- An unintended project indeed - I went to buy a part and came home with another car. I was doing the same thing 25 years ago... went to buy an indicator switch for a Sigma I had and walked out with a turbocharger... Anyway, the first chapter on the XC Fairmont GXL... in this installment, we have a chat and take a tour of the car.

Rewatching this series from the begining again, hopefully it gives me the motivation to work on my XC project again.
Peter, I'm inspired by what you deem to be a candidate for restoration. I recently came into the purchase of a 1962 Sunbeam Alpine, which I found languishing in a junk yard in California. The only disappointment with regard to the body was that the passenger side floor is completely gone from rust. I almost let this find go, but, in the end, my heart yearned for the car and I came home with it -- $300, delivered to my home. Watching your videos gives me hope in this regard. Keep up the great work you are doing to save these cars from the crusher, you help a lot of us who would otherwise be discouraged by some imperfections in our projects.
Geez, you did well to get such a cleanskin - as you know, the XA-XC was a shocking rust trap. Bloody ripper!
Mate cant wait to see this progress. You say it wont be as popular as the xw videos but i personally believe people tune in because of the brilliant work you do from home and the time you take to video document everything and explain each step. Glad you started another! From an xw owner :)
Your do a fantasic job with these videos. Cant wait to see what you do with the old girl. I always had a soft spot for these XC's, When my Cortina was in the dealers workshop once, they gave me an XC Fairmont for the day. It had been a paddock basher and was looking worse for wear (early eighties), but I absolutely loved driving it around for the day.
For joy for joy for joy another project!!!!! And here's me thinking of a bleak second half of the year. Your'e style and knowledge is remarkable. I envy your students.

XC... my first car and favorite of all the classic Falcons. Regret selling it now but plan on finding one to restore in the future. You're video's will be very handy. Can't wait to see the finished product mate. Great video's.

Pete, you're a very optimistic bloke, I take my hat off to you, because to me, that car's a steaming POS. :) I wish I shared your attitude.....and had a half of your skill and knowledge.

Wow what a great find virtually rust free,I'm only a fairly new subscriber to you're channel and had a couple of falcons myself nothing special an ef and an xf, I'm absolutely stoked to see you bring these old fords back to life, can't wait to see how the xc turns out,
