As a child actor, Ron Howard never sounded like a dumb little kid reciting lines. Can we take a moment to appreciate how verbally talented he was compared to other child actors? He articulated his lines so perfectly and seemed very intelligent by the way he spoke. That verbal talent has served him well throughout his long career in the biz!

The show was about wholesome family values where caring for one another wasn't just accepted, it was expected. In today's sitcom offerings the show is also unique in that it had no political agenda. The only thing the show promoted was decency and respect.

Don Knox was extremely talented especially in that role. His daughters said he would practice nightly for hours in front of a mirror for the next day’s shoot. He didn’t quit until he perfected his facial expressions etc. What a great talent.

Grew up watching this and at 54 I am still watching it every day! I have the Andy Griffith trivia game… and can beat anyone! I know every single episode and each character. It is my all time favorite show! It’s when TV was worth watching and always had a great message and loads of laughter along the way… mixed in with a few tears at times. It was the one show our whole family loved and enjoyed together. I now have 2 grown children and they also grew up with this show… it’s truly a timeless classic. Thanks for all the laughs through the years! And being a native of NC (Charlotte) made it all the more special… All those sayings and the southern talk made it more than just a show and characters…. They seemed more like extended family! 📺🍿📽🎬🏡 🎣 🐟🔫⚖️🚔🚓👨‍✈️👨‍✈️🪕🎶💙

Every time I have read about Andy and Ron , Howard says ‘he was all business.’ Don did not quit, his contract was up and he signed a 3 picture movie deal. He stated he was flabbergasted when Andy called him back for another year! He had always told Don that they were working for 5 years only.

My sister in law hated that show because she felt it made the ppl in the south look stupid. I never felt that way and lived the little town life it portrayed. Wish life was still like that. Im from NC and if i remember correctly the show was filmed at Mt Pilot area. Aunt Bee lived in Siler City in NC and lived in the same house untill she passed. It was nothing to drive by her house, looked like any southern home in the area. A lot of towns in NC were just like Mayberry for yrs. Mainly small towns etc. Im proud to be a southerner and really do not care what other ppl think about southerners. U cannot find nicer ppl and ppl that will go out of their way to help others. A good majority of NC excluding some of the big cities r stiil the same in helping others.

"Aunt Bea" Bavier always ticked me off. She's one of these people who went from zero to famous because of one single role, then all they do is scream and protest that the role was somehow holding them back or making their lives difficult. I feel like people should shut up and be grateful for what that show or role has done for them, instead of getting a swelled head.

A little discussed concept in child psychology explores the transformation of every person pre puberty and post puberty. The personality of each of us largely disappears once puberty fully sets in. I think of it as if there is one actor playing the role of each of us from infancy to puberty, then another actor taking over the role as the post puberty person. Some traits we had in those young years carry over, but many disappear. This allows the older version of us to look back on the younger version as they would look at a sibling or person they knew in school.
