With a few tweaks on FFB and immediately it's like night and day difference. Thanks so much Mike and credits to Papryk's for sorting out this issue.
I watched Papryk's video yesterday and was on the fence as well, but these tips make the game so much more enjoyable. My tip is to put the tire volume at something like 20, low enough to not hear the scrubbing, but high enough that you can hear the tires screech if you lock up. I'm no pro, I do that sometimes :) The custom FFB feels great on my T300

Thanks Mike, I’m with you on reducing the Tyre volume but I went with 20 for a bit of feedback. The camera I find way too bouncy when fixed to car so I have head motion on 40 as a compromise. The Full force ffb has too much going on for me and I running one called Rack Force that is very basic, is a couple of pages on from where you were in the forum thread. Great for those who feel that's something wrong, but all this is very subjective and down to personal taste. Regarding tires sound, I'm totally the opposite, I crack the volume of tires up and low the rest (nothing to zero though) and honestly that's something I appreciate in AMS2 and thing it does better than the competition because there is levels to the tires noise. There is a sound for them just rolling over the tarmac, there is a sound for them sliding, there is sound for them scrubbing, the is a sound for them slipping and there is a sound for tires locking up. But hey, for each their own and if those tips makes you appreciate more the game and have more fun just go for it.
I have had camera settings as Mike suggests for ages, and use default ffb. I feel the same as you about tire sounds. I like the grip info I get from that. But maybe I’ll compare a previous fast lap and see if I can match it w tire sounds off. 😊
Cranking up tire sounds just makes plain sense. It is the ONLY thing between your vehicle and the tarmac. For anyone that's driven a street car hard, you absolutely must listen to what the tire is doing, especially when taking corners on the very limit - which is tough as you must turn the tunes down, which feels really odd but anyway. Someone on youtube has a video on how to remove the TC sound, which some apparently confuse with a tire slide. Sounds to me that if those folks were to leave the TC sound alone and crank up the tire volume that they'd be able to distinguish the difference, instead of gutting the game.
Been using those camera settings for a while, definitely feels better to me. I'll try the tyre volume and maybe the custom ffb, although the Default + feels ok to me.

I tried all these settings but tbh I preferred the defaults and went back to them. 1) maybe I'm just too used to it, but tyre sounds are important for me as a tool to rely on when I'm going over the limit. I can see why one might want to tone them down because the limit in AMS2 is kinda... floaty. But I still like to hear it. 2) Removing all head movement just makes everything super bumpy... I am using legacy head movement but with just a tiny bit of movement to muffle the bumps. 3) The custom FFB was rather meh to me. The FX adds unneccessary effects, like engine vibrations, so I immediately turned it off. I like how immediate rest of the feeling was, but there was too much countersteer to my taste - it felt like the wheel was fighting me everytime I started turning it. I don't want to look like a hater - just saying that these setting may not necessarily work for you... they did not for me.
Absolute credit to you sharing this gold find if ffb ! I've been through them all and they all felt terrible and default + felt great to me with an asetek la prima wheelbase . This fullffb is the bees knees and seems to add a little on top of default +and didn't numb anything up at all . I found most of those other ones to feel so numb coming out of a turn I couldn't understand why anyone would want it . 👍🏻 Thanks I love this game so much .
Thanks! The FFB profile is really great on my CSL DD, and then the tweaks to the camera + the sound was needed. The Cadillac GTP feels very similar to iRacing, which is really fantastic. Feels really intuitive.
Thank you mate. A lovely single player experience just got much better! I use an ancient Logitech Driving Force GT, and that FFB file was badly needed, as it turns out!
Awesome Video Mike. Your contribution(s) to Sim Racing as a whole, can't be understated. I still use your FFB video guide for AC using the LUT Generator, that gives me awesome FFB on my lowly G29. I will try these settings out also - when the Australian Summer Heat finally allows me to do so for longer periods. Cheers Mr SimRacing604.
I posted here in another reply, but to be more visible, here it is: I also found pitch to have a big importance on the "center-wheel" effect some (including me) complained about. Lower the car's pitch until the wheels/front axle of the car are at the bottom of the screen. That's where 'I feel' the FFB and having the wrong pitch (wheels/front axle more towards the top/middle of the screen) make it feel there is an axle/wheel beneath our seat. Hope it makes sense.
Thanks Mike for doing this video and sharing the info. I've been playing ac and iracing for quite a few weeks and gone back to ams2 recently felt so so weird. There is definitely a huge disconnect and you feel like you are hovering above the road. It's hard to put into words but every other sim feels like the tires are digging in, ams2 doesn't have that for me. I'm sure over time you'll get used to it, but first impressions after a long hiatus is quite jarring
Nice compilation of info across the community. I applied and it is better experience especially the custom ffb (simucube pro). The cars are still sliding but not floating anymore. There is a good video explaining why the cars slide in ams2 by Nils. The podometer guy.
I had those camera settings for a while now, it just feels more realistic to me in a static rig to not have the horizon and car bobbling around all over the place as my head isn't moving with them like it would in real life. The FFB and tyre volume settings are a game-changer though! This might be the final step I was looking for as I was 95% happy with AMS2, but there was still something not quite right. Thanks to you for bringing Papryk's tips to my attention 👍
Great tips here Mike! I turn off the "head movement" in absolutely every sim. It gives me motion sickness and the way sims slowly move the dash up and down to try and replicate elevation change is terrible. For me personally it's very distracting and I have never felt anything remotely close to that in my real world driving.
Also, how much better is that ffb custom file than default +? I used to use custom files in AMS 2 but ever since they updated default + I have felt the need for customs anymore. I'll have to check this one out!
It's a personal preference. I turn it off, but many don't like it that way. The most important point is any screen movement should match the feeling you are getting. Indeed, there are many reports of those turning off head movement feel more motion sickness than when it is off. Like I said - it is all very personal.
Ok.. Added to my list of things to do next time I plug in my Cammus C5. Casual racer here.. I wish my flight stick had force feedback $$$$. Lol... Great AMS 2 Content. Thanks.
I tried this downloaded ffb settings, but for me on a DD wheel the default+ was better. It has a better feeling and I’m getting more info through the wheel. But that’s just my taste. Plus I also like a little tire sound and a little head movement. Thank you for the video though and all the work you do.
after testing alot of these custom ffb i return to the basic Default. Some custom FFB work good in some classes, but if you just need one setup for all, Reiza makes the best job. Its too expansive in time and work if you switfh alot between the cars.
I turned down the tire volume and it does make a difference to my perception. I already had the same settings for the camera. The FullFFB I didn't have and it is really good (version 12 now). I have a Moza R5 so of course the Pithouse settings will also affect the FFB. I am in the habit of setting the in game FFB too 100 and then adjusting the Pithouse Game Force Feedback Intensity downwards. So after watching your video I set the in-game FFB to 47 and put the Pithouse one to 100 thinking that this would deliver the same feel as the way I do it. It doesn't. I actually prefer my way of doing it. It would be interesting to hear from you your Moza settings so I can try to duplicate somehow what feel you actually get. I know this comment seems all confusing for which I am sorry. But any and all information about how people set up the FFB for AMS2 is useful I think.
Very interesting I have set my game to your suggested numbers and FFB file will use like this for a few days and see how it feels right away I did feel a bit more detail and the tire silence if nothing else is way less annoying :)
Been using Karstens base files for over 2 years now, keep recommending them to all wheel players so it's great to see a tuber finally get round to highlighting them for removing/reducing probably the most common complaint about ASM2 being too floaty or slidey in forum discussions.. GG Mike :) Just gonna try these files you mention.. EDIT: Hmm still prefer the base files in 1st POST. But then again that's the beauty of this thread, there's files tuned for different tastes, wheels and driving styles. Moral of the tale, if you don't like the files you try, keep looking, names that people have recommended over the life of the thread are, Karsten, Danielkart, KUKU, Stakanov, those are some I have tried due to recommendation of others. Don't stop looking till you exhaust all options....
2:31 I agree this is for most of the cars, especially the modern ones, a bad thing inherited from Project Cars, although not for all of them, some cars like the Opalas have the tire sound very accurate.
Thanks Mike. I have heard much discussion of the “floaty feeling” in AMS2 but, honestly, have not experienced it (but do feel it in ACC). Maybe because I use a ButtKicker that detects rear-end slide?
I was about to dish AMS2. I like the content, AI and graphics. But it didn’t work for me. Couldn’t connect with the car. I used default+. The most important change was custom FFB: JP or Danielkart. Didn’t imagine how big this change could be. 2nd most important, low tire volumes (30 for me to just listen blocking). 3rd, freeze head movement. Thanks, I will give it a try again.
Thanks for share it! I tried the custom dd file and I doesn´t feel well for my taste, I feel as loosing many information from my dd base (Simagic Alpha Mini). Maybe need to make some adjusts but for now I prefer the feeling of the Default profile. I totally agree with the tyre sounds and his too early ´´activation´´ on some cars, for example in the HiTech formulas. The adjust of the cameras that I have before is exactly this one. Anyway thanks again for share it!
For this to work for me I need to find more dampening out of the R9. Can you help me understand where best to add more .. (rack_damp_scale 0.0) # Reiza variables.. or center force.
Legacy head movement should ALSO be turned off if you’re using a VR headset. I can now look all the way down the road at the horizon and it’s in focus! I thought I needed more resolution. Nope. I just need to stop the damn camera from shaking.
Hey Ed! I would recommend you try it, yeah. The good news is that it’s non-destructive. So if you don’t like it, or the difference is minimal, just go back to Default or Default+ in game. But for my Moza R16 it made a significant difference.
Long timer subscriber on a different account (cannot access it at the moment). Your videos are fantastic and you have a good way of presenting your thoughts. I would really like to see you compare same car / same track between AC and AMS2 and describe the feeling differences. I have a VRS wheelbase and have my AC dialed in. I use Brands Hatch to test out new cars. I cannot get AMS2 to feel similar to AC and I'm not sure if it is even possible. If you could do a couple of same car / same course laps and describe what you feel on AC and what is missing in AMS2 that would be awesome. I just cannot put my finger on it, and not sure if it is a settings problem or just a difference between how the two game engines work.
I know you;re not asking me but a major thing missing is the sense of weight shift to the cars, Meaning slamming the brakes and doing a hard turn isn't punished by oversteer. Any other sim does that. Also the pivot point comes from the center of the car, not the front wheels. Very unnatural, especially in high downforce cars.
Whag is the point of downloading the custom FFB file when you can just copy the sliders from your screen, which you already mention are highly personal? What am I missing?
Great question. The best analogy I can make is that the base FFB profile is a song, and the custom FFB file is a cover of that song. And the sliders are the bass, mid, treble. So the FFB profile (Default, Default+, Custom) has a unique feel, and the sliders make adjustments to that unique feel. No amount of adjustment of the sliders will make the Custom FFB profile feel like the original. Hope that makes any sense.
@@SimRacing604 It makes a little sense, but where else can we make adjustments to the FFB other than the sliders we see on screen? I'm assuming there are more, otherwise we would just copy the sliders. FWIW I'm using direct drive and am very happy with the FFB, but didn't know if I was missing other adjustments. Thank you for the help
The real difference lies in the customisability, especially simple with the FullFFB file mentioned in the video. For me, personally, the best aspect of it is the option to change vertical forces by editing one value since I really hate having my entire cheap wheel stand jump if I happen to not hold my feet firmly on the pedals when going over a bump. I usually also disable the engine effect in the FX section and play with the scrub values a bit, and the possibility of doing that is what definitely makes it worth a try if you've got the time to experiment a little bit and personalise the settings for yourself.
@@papryk3102 Yes, both introduce small details in FFB and every wheelbase will show them differently. My Moza R12 is know to be 'very detailed', requiring some more filtering than other manufacturers. Both are canned effects, both existed in original file (the one I started with), and I also tweaked them. But I remember trying P4 and it was really grainy, the first time I tried damping (an 10 did the trick).
This didn't do much for me.. the only way to address the slidiness is thru tuning and Reiza fine tuning the physics. It's just deeply rooted in the game. At this point you either accept it or move on. I'm moving on when LMU drops.
I played AC the other day, the neckfx in custom shaders was so much worse than AMS2 😅😅 I laughed my ass off. It was a floaty mess and made a total joke of the "superior feel" of AC 😅 Turned that off just like you have to here in AMS2.
Because not all of the cars they represent have hydraulic only suspension. Indeed, the DRS is just the front lifting - there is not opening of wing slots etc. There are plenty of videos from Reiza which explain this, as well as the details in the car menus themselves.
Interesting, I've had my tire squeal turned right down and all head movement disabled for a long time. I was wondering if some of the complaints was just peoples brains reacting to the near constant noise from the tires. Car feels planted to me until I deliberately overdrive it.
something must be off if we need to fiddle with some custom ffb profile to make it feel plausible. rf2, ac, acc, all work just fine out of the box. There must be something buried deep in the fiziks that still needs to be addressed.
I use default+ and I'm fine, I don't really know the need for fiddle with it, but then again so many hardware and usually people want the Sim to feel as they like, I interpret that as trying to make every Sim feel the same way and I personally find that boring, but I'm slow and casual so I don't really cout 😅
I think AMS2 makes it relatively easy to fiddle with, so people fiddle. Default is fine for me. By way of comparison. There is a 70 page thread on the rF2 forums about fiddling with FFB settings. And that is generally acknowledged to be the best sim on that front.
Can you make a video on how to launch rf2? I still haven't gotten past the intro screen because I refuse to pay 100k eur to get bmw motorsports to setup this shit or something.
@@danielfowler899 idk man I haven't even tried launching it in years. I was mostly joking because it's such a broken software lol AMS 2 definitely looks promising though, if only people PLAYED IT!!! 111
I’m at the 5 minute mark and this is already too complicated and iffy for me. Thankful for console. Every time I start thinking I need to go to pc a video like this comes along to remind me why I haven’t. Lol. Thanks Mike 👍🏻👍🏻
I don't mind. I'm not a "creator" and I just wanted more people to get a chance at an improved experience with the game so having some actual "sim racing youtubers" pick up on these little tips and sharing them sounds like a win to me albeit I wouldn't mind for an invitation to experiment with the custom FFB settings to be included (especially with JP's file which makes it extremely easy) and, of course, an acknowledgment that the default setups are usually extremely oversteery and people should be aware of that before they blame everything on "bad physics".
@@papryk3102 fair enough I guess. I agree that it’s needs to be common knowledge so more people can enjoy the sim. Maybe even new defaults on the game especially the camera. I disagree via setups though personally , alot of them are understeery and frankly inconsistent between cars. Defaults need work for sure either way.
As long as the pivot point comes from the center of the car instead of the front tires it will drive terrible, no matter what you do, . They need to change that asap.
Try to change the pitch ("W" and "S" I think). Did a lot of difference to me, putting the wheels more on the bottom of the screen. This is another thing like the sound, it changes perspective/interpretation of reality.
Over the last few days Ive really fallen in love with this game. Getting into race room too believe it or not...but AMS2 with VR is just another world! I'm gonna try these tips out. custom FFB made the game much better right out the gate! By the way I really been likin your channel my man! Good content and I guess I just like your personality is all.
I use a custom FFB profile - everyone should. The Default and Default+ profiles attempt to feel "okay" for a wide range of wheels. Just like ALL other sims, you need to tweak things to be as you want. It is good to see a high-profile TH-camr showing this. Note: ALWAYS check notes in the custom FFB file. The LFB, FX, and DAMPING sliders may not related directly to their indicated function in the menu. For example, even with a DD2 on 100% my profile requires I use GAIN to reduce the range, LFB to tune Fast-Bump effects, FX tune Slow-bump effects, and DAMPING to move effects balance. YMMV. *IMPORTANT* - always restart AMS2 after changing the custom FFB settings in the file. It will not be reloaded automatically - it is currently only loaded at start. There are ways to blow away anything you feel from AMS, rf2, ACC, and AC - so far you have done about half of them 🙂
We just had interesting discussion under Davecam’s video and someone referred to your video Mike so here I am and will give it a try. Btw, looks like Papryk is from Poland too 🇵🇱🫡👊

Thank you Mike! I really want this game to feel good but so far I couldn't get into it due to ffb. This feels much better 👌
I like the game how it is as of today but i will consider this in the future.
Thanks, FFB is really nice - definitely gives the cars a more AC feel.
Ok.. Added to my list of things to do next time I plug in my Cammus C5. Casual racer here.. I wish my flight stick had force feedback $$$$. Lol... Great AMS 2 Content. Thanks.
Thank you Mike..... Just what I need to complete my Setup ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
THX for sharing
They should integrate custom FFB by standard, if its better
GG Mike :)
Just gonna try these files you mention..
EDIT:
Hmm still prefer the base files in 1st POST.
Nice one. Trying it now on my TSPC feels sweet! 🤜🤛
2:31 I agree this is for most of the cars, especially the modern ones, a bad thing inherited from Project Cars, although not for all of them, some cars like the Opalas have the tire sound very accurate.
@SimRacing604 you should try the alegunner v3.1 custom ffb. it's my absolute favorite.
Hey man how do I turn off all this vibration I have going on when just driving? Feels a bit too busy for me, I copied your settings directly
I agree, on my Logitech DD Pro the default+ gives much more info through the wheel. The downloaded setting was very bland.
Mike would you recommend the custom FFB even with the AccuForce DD?
Hey Ed! I would recommend you try it, yeah. The good news is that it’s non-destructive. So if you don’t like it, or the difference is minimal, just go back to Default or Default+ in game. But for my Moza R16 it made a significant difference.
Brilliant ❤ Thx
Forget i racing
AMS2
Is now the best
Is it really a big of difference with custom ffb with a DD wheel?
It's a 5 min job to give it a try. I prefer the custom FFB but Default/Default+ is fine for a lot of people.
It doesn't matter if it is DD or not. Every wheelbase is different and every output from the game will 'sound' different on different wheelbases.
As much as I want to love this custom FFB, it gives me horrible graining on high speed corners under load.
Use damping (5-15) to counteract.
For me, setting the engine effects to 0 and playing with scrub scale has been helpful.
Its game in Ps4??
I played AC the other day, the neckfx in custom shaders was so much worse than AMS2 😅😅 I laughed my ass off. It was a floaty mess and made a total joke of the "superior feel" of AC 😅 Turned that off just like you have to here in AMS2.
I just want a way to make Assetto Corsa feel more like AMS2.
Why dont all of the Dormula Hightec Don't have DRS?
Because not all of the cars they represent have hydraulic only suspension. Indeed, the DRS is just the front lifting - there is not opening of wing slots etc.
There are plenty of videos from Reiza which explain this, as well as the details in the car menus themselves.
Interesting, I've had my tire squeal turned right down and all head movement disabled for a long time. I was wondering if some of the complaints was just peoples brains reacting to the near constant noise from the tires. Car feels planted to me until I deliberately overdrive it.
i think braking is messed up in ams2
It's far too easy. And AI brake far too soon.
I wish AMS2 would have the tyre feel like AC other then that it would be so good
😂
something must be off if we need to fiddle with some custom ffb profile to make it feel plausible. rf2, ac, acc, all work just fine out of the box.
No, Default/Default+ works great for a lot of people. For others, a custom file could be the key (not everyone likes the same)
Can you make a video on how to launch rf2? I still haven't gotten past the intro screen because I refuse to pay 100k eur to get bmw motorsports to setup this shit or something.
Hi dude, whats the problem?
I can try to help
@@danielfowler899 idk man I haven't even tried launching it in years. I was mostly joking because it's such a broken software lol AMS 2 definitely looks promising though, if only people PLAYED IT!!! 111
@tracklizard4018 OK mate, no worries :) have fun
I hate this game's FFB which is made by a PC2 engine, PC2 engine!
I’m at the 5 minute mark and this is already too complicated and iffy for me. Thankful for console. Every time I start thinking I need to go to pc a video like this comes along to remind me why I haven’t. Lol. Thanks Mike 👍🏻👍🏻
Pressing control c then control v really isn't complicated my dude.
You are happy to have less options? Strange take.
When I realize I already have all these settings and the sim is still doo doo.
Why the “cheap copy” though instead of reposting his video so he can get the view credit?
The first and the last step: install RF2, case closed.
So why u here?
@@Slakass55 to enlighten the uneducated.
@@jopereirapt Thanks! I am in VR tho so I don't think that will make a difference...
@@MrBreakthompson VR here too and had the same thought.
Thank you Mike, and thank you papryk3102 for that wonderful information.
Btw, looks like Papryk is from Poland too 🇵🇱🫡👊
Hy motion blur enable or disable?
People say AMS2 isn't a PC2 mod yet that FFB file was developed for PC2 and AMS2 uses it because they have the same FFB and physics issues.
