I kind of just "dislike" it now. You see, there are helpful real buttons to control temperature and defrost and two knobs for volume and tuning. Plus I can "pin" the more detailed climate control panel on the bottom of the screen so it's always at the ready. My mother-in-law's Crosstrek has the previous gen set up with big knobs and more physical controls, and I generally prefer that (having a large screen for a map display is nice though) style, but the giant screen is not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
If the WRX tS ends up at $45,000, this trim will be DOA once it arrives on showroom floors and dealership lots. You got the mid-cycle refresh Elantra N for $10,000 less and more performance. You got the GR Corolla while smaller in size gives you more performance, but you gotta be careful you don't go over 85 MPH and the car catches fire. You got the MK8.5 Golf R, but you can no longer get a manual transmission in the refreshed Golf R. There is no Jetta GLR/GRI (no R version of the Jetta). You got the FL5 Civic Type R, but you still can't find one at MSRP without additional dealer markup. Lastly, you got the Integra Type S while it is more in price, you get the most performance and niceties for your money. $45,000 was the VA gen WRX STI Limited money. Subaru will have to give in when they see the VB WRX tS still not being what the community asks for. Their last hope is bringing the WRX STI back. They don't have no choice if they want a next gen WRX to exist in the direction they want to go with it being hybrid or electric or both, but right now it's not the time for either of those right now. Subaru needs to take a risk and get the STI team back to enhance the FA24 or spend the money and go to Porsche and get the 2.5 Flat Four Boxer Engine that was in the Porsche 718 Boxster and use that engine for a VB WRX STI. It made 350hp and 309lb-ft of tq. That would/will be more than enough performance punch for a VB gen WRX STI.
The FA24 easily gets to 350 hp crank with just a tune. They undertuned the engine by a tune. The problem is it desperately needs the STI gearbox and AWD system.

Now if we could get the MCM "STi" version...that's a different story!
I have mentioned in another video as well that Subaru rates the VB generation WRX hp at the wheels instead of the crank. So that 270hp is indeed closer to 300 at the crank. The low peak torque (2k rpm) also means you get a nice power band. I think they should've just rated the HP at the crank - bit of a blunder by Subaru for this gen WRX.

Problem is its so slow where the AWD isnt making a massive difference. Something like an Elantra N would demolish the WRX on every track. Even in slightly suboptimal conditons like a damp road. Now of its raining hard or snow the WRX will shine but otherwise i see no use for this car. Still has worse performance than its key competitors and costs a fortune. You're better off getting a base WRX and adding the most you want. These cars have discounts on them too.
I have both, i30N in auto and manual 24WRX TR equivalent. Both stock. N is quite a fun hatch, great at lights and love its exhaust. Tracked both and hands down the WRX was better. But hate its first gear, the more I drive the more I am loving the WRX. Not a totally fair comparison given one is auto and the other manual. Both great cars.

Plus the upcoming automatic GR corolla will be a huge disappointment because Toyotas not known for well geared gearboxes. VW Honda Hyundai ZF have Toyota beat badly in that regard.
Nah the WRX is clearly a step below. Significantly slower in a straight line and around tracks. It's AWD system isn't even that useful given the lack of power. It should be below the Type R and Elantra N maybe equal with the GR but above the ST obviously. ST is more online with a Si or Nline or forte GT even though it has a larger motor. they should have leave the TR as the top trim for the WRX. the TR is the best WRX, none STI version ever made. the ride\handling balance is spot on, steering feedback is great without being over boosted. the Ts looks like and overdone job. the adaptive suspension and "SI Drive" has too many options, no real driver wants or needs to mess around every time he enters the car. not the mention high repair costs. another poor decision made by Subaru marketing team. the TR is the Last real enthusiast WRX.

These cars are getting hilarious. Every year they come out with some new more expensive "trim" that has yet to improve engine performance. Meanwhile a 2018 Mustang Ecoboost is still blowing all these cars out of the water from interior, to exterior, to performance and it came out 5+ years ago. Just get an Ecoboost and be better for cheaper
Too many plastics…lol
Problem is its so slow where the AWD isnt making a massive difference. Something like an Elantra N would demolish the WRX on every track. Even in slightly suboptimal conditons like a damp road. Now of its raining hard or snow the WRX will shine but otherwise i see no use for this car. Still has worse performance than its key competitors and costs a fortune. You're better off getting a base WRX and adding the most you want. These cars have discounts on them too.
Cobb tune costs $700 and will obliterate an EN.
Both great cars.
i would like to see a comparison of the wrx, golf r and gr corolla on a rally course. after all they are built as rally vehicles with all wheel drive. the wrx doesn't compete with standard track cars imo.
Sup, Nick? 😏
Here’s where I rank this
1. Golf R
2. CTR / EN / WRX
3. Focus RS
4. Focus ST
5. GR corolla
Interesting ranking. What makes you put the GR Corolla at the bottom of your rankings?
@@Imjustacarguy the corolla is cramped, poorly made, cheap materials everywhere, fit finish and build quality that make GM and Tesla look better, dated tech, useless backseats, small trunk, and it’s just nowhere near as refined or as polished as the CTR EN or Golf R
Not to mention it’s overpriced. Plus the upcoming automatic GR corolla will be a huge disappointment because Toyotas not known for well geared gearboxes. VW Honda Hyundai ZF have Toyota beat badly in that regard.
So you’re putting two discontinued Fords over the GR Corolla? Come on man
@@MisakiLeasim the focus ST and RS at least are roomy and they’re more fun.
Something like a Focus RS would be above the WRX VB and equal to the Elantra N and Type R IMO
they should have leave the TR as the top trim for the WRX.
the TR is the best WRX, none STI version ever made.
the ride\handling balance is spot on, steering feedback is great without being over boosted.
the Ts looks like and overdone job. the adaptive suspension and "SI Drive" has too many options, no real driver wants or needs to mess around every time he enters the car. not the mention high repair costs.
another poor decision made by Subaru marketing team.
the TR is the Last real enthusiast WRX.
ANDROID OTTERS
Wouldn't mind having one as part of our stable...also I'm 5'11 and my baby's rear facing seat fits behind me totally fine in our GR Corolla 🤷♂️

@BrayZap if the Mustang had rear doors and 4 cyl turbo without reliability problems I would consider it, thanks!
@@BrayZap oh also new 4 cyl mustang can't be paired with a manual this is why we got a GR Corolla
@@kenkozawa9810 you're just copy and pasting that from Google, it's fake bs that's made up and people are running with it since they have nothing else to ding the mustang for. It's not unreliable at all, plenty of people have no issues with theirs. Same could be said about any car. The s550 still comes with the a manual, the new 2024+ I don't like at all and wouldn't buy a new mustang only the last gen
@@BrayZap you have a lot to learn in life. Good luck!
