I must agree, this update is fantastic. Most of my favorite cars handle even better than before. The addition of some off road action is like icing on the cake. Now if I could just get my hands on a proper dd wheel base and move on from my V2.5, I will be in sim racing heaven.

Glad to see most people are happy with the update. It’s definitely better, the slidey feel is much reduced. Either I’ve gotten much quicker or the AI have been nerfed a bit too much, I’m qualifying P1 even with the AI at 120 and Hi aggression and that never happens normally.

1.5 is a revelation. The junior might be my favorite car in the title atm. Incredible communication and an absolute pleasure to drive.
Were the CART cars not included in that “pre 1.5” release where a bunch got the 1.5 updates although we were still in 1.48? They were already some of my favorite cars but haven’t revisited. Can’t imagine them getting any better. Tbh it’s been pretty overwhelming considering the amount of moving parts to 1.5.

  • @XTRMNTR2K
    @XTRMNTR2K ปีที่แล้ว +1

Great video, Mike! Other cars that have massively improved with 1.5 and are worth trying include the Formula Vee and F-Trainers (basic and advanced), all of the Caterhams (though the 620R remains a little bit strange, IMHO), the Camaro SS (which now feels like a proper sports car!) and the classic Corvettes (C3 and C3-R, they feel SO much better, and they're more fun than their counterparts now!).
Seeing how this update grew from the Beta side of things was a mindblowing experience to be honest - what Reiza managed to do (and the pace at which they did) was nothing short of a herculean effort, IMHO. Not only has the sim never been better, but the cars have never been more consistent in terms of FFB and physics than they are now. The few oddities that remain (like the pendulum effect of the Corvette C8 sports car) are now down to less than a handful out of the entire vehicle roster in AMS2. Once these are fixed (and the karts receive their well-deserved physics update as well), the physics and FFB consistency and quality is easily up there with the best racing sims, IMHO.

I've gotten a chance to play it for a couple hours and the update is pretty mind boggling. Because I had a bit of a sinking feeling at first: Is it just me, or does anyone else get a bit nervous when cars become easier to drive in a sim? I think it absolutely stems from the simracing myth that "harder to drive=more realistic", but handling these cars on track, it's almost like turning on a couple driver aids to make handling the car easier, the difference is ridiculous. When it's all said and done, it's a matter of accepting that AMS2 has figured out how to get the FFB to properly communicate what the car is doing, and perhaps the fixes to the tire model allow for a more consistent experience in terms of predicting oversteer/understeer. I still think there's just a TAD bit of vagueness in the front end left over, and as with every sim, not every car is a homerun, some are a bit more bland and predictable than others, but this update has completely changed the sim by providing a cleaner, less noisy connection between the FFB and what the tires are doing. It's quickly becoming my favorite sim, not only because of how communicative Reiza is, but the sandbox nature of the game along with its ever improving handling model and the best dynamic weather in any sim at the moment really make this one tough to beat. Can't wait to play more!

Haven't been using my sim wheel for quite a while, in fact since a clumsy fall accident on September 26th 2022 with damaged ligament and Rotatorcuff Syndrome and 100% keyboard driving from then on. So pains just gone as of today, timely for AMS2 1.5 release candidate, I packed out my flexible simrig and tried:
    1) Formula Junior @ wet Südschleife
    2) Formula Junior @ Wet 1988 Cascais (Estoril)
    3) Formula Classic Gen 3 Wet @ 1988 Jerez
    4) Formula Classic Gen 4 @ Random Weather 1988 Jerez
    5) RX tremendous Citroën DS3 RX @ Nürburg RX Course
    6) Citroën DS3 RX @ Spa RX Course
    7) GT1 Mercedes CLK-GTR @ Wet Road America mixed classes.
And must say Reiza have knocked out the park.
Now in aches again I'd rather be in pain and vein than keyboard driving again after those supreme AI experiences with FFB+ feature.
Heck this day was lotta fun!

That floaty feeling is for sure reduced if not gone, they are much more precise and direct, I really like that!
However there is just something so odd in AMS2 that others picked up on too. During medium/highspeed corners you usually turn the car in and wait for grip and give gas to speed up. But in AMS2 you can simply turn the wheel more and just give gas instead of letting go and you all the sudden gain more grip, its so fundamentally different from any other sim and it drives me nuts.
There also seems to be infinite aero grip, seriosuly. Have you guys ever lost the rear during a highspeed corner? Not TC spin but actual lack of downforce? Its impossible!?
I really want AMS2 to fix this because I love the sim!
