  • Virginia, you've got a solid overall outlook here. To the west, you look awesome. Towards the coast, you're going to be looking at some significant warming, as well as some serious sea level rise issues. Check it out, we'll walk through projected changes to seasonal temps, precipitation, and more, and help you identify risks and actions to take in your area.

    Hi Emily
This is Maryam(PNW). The mountains look great for Virginia, thank you for the video!

Thanks, Maryam! Those mountains do look just wonderful in the projections. There are places that look rough and the news always focuses on that, but it's just as important to know where we can build good lives!

Thank you- we are undeniably moving into a challenging future, but we'll do better if we can continue to cultivate happiness. It's easy to get stuck, the problems are real. But we can't learn or act as well if we let ourselves get stuck in despair.

i learned about climate change in 1983, my last year in high school. in class we watched a documentary called `a warming warning`. 41 years of little or no action.

@@user-mv5ek8ix9o I was born around then. Growing up in Chicagoland, of course I learned about climate change. My family was pretty crunchy in many ways- low consumption, growing food, composting, recycling. Many of us are lived witnesses to our society's failure in communication & action on this issue. I try to communicate about these things a little differently, based on my research in science communication. It's way too late to stop the train, but this ride isn't over. A lot of what's been saved so far has been saved by citizen & community action.

I live in Virginia Beach, near the water in a place that'll be at risk of being under sea level at 2ft, and definitely underwater at 10ft sea level.
I've already wanted to leave the city as Im poor and its unaffordable, plus the job market is mediocre at best, so Im seeking to move northeast to New England or possibly the Great Lakes.
As much as I dont like living here, its sad to think that the place I grew up in will be underwater in the not too distant future.

@KimJungGooner that is sad to think about. These projected changes are really hard. I hope you can get to a safer place soon. There are a lot of really quality affordable places around the Great Lakes- if you don't like it too cold in the winter, check out "coastal" Ohio.

@@AmericanResiliency Fortunately I'm partial to cold temperatures, so I think the western great lakes like you mentioned in another video would be great.

@@KimJungGooner nice! That area, to my taste, it's about the best there is.
