Check out Part 1 first if you haven't already: • Harley Dyna Disaster! ...
Welcome to Part 2 of the Harley Dyna Disaster! Check out the first video if you haven't already to get the full scope of the situation. Quick synopsis: I destroyed my stock clutch trying to learn wheelies on the 2013 Club Style Harley Dyna Street Bob. As a result, I decided to upgrade to a heavy duty Barnett Clutch with stiffer spring and extra kevlar plates. While torquing the screws to 100 ft lbs I unsurprisingly snapped five of the six screws. I realized after the fact that I was supposed to be torquing to 100 inch lbs! Learn from my mistake and don't do what I did! The big concern now was how to get the busted screws extracted from the clutch hub. I went to harbor freight and picked up reverse drill bits and a screw extraction kit. Check out the video to see what happened!

The fact that it took you 5 "snaps" to realize something was not right is a lesson you will never forget. Nothing beats experience. I commend you for posting a not so flattering video. After all we are all human (well some politicians aren't but you get the idea).

It was actually just a single snap - they all busted off at once. I replayed the clip a few times for comedic purposes. Lol. But no doubt I'll never mix up inches and foot pounds of torque again.

LOL - I did the EXACT SAME THING on a Honda Trike - used a torque wrench 18 in lbs vs 18 ft lb - was good for a few minutes then one of the heads shot off like a bullet! I blame myself, society AND the manual - should call out in RED (INCH LBS) esp on common repairs like the clutch. LUCKILY for me... I was able to unscrew 3 out of 4 screws remove the plates and vice grip off the broken bolt.

This video and a first part video is probably why I'll never buy a Harley. The quality is questionable, to say at least. This shows that in reality you end up paying 60% for the Harley name and 40% for actual motorcycle.

I'm certainly no expert regarding shop vocab, but here's what google says: The defining distinction, per Machinery's Handbook, is in their intended purpose: Bolts are for the assembly of two unthreaded components, with the aid of a nut. Screws in contrast are used in components which contain their own thread, and the screw may even cut its own internal thread into them.
