Im from new zealand born in 1958. This is the first song in my life i fell in love with. The sound of his voice moved my heart all the while not knowing what he was singing about. The music and melody had me floating about the ground. I have always loved this song. I learnt it as an adult
He was a joy to watch as he performed - I love was sad that hear of his passing . He left behind a wonderful legacy .
@@AndreaMN Amen ! Great singer & song !
Yes, some songs are just like that - no need to understand the language. They touch your heart. I have a few of those. Try "Butterfly Lovers" violin concerto. Orchestra, or Solo. Learn the phrases of the Chinese love story, then your emotion goes up and down with each segment. Wonderful!
Iwas about 11 years old when the original singer 's song came out and played big time in America . The whole Summer of 1962 or 63 ?; this played often on the radio; great memories .
Also a 1958 baby with fond memories... South African ♥
I am 71 I remember the in 1962 it was a world number one all over the world every body fell in love with the singer
Even for me, his song is just best thing after my studying stress. I really like his voice and the song❤
Great song by a great artist.
Heard this first in 62 as well. Was at Robinson Barracks elementary in stuttgart getting vaccinated per army protocol. Very calming. Esp for a 7 year who hated needles
sixty six years ago I was sitting back having breakfast when my family back in San Antonio, Texas when I first heard the original version of this tune. Which then inspired me to become a trombone player. I'm now going to be 71 and this version, though not the original opens my heart to the feeling I held then when I first heard it. The Lord Jesus Christ blessed me that day and I became a trombone player four short years later and I am still one to this day. Thank you Mr. Nakamura for inspiring me to become a trombone player and thank you Jesus Christ for opening my ears on that cold Texas morning. I've been a trombone trombone player for 61 years to date.
Que linda historia...😊
God bless you and keep playing brother for Jesus.
Thank you very much and also for you, greetings from Chile
Isn’t it amazing how music 🎶 has such a spiritual connection with humanity!? Interrobang ⁉️
@@nealliske7700 That's right, music is also a reflection of what happens with humanity.
I am 78 years old. This is the first song that touched not just my heart but my very being.

I’m in Hawaii listening to this song which takes me back to my childhood. I remember singing this song as a kid.
E'komo Mai! ❤
Me too.. Mahalo and much Aloha
I was only 8 yrs old growing up in the Chicago burbs when this song came out. I always loved it. This is a beautiful rendition. Thank you.

Regretfully, Kyu Sakamoto, the singer of this now-famous song, was killed on August 12, 1985, when JAL Flight 123 crashed, killing 520 of the 524 passengers and crew, the worst airline disaster of all time. Kyu was at the peak of his popularity at the time, and became "the face of the tragedy." To this day, many older Japanese still have bittersweet memories when they hear "We'll Meet Again."
They found the letter he wrote to his wife and children. I remember this song when I was a kid in Hawaii.
I was 12 when this song originally came out in the U.S.. It has always been my favorite song. Thanks to all for this very nice version.
I was ten when it came out and was playing trombone and I appreciate the trombone player. 10 years ago I learn to sing this song in Japanese. Go for it if you haven't already. Yes this is a challenge

My Dad passed in 63 when this song came out, I was just 15 years old. I think of Him every time I Hear it ❤️
Love that song by kyu Sakamoto. A teen when he sang it. I was saddened by his death in the JAL crash in 1986 I believe.
Thanks for your kindness and insight ❤❤❤!!!
I am born in the year that the song was introduced and in the end it put me on one long road towards all that is Japanese. History, martial arts, culture, literature, films, music and now finally the language...
A most touching tribute to the late Mr. Kyu Sakamoto.
I remember when this song came out in 1962? Even though I did not know the language or the singer, the words and music flowed so well together I could not stop hearing it in my mind. This youth orchestra did a fantastic job! Thank you for posting.
It's not only melody but still had the spirit of "Kyu Sakamoto" in music.
I've always loved this song, and hearing the Japanese youth of today playing the music is for me very sweet, as it helped to break the horrors of WW2 and begin to slowly unite nations. Kyu has done a wonderful job unknowingly for the future!
Great orchestral cover!
Oh God, this warms heart so much. The Clarinet and the Oboe. Music that heals both nations from such death and destruction. Dedicated to Dad, my Uncles who fought Pacific theatre and without animus.
I was a 6 year old in England when I heard this song on the old wireless and always loved it. One of my most favourite tunes and this young orchestra have done it proud. Well done to you all and thank you for sharing it with the world.
Wow wow wow - these kids are great! Thanks to each and every one.
im 127 years old i remember when this came out
the best rendition yet.
I am1/2 japanese and I'm very proud of my heritage and I love this song
This was one of my mom's favourite songs from when we lived in England. She could sing all the words, but didn't understand them. :)
I love this song ever since first hearing it on the radio sung by Kyu Sakamoto when I was 10.
Aged 70, I well remember this song too. It has always been a favourite of mine. 🙂
I first heard this many many years ago. The world was smaller and everything was much simpler.
Oh! Very very grateful. He already passed away several years ago. If he still be alive, he so proud his success of unforgettable workmanship.
Bravo!!!!
Brilliant these beautiful musicians , playing my favourite tune , SUKIYAKI Bravo 👏👏💔💔👏👏👏
The first time I heard this song I was a bit confused. I didn't understand the language but the melody was sweet and I liked it. When I read the lyrics in English I knew it was a love song. My mind associates the song with Sakura, and two lovers among the cherry blossoms.
Incredible talent displayed by each musician. The 1st violin is particularly superb. His passion is obvious. It speaks of the professionalism and dedication of the orchestra members that this magnificent interpretation of an all-time classic was done at the height of one of the worst periods in human history. Thank you all and may you keep entralling us with your music.
Perfection. One of my favorite songs performed immaculately by an outstanding group of musicians. You give me pure happiness. Thank you!

top of the charts in 1963. hit song sung totally in a foreign language. 60 years later we get this from a youth band. Fantastic!
Love this rendition of Sukiyaki. It invokes in me a sense of unhappiness.
Kyu Sakamoto RIP LIKE THE ORCHESTRA VERSION (from Heven) - THANKS from Israel
Bravo 🎉Bravo 🎉Bravo 🎉 beautiful Simply beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m Thai but I have heard this song when I was very young and tried to find out its name. I can remember that the singer had a very fantastic voice though I never knew the meaning, I still love it until now!

Absolutely astounding to see young musicians of today so obviously enjoying and caring about great music I loved as a teen growing up in So. California. Wonderfully done!
This comment got a thumb...and I'd forgotten just what the video was. So, I revisited it. It is still a very gratifying vid. I love it. You guys obviously did some experimenting on the road here. I can't help wondering if you tried muting the brass? I think it might work quite nicely that way, as well. Just a bit more melancholy...Not a bad thing. Check out Matsuda Seiko covering this, orchestrated and jazz.
I am so proud of you all. Look at what you can do after so much hard work and determination. Your piece is beautiful and a true homage to Kyu
Sending congratulations to you from Canada. This song will always be a classic enjoyed by everyone world wide. Thank you for such a beautiful arrangement. Very pleasing to my ears.
It was nice to jazzy up a little, more lively and interesting! Modernized the original🤗😍 piece of Music.
Incredible! Amazing how each instrument ads its own feel to the song. Why doesn't this video have more views...?
Just added 1 more 👍😀
Siete tutti bravissimi! Un abbraccio dall'Italia
We done!!! I've so loved this song over the years (I'm 71)...VERY tasteful cover!
Very wonderful, fantastic and amazing composer.
Thanks.
As a very young boy I remember when this song first came on the radio. Thank you for your rendition of this song. All you kids did a great job. Now I get to call all you kids because... I'm 66 years old. 😺 Again thank you so much for this presentation of an old favorite of mine.
I've grasped some of the phrases in the song and asked my nisei friends to interpret them for me; my perception was alright .. now, is a bittersweet memory of my youth of that nisei girl
Clarinet,oboe ,favs,9h trumpet,oh maybe trombone,oh oh oh ,all brilliant 🙏👌👍😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
This is very likely the very best pop song of all time. Everyone who hears it, loves it. This is a lovely vid, the kids do a fantastic job! Thanks so much to whoever posted this.

This song was a hit in the USA too! Excellent cover!
A new delivery of an old song. I love it.
Beautiful.
One of my most favourite songs and you played it beautifully. Thank you.
I remembered tht this song was so popular, that the Japanese emporor invited Kyu Sakamoto to his palace to sing for him. But poor Kyu Sakamoto was so nervous that he could not find his voice.
The National Song of Japan,...healing and love ever after.
Love the song when mum played it to me as a kid, and has always been a song I go to to cheer myself up.
