The ONLY disadvantage of this weapon (aside from no ash of war) is how extenuating the leveling process is. If you’re a sword wield class (hero, warrior, vagabond, paladin), you’re intelligence and faith are going to be far from 24, especially in the early stages. Thus, you’ll have to manage with having poor stats relative to your class for a while before being able to use this. This being confined to a certain, say, strength, dex, or vigor cap, will keep you locked in a certain stage of the game, unable to move forward.
Lmao... are you serious? This game is broken as far as progression goes and just because you have a weapon doesnt mean its the ONLY weapon you can use. If youre leveling fth/int you can use magic...

Once again! You’ve shown me a neat trick to help make this game that much more fun and epic for me!! 😁 just when I started to get a little discouraged, and thinking I was getting nowhere! Keep the content coming!
@tagbacktv I have a lvl 63 prisoner that is a spellsword build. I have no points in faith so it is very low. I do have that item that increases faith by 5. Would it be worth it if I put all my points into faith so I can wield this sword on my prisoner? Or should I just stick to int?
Like my main character which is spellsword dex int. I have decided to use my secondary char to wield this wep! Confessor for this wep and my spellsword dex/int (moon veil sword) which is OP and scales with INT DEX! Up to you but in my case I already have 4 pre made lvl 40s ready to go suited for (specific wep builds )
you guys don't need to be so worried about your builds, at a certain point you will have enough levels to have every stat soft capped and you can freely do whatever you want. It's how all from software games work, you go through it once while focusing mostly on getting good at the game and getting your base line stats up then on new game plus you get another 100 levels to put in your magic stats and you eventually use both giant weapons and spells.
I've actually defeated the boss in this location being around 30 level and I was so mad that nothing good dropped really out of that boss, now I'm even more mad that even this sword you would suppose would drop of a boss instead of easy chest 😂
@@q-tips9984 I’m actually on that character , but that spell is not really that useful compared to basic pebble and lock animation while charging and the fact that some aggressive enemies can still dodge it etc . , it’s not bad , but if you take a look at that blade and builds around it , you can find videos where guy literally on one mana deals two aoe attacks for 1300 dmg each with 40 intel and 40 faith
That's the point, the boss is easy and everyone would run into it eventually, so it would be easier to get the sword if it was just a boss drop. But some people can miss this secret path to get this weapon. That's the thing with this game, there are weapons and armor and items hidden away, which you can possibly find if you look hard enough.
@@AsuraDandy I understand your point , but for me personally it had completely opposite effect , I’ve not enjoyed game , because I was fighting and defeating bosses and enemies only to get very mediocre weapons or items , or most items that I can’t use anyway , so at some point I was not even excited at what I can get , because best items are actually hidden around and very easy to miss, just like being a mage pebble is your start spell and even xx spells later it’s still your best spell , actually beaten by few end game ones and those few op items
I got it but I'm running pure sorcery build with moonlight greatsword ( Dark moon greatsword ) at the moment. When I finish the game I'll respec so I can use it for ng+
Great guide, got caught with lightning strikes hitting the ground first time but got my runes back and all smooth sailing from there! Thanks for the video dude!
If you run directly along the wall on the left the spell volley's come nowhere near you, and then just run along the manor wall until the site of grace and you're golden. At most you'll get tapped once on the manor wall for negligible damage.
Well its useless unless you have the stat required to wield it fully. So in the start its just a nice paper weight until you invest in those stats. For me with the moon katana need 23 in INT to get the fully potential of it. Nice tips but remember to have the right stats for it
Randomly came across this sword while I was farming to create a build and I randomly came across the manor and decided to explore it and i came across this and searched up how good it was, and well as the video explains it’s awesome. It’s amazing how I randomly decide to go off course and find something amazing.
Thanks for the video, I'm new to this game so far I was struggling but after watching some of your videos I understand the game more you have earned a new subscriber thank you
Lol. I was gonna say “I’m your bestie”. Seriously though major problem I see when I think about building toward it is you primary spells are hon a be a bit weaker if you scale the weapon due to the faith invest, same for your incantations, due to the state invest, so that leave you being a melee class largely that invest points for this weapon yo scale, that’s fine. That said it looks like it chunks the mana pretty good so you need to invest in mind a bit also (though it seems like most builds will) that doesn’t leave much for endurance. That said you’re a melee now and need more FP flasks than you’d probably like. I dunno just my thoughts. It so cool though I’m thinking about doing it anyway.
I mean if you were to do a build with this, you would want to max faith or int, but not both, leaving one of them at 24 which is the min to use this weapon. Since you would be running bare minimum strength, dex, and arcane, that shouldn’t be too much of a problem I wouldn’t think. Plus you can use some of the talismans to get extra faith or things like that to help with build flexibility.
@@trevorbye6965 it depends on the scaling when upgraded. If both of the scaling on int and fth changes you definitely wanna focus on both stats and then probably Vigor and Mind for survivability.
My husband was watching me run through the start of the manor chanting out loud “ignore the hands ignore the hands” he asked me a why I was saying that and not three seconds later I hit a dead end and turn to see a wave of giant hands coming to crush my level 12 character. He just said oh and sat quietly on my second run through. Great game
Even Dex isn't great in comparison to all the insane magic builds. It's like they shifted the game almost completely over to magic. Every time I loot anything it's a sorcerer/mage armor or weapon. Ngl since I don't enjoy playing that style looting in this game has been a massive disappointment to me so far.
I'm probably just really dumb but I'm Hella lost on 2:35 I just keep wondering the lake Cliffside trying to get back on that path but I can't seem to find the way up
Good guide, got the sword but but my I is 15 and F is10 so some runes will have to be acquired. While you're near the mine get into the mausoleum. Jump in the blue to the cliff top, jump onto the mausoleum then drop down two levels and chip away the grey limpets to make it settle.
I came here after watching you're vid on getting the 20% rune talisman . You beat them so easily cause you have this sword . NEVER KNEW . I'm trying to get this talisman to level up . So now I need to level up my INT and Faith which is low , just to get this weapon . Circles I run in .
I saw this sword in some clips online and thought, “well if I could only get that weapon!” I did not look up where the weapon was, I did not know what the required attributes were. But I found it and knew immediately I wanted it because I started as an Astrologer and then changed to Faith when I found some Faith items in the Table of the Lost Grace. I only needed a little more strength because I had leveled Dex to use a flail. Totally glad I lucked into this weapon!

Once again! You’ve shown me a neat trick to help make this game that much more fun and epic for me!! 😁 just when I started to get a little discouraged, and thinking I was getting nowhere! Keep the content coming!
A great guide tyvm so clear and steady paced, subbed
Time to level up! I just went to get this and I can't wait to use it
Love this video cuz it explains carefully what to do and helped me get the best weapon so early in the game
@tagbacktv I have a lvl 63 prisoner that is a spellsword build. I have no points in faith so it is very low. I do have that item that increases faith by 5. Would it be worth it if I put all my points into faith so I can wield this sword on my prisoner? Or should I just stick to int?
do it. its the best in slot weapon for magic build players, and the scaling is ridiculous. get your 24 faith and then pump everything into int
Bro, ty so much! Subbed
Did we just become best friends? Hahaha 😁 first time here and I'm blown away by the clearly and usefulness of your guides 💯% Subscribed.
I like the way you take us through step by step so I had to subscribe
I've actually defeated the boss in this location being around 30 level and I was so mad that nothing good dropped really out of that boss, now I'm even more mad that even this sword you would suppose would drop of a boss instead of easy chest 😂
Well u Get a good spell but im guessing u aint mage
@@q-tips9984 I’m actually on that character , but that spell is not really that useful compared to basic pebble and lock animation while charging and the fact that some aggressive enemies can still dodge it etc . , it’s not bad , but if you take a look at that blade and builds around it , you can find videos where guy literally on one mana deals two aoe attacks for 1300 dmg each with 40 intel and 40 faith
@@viliambena6767 true i only use the magic bow to snipe enemies for hefty damage
Great vid but i would have like if you did the full run to showed us where to get the maps to make a little easier but still great video
I got it but I'm running pure sorcery build with moonlight greatsword ( Dark moon greatsword ) at the moment. When I finish the game I'll respec so I can use it for ng+
You kind sir are a blessing and just earned a new fan and follower this was easy to follow and understand thank you very much
Thats such a cool sword. Even though i started with a quality build i migh get that int and faith to 24 to use that sword
You can respec in this game so it's probably worth
Great guide, got caught with lightning strikes hitting the ground first time but got my runes back and all smooth sailing from there! Thanks for the video dude!
Best guide youtube ever. Thank you for you guides and tours. Much appreciated. Keep up the great work.
Glad to help!
5:27 turn left here, and then walk to the table at the front and go behind it for a level 4 smithing stone
The giant blacksmith that is just past the false wall leading up to the manor sells somber smithing stones up to level 4
I actually needed this, thanks
Lol apparently I suck at the last parkour jump
Where is the closets grace to it ?
@@kaisersloth5524 road to **** manor, directly left of it is the giant boi
@@kaisersloth5524 it’s “Road to the Manor” grace point.
Thank you so much. This video was really really helpful and I was able to easily get the weapon that I always wanted to get.
As always Tag comes through... this was a rough run to get
If you run directly along the wall on the left the spell volley's come nowhere near you, and then just run along the manor wall until the site of grace and you're golden. At most you'll get tapped once on the manor wall for negligible damage.
Well its useless unless you have the stat required to wield it fully. So in the start its just a nice paper weight until you invest in those stats. For me with the moon katana need 23 in INT to get the fully potential of it. Nice tips but remember to have the right stats for it
Have you used the moon katana? How good is it?
While that is true, using the Dragonbarrow rune farming it'll take you all of 15 minutes to get the runes you need to match the stat reqs.
@@rogthepirate4593 hehe still a damn long grind session. One lvl is what 33k right now for me. So it will take time
Where i can find moon katana? I'm playing Samurai
@@mrthaimaster Well yeah, if you already leveled other stuff that's an issue haha
I guess this tip is most useful for a new char.
So you get this sword without fighting?
Thank you for your detailed yet straight to the point guide! Liked and Subbed!!
At 7:01 there’s actually more somber smithing stones behind the chest up behind the monument
Randomly came across this sword while I was farming to create a build and I randomly came across the manor and decided to explore it and i came across this and searched up how good it was, and well as the video explains it’s awesome. It’s amazing how I randomly decide to go off course and find something amazing.
Thanks for the video, I'm new to this game so far I was struggling but after watching some of your videos I understand the game more you have earned a new subscriber thank you
Awesome sword! Quite the game changer indeed. Thanks for the great video, appreciate it. 😀
Awesome video! Took me a while, but took that whole path. Thanks!
🙌🏾
I feel like late game it’s gonna be weak due to the scaling spread. Like pick op faith. Op int. Or meh at both.
True but you can re spec late game
My husband was watching me run through the start of the manor chanting out loud “ignore the hands ignore the hands” he asked me a why I was saying that and not three seconds later I hit a dead end and turn to see a wave of giant hands coming to crush my level 12 character. He just said oh and sat quietly on my second run through. Great game
So is strength stat just shit? Bc I swear dex plus bleed weapons are plain crazy
Even Dex isn't great in comparison to all the insane magic builds. It's like they shifted the game almost completely over to magic. Every time I loot anything it's a sorcerer/mage armor or weapon. Ngl since I don't enjoy playing that style looting in this game has been a massive disappointment to me so far.
one of the best/ most helpful videos out there THANKS A LOT
Regret my attribute choices after seeing this sword 😂 I invested all my runes into health and stamina or does this sword not use magic?
Somewhere mid game you can re roll your stats! So don’t even sweat it
Great Tutorial!!!
Behind the statue where you get the somber stone is another somber stone
Definitely helped me out alot i had trouble with clean rot knights but this sword made easy work of them thanks
just made it to that area yesterday, gonna give this a try tonite. great vid. thank you
I'm probably just really dumb but I'm Hella lost on 2:35 I just keep wondering the lake Cliffside trying to get back on that path but I can't seem to find the way up
thanks for the video. i still need to make my faith 24 but its nice to get the item in your inventory straight away
Awesome video, easy to follow thanks ❤
Good guide, got the sword but but my I is 15 and F is10 so some runes will have to be acquired. While you're near the mine get into the mausoleum. Jump in the blue to the cliff top, jump onto the mausoleum then drop down two levels and chip away the grey limpets to make it settle.
Amazing guide to get the sword. Thankyou 👍
Thank you very much. This video helped really good
Thanks needed all this info!
Thanks for baby sitting me this entire way🥺😭👌🏻 appreciate the details and story telling guides :p
I came here after watching you're vid on getting the 20% rune talisman . You beat them so easily cause you have this sword . NEVER KNEW . I'm trying to get this talisman to level up . So now I need to level up my INT and Faith which is low , just to get this weapon . Circles I run in .
At 2:30 you said it was pretty self explanatory but it’s not because how do you get there if you don’t have the map
You sir, just got a new subscriber. Fantastic vid, thanks.
I saw this sword in some clips online and thought, “well if I could only get that weapon!”
I did not look up where the weapon was, I did not know what the required attributes were.
But I found it and knew immediately I wanted it because I started as an Astrologer and then changed to Faith when I found some Faith items in the Table of the Lost Grace.
I only needed a little more strength because I had leveled Dex to use a flail. Totally glad I lucked into this weapon!
Nice video, you can loot a level 3 smithing stone behind the statue where you looted the first stone on the cave!
Such a helpful video thanks man!
In the cave behind the chest you get the first somber smithing stone. If you jump behind the statue there's another somber smithing stone
You can also buy somber smithing stones 1-4 from the giant blacksmith near the site of grace you teleported to after getting the sord
Very well explained for newbies!
gonna get this later tonight and i really hope this helps me beat the godskin duo finally
theres a statue behind the chest where you get the first somber smithing stone. if u climb up and behind it u can get another somber smithing stone [3]
Appreciate the video my guy
When I went through the broken bridge there was a white wall blocking my path. And idea what that is?
It took 1 second to subscribe.
Tag: "Well hello"
My brain: That's good enough for me, chief.
In that mining tunnel right where you opened the chest if you jump up and go behind the statue there is somber smithing stone there i believe it is a somber smithing stone 3.
I have a faith sword called the coder or something I haven’t seen it anywhere on TH-cam and I forgot where I got it but it has the elden ring symbols as the sword part it looks amazing
Its in the roundhold table area. Its in a room next to the arena you can jump down to.
I’ve always jumped around the corner at the giant blacksmith I didn’t know that wall was fake.
