I could call them idiots too, but I realised my dad does it too. While I’m also in the car.
I drive 8-12 hours a day and am constantly switching from my work app to gps to text to snap to TH-cam to Google etc. There's a way to do it and not be a dip shit but seeing as many people struggle with driving as it is we can't allow it I guess.
That's like saying there's a way to drive drunk and not hit people. I mean, sure, there may be a way, but it's just strictly speaking less safe. Even if you're *really* good at being drunk.
Reasons why I dont drink and always the designated driver for when my friends go batshit drunk.
Belly flopping into a pool. Most people think It's water, it's soft. Not at 40 miles an hour it's like cement!

Well I doubt you will reach 40mph or anything past 5mph (I use km so im talking shit) but if you bellyflop from the edge of the pool the worst thing that can happen is pain and water up your nose

Buddy of mine drowned in a quarry minutes after asking his girlfriend to marry him. She said yes, and he jumped in the water because he was happy, got sucked under by a current , and didnt come back up. At first, she thought it was a bad joke. After a few minutes she freaked out, and had to find her way back out of the abandoned quarry alone and find help.

Hmm, that Peppa Pig example is one of the very rare occasions I can approve of a ban. Teaching children in Australia that spiders are not to be feared as a threat could have very tragic consequences.
But they *are* nothing to fear. Respect? Yes. Be logical? Yes. But fear? Hell No. Even a tarantula won't bite if it doesn't feel threatened.

i must reiterate the one about shoving people into bodies of water. panic is a thing, and if they breath in water on their way down they're in trouble.

i also want to add "breath holding competitions" . besides just the risk of breathing in water, if you do these contests in rapid succession you increase the odds of passing out or inhaling water

I cant swim. I Went to a few swimming Lessons as a kid, But really really didnt Like the instructors (they weren't abusive or anything, Just assholes) and the Other Kids there we're Always annoying and irritating.
I dont Like swimming, i dont Need to swim.
Im a photographer in a tour that includes swimming and have seen this very often, even with a lifejacket/floatie when a person panics they will sink and start inhaling water.

10:24 - Yes, be VERY careful around ladders. I used to work at a certain Mart that sold Walls, and they had a 30' ladder with a broken leg, and despite me reporting it repeatedly, they still insisted that I should climb to the very top to reach the modular shelving they stored way up high. I, of course, refused, _repeatedly,_ and it made management so upset that they started targeting me with a bunch of stupid crap to try and make me quit. I eventually did (being written up due to not standing out in a freak blizzard in a T-shirt and shorts was the final straw; the store manager and I had a screaming match in the middle of the store), and less than a week after I left, one of my coworkers fell off the top of that 30' ladder and cracked his head on concrete. He was training to get his pilot's license because his lifelong dream was to fly, but now he has frequent seizures, and so he can't. They stole his dream from him because they ignored me. They got away with it, too.
Wam Salton would be so ashamed of what all his hard work has become.

My teacher told me that the red streaks coming from a hand wound we're 'fine' and that I was trying to get out of school. Assistant teacher told her off, sent me home, and yelled at the teacher. I'm alright now. I had almost died.

@@gunterhunter9943 If you ever have a wound and start to see red lines (under your skin, not on the surface) coming from the wound, it's an indication of a serious lymphatic infection. You should go to the ER immediately because it can be fatal in a very short period of time. Happened to my uncle one time, he had gotten a cut on his foot from jet skiing in dirty water. He hit a log that cut his foot up. In only a few days there was a red line going up his leg all the way up the inside of his thigh. The dr. told him he was very lucky, if it reached his heart he would have been dead in a day or so.

@@xeokym223 I was indeed brought to the ER. they said it was a bad infection- pulled my mum aside to talk, and they gave me pills. That teacher did not get in trouble, but she was very angry towards me the rest of the school year. I cant remember what else happened- I think I was twelve and wasnt medicated for ADD.
Don't declaw. Cat scratches are so much less worrying than cat bites. But ALWAYS wash them out immediately.

Something I learned the hard way when I was a little kid with my babysister that still gives me nightmares. Anywhere in your house, apartment, etc you will walk while carrying a baby, never ever put anything in your path that will make it difficult to walk, or that you could possibly trip over; and if you do have to, you don't attempt to carry the baby through until it's been moved.

you just reminded me of somethning. I love watching ER and A/E shows and there was one where the mum was carrying her baby down a spiral staircase. tripped, and basically launched the child from her arm and through a window on the 2nd floor. So the baby (1yr'ish) landed outside full of broken bones and glass. I am pretty good at watching injuries in those shows (as I know it will be ok most of the time), but that one was really rough. Especially as the bed the ambulance use is meant for adults, so it was just this tiny little human on that massive stretcher with all the nurses basically recoiling.
On a lighter not I was carrying a dog, and manged to stab myself in the side by walking into a door handle. And my immediate reaction was to throw the dog so I didn't fall on her. Luckily threw her on the bed right next to us, but took many weeks for her to forgive me.

Let them have stick fights, whittle wood with pen knives, light fires, go fishing by the river, do jumps and tricks on their bicycles or rollerblades, climb trees, balance walk along walls. This is all normal kid stuff
Then again no you probably raise your kid to watch tv because its the only thing that keeps them quiet apart from food. Big fat kids with no social skills or experience outside of the inside walls of your home. Probably cant even ride a bike
Going Hiking, as someone who hikes often through the many trails near where I live, you can trust me on this.
Most of the time, it's just harmless nature walking, you get to see birds, squirrels, and the occasional garder snake or two. But in one specific trail I like to go through there is wolfs, I had never saw one until last winter where while I was walking through it, I saw one in-between the trees, I got the hell out of there, a hungry wolf is not something you want to see. That also transitions greatly into my next topic, Winter, if you are going through a forest trail during winter, watch out for ice patches, or super snowy patches, falling off one of those things can be dangerous, especially if near a sheer surface. One last thing, don't go out if you know, think, or have a suspicion that rain is coming, if you get trapped on a forest trail during a rainstorm, a landslide could occur, which would lead to a most likely slow and painful death.

Not to mention the most common sense hiking thing that most people don't listen to. If you're not familiar with the area. DON'T GO OFF THE TRAIL! So many people go missing while hiking and it's really sad cause it can be completely avoided if you just stay on the trail. Not to mention there's plenty of dangers that even completely experienced hikers could be done in by if they stumble upon them off-trail. Ravines, cliffs, sinkholes, traps, etc.
DO NOT run away from wolves, stand your ground and DO NOT make any eye contact, if it is not going away, make your self as big as possible, if it were to attack anyway, attack at its eyes and nose sensitive places

They don't have to be. The point is that if you run into them, intentional or by accident, your life is in danger, especially if the spiders are venomous.
Exactly and just because they’re dangerous doesn’t mean they’re bad. It doesn’t mean they’re evil creatures who only want to harm and kill. They’re wild animals. They will see you as either prey or a threat most of the time. And a whole lot of them react to that with violence and aggression. It doesn’t mean they’re bad, it means that you don’t seem safe to them or they see you as food which again doesn’t make them bad. Nobody has any issue with dangerous animals killing other animals for food, they only see you as another animal to eat. They do not care about if you are fully sapient or not food is food to them.
This includes pets.
A pet is ultimately a wild animal that has been conditioned to function better around a specific human or humans in general.
A domesticated dog will still bite and KILL anything it thinks it needs to.
A cat, while small, will not hesitate to harm others to protect itself.
A parrot, domesticated or not, will bite off your damn nose and claw out your eyes if it has had enough of your insults because believe me, they KNOW what a insult is.
And no matter what anyone else says reptiles do not form any kind of familial bond or ever domesticate in the way a mammal would.
Reptiles are not physically capable of making those kinds of bonds, their brains are wired differently in that regard.
Gambling. The things you'll find yourself doing for money when you blow all your cash will be. I've seen too many people ruin their lives through it.

I've been in the hospital twice for cat bites. One was a neighbours house cat that got out. He broke bones in my right hand and swelled up in 2 hours. Then our cat got out at night. I found him but i shined the flashlight on him. I didn't realize he couldn't tell it was me. He went crazy when i grabbed him and tore up my left hand. He split the bones in 3 finger. I had to have stitches. Both time i ended up and antibiotics for 2 weeks.
My dad used to have a cat he really loved and it got lost someone found the cat he went to go pick it up, it bit him and he went to the hospital for a week
Also turns out it wasn’t his cat

I work at a farm and one of the ladies who drives the tractors had her thumb almost completely blown off after she put it on a hole in one of the lines connected to the tractor also saw a dude die he was standing on the hay spikes which was attached to a bob cat they went through a ditch and he fell under the spike and got crushed when I got there he wasn’t breathing so I tried cpr first time I pushed my hands down I knew he was gone his whole chest cavity was crushed it felt like I was pushing down on chunky mashed potatoes glad I’m not working there that was a lot for 16 year old me

Demanding somebody is paying attention to what you're saying to them more than their driving while you're both in the car heading somewhere. Driving involves multiple human motor and cognitive skills, that always involves the use of their eyes, to do it safely so it's best to not distract them.
If the driver isn't giving their complete undivided attention to you talking smack about Brenda or Bryan, it's not because they're ignoring you and refuse to acknowledge your existence. They're doing something that requires a significant amount of their attention to make sure neither one of you or someone else gets hurt.
It's you having insecurities you feel entitled to others alleviating for you and completely lacking in self awareness or you'd see how dangerous distracting a driver while the car's still in motion is
It's why I don't allow my mother in my car with me anymore. She always pulled the "look at me" bs while incessantly bitching at me when I needed to keep my eyes on the road because I was driving. Then had the gall to blame me for driving distracted if I almost messed up when her demands for my attention would get to so bad she'd start yelling, screaming and guilt tripping me for darig to ignore my own mother. Some people are just too dangerous to have as passengers because their toxic attachment to your attention somehow takes precedence over everything else.

I rear-ended another car once because my mother was talking and distracted me. Fortunately, it was at something like 3Mph/5Kph so no damage was done to either car, but she wisely shut up after that incident.

Speaking of springs, there was an idiot guy I knew in Army who repaired Humvees. He was assigned to replace rear shocks and incorrectly released an old shock causing the spring to shoot off and decapitated the guy.
I wonder what happened to his trainer.
We had a front shock explode in front of us one time, all three of us were leaning over it, it's an honest to God miracle we lived

Advice you read on the internet, never take it at face value, like drilling screws into your car tires instead of getting snow tires, doing that not only will pop your tires but won't prevent you skidding off the road.
They actually make studded tires for vehicles in areas that have a lot of snowfall

And with the right chemicals, almost everything will explode. Eg: Chlorine Triflouride. I was reminded of it because of the person in the video talking about computer chips. Chlorine Triflouride is used to clean the vapor deposition chambers used in microchip manufacturing, because it reacts with almost everything apart from its own oxides so it makes a great cleaner for burning away dust particles inside the chambers.
The containers used to hold it have to be especially treated with Chlorine Triflouride gas in order to build up an oxide layer so that the chemical will no longer react with the metal.
When Chlorine Triflouride reacts with some substances, such as cement flooring, it breaks down into gasses which are both toxic and corrosive or, to put it another way, the by-products are at least as bad as the substance itself.
Oh... and it's "explosively hypergolic" with water. Which basically means that it makes water spontaneously combust - I.E. burst into flame - so rapidly that it's effectively an explosion.
It is strange to me how people make fun of you for taking care, and then people die of it, and then new people roll around and make fun of you again.

They are mainly really good, awesome people. Just because you only hear about the psychos doesn't mean they're all psychos.
Time stamp 0:20 is spot on. A young friend of mine ended up spending years behind bars because he was around some idiot friends when they killed someone. He refused to cooperate with police because he didn't want to be a rat. The stress on his mother dealing with legal issues, visitation, etc. led to her premature death.
Which is a good testament of how things are very nuanced. Snitches get stitches, but sometimes it's just the right thing to do...while getting stitches.

One of the saddest stories I heard was this guy who went to Yellowstone with his dog. He let it off leash and the dog went barreling into one of those pools and the guy went right in after him. Keep your dogs on the leash guys.
This one might be a little obscure but always ALWAYS properly clean your workpiece before welding. Avoid galvanized stuff, but if you absolutely have to weld on galvie, grind off all the zinc in the general area of the weld. If you don’t it creates zinc oxide and other dangerous compounds that make you really sick. And something else super important: never use brake cleaner or anything like that to clean a workpiece because if you do it can combine with arc chemicals and make phosgene and stuff like that. Nasty stuff
Yeah, anytime you weld galvanized material, be in a full face fresh air setup. And make sure you're in a well ventilated area as well. Galvanized metal is a serious hazard if not prepared properly.
I used to work in a welding shop that was in an old diesel garage and that’s when I learned the hard way to properly clean everything all the time lol

Speaking of trampolines, I once had a dream where I hit the side of the trampoline with my shoulder. That woke me up, and I noticed the corresponding arm was completely inert due to poor circulation. Fortunately that was quickly remedied with no lasting harm.
Happens to me sometimes. Sometimes when I wake up, the arm is completely paralyzed and ice cold. The first time it happened I picked it up intrigued and held it in front of my face, but when I let go it dropped on my face so hard it busted my nose. Btw, in the 3 or 4 minutes of rubbing that it takes to get blood flowing like normal, it's the worst pins and needles sensation ever
Just a rule of thumb: it takes about 12 hours of a muscle having no blood flow before permanent damage starts.
Dude I spent 2 weeks in jail once, because the bed was so hard and i was basically sleeping on metal and my arm ended up under me.. It went numb... I woke up in the middle of the night and my arm was completely dead. I couldnt even wiggle a finger or anything.. I mean it was DEAD. I fucking thought i had a stroke or something and panicked ... Freaked me out.. Was liike 2 minutes before it felt proper again

I've woken with paralysed arm like 2 or 3 times and I was really scared the first time. It was probably because of some pressure on a nerve, beause it didn't change color so I don't think it was blood circulation issue.
Farmer here: we have three steers and have recently come into a bison in our fenced pasture on our property. Two sides of this pasture line the intersection we reside on, and numerous cars choose to slow down or stop on the side of the road to get a good look. Three times in my life, my family has had to get people (and/or their children) out of the pasture and back into their cars because they went in when we weren't looking. It's one of the only things that'll make my mother swear in front of her children, and the only thing that'll get me to raise my voice so the next county over can hear me shouting. Stay away from any big livestock; they don't know you and even if they do they get angry fast.
i grew up on a farm, and work on my grandparents, thankfully theyre jerseys so theyre not too crazy, but ive heard stories, like once my great grandma was doing something or another with a bull with some family, if i remember it kicked her, or rammed her chest, broke some ribs, someone had to take a 2x4 and hit it in the head and kill it to keep it from causing any more damage to her, worst part is knowing my families history with livestock it was probably a beautiful bull
When I was out west working at a national park, a Japanese family sadly lost their 3 year old to a bison “accident”; they approached the bull like they were in a theme park, propped their toddler on its back and stepped back a few paces to take advantage of a photo op with their kid atop a Buffalo 🦬…. Sadly the child’s neck was broken (almost decapitated by the bull) and the mother was gored trying to rescue her son (she lived, they were both injured). Sad, preventable situation. Some people just assume because it’s a park the animals should be tame or something!!?
Out of curiosity, are you on the edge of a rural area such that city people pass by often? I feel like that is really obvious to a vast majority of rural people that grew up on farms.

My brother one pointed a fly gun loaded with salt at my face. I told him to stop it. His response: "don't worry. It's not loaded." Then it went off in my face. I got angry and told him to never point a gun at someone unless you intended to shoot.
Sleep deprivation.... motorists falling asleep on the road is terrifying and if you go long enough without sleep, for some, you will see, hear, and hallucinate some scary shit which can lead you do something unthinkable, it happens to insomniacs and meth heads
Acid tablets. They can open your mind and you have a good time, but the bad trips are the exact opposite
I don't really care about recreational drugs, but I know damn well I shouldn't every try them because my mental health is very sensitive. If you experience psychosis or are generally in a bad mental state, don't.

I heard people say that there are no bad trips, just challenging ones. Are you suggesting that a bad acid trip can set you back in open mindedness? I can't even conseve how that would happen. Maybe that's just because I've only had good trips

@@XtheEntX it's not inherently the trip itself, it's what it could cause. It could trigger an episode or lead to a spiral, and that's not good. Plus, I've already been through hell with regular psychosis, I don't want to experience that again. More for y'all lmao

For the garage springs one, ours has broke twice (different sides of the same door) and my dad has fixed them both. He isn't garage person, but he knows how to fix them and the dangers of not knowing what you're doing, so when it happened we double checked that we did/set everything up right so the spring wouldn't harm us.
I realised it's also the tool you use. Dont just try using a long piece of rebar.. like me and a friend did 🤣🤣🤣 we are lucky

20:29. My dad's friend was cleaning his "unloaded" gun, a 9mm berretta, when he had the barrel resting on his knee and he pulled the slide back. The slide slipped and he found out, a little too late, that the gun was, in fact, very much loaded. The resulting discharge took out a good chunk of his calf, which is still missing to this day. Thankfully, he recovered and can still walk without the need for any kind of support.
He now teaches gun safety in his spare time and will gladly show you what happens when you treat a gun as "unloaded".

The drains in swimming pools, spas, hot tubs, and water parks. They may not seem that dangerous but there is a very powerful pump connected to those drains that is sucking water in from the bottom/ walls of the pool to recirculate and filter the water as well as move water to water slides and other water attractions. The older style drain covers are flat and if a person gets too close to it they can seal the drain with their body and be held to the bottom of the pool and drown, think of what happens when a shop vac hose sucks to your leg, now imagine that underwater but with 10 times the force. These things can hold as much as 450lbs of force when they become blocked which is more than 3 adult men can over come. Not to mention long hair can get tangled in the cover and hold your head underwater, if the cover comes off the sump of the drain your arm or foot and sometimes entire leg can be sucked into the pipe, or in a few cases a child sat on the drain sealing it with their butt, causing the extreme suction to pull their intestines out of their body and into the pump. In quite a few cases around the world there have been instances where the drain in a water park was very large and had a large pipe inside the sump (think 6' by 4' by 3' deep with a 12-14" wide pipe inside the sump under the grate), and a kid either lifted the cover and got sucked into the actual pipe or the cover came off causing a kid to become sucked into the pipe. There was an instance at a water park at the isle of mann where a British teenager was sucked into the piping system of the water park while he was looking for his goggles. This term is called suction entrapment and it has happened since the 1950s world wide and has claimed 100s of lives of children and adults. A law was created in the united States to prevent these tragedies and it is called the Virginia Graham Baker pool and spa safety act. It is named after a young girl who lost her life to a pool drain. Pools now a days are safer and have less of a chance for these instances to happen, you can tell that the drain has a newer cover on if it is a raised or dome shaped cover, and usually the drains are split into 2 so if it somehow becomes possible that a drain becomes blocked, the other drain will start sucking water and break the suction to the blocked drain allowing the swimmer to free themselves. Another safety design is called gravity fed suction and its when water flows by gravity from the drains in the pool to a holding tank and the pumps then draw water from the holding tank, thus eliminating any major suction forces. but older pools, hot tubs, and water parks do exist and this is sometimes a unknown danger that exist to this day. So as a precaution, always stay away from drains in a pool.
Scratching a scab with your EDC knife. Had a tiny ant/spider bite on the back of my leg that itched, i was cleaning my nails with my Pocket Knife and didnt think anything of it, and used the blade to scrape the itch on my leg, scraped off the tiny scab (hurt a tiny bit) and just kind of went "oops, forgot about that" and went back to cleaning my nails. 2 days later I was unable to even stand on my leg or walk anywhere, Black lines where radiating out from the tiny wound.... Serious infection, had to take antibiotics for two weeks. The pain was so unbelievable, its indescribable how bad it hurt. Ive broken my finger with a table glass top that slipped from my hand and smashed my finger between the table edge and the glass... and it hurt so bad it made me sweat... that was child's play next to this.
The cat scratch one I know well. My dad was scratched by our cat, and he got an infection that was life threatening. If it spread 1 way, it would have killed him, if it went the other way, he would have been paralyzed. He managed to make a full recovery.

Oooo Yellowstone. I did a summer college field study on the prairies of Wyoming that ended with a week of leisure in Yellowstone. There are many things seem safe in Wyoming. Bison - they seem calm and cute but they are gigantic beasts that can flip a car with no second thought. Same with moose, (meese?) they can be terrifying and stomp you to mush if you piss them off. In Yellowstone there was a funny looking puddle of bubbling mud we encountered. Turns out it is boiling kaolinite (a mineral) mud that would melt your flesh clean off the bones.
Here's my favorite one: during the actual coursework we were put in groups and sent to explore different parts of the southern WY prairie. When we gathered back at the end of a particular day, one kid was completely plastered with stinky mud head to toe and cussing. Turns out there was this deep (~7 ft) hidden mud puddle (not boiling) where the surface had dried out and appeared to be normal, solid ground. This dude walked away from the group to check out a cows rotting skull he saw on the ground. He walked over to it and plunged straight through the crust and into the deep mud, luckily he was quickly pulled out. The cow head was from a recently deceased cow that died in the mud pit and the head was still above the crust. This cow died when it couldn't climb out of the mud pit. The guy fell into a fetid muddy pit of rotten bovine flesh and survived. He couldn't shower for another 2 days because we were camping on this ranch for a few days before returning to our dorms with running water. He wasn't even in a major that required the study, he took it purely out of curiosity.

I got pulled into one a few years back when I was at the beach with my friends and that little bit of advice saved my life because I was flailing and couldn’t get out (because I was pulled under) and eventually I stopped flailing because I didn’t have the energy and I remembered it and I managed to escape it about 20 feet away I did not go into the water alone for a while
Hydraulic injury story.
I had a coworker who was working on a 10k forlift with another coworker. The guy checking for the leak had his arm in a access panel with his hand feeling around for the leak and he was instructing the other coworker to tap the hydraulic function to identify where the leak was coming from. End result- he found the leak at the cost of nearly decapitating half his hand. (A pin hole on a line producing 5500psi will cut through flesh like butter). He lost his hand and half his forearm since hydraulic fluid eats flesh. Never mess with hydraulics if you aren't qualified. And even then, be very careful.

@@dixon12355 Yes to an extent, it's more that it gives us the illusion of relieving stress, but really it is a contributor to the stress. I find the stress relief side of it can be intrinsically linked with taking a break, changing scene to give time to think or escape a situation to ground ourselves again. We should normalise 'taking a moment' without having to have the excuse of a cigarette break. I think that would help at least some smokers to quit, and it would be good for most people (smokers or not) to reduce stress.

It went up exponentially from "ankle: 0.01%" to "waist: 100%" Basically think of it as a mile-wide bulldozer blade moving at Usain Bolt speed. If you don't get above it, it *will* knock you down and it *will* kill you.
Disposable cigarette lighter : people known the fire hazard from this item, but still carelessly by lying it in hot car or in sight of small kids, although the kid never seen you use it, but they can ignite it accidentally.
There's a Myth Busters episode about leaving lighters in a hot car. They couldn't get any of them to explode even after putting the car into heat that was melting the plastic of the seats and was higher than any temperature the car would be in naturally on the earth. I mean I wouldn't say it could never happen, but it's 99.99% unlikely no matter how any car gets, your disposable lighter isn't going to burst into flames. Mainly because lighter fluid needs a spark to ignite, not just high temperatures. I mean if you tossed a dead lighter into a fireplace or campfire it will likely pop, but not just laying in a hot car.
Also every disposable lighter sold (in the US at least) has that childproof metal band over the flint wheel so it's highly unlikely that a little kid is going to be able to strike one alight. I believe the band makes it so that a child's thumb is physically unable to apply enough inertia to spin the wheel enough to make a spark. Not sure up to what age...obviously a 10 or 12 year old is going to be able to do it.

I got pushed in the pool once and almost drowned in front of my family. And my cousin who pushed me KNOWS that I can't swim. It was really hard to get out of the water and I was livid.

Car Jacks. Specifically scissor jacks, or jack stands...basically laying on the ground inches away from a 2 ton hunk of metal that will crush your skull like a watermelon if your jack isn't on a level stable surface or if the car rolls. Always always use jackstands and backup the stands with the jacks themselves and chock the wheels with stoppers or you will get flattened into a pancake of gore in your own driveway. It doesn't matter how fast the ambulance gets there you will be dead instantly.
Truth. If I ever worked on my car, I put it on ramps, pulled the e-brake, put jack stands under the car, chocked the rear wheels, disconnected the battery and kept my head away from the lowest hanging parts of the engine. I also always kept my cell phone close to me. That way, if literally everything else managed to fail, I would be pinned, but still alive and I could use the cell phone to call someone for help. Thankfully, nothing ever failed, but I don't take any chances when it comes to that kind of stuff.

One of my former students broke her back while riding an atv. She almost died, and it was terrifying for everyone because they had to keep restarting her heart. She was in a back brace for months, and she was lucky to not only survive but also be able to walk.
The cat bite thing surprised me. I grew up with cats and have been bitten multiple times. I would just put peroxide on it along with antibiotic ointment and a bandage. I've never had to go to the hospital for it.

In general, bad feelings. We've survived this long as a species because we're observant. If something feels wrong, it probably is, and it never hurts to be a little cautious.
A good example happened to my friend as a kid. She was at the pool with her mom and it was looking like it might thunderstorm bad - wind was blowing, sky was dark, etc. They were rushing everyone out of the water because if lighting strikes a body of water with people in it, you'll fry lol. So my friend and her mom are sitting in little lawn chairs beneath some big tree branches, and all of a sudden her mom gets this awful feeling in her stomach. She doesn't really know what set it off, but she knew she had to scoop up my friend and run. Not even seconds after, a tree fell over right where the two would be sitting.
Still scares the shit out of me to think how close we are to serious injury or death if we make one wrong decision.
Also, if you get bitten by a human, go to the emergency room. We have lots of germs in our mouths that are meant to stay there.
The one about having your feet on the dash is so scary. My parents always would tell me to never sit like that and they told me why from a young age and it scared the shit out of me so I never will ever do that. Fast forward to being in a relationship with my ex and he would drive everywhere until the first time I drove and he put his feet up like that as soon as we got in the car and I told him to take them down and he said why do I told him and he said that it's never gonna happen so I shouldn't worry about it. I told him I wasn't gonna drive until he took his feet down. He ended up driving after 10 minutes of us sitting in the driveway arguing about him taking his feet down. He thought it was a stab at his manhood. I guess it's a good thing I got out of that relationship.
Abandoned building exploration. You never want to just go into an abandoned building and just walk around. When you watch any urban explorer or abandoned building channel they didn't just see a building and immediately go in. That entire exploration and video were very carefully and extensively planned. Those backpacks have literal pounds of gear in them, first aid, detectors, water, food. They wear certain boots, pants, shirts, etc. I remember one video specifically where they were abandoning an old French mine that was _very_ deep and they basically said "we want to explore deeper but we told our friends if we weren't back by 10 pm to call for help."
I was acting in a short film and they found an abandoned trailer to film that happened to be on the land his uncle owned. We opened the door and I immediately decided that I wouldn't even set foot in there. I said "absolutely not" cause it was clearly not safe. We did exterior shots of the trailer but after that we filmed the interior scenes at the director's (safe) apartment where we made it look look like that place as best as possible. The ruse worked but I am SO glad we did not shoot in that scary place that looked like it would collapse at any second.

Even breathing in a lot of abandoned buildings can be dangerous, due to fungal spores, asbestos dust, or other chemical contamination in the air.
Most of these I'm no authority on, but the dog one I can tell you is incredibly true.
Dogs give body language that most people don't catch, it's not always a growl or bark, it can be as simple as them licking their lips out of stress then bam, you are bit. I work with aggressive and bite case dogs for a career and some of them look way chiller than you would expect. Respect dogs, especially if they are alone without an owner present.

11:08 here's another thing about that: always read the instructions on floor cleaners before mixing ANYTHING with it. Things like Lysol or Pinesol or even Fabuloso when mixed with something as simple as Dawn or Palmolive can produce toxic byproducts in the air or on the surface you are cleaning. Even mixing something as seemingly harmless as vinegar with some floor cleaners can cause this and worse.
I once bought a new brand of floor cleaner that I'd never heard of from the Dollar Tree and when I went to mix my mop bucket to clean up spilled soda...I did my usual of mixing vinegar with it (makes the floor dry faster if you're wondering) and the mixture quickly got hot enough to melt through my mop bucket while it was still sitting in my sink...mind you I wasn't even filling it with hot water, I was filling it with cold water because it was winter and I was worried about hot water on my floor tiles. I don't know or care what I produced but I will never do that again.
And I'm at the point in my life with pets that I actually just mop my floor with warm water (or a temperature appropriate for the floors temperature) and a mixture of lemon juice, vinegar and whiskey. Works wonders, evaporates quickly and doesn't damage anything I've used it on yet.
If anyone is interested:
1 gallon appropriate temperature water
1 cup lemon juice
1 cup apple cider or white vinegar
2 shots of cheap whiskey
Do not drink this unless you are stupid and like things that taste like vomit. Never done myself but I can only imagine it's F-ing disgusting.
And if you are really that concerned about it smelling like something, put a drop or two of some essential oil in the mixture. Do not put to much or it will make your floor greasy, slippery and potentially toxic to your pets/children.
And yes, children lick floors, lick their hands that have touched the floor and put everything in their mouths. And dogs still lick their paws even if they aren't compulsive groomers like cats are.
Also if you own reptiles you let run around on the floor do not even put the oil in the mixture because it will osmosis through their belly skin and foot skin and they have incredibly sensitive nervous systems...you can accidentally kill your reptile.
And while on reptiles running freely, DO NOT EVER USE PINESOL ON A FLOOR THEY SPENT ANY AMOUNT OF TIME ON!!

I guess I’m lucky the money from my mom dried out (my family was super poor, but my mom would give me 5 bucks to share at the store.) and she cut me off hard, because in the last weeks we ‘hung out’, she started talking more and more about walking across the very active railroad bridge next to us. And I know dumbass me would have done it.
Changing a tire wrong. Always do the initial loosening (breaking loose) of the lug nuts while the car is still on the ground. THEN put the jack under to completely unscrew them. If you try to break them loose while up on stands, you’ll rock it off the jack and hurt yourself. Another thing with tires/wheels is never mess with older semi tires, they have what’s called a split rim, if you accidentally separate it, or overfill it , it will explode with an unimaginable amount of force. That’s why when they do these the put the tire in a protective metal cage in case it explodes. Look up “split rim explosion”

A split rim semi or tractor tire is essentially just a pneumatic bomb. And there are still people who change them without using the cages.
Hiking and camping without proper equipment. For the most part public hiking areas are safe using a little common sense but for those who travel and go hiking / camping in unfamiliar territory, they should always research the area and be prepared for any unusual factors or potential threats. Not only having the right gear, food, water, tp, etc but some areas are habitat for some pretty dangerous predators, most on four legs, but some on two. If the situation dictates that you should be armed then ignoring that crucial message and going without a weapon can end very badly. I've heard too many stories of people wandering into bear territory, or elk, moose, wild cat... unarmed and tragedy occurring when a firearm might or would have made the difference between death and surviving.

You have to gash it all over the surface. Give it plenty of spots for the steam to escape or it turns into a bomb.

I shouldn't think it's US specific- but as one who has been out on the work force for many years, I can't help but think it's a bad idea to socialize with co-workers too much....Why? Because most people lack the self-control to keep work and their personal lives separate.....and even if it's not any sort of romantic relationship, the dynamics of a friendship can be really detrimental to the dynamics of a workplace.....I'm not educated enough to provide any sort of scientific explanation for this, but I have seen it played over time and time again.
@@ogivecrush fair enough, I ask if it was a US specific thing because I really haven't noticed this as much in Southeast Asia, like sure people do mention to keep boundaries from your superiors and bosses always, no matter how friendly they are, but not so much about co-workers, hell, for most adults here, they are nearly always the only friends and confidants they've got

Riding a horse... so once I was with some friends who went to ride some Arabian Stallions (weren't well trained). The horse started trying to kick one guy but he stayed in front of it so the horse bit his knee and lifted and slammed him twice before running away (almost trampling the guy).
TLDR; Don't mess with horses
It's crazy to think the number of lives that could be saved if people just though for five seconds before doing something

@@yop186 she was around it enough that it started growing in her lungs. It emits a type of bacteria that can be breathed in and it can kill you. The irony was that she had several bird feeders on her deck in front of windows so she can watch them eat and therefore had a lot of bird poop on her deck where she sat at in the evening time watching the birds and squirrels.

8:20 LINT. This. Year was 1987. Hubby and I were out fishing when we saw smoke rising in the distance. "Some idiot's place burning down", was his remark. He was correct. The divorced guy next to us in the mobile home park had NEVER heard of cleaning the lint trap on the dryer. His place went up in a hurry, and ours was damaged (very lucky I'd parked my car across the street instead of in the driveway between us). ALSO clean the lint from out of the vent hose several times a year. I keep a bottle brush handy for cleaning under the lint trap where more residue collects.
The guy and his kid had gone to the store so were not in the place when it burned down.
