I'm like 30 hours in and I've just been frustrated not being able to find another Katana, thanks for the guide can't believe I never opened the chest by those dragon ruins
Same here , I'm a dex build I struggle to get Dex weapons like katanas and shit. I mainly pick up strength weapons and sorcery
same ...couldn't find another katana...i end up running quality build instead
Bro I just logged 204 hours now on my ng+3 and I barely found out about this katana edit: and I've fought agheel and searched that area but obviously not good enough lol
I don’t know if I’m some how speed running the game but I’m 27 hours in on my first play through and have already killed like 25 bosses and burnt down the erd tree😅

The R2 attack is literally the Ichimonji attack from Sekiro which was an amazing double hit posture damaging move. Also has very good poise break capability! It makes this blade so much cooler. Legit possible to do a Sekiro Build sorta

STRONGLY RECOMMEND
This was my main weapon and it carried me the entire game. Fully upgraded with decent numbers in STR, DEX and INT, the damage output on the MOB is close to on par with 10+ colossal weapons. Gravitas is not a great skill* but pair this sword with a good shield ability and you'll survive through most fights with ease.
Personally, I used this katana with the Jellyfish Shield, it's ability to raise damage put my output over 900 which is unreal for a fast weapon like this. The extra magic damage it deals also goes a long way against resistances as well.
*While gravitas isn't a great ability for the player, Mimic Tear can be pretty crafty with it, sometimes keeping enemies away from you - in addition to drawing agro.

I've been using this on my spellblade character and been loving it. Gravity items are so cool! I just wish the handle had a wrapping on it!

@@TheRuiPires for something along those lines you mainly want to spec into intelligence, acquire the meteorite staff for gravity spells like the rock sling (its pretty easy to get). The staff should last you early to mid game, it's extremly good for the timeline. The blade in the video scales with intellect, meaning the more points the more damage the blade will do. Eventually you'll want to get a better staff but that should help you get started if you still haven't an idea yet 🙏🏽
I use the moonveil katana and meteor staff plus the meteoric balde

Also if you are a prisoner this weapon is a life-changing one, you need to take strength up to 15 but is an incredible rewarding effort, especially if you compare this sword to the estoc

Not just samurai. Gives str/int builds a 3rd fast/non great/colossal weapon choice (other 2 being straight swords).
Halberds are a decent alternative, not to slow

Do u need to lvl both dex and int higher to make this weapon better or can u just get the dex rex and go on with my int on my mage while getting the same damage as if i lvl both ?
@@banvito3368 this is a str/int katana. Has crap scaling for dex.

the charged R2 (while two handed) is Ichimonji from sekiro! so badass
Pretty sure its good for breaking posture too
@@SenjuShima it is and since this is the dark sword counterpart of elden ring, you can bet your ass that it hits as hard as and does as much posture damage as a greatsword

Personally I would just grab gravitas ash from Lingrave for the pretty useful weapon skill and int scaling and apply it on Uchigatana or pretty much any sword. Requires you to kill an enemy though

moonveil outperforms uchigatana w/ ashes into the late game as you scale better with stats I believe

ATTENTION SAMURAI/STRENGTH BUILDS!! I recommend using the bloodhound fang because it is not only a great early game weapon but it is also a great mid-late game weapon when fully upgraded.
im from katana user switch to bloodhound! such a good weapon when combine with Magic Spell

Uchigatana with frost stamp tho...
The frost and blood is nice.
I usually proc the frozen status which staggers enemies, in turn allows me to attack more ( so doing more damage on regular hits because of frost and since bleed is attached to the uchigatana. Well it s divine.
I m glad frost status is actually good in elden ring .. in ds3 that was more a question of fashion souls😑
Tip: don't do this with a bunch of runes if you're beginning the game. As you can see, once you get the weapon from the chest you will get assaulted by everything in that room so it's best to go knowing you're going to die the moment you get it.
A trick you can do is pick up the weapon, then quit and reload the game, which resets the nearby enemies and lets you simply fast travel away.
@@MalachiLper or you can do that too. If you're a masochist I think my way is better.
@@huntr6290 I'm very familiar with going for suicide runs in games, such as dying to the ghosts in Dark Souls 1 so we can get a Firekeeper Soul like 2 minutes after we get to Firelink Shrine.
Or just running all over places I shouldn't be to grab anything not nailed down before I get squished.

I had to over level and go back with summons and beat my way in there. I kept dying when I'd try to run straight to the tunnel.
Totally worth it.
i found this one at like level 45 and I have been using it since. I make sure i have it out when I summon my mimc because its bad ass in twos.
If you're doing this as a new character, make sure you get your steed first.

Caelid is like the giant camp you run Into your first time playing skyrim you can go to them but they will clap you hard af when I saw those doggosaurus Rex things I immediately turned my ass around saved it for another day

Also a choice for strength builds to try and use since it scales more with str than dex

You can still fast travel in areas like that, there blocked but if you press triangle(ps5) while in map you can select 1 of every grace point you've unlocked

I just got dual uchigatanas yesterday both +4 they kinda op already ,i only played for 3days lvl 63 and still learning the game im a samurai looking to use magic too
Hey, same! Dual wielding +5 uchigatana at level 64 rn, doing a dex/int build. Very satisfied with the choice. Dex/int builds seem very strong, you have so many ways to fight and can deal with most enemies.

The only reason for the int is for the weapon art but if you don’t have another uchikatana this is a good replacement

Suggestion: when you're doing "Get it early" videos, Cover the stat requirements at the beginning of the video so we don't waste time on a video for a weapon we don't need, want or maybe don't have the stats for yet. Just saying, what samurai at the beginning of the game has 18 intelligence? not that this weapon is only for samurai, but, still... ya know?

If I'm already using the Nagakiba katana and I don't really plan to level up intelligence is this katana even worth getting?
I have my Nagakiba upgraded to +6 or 7 so far but I'm trying to find a katana that's better more for middle/late game.
I do like the Naga but I feel like I'm probably due for an upgrade since I've had it since level 25 or 30 and I'm now almost
level 70 in game.

how do u know what the primary scaling attribute is ? i know the lower the letter the better but do u need to lv the 2nd best attribute aswell in this case the scaling is d for both int and str,ive also seen other weapons where 3 stats are all d so not sure which one to lv im use to just leveling one stat per weapon type from other games lol plus on my end when i examine the weapon the dex scaling letter E is red color but urs is blue i have 30 dex currently so idk
it will say attribute scaling next to attribute required
It mainly scales with strength and intelligence
you failed to mentioned that it requires level 18 intelligence.
