Yep since day 1 with my 2017 as well. There is no fixing it despite what people might say about tunes, shifter, bushings, etc. I got to drive a stock sti and the next day i went to negotiate a trade for one.
I love my wrx ,def get the stage 1 tune it turns the car into a whole diff beast the way it should've have come from factory .Im glad someone actually brought up the stock suspension .Its perfect imo sporty and slightly stiff yet comfy enough for daily use which i do .Great vid man ! #subigang #vapeingsaveslives
chigasaki06 no if anything it makes the engine run more efficiently .You can actually get better fuel economy after a tune . Yes it can affect your warranty technically but it all depends what goes wrong .You can also go back to the stock tune before you bring it back for servicing
No clue why the UK never got this WRX. Just some STI model's. Considering Prodrive lives here and we're some of biggest Subaru fan's around it really felt like a kick in the teeth.

Just because it's all wheel drive doesn't mean you can ignore that, I didn't like the stock tires when it was below 60 degrees and wet outside. I have a set of Michelin x ice 3s and it plows throw snow without an issue
I run Bridgestone Blizzaks in the winter on the ASA wheels offered as a winter option on the 04-05 STI. made the mistake of taking my '17 out on the stock dunlops a few winters ago and they are trash in snow. you can easily find a used set that will fit for cheap.
Yes. You are wise to wait a couple years for Subaru to work out the bugs. If i trade up my 18 wrx im going straight for sti. Its rumored to be getting 400hp and 361 tq. If not and it's ugly im swapping the sti transmission into my wrx.

I got my white 2017 wrx premium with 38k mi for 25k out the door in 2022. It is a 1 owner bone stock from a family of 4 that outgrew vehicle I love this thing. Paid off 2 yr later sitting at 75k mi. Love this thing but the sound system is BEYOND dogpiss tho
In general it's a pain to shift this car from 1st to 2nd. Nothing to do with being a new or experienced driver. There's a ton of threads on this so I wouldn't be too down about not shifting smoothly
I know this is a little late, but I just installed a Perrin Shift stop that I got off Subispeed and it actually helps with my shifting. It removed the "wiggle" when in first and second and in my opinion helped alot.
If you want a family road trip hauler buy a Outback. If you want daily Rallye car buy a WRX! I love both. I have the Outback Premium. When it's paid off , WRX is on the list
I love my wrx especially living in New Hampshire I have the same exhaust all though the tone is a tad deeper in mine cause I run the killer b equal length headers...I can’t wait to fix the clutch master cylinder so I can get it back on the road
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a 2020 WRX Limited with MSRP of $37k, just trying to work out a deal. However, after watching dozens of reviews and test drive videos, a few of the same issues keep coming up... that unrefined shift from 1st to 2nd and the annoying rev hang are the big ones. I'm not planning to tune the car because long term reliability is far more important (to me) than a little more power/torque, so I will have to live with these issues if I buy the car, but I've always wanted a WRX and being that 2020 is the end of this gen's life cycle, it's the perfect time to get a nice deal and a reliable car that's had all the kinks worked out.
@@jesusisking1-v6v I purchased a 2020 Limited last week, MSRP was $36,963 and I paid $33,600 which is almost 10% off. I'm definitely happy with that! Also, Subaru must have addressed the rev have for 2020 because I don't seem to have that issue. The 1 to 2 to 3 shifts are a bit rough, but it's getting smoother as I learn to finesse the clutch better.
@@dlg5485 I got a 2020 Premium about a month ago... been ill so I JUST finished the break-in period. I also drove a used one in my test drive. The used one was 2018, stock. My personal opinion is the rev hang issue is slightly exaggerated. It takes like a minute to get used to the shifter. (FYI I also currently suffer from left leg peroneal nerve palsy... so that should make things a MAJOR bugger... it doesn't.) I decided to get the WRX (regular, no performance pack) vs STI because (a) although I LOVE the go-fast bits in the STI, the brakes and tires cost a fortune to replace... and in the WRX they are cheap, and (b) I can get a nice set of steelies with winter tyres on em, (c) cloth seats, and (d) honestly the fuel economy is night and day... I love cars as much as the next mofo, but come on... Mad respect for any decision folks make about their cars, but that's my take. Red WRX. Named it Axel (after the shoes of the character in Streets of Rage 2). Yes it falls asleep after 5000 RPM... but UP to 5000 RPM hahahha nice.

I like the CVT a lot better in my 2018 WRX. I got tired of daily manual transmission in my previous cars.. manual transmission Gets to be a major annoyance if you like to just enjoy driving a fun car. OR if you are in traffic. Btw, I think the Subie manual transmission is the most jerky clutch Ive ever driven. Impossible to drive smooth & Ive driven million miles in manual.
How would you describe the ride quality of the car in terms of suspensions and going over bumps/rough roads, assuming they are still in stock suspensions.
It’s essentially a sports car, you feel every bump and rock on the road. It’s not meant to be a smooth ride. It’s meant to stay flat while cornering hard. If you want a comfy ride get a non sports car.

Get a short throw shifter installed and if you have the money for it get a stage 1+ cobb tune. youll spend like 900 but its worth it

I just don’t floor it lol. Is full bolts on and E85, that’s about it. The car does around 22-25MPG
