Wow Sang this with my friends mom, Janey… ( at the end of the day when we worked together)she was 88 and I was 62… remembered it well from my childhood. Janey went to be with the Lord and I’m driving in the car one day, maybe a month later, and this song comes on. I cried my head off. But now it just brings me joy. I know Janey is in heaven and we will sing it again someday together❤️🙏
Many years ago, Roy Rogers had celebrated his birthday, and his lovely wife, Dale Evans, gave him a beautiful pair of cowboy boots. The next day Roy went riding out on the range with those beautiful boots on his feet. On the trail, he came across a mountain lion and got into a real tussle with it. Roy came away with only a few scrapes, but the big cat did a bit of a number on his boots. Roy rode home and had to tell Dale of his run-in with the mountain lion and the resulting torn up shoes. Being the loving and considerate wife, she of course put him at ease, telling him that the most important thing is he came home not too badly hurt. A few days later, the two of them went riding together. Off in the distance, Dale spotted a big cat, motioned to Roy and asked, "Pardon me, Roy... Is that the cat who chewed your new shoes?"
I am a baby boomer and child of the fifties and sixties. Grew up on rock and roll but in the past twenty years or more have been into jazz of all kinds. I started listening to swing as a teen and that was in the 70s. Yes, that junk called rap and hip hop is for the brain dead. One of my faves done right...

@rjuttemeijer This music reminds me so much of my parents. Mom had a collection of 78s she'd play. They danced in the kitchen, Dad wasn't much of a dancer, but Mom won prizes back in the late 30s & early 40s. They didn't meet until after the war. I still recall Mom's beautiful organdy dresses, puffed out by multiple petticoats, cinched in waist, huge intricately carved medallion earrings, Dad's suits from Hong Kong, wingtips. They were such a lovely couple.
I am not military. I am a WW2 buff. But this music is beautiful. My mum said her dad listened to up to the day of his demise. (Scotland). I didn't know that. Absolutely beautiful guys.
My Uncle who died in 2005 and was a long time member of the Glenn Miller Society, donated his vast collection of recordings, manuscripts, photographs etc to the University of Colorado. At the time Alan Cass said 'Its a great collection.'

The Norseman he was piloting was seen to be shaken by bombs in the offshore bomb disposal area (a drop site for bombers returning from missions to drop bombs not dropped over Germany) and went into the sea there. A crewman on one of those bombers described this in an interview I heard.
Awesome performance - saying that as guy who listens to Glenn Miller since 60 years. 🤩Love Veronica's voice with this timbre. Reminds me on Anita O'Day.
This version is actually very good! I've heard this a thousand time and was pleasantly surprised at how good these guys are. In particular I love the harmonies and lead.
Excellent! A time when excellence and class and beautiful music was common! Today, we have body piercings, green hair, t-shirts, and the crap that passes itself off as music, RAP!!👎

Our grandparents generation knew how to do it ❤
They new a lot of things, including how to fly to the moon.
My parents used to dance all the time 😊
They certainly did. Good music never goes out of style.

Waiting for the hairstyles and the dresses to come back. That would be pretty epic.
Love Veronica Swift. This is great.

Can't get over how great this band is! Standard of muscianship from everyone including singers is fantastic 👏👏👏
Veronica has such a lovely voice.
Brilliant.
I want to believe there is an alternate dimension, in a nearby parallel world, where this never left!
Probably is somewhere out there👍
Whoever did the work with the dress and hair style of the lead singer hit it right on target. And I loved her voice.
Super🎉😊
It's called Heaven, especially for all the men and women who kept the US strong, especially Glenn Miller.
😅😅 ja jajaja interesante pensamiento lo considero.

Wonderful performance great job veronica and great job by the band and male vocalists!

Wow! They be swinging. I'll bet Glenn Miller is swinging in Heaven watching this.
This came to R&R radio stations in the ‘50s then again in the ‘60s because great songs always find an audience.
