    Lmfao if you did any research you’d know why there’s one smaller friction plate. You obviously arent very educated on clutches

    Take a toothbrush to the discs - leave out center " pressure plate" ( it's the thick, double plate) and install the extra new disc. Re-assemble with new springs - remember your springs are old and weak. That is why they are softer.( barnetts are a little stiffer than stock so they will take more torque before slipping) they are performance parts. Put it back together and properly adjust. Always use primary oil in transmission - not motor oil
    Now, go ride it. You'll be happy. Used Barnett products for 40 years with zero complaints.

      So taking out the clutch and cleaning it is a regular thing for performance riders right? Is that what I'm hearing? I've been doing burn ounce peel outs From the get go like burning it out and then doing some corner drifts And then burning it out from the start and then riding out and it seems after I I do that the clutch gets sticky... Right now my clutch Right before it's ready to shift the other gear it's Lost a lot of power bit the rpms are high... like slipping? I just don't understand how could it be possible that I wore the clutch out? If it's such a top quality clutch and I'm doing the burnouts not long. I'm doing them for like 10 seconds or less. And I'm burning out when I'm peeling out and the clutch is high performance clutch right? It's supposed to handle that I just don't understand what's going on so basically what you're. Saying? Is. Take it apart? Clean. It with a toothbrush assemble it back together and then put the extra plate in that I could order right?

    I’ve been riding street bikes ( mostly crotch rockets) since 1991 and have had MANY bikes and ALWAYS used Barnett clutches and have NEVER had a single issue. I recently rebuilt a ‘01 Katana 600 and will be putting in a Barnett clutch and guarantee you I will not have any issues with it.

    I have a barnett in my vtx1800. That thing is awesome. I had a Sportster with one too and it was awesome as well. There might be something wrong with your bike if its going through clutches. Theres a reason why guys use them in drag races.

    If he is such a expert on what to buy for clutch friction plates he needs to say what they are instead of saying how much that he don’t like Barrnet clutch disc.

      I bought a set of those Barney clutch disc and the heavy duty Barrnet pressure plate with the heavy springs and put it all in and what a difference on take off. Those new barrnet friction plates and steel plates 8 plates a piece, makes that old Yamaha midnight star 1600 drive like a dream.

    • @offroading2867
      @offroading2867  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both it directly from Barnett in Ventura have a recipient. Your instruction its not clear and your customer service guy said it dosnt matter which side you putting.

    • @colleenbarnetttaylor2022
      @colleenbarnetttaylor2022 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Yes. But put the full story out. You purchased this and it came with full instructions, not that you didn’t know where the ‘[B’ plate went. You said when you installed it the clutch was doing the same thing your other clutch was doing. Our tech talked to you about adjustments and other issues. If 2 clutch kits are doing the same thing, there are other issues, but you didn’t listen and wanted to return it for a refund. The kit was used, we could not take it back. What you represented here is wrong.

    • @offroading2867
      @offroading2867  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yours are coming of the particles. And its totally different from original. You need to put instruction better as you did for thicker plate. The best thing will be if you take it back. I am not putting something that is chipping off. You don't stand behind your product, just greed.

    • @christaylor4266
      @christaylor4266 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      OFF ROADING you have no clue as to what you are talking about. You continue to show you know nothing about a clutch. If you want something exactly like stock, then buy stock! Aftermarket parts are not necessarily the same as stock in appearance or materials used.

    The kevlar fiber hardness is much less than the steel or aluminum in your engine. They'll get chewed up if anything. Just install it and feel the power and see why it's not a piece of junk.

  • @kmack282
    @kmack282 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hes picking hairs. The kevlar fibers will flatten or burn off immediately. Any remaining fibers then go directly to the sump; then filtered; then used again. The oil does not circulate from the clutch to the tranny, its the other way around. These clutches are top notch. Ignore this guy.

    As a clutch specialist, The most narrow one from top to bottom would go in first. First into the clutch reason, it needs to hang over jutter springs inside the basket. Then following your first small plate you alternate, steel, friction plate, steel, friction plate ECT, MAKE sure you have I>D your outter plate though, how? its wear patchs are a bit more narrow than the rest of the pack. Put it aside. That will be the last one to go into the basket. Also remember it goes back** by 1 tooth compared to all the other plates. Also, For anyone thinking wow he is right though that fiber is really coming off and wearing... its supposed to. These friction plates MUST be soaked in oil for about 20 25 minutes prior to installing otherwise they will burn up right away.

      That method is for a sport bike i should add. its a bit different for other bikes. Ive done 100 though and there all very similar you should have waited to take your old clutch out untill the new one was there with you, and as you removed your old ones, set a new one that match's right with it. in order for reassembly

    Purchased a Barnett clutch extra plate clutch package. Been screwing with it now for 3 months and cannot get it adjusted correctly. I called Barnett and like you said....They wont answer the phone and when they do they have no answers....They are guessing at best. One guy that was supposed to be the guru on clutches.....19 years old....So, there you have it...

    Barnett Clutches are Great ! Just brush the edges if your worried, with a soft tooth brush but your wasting your time. It's nice to know this manufacturer uses kevlar and not other inferior materials in products made by others, (chinese) that wearout fast. They all breakdown eventually though, you can't stop it. 😂

    I put some Barnett clutch plates in my shovelhead in 1983 many, many, many mile ago and they still look brand new and work perfectly in May 2020. I just took them out and inspected them while doing an alternator upgrade. These same plates have actually been through several engine rebuilds and bike builds. I been using same Barnett plates sinse i was a kid. WTF is this dude talking about? They will probably last till i die and they have been through hell.
