Reiza's own 3 different FFB profiles (i.e., basic, Default, & Default+) are designed in the same layered, hierachical manner as the PURE/PURE + Effects FFB profiles in the original Automobilista. The Reiza CUSTOM profile (i.e., basic) outputs steering torque acting around the front suspension's kingpin axis (this model was lifted directly from the PURE profile in AMS1). The Default profile takes the basic profile and adds damping, friction, road vibration, kerb effects, and longitudinal/lateral FRONT axis tire scrub/slip effects (i.e., EPAS model stuff). The Default+ profile takes the Default profile and features both front AND rear wheel EPAS scrub/slip effects as well as stationary/low speed drivetrain vibrations. The Reiza CUSTOM (basic) profile is only modifiable by the GAIN and LFB sliders to set the centering force and overal FFB strength; DAMPING and FX sliders only regulate the additional features activated by the Default and Default+ profiles.

So what Profile is the best? the + for Front and rear?

Hi guys, thanks alot for your comments and "forceful feedback". I have one correction to make. I thought that switching to "Default" or "Default+" would ignore the Custom FFB File. However, apparently it doesn't! So I have done another test session with the Default as bare as I can have it, and it indeed felt much better and similar to Default+, making the overall differences between the 3 types even smaller. So to have the genuine "Default" feel, I recommend to at least remove your custom FFB file from your documents folder as it still seems to influence the overall FFB. Then adjust your driver settings and in the ingame values to your preference.

must delete the rfuctor ffb file while out of the game and enter the game again so ams2 generate a new ffb file that you can test the default and default+
when loading game with a specific custom ffb file you can test only this and not the ams ffb files (default and default+)
thanks for video

FFB is a preference...THANK YOU AND FULLY AGREE! It's annoying when people say "you're settings are wrong" There is no wrong setting, but I do feel there can be BAD settings yet still. Set your wheel up to a setting that is best for you people. Some use settings for feel and winning. I use a setup for a more real feel, using higher FX or track feelings is what I like. I don't numb them so I have a better chance to feel what car is doing....that's not how it is in real life. My 2 cents...

For the default to work you would have to start from scratch on your base settings and game settings. It's no good judging it with a load of settings tuned to your previous ffb profile!

Hi Andy, I agree. I have done another test session with the Default as bare as I can have it, and it indeed felt much better and similar to Default+. So guys, to have the proper Default feel, I recommend to at least remove your custom FFB file from your documents folder as it still seems to influence the overall FFB. Then dial in the ingame values to your preference.

I wouldn't recommend copying the settings shown here (I know that wasn't the intention of the video) unless you have a comparable DD wheel base, but particularly for people that have gear and belt drive wheels, like Logitech / Thrustmaster T300 / T248. I'm still experimenting but I'm using these settings for my T248. Default+, Gain 75, LFB 65, FX 20, Damping 25 and vehicle specific set too 80%. In the wheel driver, I have "periodic" and damper turned down too 75%, the periodic setting I think is responsible for the constant vibration and lowering it a bit feels smoother.

Very interesting had not played around with the different default, default + etc. I have a logitech pro DD wheel. the FX setting seems to be directly related to logitechs true force FFB settings. turning down tf audio on my wheel completely kills the fx engine vibrations . they also seem to disappear in the custom setting vs default +. i think its important to use the telemetry display on hud that shows ffb force and when its clipping.I set up clipping slightly using the in game menu settings for the big sausages at laguna seca and about 1/2+ way for normal turn, tire load. then use the ffb gain settings from assigning keys change it on the fly while driving to comfort level about 3-6 nm in loaded turns depending on car. default plus seemed to be in middle as far as linearity around peak tire load with custom being very broad and subtle and default really focusing on the peak

Great vid Timo! I am going to have to do a more dedicated session using custom ffb. I actually have been fine with sc2 pro and the default ams2 ffb (shocking as it sounds!). My in game settings are very similar to yours especially with the dampening at 50%. Exactly what I use. I adapted the reiza sc2 sport settings for my use w just small tweaks. Again I’ll explore the custom setup a bit more now though! 😊

I've tried that rFuktor custom with Simagic wheel (as "raw" as possible driver settings) and it's an absolute rubbish. Seems that this custom profile rly should be used with Simucube wheel. So default+ is the way to go. Also noticed that ingame damping consumes a lot of FFB details, so I can't see any reason to set it up more than 20.
Anyway AMS2 FFB system is not something you expect from a sim title in 2023. Overcomplicated. Period.

The default + setting gives me a that understeer effect but it gets very hard to catch oversteer cause the damping seems to be too weak

Timo thanks for making this video, I had settled on very similar custom settings in the same baseline simucube setting that you were using. I was thinking the same thing how the 1.5 changes will affect that, so you’ve given me a good starting point to digging more. One quick question in your game configuration settings do you have steering sensitivity set to 50? For some reason somewhere along the line I changed mine to 69 I think because it helped on turn in with certain cars and making the wheel more reactive but it seems counterintuitive that that would be the best thing to build good settings from. I may try it again at default, just curious where yours is set?

the old kunos guys said , that you don´t feel much of curbs in a real car on a real track. fx settings in most games are injecting fake effects in the ffb which are not there in reality. i turn it off in most sims. i just want the raw feeling of the front axis and no fake effects.

• @TimoDick
@TimoDick  ปีที่แล้ว +4

Regarding curb feel, I cannot confirm. I've driven both diverse road cars and also racing cars (Formula BMW, Porsche GTR) on tracks, and, unless the curbs are not just painted, they were always tangible and had an impact and effect on the car handling. But to each his own. It has to suit YOUR needs.

• @x-vector7245
@x-vector7245 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I remember reading a comment about two years ago from some guy who claimed to have driven a Formula 4 (type) car and from what I recall he said that while the overall wheel resistance was less than he expected, when driving over curbs he felt like his teeth were rattling out of his skull.
Perhaps a touring class race car would be a bit more "disconnected" in terms of road feel, but I imagine you'd still feel something.

When you're on the motorway and go over the lines on the outside edge they make a hell of a rumble feeling to warn you you're off the road so I think bigger curbs and such will be a hell if an impact on a racing track with harder suspension . 😊

When you have a CUSTOM FFB text file (relabeled) in the AMS2 Documents folder, CUSTOM Need to be set in the FFB Games setting. Then when you change the in game FFB setting to Default or Default + ,the game is still using the Custom FFB text File in the documents folder. Am I correct? Wouldn't you need to delete the rFactor custom file with the default and restart AMS 2. Can someone expand on this for me?

I'm not sure if I've understood your question correctly, but the game is only using the settings in the custom file when the in-game FFB setting is on "Custom." Selecting "Default" or "Default+" reverts to the game's built-in presets.

• @rtimmins7212
