO PROMOTE PEACE AMONG ALL PEOPLE. WE NEED YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER! I LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU IN HEAVEN~~REFLECTIONS OF YOU ARE SO SWEET AND SURREAL. THANKS TO YOUR HEART, SOUL AND SPIRIT OF LIFE AND THE HUMANS AND ANIMALS THAT INHABIT THIS WORLD OF OURS. MAY YOU FIND PEACE WITH JESUS~~BEV, U.S.A.~~VIRGINIA
John Denver just a natural voice with no effort singing, a sad miss on this little blue planet where all of us humans live, if only this planet could live in peace.
Hey Rose , I'm , Michael from America - I grew up on John Denver too , I love his music , and it's really nice to see that you do too - good on ya , love !
Sukiyaki is the song that's my love one who have asked me do you know this song I'm said yes i know Today she has been passed away by Tsunami My ❤️❤️ Yumi Onodera ❤️❤️ even today U still heart You were always in my mind From someone in Thailand
I saw John Denver on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson way way back!! After he finished singing on stage and sat down next to Johnny Carson to be interviewed, Carson asked Denver to sing a song from his seat, as he had his acoustic guitar alongside him. Well,,, I was shocked,,,,, he sang with such power, and clarity of voice, and his vibrato was STUNNING~!~!~!~ When he finished the song, the entire audience simply burst into applause, and so did I as well~!~!~!~ Just as when Buddy Holly died, the music died with the tragic plane crash that took John Denver from our lives, all across the world ..... literally~!~ RIP J.D. ~!~
This just goes to show that Music is the Universal Language , and that there are Good People in Every group ; it's so Beautiful to see how much these nice Japanese People are Truly enjoying John Denver's distinctly American , "Country Roads"
Watching old videos of John Denver always makes me remember that I spend way too much time with a phone in my face. I really need to get out and enjoy nature again.
The beauty of SUKIYAKI is, you don't have to understand or know the words, to enjoy the song. The music stands on its own,, as a masterpirce of modern music composition
So great music and the Japanese audience braving the rain with no problem! RIP John Denver and Kyu Sakamoto and thank you for your music that is timeless!
I was hoping to hear Sheena Eastman sing the woman's harmonies of Country Roads that you hear in the background on the record. Love that soft beautiful girl's harmonies!
I love John Denver music v.much.All of them! Thank you v much for sharing this. I wish you/All well, healthy 🙂Have a nice day. Stay healthy. Merry Christmas everyone. Dec 2021
What he said is true. 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' has to be in every karaoke machine in the world; which means the entire world knows the song...and being from West Virginia, it makes me smile. I miss John Denver. His philosophies and lessons about the earth and all living things seems to have been forgotten. That's sad.
Sheena Easton looked so pretty, kinda looked like Sarah Brightman. Thank you for posting. We love you and miss you so much Kyu Sakamoto and John Denver. RIP
if u know the sad quaint moving tale of Japanese singer Kyu Sakamoto, renown for Sukiyaki song (of course the title is different in Jp) perishing in an aviation accident.... then you probably feel as I do how strange and moving it is that John Denver is here (lovingly) singing that song, and shortly thereafter also died in an airplane accident. Sigh. Kyu and John (et al) R.I.P.
Wow John so many nice woman around you it's one of your happy days and we all miss you the good news is your music will be with us forever thank u japan .
I cannot say why or really understand it but this song always brings me to tears. I am a ex-sailor who has spent a lifetime on ships and oil rigs, a biker and ex-rugby player so am used to toughness but "Sukiyaki" is so moving.
I love this. A Japanese audience willing to sit in the rain for John Denver and they all know Country Roads. ❤️❤️❤️
Don't get me wrong, have banged my head many times. This song just makes me happy.
John Denver had one of the most amazing natural singing voices that has ever existed.
John had a pure and beautiful voice. We miss you John. RIP.
I agree,
but at the 7:30 segment with Sheena Easton something was amiss with their duet.
Bad key? Bad song choice?
The two were a natural duet.

Someone once said calling "Ue o Muite Aruko" in America as "Sukiyaki" is like calling "Moon River" in Japan as "Beef Stew."
