    Hi Peter, Thanks for another fine video. I would also like to thank you for telling everyone to get checks done before starting a restoration, I just checked mine last week and found out it's reported as stolen, it was just a rolling shell when I got it and I've only gathered parts for it so far but its been in my shed since 2009 and reported stolen in 2006, im not as fast as you nor have the money but kind of glad I haven't done to much as the police have been good but will most likely lose it. thanks again for the videos and the good advice.

    Always puts a smile on my face when I see that you've uploaded another video. By far the best car resto vids on TH-cam. You've inspired me to restore a classic of my own one day when I grow up. Keep up the hard work and may the countless hours pay off, as they did with the XW.. Cheers

      +Edward Pertile Thanks Edward, I'm stoked that you like them... although this one's taking a while because I keep needing to move the XW out of the way... then I continue and it turns into a long drive... Cheers Peter

    Hi Peter
    Great vids, you have a knack for explaining useful & very helpful details, we have similar tastes and enjoy doing the work ourselves. My question is for your mate Jason, I'm currently doing a xw fairmont wagon (not as nice as his) and am planning on putting rear inertia seat belts in and was wondering whats belts he used? I caught a glimpse of them in your footage..
    Also that little welder you scored I brought 1 brand new 20 years ago and the work it has done is amazing, the stories it could tell, I only replaced it last week as I wanted to be able to mig weld aluminium.
    Thanks and keep up the good work

    How do you remember all those nuts and bolts you send for electroplating ?
    Bagging and tagging etc..
    I know the obvious ones like guard bolts, bumper bracket bolts, but the rest is hard if you forget certain detail.
    It's been a long time for between drinks and I have forgotten almost all the nuts and bolts for the correct designation.
    That's why I'd want to buy a whole donor car to be able to sight the pieces and make notes and take photos.
    Back in the day we never had the convenience of digital cameras and had to rely on memory unless you're a millionaire and processed a thousand pictures at the local photo shop.

    Hi Peter, I am very interested to see how you go with your Marquis electric seat bases. I tried to fit the same to my XC GXL many years ago but found that they sat up way too high for my liking even on the lowest setting. I got sick of hitting my knees on the steering wheel so I go rid of them. Would have thought the ZH floorpan was the same but apparently not. I had a SAAS 14" steering wheel perfectly round. The GXL wheel is 16" but is flatter on the bottom so it might be OK. Other thing to consider are you need to drill two more holes for the front inner bolts as they are in a different place but the bumps are already there where you need to drill. Other thing is the seat belts slide with the seat and the buckles are different, you need the whole seat belts. You can use normal seat mounted stalks but its kind of tortuous when you move the seat right forward, anyway good luck. I have been enjoying your videos.

    • @billeves4627
      @billeves4627 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bill Eves i should have watched the whole video and paid more attention. Of course you figured out about drilling that extra hole and you did get the whole seatbelts. Let's see you go height wise. BTW the seats I had came from a $500 Marquis deceased estate: I got the engine block, 9" diff and fuel tank for my GXL. I tried to get the whole car for $800 but he stripped it, and did nothing with it....

      +Bill Eves My sills are caved in the same as yours from a hoist but I have never bothered with it just straightened the seam with multi grips. Your video has inspired me to maybe fix them, seeing as I have a MIG welder now.

    Hi, great build so far. Just wondering where you source your bundy&fittings and get the flaring done? Ive run around to the usual supercrap/autobarn/repco and none of them supply anything related to hydraulic brake systems. After some 3/16" bundy and 3/8" fittings.

    Hi Pete, I was interested to see your brother using Dynamat on his Mustang. I have used it my my daily driver (wife's actually) a Subaru Forester and it really does make a difference to the amount of road noise. I'm currently in the middle of restoring a Ford XP coupe (inspired somewhat by the work you do in your own garage). I've been tossing up wether to use Dynamat on it. I'm not sure about the long term effects i.e. Trapping moisture and causing rust. I'm guessing if the areas where it is placed has been properly rust treated with a product like Por 15 then perhaps it should be fine. Given the level of detail and expense your brother has gone to on his car I'm assuming he knows what he is doing. What are your thoughts about Using similar products? Love the vids by the way.

    Hi Peter, is there any reason you don't send the car away to get blasted before you start all your work? I would have thought you'd prefer the body and undercarriage to be all clean etc

    • @PeterAndersons
      @PeterAndersons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jason Cascone Thanks Jason and yes I would certainly prefer a cleaner media blasted shell. I like to do it all by hand and also didn't do it because of budgetary constraints. Having said that, I have almost taken all paint off the sills, plenum, all seams, the engine bay and some of the floor. I still need to finish stripping the boot floor and the lower rear quarters. As long as all areas prone to rust are in bare metal and I can see all is good then I'm fine with it. It's hard work but worth it for peace of mind. Thanks for the comments. Cheers Pete

    Can I ask where do you buy the consumables like the por 15 do you go to a specialty paint shop like protect paint or just super cheap auto ?

    • @PeterAndersons
      @PeterAndersons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dtec30 Hi, Proper automotive paint distributors ie POR15 is supplied through Body Shop in Bayswater and KBS through Milsomes in Ferntree Gully. For most paint related items I use these two suppliers. For most preparation items I reckon Body Shop and for Acrylic and enamel paints/solvents I found Milsomes. Milsomes is also far superior and cheaper than the generic Auto stores and their range is three hundred times more comprehensive. Hope this helps
