      I bought a Ring doorbell a month ago and never realized they nickel and dime you just to see video of someone walking to your door. It makes the product essentially useless unless you pay up every month. I already paid for the device that's using my power and Internet service, I gotta pay extra to see a 30sec clip of a stranger poking around my house? No way.

    I had to swap out my NuTone doorbell camera because of how much it sucked and purchased this one. I installed it myself. I had never done anything like this before and it was quite easy to install. I love it so far. WAY better quality than the NuTone I had.

    Just installed the 2k wireless/wired version kit... Its great so far, Our chime/base unit with the included mini sd storage has foldable antenna's on each side of it, included the wedge w the 2 holes All installs are obviously different, and ive noticed diff of product types for the chime after watching multiple reviews so far... Thanks for the extended views of the App settings, That is what i was looking for Since there is not really an in depth explanation of the app functions.

    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

    I just installed the 4K version with battery or wired install and am going to send it back, the battery wouldn't charge off the doorbell wiring and it wouldn't detect motion at night. Replaced it with the 2K wired version and it works flawlessly.

    Thanks for the informative review. When the doorbell is pressed do you get a distinctive "ding-dong" sound on your mobile (iPhone) or just a standard notification? I have the current model doorbell and I only get a standard notification and so miss pretty much every bell press.
    My mate has a Ring doorbell and when its pressed he gets a clear and distinctive "ding-dong" on his phone. Albeit he pays a subscription it appears the better system?

    • @randomhomegadgets
      @randomhomegadgets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’m glad that you like the video. When the doorbell is pressed, you will receive a push notification on your phone along with a sound. You can choose in the app what kind of alert sound you like. There are 10 choices including the “ding-dong” sound. It’s under setting -> notification -> app alert tones.
      The Ring system has similar function as the Eufy system. I like Eufy better due to no subscription.

    Great & clear installation video RHG👍
    One issue i had i upgraded my wi-fi (5ghz) connection not realising the door bell only works on 2,4ghz
    which rendered the door bell useless and would only work as a chime when pressed
    I got on to my wi-fi provider just the other day who remotely setup my wi-fi connection so i would have both connections on my broadband
    (the slow lane & fast lane as he put it)
    But still would not connect after reinstalling Eufy app and even a different email (as if i'm setting up for the first time) still no joy
    Until i seen another post were you have to press the reset button at the back of the door bell I'm positive it doesn't mention this in the booklet?
    I've not done this setup as of yet but will try today (25/03/23) when i get home hopefully it picks up the 2.4ghz signal and i'm good to go.
    Any tips would be appreciated if anyone out there has had the same issue.

    The wires behind the doorbell seem to be exposed to the elements? Can water get in? Just curious

    • @randomhomegadgets
      @randomhomegadgets  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not water resistant but not water proof. So occasional splash won't cause a problem, but if you blast water straight on it the water will get to the wires. This is true for all wired doorbells, unless you put a layer of electrical insulation pad between the doorbell and the wall.

      Hi there, there are many reasons that the battery is draining. It could be due to excessive battery use due to frequent recording activity. @@randomhomegadgets Humm, thats interesting, w the wireless we got i just hooked it straight up, works great, Although i did test the output on the leads at the door and it was about 18 to 19 volts, So i figured that was great all things considered.... given the house is 45yrs old w original system etc.... is there an onboard way through the app to see battery status, if i recall somewhere in another review somebody said no, Then again i cant recall if it was for this brand/model or not. Eufy is great for onboard storage and not being a mandatory $ service upcharge on the cloud crap, that is a big factor imo

      If you use the wired version, the electric leads need to directly power the doorbell so will need higher voltage. When you use the battery version and wire it, the electric leads are used to charge the battery, not directly power the doorbell, so lower voltage would be ok.
      As for the battery status, I believe there's a battery status icon next to the wifi icon on the main screen.

    Man why does everyone skip the part where they actually show how to activate the two way talk?!? Ive searching for hours now and nobody shows how to activate it. Everyone skips immediately. Yes it might be as simple as press the horn button, but no one shows it

      Sorry I skipped it in this video. I showed it in another video with the Video Doorbell. Here it is: th-cam.com/video/2LXLKL5kU08/w-d-xo.html

    Isn't that bell easy to steal? You just clicked it to that thing mounted on the wall. Anyone can take it off then.

    • @randomhomegadgets
      @randomhomegadgets  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clicking mechanism won't allow it to come off unless you have the pin key to unlock it. But if someone has a pin key, then it can be removed easily. The video is saved at the chime inside the house, so you can still recover the video if someone try to steal it.

      Thanks for the comment. It connects to the internet via 2.4G Hz wifi channel, same as most of the smart security devices on the market.

      If you use their provided spacer it’ll be slightly easier since there is a bit more room.

      Try to bring the chime closer to the doorbell and push the reset button on the chime. If still not working may need to get a replacement from eufy

    why on earth are you wearing those bloody wiring gloves to use those very clean, first time used tools? why cant i find one video of the someone giving the polarity of the wires.

    • @randomhomegadgets
      @randomhomegadgets  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The 2 wires come out from the doorbell transformer are not polarized. Since they carry alternating current (AC), there's no one strict positive wire or one strict negative wire. The polarity of the wires alternates and hence the name "alternating current". This is in contrast to the direct current (DC), which will have a fixed positive wire and a fixed negative wire.

      @@randomhomegadgets there is no info on this in all the instructions eufy give. I bought a 24VAC plug in the end. doesn't work with a ring charger which is DC

    • @randomhomegadgets
      @randomhomegadgets  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do talked about it, but not that obvious: "Note: Installation requires existing doorbell wires at 16-24 VAC, 30 VA, or above."
