The buttons on the steering wheel being more numerous on the left side is probably due to the fact that your right hand is going to be on the shifter more often.

Martin Donohue base model cars often have cutouts for buttons that different trims have but just have little caps so that’s kinda irrelevant

I made a POV video on a 2017 WRX. I like the way it drives, only annoying thing is that it feels underpowered under 3000rpm. For normal driving in town it doesn't feel that exciting until its revved over 3000rpms. Still a very cool car !

Matt, it's been 3 years since the 2015 came out in late 2014, you have to request a 2018 WRX (CVT) but put it in manual mode, Sport mode (not Sport #) and use the paddle shifters to shift. It will be a blast, you should really like it. I have a 2015 WRX CVT with a COBB tune and use it exclusively in manual mode. - it's a hell of a lot of fun

Hey Matt, watching the video and when you are commenting about the large cubby under the HVAC controls (6:12) it looks like there might be a slot to the left of the power outlet. Maybe a USB jack? Probably can't see it from where you sit in the driver's seat....

I recently got my 2020 Limited and I really love the car so far. Mine also has the STI short shifter which is essential to really get the most enjoyment from this car, although the throws could be a bit shorter. I am truly impressed by the performance of this car for the great price, and the handling and exhaust are fantastic. I'm even impressed with the fuel economy which has been around 30 MPG in mostly highway driving. I highly recommend the car!
Also, I totally agree that the accessory arm rest extension is cheapo plastic trash...and the release button on it rattles while I'm driving, which is annoying as hell. The problem is that the regular arm rest is too low without the extension, so I definitely need it. I just wish it was better quality. Fun fact: that crappy arm rest extension is $160! I agree about the brakes too. The pedal is definitely softer than I expected. I don't agree about throttle response or turbo lag. I don't feel any delay at all.

Hey Matt... Im from Ohio, and as we are talking My Mustang Super Snake and Im going to pick up my New Stang... The Saleen 302 Black Label... its pushing 730 horsepower from the factory and I want you to review it while it is stock. Im going to pick it up in like 1 month, so you I'll try to contact you when I get it.
Also why I was at Saleen, they let me test drive one of their Black Labels... Its definetly a Beast.

The owner Matt has this WRX. This Matt is reviewing it today. This is why it was "subaruwrxfan" in the first place, but because you like cars other than that like Mustangs like yours or 911s like Nick Murray's of which I'm dying for a review for, I kind of understand the name change. Nice vid, though. 🙂

  • @drewhil23
    @drewhil23 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Looking at getting a 2016 wrx limited, only worried being a more sporty car is that the previous owner or owners have beat the shit out of it. One I'm looking at now is at Nissan dealer and it says has a Cobb tunning which definitely worried that the previous tried to and did modify the car. What are some things I should look for or should I just stay away from used wrx all together?

I disagree with the clutch. I have a '18 and when i went to the subaru dealer, the '18's didn't arrive yet so i test drove a '15. That car was much MUCH easier to drive. I am not sure if the car was modified but it did have aftermarket wheels so maybe it was an employee car (it had regular plates, not dealer plates), or it was a recent trade in. But i got in that car and drove it like it was mine for years. The salesman even complimented how good i was driving a car i never drove before.
I got my '18 and instantly stalled it leaving the parking spot (although the lot was on an incline).
And even to this day, almost 5 months later, the car still isn't smooth. The rev hang is annoying (the '15 test car didn't have rev hang). So the transition in shifts isn't smooth.
I haven't stalled it since the night i picked it up but it's hard to drive this car smooth. The only way to drive it smooth, is to drive it hard lol.

Hey guys I recently got in my friends '18 wrx to run through the gears. That shifter felt like absolute butter. I have a 2011 wrx with a cobb short throw shifter with front and rear bushings in it and it's not even close to being as smooth and crisp as the 2018. I was wondering if I'd be able to take 2018 shifter and put in my 2011 or if anyone can suggest a smoother shifter than the Cobb short throw.

Road noise still sounds loud, even taking into account that after market exhaust.

You'll be presently surprised with the CVT in the WRX. Try to get a drive in one and keep an open mind.

Is the STI short throw shifter already included in the limited 2018 WRX or do you have to get it separately?

Because people would buy this instead. I know I would have. I'd dropped It and put 18s immediately.

The purpose they use plastic is to reduce weight. Many people who really don't know what the purpose of the car gives an opinion by just a sight without thoughts. Also, it is always true that people who are not willing to pay, they ask more. If Subaru and other Japanese makers spend more budget to design the cars, they would be much better than most cars. It is too easy to use fancy material and let customers pay them. You spend a lot and breakdown soon. Sounds like some car companies. But that is not the way to handle business in Japanese companies in my experience.

    Mat, most important it is
how is the dynamics of the car
I truly don't care for either plastic or metal on the steering wheel
Can you drive the car hard in bad whether? vs Type R
how is the seat height vs Type R
does the car feel like one or every part is running different agenda
